- This week Elma Smit and Bob Skinstad welcome one of, if not the best coach in the world - Jacques Nienaber. We relive South Africa's glory at the 2023 World Cup.
Whose idea was 7:1? What are Battle Stats? How do you build a winning culture? Why did he leave for Leinster?

Glad you mentioned Franco.. what a player!
Really like Elma as a GBR host...need more of her !
Ella has turned into a REALLY good journalist. What a pleasure this was to watch. She is first class, the other GBR hosts should take note!
Brilliant interview, thank you Jacques! We’ll be forever grateful
I love this interview but effing hell, 3 saffas are telling saffa story on a British owned podcast... No man be better
Did you want a Brit to share SAFFA emotions?
What a great interview, I agree. I hope Cricket SA watches this
Excellent chat this. Thanks all! And for Jacques, I only wish the best of things. How fortunate for SA to have two brains of the calibre of J and R (and the rest of that management group) coaching the team
Jacques and Rassie pulled off the impossible! Maybe the greatest coaching duo in the history of sport! And such down to earth lads! So proud of them and what they've achieved for SA and SA rugby! I (and millions more) are forever in your debt. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
Being great human beings and role models is at least equally important. their social skills are simply the best.
Easier literally made an hour long video to just abuse refs
Love this guy hope he gets the recharge with his family that he deserves legend!
Fantastic interview. Elma is always good at interviewing and Bob is always pleasant. Jaques is a massive loss for SA but a massive gain for Leinster
He must returned Befre 2027
As a Leinster supporter interesting interview :) can’t wait to see what the future holds haha
Hope to have you back for next World Cup with Rassie to bring the cup back to South Africa BOKKE forever ♥️♥️🇿🇦
I love this interview but effing hell, 3 saffas are telling saffa story on a British owned podcast... No man be better
@@kylewestman5400 Did you just learn how to cut and paste text?
What a brilliant interview . Thankyou to everyone involved !!! Brilliant !
The players in the squad are not necessarily the best players based of their statistics....but they are the best players for the team...
That's true leadership... true leaders won't necessarily chose someone for a job who had the highest marks and best education and who ticks all the boxes... there's an X factor that true leaders pick up when choosing the best.
Love it
Amazing coach...huge thanks for everything you've done for the Boks Jacques 🇿🇦🔥🏆🏆🏆🏆
Great Interview...Thank you Jacques for your passion and commitment to the Springboks and South Africa... all the best for you on your new rugby journey
Great interview. Got to love Jaques, such a down to earth and honest man. Great combination of him and Rassie. 🙌🙌
What a great interview…. we…South Africa…miss you already❤
Great interview.. really good guy he's already put his mark on the Leinster pack excited to see his growth and experience when it comes to the knockouts stages in the spring 💙
Elma is the best interviewer in rugby today. Hands down!
A fantastic interview, thank you.
Jacques really highlighting what a unified culture can do for us all. Amazing, formidable, strong, invested, unified! Strength in our diversity. Imagine if we can honestly translate that to the rest of our country in all spheres of life. A wonderful lesson in humility and the Boks are the only thing we have that are brave enough to embrace it right now.
The dream lives on. Forever grateful to the entire team and staff for the hope.
Wishing you well at Leinster Jacques 👍
Elma's tears in 2019 - almost as memorable as kolbe's try
Amazing interview 👏🏿👏🏿
Enjoyed this one. JN will coach the Boks again when his kids are older….wonderful interview. Thought Elma and Bob were excellent….professional, thoughtful, great questions and good chemistry between the interviewers and interviewee.
Jaques Nienaber is one of the most amazing coaches. We as South Africans love, respect and we will miss him dearly. We wish him well, but in our hearts, he lesst a huge void. 😊
Honest, adaptive, smart and brilliant Rugby coach. Yes Jacques.
Incredible Coach! Incredible podcast! Well done All! Happy New Year!!!!!
Dankie Bobbi en Elma. Hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie. Merry Xmas and a blessed festive season. Ons natuurlik trots op almal van julle. 🎉❤
Elma is such a bomb shell yooh🔥🔥😍
Great interview.
Siya already showed us the way
@@blaquenguni9249 hahaha! Do you think I've got a chance?
Legends. Jacques example of enjoying challenges and grabbing all opportunities and Siya's similar tenacity to make the most of the opportunities he had are 2 excellent examples for all young South Africans. Siya didnt let his lack of English hold him back at Grey. Jacques didnt think he could not do defence. They both, in different ways, looked at the bright side of the situation, both believed they could do it and both took the opportunties and have become legends and uplifted our whole country
You are correct. S A are soo blessed and proud, that our coach is working in Ireland.
It's easy to forget how hard it is to win a rugby world cup. 4 years of preparing comes down to 1 single point. A thousand small things that need to come together perfectly.
i love south africans
so real
😂Jaques is our undercover agent , he is there taking notes for us...its all part of the Big plan, The Springboks are always 10 steps ahead of everyone 😂😂😂😂
Uuugghhh Kentucky fried brain dead 😂🤦🏻♂️
This might totally sound like a practical joke, but you never know with Rassie yeah 😂
You never know with rassie!
Nah he just decided he wanted to move onto bigger things
Has come down to South Africa sending in undercover agents, to keep up with the way ireland is changing the game. that's quite sad to be honest.
Elma praat baie posh Engels deesdae. 😉 Ek neem aan sy werk oorsee. Wel gedaan Elma! As ek reg onthou het sy n kompetisie gewen op Supersport om n kans te kry om aanbieder te wees.
Loved this video. Thanks guys
Elma is excellent
Great interview and very interesting the strategy for the winning formula
yoh this guy is a lot hey - no surprise they won - really clear and concise and deliberate about success
Loved that 💚💚💚
Jacques is going NOWHERE my booiiiiii
The trust in the coaches.... If going back to 2019 and not selecting Cheslin for the Semi is small things that makes the players trust a coach fully. Having done National Service as well, it all comes down to get the buy-in from your players that the team/bigger picture is always first and foremost above everything.
The players did not become the title. Such a profound truth. I don't think RasNaber became the titles either. Amazing leaders.
What a Legend
Jacques is right, letting players go play overseas open up their eyes to different experience and different types and styles of play which they can bring it back to the Boks and utilize effectively. And while they’re away, it gives up their spots for young talents so coaches can be looked at. English rugby need to change their approach even Wales and others, they are not NZ to have a wealth of talents. Imagine Maro, Farrel, Vunipola and other internationals went to France so they can grow other young talents at Saracens now when those internationals are not on form and getting old England team will struggle to replace them with new players cos they are very inexperience. 🤷🏽♂️ and maybe they will have a strong squad like Boks for the next World Cup. Just my 2 cents
Great interview
Thanks Jacques. Come on home 2026 for 2027
He will be back for the 2027 worldcup with more insight that may help springboks , mark my words.
ELMA we miss you
Amazing , amazing interview
Wish I could have a beer with Jacques
Elma die springbok Trui agter jou! Watter weergawe is dit? Laat weet asb ek sal dit graag wil koop! Groete uit Lima Peru
Marvelous interview.would have being better to listen bobby interview rassie those two hated it each other in their playing days .i remember rassie captaining the cats and the cats lost all of their games and putting all their eggs in one basket to come and beat the stormers..rassie and bobby hated each other.bobby nowadays so humble ...
One BIG Family...
Jacques and o gara to coach Ireland post Farrell, watch this space 👍
Elma! Sjoe!
😂😂😂😂 Question and answer what a interview
The masterminds wrote the script
Lekker!!!!!
I think the Irish and South Arficans are so alike in many ways
Kom terug Jacques!
Nou weet hulle wat ons weet.
maar hulle sal dit nooit verstaan nie
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Let's tell the world all our secrets, free IP 🙄 Incredible ...
David Nucifora was a Wallaby. I don’t believe he ever coached League.
😂You can say what you like about RASSIE but damn the guy knows The rules .Bloody hell hes poineer alot of things with rugby union ..😅😅Rassie style not always great for the eye ,but hes got by in from all his players..respect Johan Erasmus.Youre a fighter
Welcome to Ireland 🇮🇪
Elma is fine.
What will you do Jacques when Ireland appoint you as their coach to win the world cup?
Wonderfull guy, great coach go bokke.
WHAT A CHEAP SHOT FROM THE LADY ACTING ALL SUPRISE ABOUT THE MEDALS BEING LEFT IN SA, MENTIONING BREAK INS AN SARU..... 😅. 🙈
Thanx Elma . Thanx Jacques...and skinstad....stop talking so much about yourself
Elma clearly loves here new ‘home’ - even her astonishment with Jacques leaving his medal back in South Africa is so cringy. Sy vergeet wat ons weet
Ha ha I thought the same hey. Let hope he has the Doberman on guard!
medals come and go its the memories that last
We all know Felix Jones left, so Rassie needs a consultant in Dublin now😅 also begin the 27 wins in a row 😉 keep an eye on the Irish and also out of WC quarters 😂
Elma and Bobby get them £££ from your bosses at GBR but make no mistake… every day you do is a day away from SA
Die Wen Kant.
I still feelthat Tom Curry should apologize to Bongi and the Springboks.
Not when Courtney Lawes states it wasn't the first time he'd been abused by him.
So we should believe Tom's teamate but not Bongi's teamates?@@bulltraderpt
@@bulltraderpt my broer English is not the only spoken language in the world. All Courtrney Lawes and Curry had to do was open a dictionary and search for "Wit kant/ wyd kant" 12 year olds are laughing at therir stupidity hear in South Africa. Come on man if im playing in France and french players are speaking in france and i hear a word similar to a swear word in English time and Time again...the first thing i will do is open upa dictionary before i open up my bitter, poisionous evil mouth and accuse them of nonsense. The fact that Curry and all of those who had a big mouth in the english coaching staff havent acknowledged that it was words mixed up in translation and not appologised, shows their true charachter of how arrogant and cowardly they are.How Siya Kholisi and Springboks handled this whole bitterness from the English is a display of what a world class team the Springboks are. Good day from "Die wen Kant", before you accuse me of anything let me translate my words Good day from"The Winning side"
Erm, he's black. He's hardly going to stick up for Curry if he didn't know would he.@@TheFilmInsomniac
Lol So we should believe Lawes because he's black? how does that make a difference? @@bulltraderpt
The next Irish coach 😊😉🇮🇪
Nothing wrong with Andy
@@imntg6649yeah quarter final exit again🤷🏽♂️🤣
I love this interview but effing hell, 3 saffas are telling saffa story on a British owned podcast... No man be better
yup, GBR reports on Rugby , internationally. They do the same with NZ and Aus. Dont think the Pod would be as successful if it focused exclusively on Steve Borthwick. ;)
It would have been great for Tindall to be in this interview to ask J about some of the points he’s made before about the SA team (eg. winning games despite low possession stats and missing tackles eg. In the france game and what J view on that is).
Also would have been great to hear from J which opposition players were the most challenging for the Boks and what other international teams he thought had the most potential in the next 4 years. And things like what other coaches he most admired and why. Also to understand why they were willing to take that risk with the 7-1 split when we had the players to make 6-2 work…
Was a great interview though just needed a few more pointed questions I thought to cater for a broader audience and to really understand their decision making
@@deborahlawson5109 Those are good questions... regarding the split...
My feelings are that the split was well judged on player stats too. The France game showed quite a few players in the back 7 with good exposure with the french game style which made a 5-3 spllit more viable.
The 7-1 Split against NZ had quite a few players that have experience in beating that particular NZ team pool.
All good questrions... I'm just speculating
Be better = saffa media houses, literally not one interview like this available in SA so well done GBR!
Now add rassie and old know it all Lawrence and that would be some content
ELma, you ask a question and answer it yourself. Short question and let the interviewed interpret it. You are trying to dictate the outcome too much. You need to learn this.
This women thinks the show is about her - ask the question, then SHUT UP AND LISTEN!
