I have to say that I have discovered Raycast, just a few weeks ago. I know I have been leaving under a rock, but at the same time, I don't even know how I was able to work until Raycast. You guys have developed by far the most "HAVE TO USE APP" ever for mac users. I cannot thank you enough.
An extremely enthusiastic convert from Alfred here. I can't believe I didn't switch to Raycast sooner! It's AWESOME. It replaces multiple little applets I've used for years for various tasks.
As many others mentioned the window size is perfect and is just the right size to get enough context at a glance while not taking up too much of my existing workspace. One note is I only use compact mode and that has also been perfect!
I loved that camera preview is so nice, would definitely use before going into meetings. Also would love to show the Raycast community on how I use Raycast on daily basis, extensions, and some of the scripts I wrote over the years. ✌
A window size settings option would be great. I personally would love it bigger. That way different people can have their desired preference. Great video. I really appreciated the window -+ suggestion.
On the mention of Mechanical Keyboards; It would be fantastic if Raycast could incorporate the feature of viewing QMK or VIA configs. Often, I find myself uncertain about macros or keys that are nested in different layers. Having the ability to quickly access and review my layers and keys through Raycast would be truly remarkable!
Nerdy rants aside, what I use the most are the simple but extremely useful built-in tools: dictionary, calculator, unit and currency conversions, sleep/caffeinate/sleep displays, open app, snippets for website searches, and text expansion.
Do you think you guys could do a video for us techies/coders to understand how something like Raycast is built? I think it's an amazing tool and would love to learn what goes on with the magic behind the scenes.
Thank you! We actually add the keystrokes manually in post, so that we can highlight only the meaningful ones and keep them on screen for however long makes sense ☺️
Does the AI response keep memory of previous conversations? That would be amazing because than it slowly becomes you and understands a larger context over time.
The window size is fine, but it would be convenient to resize it using window management shortcuts. Additionally, having the option to move the window around with the keyboard would be great. I often find myself dragging the window unnecessarily just to view something behind it.
How can I replicate the "extensions assistant" meaning can I have a shortcut that will take a selected text and input a standard prompt with instructions ?
I'm a paid member, and the best feature is assigning roles to AI. I use this every day, but I wish there were fewer steps to choose the role that I want to use. Currently, you call Raycast, type "ai chat," and if the previous chat is old, Raycast will create a new chat. If not, Raycast will prompt you with the previous role. Now, I switch between code assistance, writer, and some internal roles, and having to switch back and forth takes time. What if you call a new action, like "ai role dashboard," where you have a window with, let's say, six chat sections, and each section has a different role? I think this will be great!!!
Why does Thomas's Ask AI feature have the ability to search the internet? Is this a feature of the new version? When is this version expected to be released? Thank you.
And then, in the previous video, I noticed that your clipboard feature allows annotations on images, but mine doesn't. Is this a feature of the new version also?
Because he's using an internal version of Raycast, which includes work in progress features that are being tested before releasing. Don't have an exact date when it'll be released, but should be soon :)
Just learned about Raycast. The idea seemed interesting, but now that I saw this video, I assume it adds to the complexity of my work, not subtracts from it. It's not that with Raycast I can use seven apps instead of ten, rather, it's an eleventh app to juggle those ten a bit more seamlessly.
that’s fair! you can totally use Raycast in a pretty low key way, though - like i’d been doing the past 2 years before i joined the team 😅. not everyone has to be a power user like Thomas. may i ask what’s the kind of work that you do and how you think an app like Raycast could help you better?
I had been using Alfred for over 5 years. IMHO, Raycast is far easier to customize, moves faster and has a more active developer community than Alfred. I say that with a lot of sadness as I LOVED Alfred. I can’t go back now.
I’m personally not a fan of those, I’d hate to open DaVinci Resolve by accident and have to wait like 2 minutes 🤪 I like to make my app launch shortcuts a little harder to perform, with both control and shift as modifiers ✨
@@BrunoReisVideo Totally fair! I'll see how it goes and if I accidentally trigger apps! Most of the ones I set up I have open all the time anyways, luckily
The ⌥ shortcuts at the beginning of the video hurt me. I wouldn't be able to live without using the option key for special characters - it's one of the most beautiful and elegant features of macOS, that allows easy access not only to essential diacritics like ã or ç, but also to a wide selection of correct typographical and mathematical glyphs like … and ≠. I highly recommend anyone to hold option and press all the keys to see what comes out. And then do it again with option+shift. #leaveoptionalone
Thomas here 👋 I mainly type in English or German and don't need many special characters. If I need some, I use our Emoji Picker, which includes the common Unicode symbols. Others on the team use "⌃" or "⌃ + ⌥" as modifier keys. The beauty of Raycast is that you can configure it to suit your needs.
Linear extension is one of our faves too… 😉

Same compact mode is very well made
😍 That "Team Time" command is fabulous. I need it.
I loved that camera preview is so nice, would definitely use before going into meetings.
Also would love to show the Raycast community on how I use Raycast on daily basis, extensions, and some of the scripts I wrote over the years. ✌
Send a message to Pedro or Bruno in our community Slack channel and we can set this up! 😊
A setting would be cool but i personally think the size of the window is perfect.

Damn that’s a great idea, i’d love that
I bet this is doable as an extension, but built in could be cool too
I actually want the Raycast window to be bigger. I think it's would be very nice to have window size settings in Raycast. 👍
the size of the raycast window is perfect, please don't change! Great video, very interesting to see the sneak peak on references on AI
This series is really great. It has taught me so many tricks and boosted my productivity. Can't wait for the Wes Bos episode!
I like Pedro. I subscribed because Pedro speaks four languages and just seems super chill.
That's very kind, thank you! 😁
Nerdy rants aside, what I use the most are the simple but extremely useful built-in tools: dictionary, calculator, unit and currency conversions, sleep/caffeinate/sleep displays, open app, snippets for website searches, and text expansion.
I just started using raycast today. I love all the extensions in the community. I would like a setting to have a larger window.

This is super dope... Added a few things that he uses. Need more content like this.
can't wait for the AI updates!
Hi! Great video! Also loved the key stroke casting on the screen, what did you use to do that?
Thank you! We actually add the keystrokes manually in post, so that we can highlight only the meaningful ones and keep them on screen for however long makes sense ☺️
Loved the video!
The window size is perfect IMO. Please dont mess with it (or give some setting etc)
Does the AI response keep memory of previous conversations? That would be amazing because than it slowly becomes you and understands a larger context over time.
The window size is perfect on my 14”, 16”, and 27” monitors. Don’t see any need to change it
I am agree

SO let me be honest....its mind blowing what can you do with Raycast....it absolute miracle for productivity

Always great! Love these!
Any chance that you can expand on how the Weekly Updates extension works?
I'd like the Raycast search bar to be compact, just like the size of spotlight search
You can enable Compact Mode in Raycast settings
@@raycastapp I mean a bit more shorter width and length than the original compact mode
a size setting would be nice. I'd make it smaller since I mostly use my mac's display. Kind of like a more compact packing of stuff.
Awesome. Would love to use that Team Time command!
Here's a template to build your own: www.raycast.com/templates/team-time
My favorite extension is definitely Homebrew
🏠🍻
Regarding the Raycast window size he´s talking about at around 12:00 I think an setting would be great, how many lines you want to be shown.
I’ve been a Mac user a little over a year. Raycast is easily my favorite Mac app. I just miss the Light Saber 😂
I say we should get it back
I like the Window size, on my MacBook Air screen and when I’m hooked up to a bigger screen.
the size of raycast is perfect imo
My favorite yt channel
WOAH!
Hi there, I have a hard time of adding Year in Progress at the Raycast bar like the CEO, may I know what's the APP? Please help
A smaller size window setting is what I need!
What font was he using in Vscode?
I'd love that hibob integration and also Team time but can't seem to find these in the store. Are they just private plugins?
Yes, at the moment they’re part of our Raycast Team store. We’ve been talking about making the hibob public, though, so watch out for that 😃
@@raycastapp hey what about the team vacation extension? it would be really useful :) Thanks!

Great video. Raycast is so useful. Can you share the template or Year in Time please? It’s great !!
It's an extension that you can install via www.raycast.com/thomas/year-in-progress - Enjoy!
Is Team time an application or extension I can get somewhere? I have a team in multiple time zones and love that functionality.
We have created a template that anyone can use to create an extension for their team: www.raycast.com/templates/team-time

Tell me how the camera command works?
"Open Camera" → see yourself 😁 Maybe with a few extra options, such as "Take photo", filters, etc.
🎉🎉
I made that one a shortcut
Don't worry, it's not too big! It's perfect 👌
Waiting for the AI update
If Thomas could help me with how the glasses are called, I would appreciate immensely!
They’re from Thierry Lasry 👓
@@raycastapp Thank you!
Size is fine but a setting would be great 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I’d love to show my setup - I am in sales and have basic stuff but it’s super optimized to run full 8 hour shift
How do you setup this Team Time favorite?
At the moment, Team Time is an internal command we have available for the Raycast team only 😄
Here's a template to build your own: www.raycast.com/templates/team-time
A short video tutorial on this would be extremely helpful. Thanks!@@raycastapp
This did not help me at all. I'm new to mac and I'm trying to determine whether I will use Raycast or Alfred
I had been using Alfred for over 5 years. IMHO, Raycast is far easier to customize, moves faster and has a more active developer community than Alfred. I say that with a lot of sadness as I LOVED Alfred. I can’t go back now.
Just set up the Alt+[First Letter of Application] shortcuts. Nice!

Nooo! The option key gives you access to tons of special characters like: ™£¢∞§¶≠œ∑®†¥øπß∂ƒ©∆¬…æΩ≈√∫µ≤≥÷€‹›‡°-Œ‰Ø∏»Æ◊¿
Nice, I have ⌥ A For AI Chat, ⌥ S for Slack, ⌥ D for Downloads folder, ⌥ N for Floating Notes
Oké next video no hands 🙌
hey how can I get that wallpaper💯
Check out www.raycast.com/wallpapers
@@raycastapp thankyou very much
🔥
13" macbook user here, window is defenetley NOT too big
Since when is Bjergsen Raycast's CEO
The emoji screen is too big - there is too much space between the emojis so it takes longer to scroll through them - please make more compact
Did you know you can make it more compact in the extension settings? Is the smallest setting too big for you still? 😄
"Raycast CEO admits to slacking on the job."
peep the cute ass cat in the background
Oh this is cool 🥳❤🙏🌈 EMOJI HELPERS
On the contrary, the window is too small. Especially height-wise!
At least let me see 10-12 results.
I find Alfred to be far more customizable than raycast
