8 English and only 6 Irish - a recognition of Englands performances in recent years-and the number of 6N tournaments won 😂
Long they actually debated taking George over Sheehan. Closed the video after that.
@@CorneliusclewsburyRose tinted glasses
What a joke, jingoism at its best.
No debate at no 2 Dan Sheehan nailed on
Dorris will be captain and starting 8
Blooming hell, I'm not sure if this is ignorance or arrogance but some staggering decisions.
To not mentioned any of the Glasgow pack that won the URC is ludicrous.
Then to pick Duhan who people are questioning should even be in Scotland team.
But to not even mention Tuipulotu shows a total disregard of URC.
*sees no mention of Sioni, turns off*
This was kinda biased, 1 has to be Porter, 13 has to be H Jones or ringrose and 15 Kinghorn. I’m a safa btw and tbh leaving these guys off the 15 is outrages

Tuipolotu omission is criminal
I think Blair Kinghorn might have something to say about this too!
I'm Irish and I totally agree...Kinghorn has turned into a series player at Toulouse.
Big fan of Freddie Stewart too.
Irish here and 100% id have keenan and kinghorn ahead of furbank but he has definitely improved in the last year
Kinghorn has never really done it at international level though.
I agree, I’m English & can’t believe he wasn’t even in the conversation… There’s one or two others in France as well, namely Arrundell & Willis to name but a few. 🤔
Surely Farrell managing the Irish side will count for a lot more then these two think. Given how strong they’ve been, there’s bound to be AT LEAST 10 Irish starters.
The bias is hilarious lmao-
How can you not include guys like the likes of Tommy Reffell, Sione Tuipolotu, Blair Kinghorn, Huw Jones, and even Ben earl lol. 😂
Tommy Reffell over JVF?
@@DannyCareYT at the moment yes.👍- for a player like Reffell to be with an extremely under performing wales side and still shining like he his for club and country is truly great to see and as of right now I take him on my team of Van Der Flier
I do believe Tommy Reffell is currently a better player and is playing better rugby than Van Der Flier at the moment
@@Mikah.29once Jac Morgan is back fit I don’t think Reffell even starts for Wales
your on the danny care podcast mate, I dont think the bias is being hidden.

This has to be the most bias lions I have ever seen some shocking takes.
Thanks for your opinion Finn. Who would you select?
only up to 4 and already laughing at the english bias. ha ha
50% of the team isn't English Gareth. And lots of mention from DC and Aki on the 16-23 that aren't English either.
Still to much english players😅cant even beat scotland mate@@DannyCareYT
As a Scot I think you’ve overlooked the Fagerson’s and Tuipulotu. Also think Kinghorn should be ahead of Duhan, not as powerful, but stronger under the high ball and still got plenty of pace and a bit of physicality about him. Beirne, Doris and JGP looked nailed on. For England does Underhill get a look in? Such a brilliant tackler. Lake for Wales? Reffell and Morgan good players in a very competitive position!
I’d also go for Russell at 10, call me biased but his experience would be vital and also a terrific defender in amongst his other attributes.
After his shockers in the prem this season I'd rather see Marcus Smith over Russel and maybe bring Russel off the bench
Why would you downgrade Ireland with those Scots?
They both probably don’t want the URC Doug.
Got to disagree with your Welsh pics and im Welsh. Unless any Welsh player produces a monumental 6N then only Tomas Williams will go as 3rd choice 9. He's playing some great rugby at Gloucester and at the moment is the token Welsh pic. Ireland 16 players England 13 Scotland 6 Wales 1 would be about right.
@@user-is9ofas long as Smith is at 10 wherever he plays then russel or smith can do the job. At 15 Smith is suspect and you have to have him on the front foot at 10 to get the best out of him.

Best list, so far
On recent form, you start with the Ireland XV, and then look at the other nations for where there's a better option. At most you get 4 or 5 non-Irishmen drafted in. I'm not an expert on back play, so I'll leave that for others; but in the pack, the Irish front row, Beirne, van der Flier and Doris are 6 definites.
I think you could put James Lowe on either wing and he would give you a better back 3 combination and balance, doesn't have to be the best individual in a vacuum pick.
Genge Sheehan Furlong, Martin & Beirne, Doris Morgan Cunningham-South, Gibson Park & Smith, Tuipoloto & Jones, Keenan Duhan and.. Wade!
You do know Andy Farnell will have more irish than English and rightly so
“This is not just picking our mates.”
Marcus Smith at ten.
Finn is literally the best 10 on the planet, he’s got to start!
People in the comments need to chill. Id have keenan and sheehan in there for sure but its a bit of fun. Tupolotu and ringrose would be a nice balance at centre, genege and porter is a tight one. Id also bring owen faz.
Wise words Mike!
A masterfully crafted team. Not for the tour of course but to generate interactions on YT! You will go far on this platform Danny.

For a Lions 23, I want a physical and explosive back line, a creative scrum half/Fly half pairing , a bruising pack and a massively experienced bench. The video clearly has a very strong English Bias. There is no chance Furbank starts over Keenan. Garry Ringrose starts over Lawrence. Finn Russell over Marcus Smith ( Farrell probably brings Finn Russell, Owen Farrell and Jack Crowley). Dan Sheehan is as nailed on a starter as possible, Jamie George is as nailed on a hooker off the bench too. Lawes for me comes off the bench and bruises teams. I think Beirne starts at 6 for added lineout stability. Joe McCarthy and Maro Itoje are absolute monsters and they would be needed in the pack as the Aussies have some big boys in the 2nd row. I think the tightest call in the entire squad is going to be between Duhan Van Der Merve and James Lowe and I think Lowe just about takes the jersey. Duhan is elite but Farrell relies on James Lowes big left boot so much that I can't imagine he goes without it. The bench is where I want a huge amount of experience an know how because you need calm experienced heads to see out games. Jamie George, Zander Fagerson, Courtney Lawes, Conor Murray and Owen Farrell are the perfect amount of experience and leadership you need off the bench. Andrew Porter, Jack Willis and Blair Kinghorn offer game changing ability off the bench.
1 Ellis Genge
2 Dan Sheehan
3 Tadhg Furlong
4 Maro Itoje
5 Joe McCarthy ( Together with Itoje, they would monster teams)

16 Jamie George
17 Andrew Porter
18 Zander Fagerson
19 Courtney Lawes ( Imagine bringing this lad on when your starting to get tired)
20 Jack Willis
21 Conor Murray
22 Owen Farrell
23 Blair Kinghorn ( Between Farrell and Kinghorn they can cover 10-15)
Love the detail and thought process here. Don’t agree with everything but lots of sensible logic 10/10 from us!!👊
George couldn’t carry Sheehans boots
I'm surprised Ben Earl didn't even get a mention. Backrow is exceptionally competitive from all 4 home nations but thought he'd get a mention at least. Given Curry so injury prone and I don't think he's been at his best for a number of years I'd take Earl over Curry.

Only Tomos Williams as a sub should be considered from Wales. Morgan has had no playing time due to injury and unless he has a monumental 6N he wont travel. Williams is shining at Gloucester and if he keeps it going will be a token welsh selection. Got to realise Ireland have such strength and England shortly behind them. As long as Marcus Smith is kept away from the 15 jersey the Lions will be a difficult unit to beat.

How you lads planning on winning lineouts?
Jamie’s 90%+ accuracy and Maro/Courtney/Beirne jumping. Not a terrible suggestion is it?

no mention of Underhill or Earl in the backrow?

I think that the 15 have a good chance to be in a 38 or 53, but unless England beat Ireland in Dublin this year, I think its unlikely that the order is what you think it is. If anything, you would have to assume that Farrell will pick his Lions team starting off with his Irish team and going from there. There is no hope of anyone who is not in a current England 23 being considered as a pick, like Lawes and Danny. I would even be astonished if he picks his son ahead of Russell and the Smiths. I wouldn't completely discount Frawley and Crowley either.
That’s gas.. sure you might as well, just pick the full English team. Hmm, who’s the number one team in the world currently 😜
Boys I watched this with mates as an Englishmen living in Scotland and it caused a stir lol. I tried to defend you as a Quins and England die hard would (and I know you guys aren’t arrogant) but F me if you’ve not prob seen your Celtic subs diminish I’d be astounded lol.
I personally saw merit in a lot of your choices, but Gengey needs to scrum more effectively to oust others from selection, Jamie George cannot be ahead of Dan Sheehan. That’s just biblically wrong. As is mentioning Marler as reserve to Genge. Love big Joe but he’s playing for England because he’s one of the few who can fire shots at scrum time for us. Other Lions nations don’t have that issue …
Finn Russell should be ahead of Marcus S simply on experience, achievements and box office flair. Marcus has the latter too and it might be that the two duke it out on tour. I don’t think Lawes will get a starter role and think you overlooked Earl as the premier English pick across all 15. Lawrence would also need to do a lot in the Autumn to justify his starting place.
I’d also happily pick 15 Englishmen 😂 but this is the British & Irish Lions not the London Lions.
Keep the content up lads loving the debates and interviews. Well done!

You both know Scotland exist right?
Can put out a 2nd string Lions team and they will easily beat the Aussies. If we going by your selections this is not really a lion's tour but more a English/Irish tour. Would be nice to see Tuiplotu at centre. Russel over Smith anyday. Smith on the international stage has looked average. For me Lions test matches always had a good sprinkling of all the nations and this side does not feel like it. But I will say this team will spank the Aussies badly.

A quick nod to Danny for replying to so many of the comments, even the ones just throwing toys. Interesting 15. Formidable. I would still select Dan Sheehan at 2. Wouldnt choose Porter as much as I like him, because he has a tendency of giving the wrong picture to the refs. Feyi Waboso is potential stardust, but Keenan has made about 2 mistakes in the past 2 years. I like safe hands at 15 under a high ball. That centre pairing could be scary if they manage to run the midfield and communicate properly (although Aki is a bit of a card magnet!)

Ah lads this selection is embarrassing!

Its almost the England tour party to Australia lets just get rid of the Lions according to these 2
A come on what have England done 😂😂😂
Gone early, and gone wrong in so many positions? Do you watch much rugby outside the Premiership? I’m not one to be pro-Scottish, but they’re incorrectly represented by the one you have chosen, and there may be more.
Some you have chosen would struggle to get into an Irish 23 (not saying they’re not good enough, but they wouldn’t improve on the 23 in terms of how Faz wants to play).
Have you guys even heard of Scotland
Yep, Big Duey plays for them.
Not surprising that a massive english biased here, it would be an obvious call for Andy Farrell to field a few Irish players, but Andy is a bigger man than that, he has selected, JGP, Frawley and Osborne when they were not first team picks at club level, so in true ' Lions' values he will spread the 4 nations into the squad. Doris for Captain!
That's a bit nutty Geoff. I don't think Big Faz will be worried about representation of the 4 x nations to win test matches...he'll want the best players on the pitch to get the job done. 50% of their pick is non-English. Thanks for your opinion though. Cheers, Team HDiff
I could be wrong, but 8/15 is not 50%, only 1 scot and no Welsh, likely there won't be many Welsh lads in the entire squad and possibly none in the best 15, but I could envisage a higher number of Ireland players followed by England players and 2 or 3 Scottish players, still interesting to get others opinions. Thanks
@@geoffnelson6756 Can't cut a player in half Geoff, you get the point right?
@@DannyCareYTJust a bit of banter although the bookies have odds on 10 Irish, 4 English and 1Scot, and thats with Owen Farrell at 10. Not sure Farrell snr will follow the bookies picks.
I’ve got the Irish lads front row but was stuck on who would be captain had a debate with a mate and we decided Courtney Lawes captain at 5 or 6
It'll be Dorris
Wouldn’t argue too much with most of that. Obviously a few English bias picks, which you’d expect from an English pod just as you would any other nations pods. But the back 3 is all sorts of wrong for me. Keenan is absolutely the front runner for the 15 shirt. And VDM is nowhere near a Lions starter position. He can look great going forward sometimes, but the guy is a complete liability defensively and has been regularly shown up by Irish sides in particular over the years. I wouldn’t rule out one of Lowe (left boot) or Hansen (roving winger) given how Farrell is likely to set them up to play.
Hey @danny,
Awesome show :) continue the hard work and before you know it you’ll be a famous rugby voice on the web mate
I am an England fan, but this team is too England heavy.
I mean what’s the point in taking this seriously🤣
Way to England biased .But would expect nothing else from Englishmen.
Thanks Craig. Who would you select?
@@DannyCareYT The best players Jesus it's not hard
@@DM-rp9ik Great answer 🤯...just after your opinion!
@DannyCareYT Easy wins man Porter Sheehan Russell Tuipulotu, you picked a serious downgrade in at least half their positions
love the vids keep it up DC
Sinkler 😂
With what's available its going to be the best Lions squad in paper for many a tour.
As an Englishman I hope im proven wrong but I reckon Jamie George is on a downward trajectory.
Unless some have a stormer this season and Ireland aren't the top of the British and Irish nations in the 6N the team will rightly be predominately made up of Irish.
a lot of Englishmen in that team...
Think you guys need to watch a bit more rugby!
Hahaha why don't you just pick all the England rugby team in would be less embarrassing
Thats on par as bad as Warburtons team omitting some of the stand out players in the world for has beens and unproven hype merchants.
Some easy wins for anyone picking a Lions team
Porter
Sheehan
Russell
Tuipulotu
Ringrose
These guys are clear of the field right now or very close to it. Even still hes not picked relatively equivalent players hes picked a downgrade on these in most positions.
Anyone who picks Kinghorn over Keenan have no idea what they're talking about
I know it's a bit of fun but it's almost criminal that Tuipolotu is left out of your list and really there should be more Irish players in than English. It leaves me with the impression you guys don't watch much URC, which I get as I don't watch premiership rugby as an Irish person - but then I wouldn't go on youtube and talk from a narrow view point.
Or you're playing a blinder and picking a controversial team to drive up viewer engagement as that feeds into the algorithm. Honestly- bravo if that is the case... genuine big brain stuff as nearly everyone commenting has took the bait.
MrRed...thanks for your comment, much appreciated. The guys watch a great mix of rugby. And with 700 professional games between them, they have a relatively valuable understanding of the situation. 50% of their team is URC and lots of their bench is URC too. But...everyone has an opinion. Cheers, Team DC
