@@ragnhildmd5063 I didn't had a clue of what the fuck was going on because I picked up the game a year later again after I rage uninstalled in the fight of the funeral because I was accidentally playing on hard lol
The original game in one cutscene in exposition did say Nishiki lost everything he cared about surprisingly quick once Kiryu went to prison, his sister's death being what broke him into becoming such a ruthless bastard. But agreed in that I just couldn't feel sympathetic since Nishiki in the PS2 game always felt moreso a depressed dude with a lot of envy towards Kiryu that he just doesn't give the former best friend vibe. Think like Shin in Fist of the North Star...How was that guy Kenshiro's best friend prior to the post apocalypse when he betrays Ken so easily? ...Zero definitely made me reevaluate Nishiki and the backstory in Kiwami was depressing. I ended up caring for Nishiki and now felt awful he shares the same trait Kiryu has that life constantly punches you in the balls (otherwise, Kiryu would long be happy in retirement and wouldn't be in sequels) but lacks the willpower to tough it out like Kiryu does.
Funnily, the same rings true the other way too. If you've played all the other games and then play Y0 (like me), some fights feel bad as well, like when you have to beat up Sera and Kashiwagi (ESPECIALLY that one) as Majima. It's not on the same level as fighting Nishiki after Y0 though.
KrimzonFlygon1 also the shit he says in the English dub of the original kinda doesn’t sit right with me. “Were you someones prison bitch?” “10 years in the joint made you into a pussy”. Just seemed out of character
@@Deuce972 Ya damn right. Someone told me to start from 1, but I feel like this has so much more impact when you have the origin stories of these characters
This morning i got to this fight and my gf was beside me and as soon as the music kicked in and the fist were about to collide and the title card popped up..i had to pause the game because i was bawling so hard and she kept trying to get me to keep playing boii it was hard
The saddest part about Nishiki’s character arc is that you can’t blame him. With all the patriarchs shaming him, his own men disrespecting him, and his sister slowly dying, nothing could stop him from becoming the villain.
kiryu whole story arc was abt finding himself finding a way to step out of kazama shadow and grow a name as himself not kazama not no one it was abt making choices for himself, nishiki on the other hand had nearly no choice throughout it all and the choice he did had was always influenced by others
@@The-Furry-Slayer What do you mean? When you say "Except for Kiryu" are you saying Kiryu is at fault for everything that happened? If so, how? Kiryu has done nothing except support Nishiki. Kiryu literally went to jail for 10 years for him.
@@Rocky-oq9cy that's what I mean, the pressure of "being Kiryu" fell on Akira's shoulders, if you remember, in the kiwami cinematics it looks like because of the lack of Kiryu and the weight of being as good as him (reaching a sick point where the patriarchs wanted him to be identical to Kiryu) was what made him fall apart more than once. Now, if Kiryu hadn't been in prison (because it's true, he went to prison for the murder that nishikiyama caused) he could have been Nishiki's pillar and support as a brother always is. That is my point, knowing Kiryu we know that he would not mind refuting in front of his high command in order to help his brother, with those actions and attitudes, simply and simply Nishiki would have had no reason to become cruel and evil, although if we wanted to give a point to the plot, perhaps he would talk with Kiryu about the possibility of getting riches and power on his own. If it involved Kiryu, maybe he wouldn't accept and would start a certain personal conflict with him. We also have the love conflicts that are already mentioned in the series, so there would be another reason Although to be honest, not as good as him at becoming apathetic because he's tired of being constantly compared to others and expecting him to be someone else that he simply isn't. Well that would be my point friend.
@@ComicWriter-ml3qt his full name is Kazuma Kiryu. His first is Kazuma, his last is Kiryu. In Japan, you're addressed by your last name. In writing, your last name is written first as well. This doesn't apply to foreigners. Japanese people only call people by their first names if they're EXTREMLY close to each other on an emotional level.
You guys made it harder to explain lol. Kiryu Kazuma is how it originally is, and Kazuma is his given name. He sometimes called Kazuma Kiryu because it’s a translation, and the rest of the world doesn’t actually say their family name first. If you want evidence then look for Kiryu’s nickname in the pocket circuit world, “Kazuma-kun” to inisuate closeness and casualness.
I wish after Nishiki stabbed Jingu his hair fell back down to the old style to represent that for his final moments, he was back to being the man Kiryu loved as a brother.
Yúř Ñeřø It wouldn’t have been though, like at all. That’s the most fucking heavy handed thing they could’ve done 😂. Especially after they already did it when he went bad. Even for Yakuza that would’ve been a bit much.
This fight hurt a lot. I hated him for what he did to Kazama and Reina but at the same time I couldn't shake the thought that this was the guy who cried when he was about to kill Kiryu in the woods. The guy who stopped Kiryu from crossing that line. This is how you build a villain. Hateable but still loveable.
I think the most painful part is that you just _know_ he's a good person deep down. (At least from his point of view) he was just neglected or abanoned by almost everyone he ever cared about. The girl he liked disappeared without a trace, his brother was in prison for a crime he didn't even commit, his sister was on the verge of dying and the man he saw as his father refused to help him out. He tried everything he could to save his sister, even going so far as to bow down to his own subordinates, only for the doctor he collected the money for to backstab him and skip town, which lead to his sister dying. And then, while he was still in the process of mourning her death and was _literally about to take his own life,_ one of his subordinates comes in and shamelessly mocks him for it. I'm pretty sure thats enough to make even the kindest person snap. And what did he do to deserve all that? He saved the girl he liked from getting raped right in front of him and refused to stand by idly while his sister was dying. And I think that's the most tragic part. In a different world, where he wasn't forced to shoot Dojima, none of this would've ever happened. He did some terrible things, don't get me wrong, but you just can't help but feel sorry for him. He was a kind man in a world full of terrible people. And after all the shit he had to go through, I'm pretty sure anyone would've snapped.
They explained it in yakuza 4. Basically Jingu and Munakata stole it and laundered it from a bank, and transferred it to Akiyama to make it look like he stole it. Munakata needed it to build more private prisons and pay off the Yakuza
He advise Kiryu about don't cross dangerous line by hit Shibusawa as once you enter it,there is no turning back. But in Y1,Nishiki is already cross dangerous line.
The way Nishiki jigs around after he knocks his sworn brother to the ground is just full of the exaggerated swagger of a Japanese crime boss. It gives me goosebumps every time he does it.
The clouds symbolising how blind he was, and the wild lightning showing his impulsiveness. Yet the aura is a deep blue, a reminder that this is still Nishiki.
Nishiki's story is written in his back, the tattoo on his back of the Koi fish trying to go upstream just to became a dragon but dies in his journey All that Nishiki wanted is to become like Kiryu
The worst thing about it is I'm sure he knew her feelings I mean if I were to choose based of what I've seen of both Reina and Yumi id pick Reina tbh because while Yumi is sweet and kind we don't get much besides that and I know technically Reina got 2 games to develop a little more but still I think Nishiki flopped on that one among other things
Ya know what sucks... Nishiki died looong before the bomb going off. The man you see here isnt the bro Kiryu had in 0. During those 10 years kiryu spent in jail, his brother was slowly dying. When Kiryu got out, it was already too late. His cool, fashion-advice-giving, ride or die, JUDGEMENT singing partner....is gone.
Exactly why he’s one of my favorite characters. He was broken. A lost cause. But the thing that I appreciate most is that he helped Kiryu find himself in the process.
I’m 100000% glad Yakuza 0 was my first game in the series cause it made this fight so much more impactful, I got chills as the battle card rolled in and choked up during his sacrifice While I think the bosses in this game were a huge downgrade from 0 *cough* Shimano *cough* Jingu, this Boss makes up for all of them wholeheartedly
Well, Yakuza Kiwami is a *remake* of original game, so they couldn't really make _remade_ the plot but they make some things like adding Nishiki's flashbacks.
I agree with everything you said, but Shimano wasn't that bad. I loved having a gang on my side go head to head against Shimano's gang. It was hype. And he was an annoying asshole so I enjoyed kicking his ass.
“... I’ll make it to the top.” This is the moment NIshiki dies. Nishikiyama was told by Kiryu in Yakuza 0 to take his head and rise to the top of the Tojo Clan. When he finally breaks down in the broken man he is today, Nishki does what Kiryu told him to do all those years ago.
Reason for that is that RGG had no idea the game would turn into a franchise in Yakuza 1. They genuinely thought it would be a one and done deal. Game sold like crazy and Sega begged them to do a sequel. Rest is history. If you notice they were more careful with the characters that lived (Date, the stardust guys, Majima) after Yakuza 1. Toshihiro Nagoshi is actually on record stating that had he known the game would turn into a franchise he would not have killed as much characters in Y1. He would have given Nishki a redemption arc and kept Kazuma around for a few games.
he prevented kiryu in yakuza 0 and succeeded. but kiryu failed to prevent him in yakuza 1. nishiki is such a good brother, i wish he lived till the end of kiryu's tale
@@OwysGaming take a look of Nishiki and Kiryu's tattoos, then look at Ichiban's tattoo. Take the color and head of Kiryu's dragon Seiryu, the Azure Dragon, the body of Nishiki's Red koi and also Ichiban's way to become a leyend, basically entire Y7 story reflected in one tattoo.
What makes the scenes before the fight even more sad is from 2:37. You can visually see how Nishiki is absorbing and even silently agreeing to what Yumi’s saying. He *knows* that he’s in the wrong here, but it’s simply too late to back down in his perspective.
It was the reverse in the original, I think it’s more meaningful here. Dragon’s red aura is pointed out by Majima if you finish all of his stuff, as if it represents the fire inside Kiryu. Whereas the red aura on Nishiki in the original might’ve been the red koi on his back reaching the gate atop the yellow river and becoming a dragon, it being blue here shows that he’s anything but, and this path he’s chosen is what’s keeping him from becoming the dragon
Man, at 2:39 it looks like Nishiki was actually realizing what he's done. But the moment Yumi mentions Kiryu all of his jealousy and insecurities come rushing back.
14:36 At the very end Nishiki says to Kiryu "Let me do this." He is ASKING Kiryu. Not telling. He has spent his whole life being overshadowed by Kiryu, The Dragon of Dojima. Right here he is begging Kiryu to let him be the one making the decision. All he ever wanted was to be recognized as his own person. Not just "Kiryu's brother" In that moment he was finally in charge. He died as the one who stole the 10 billion right under the Yakuza's noses and decided they didn't deserve it. He spread the 10 Billion across Kamurocho, benefiting the area greatly.
What hurts most is, throughout the entire fight Kiryu doesn't hate Nishiki. He resents his actions, sure, but if you pause the game during the fight it even shows his thoughts are "Nishiki... It's time to end this, brother." He even thinks about him as his kyodai whole they're actively fighting. Then, when Nishiki is about to sacrifice himself, he begs him not to do it. It's just so sad to see Kiryu desperately try to bring Nishiki back from the brink and fail.
I like how Nishiki was beginning to have second thoughts when Yumi said achieving his goals won’t help him until she pressed the Kiryu button. She shouldn’t have done that.
To be fair, eventually somebody was going to have to acknowledge Kiryu in Nishiki's presence. If it wasn't her, it'd have been somebody else. And you could make an argument it's about the timing, but let's be real -- what are the odds that there will ever be a time that any comparison to Kiryu wouldn't set him off? If he lived to a ripe old age he'd be on his deathbed, senile and half-deaf, and someone would say something he'd mishear as "Kazuma" and he'd start frothing.
"Welcome to the Salty Spitoon how tough are ya?" "I fought Nishiki without crying." "Yeah, so?" "I played Judgement during the fight" "Oh..right this way, sir"
Interesting to note, the guy with the cardboard is the same guy at the beginning of the game. And I think Nishiki shooting the bomb was for two reasons, one: it gives him the control of his life he's been craving, and two: he took the shot that landed his bro in prison all those years ago. This was his way of finally owning up to it. Took balls, too
@@KVJ-w7h 0 was a big help to find a little more respect for him too. And if it weren't for the flashbacks of how he transformed, he'd just be seen as an asshole that you fight at the end. I think in the end, he proved to be a Dragon like his bro, just a different stream of problems
Noob: not attacking nishiki while red aura. Average: picking up weapon to beat nishiki while the red aura. Pro: Special heat action before nishiki even recovers 1% of his hp. Next level pro: letting nishiki recover to beat him even harder.
Not really, if he won he would’ve became a dragon. Like the tattooist mentioned some shit about the Koi turning into a dragon when passing the dragons gate
@@zersky495 That makes a whole lot of sense now...I always wondered how a small fish turned into this terrifying sea serpentine monster. All I got from back in the day was he turned that way like how banner turns into the hulk...anger.
This fight is so painful, it's unreal. The whole time I knew this was coming but kept wishing it could end some other way. I just wanted my drinking buddy back, and now he's gone. The man I had known was long gone but I still miss him.
Nishikiyama's style is a combination of multiple one's. You can see his brawler's movements like in 0, some karate blows, and ... Kiryu's Dragon style as well. And he has Shibusawa's taunt from Rush. He is one and only boss who use multiple style without changing stance and heat.
I think Yakuza 0 and the Nishiki flashbacks sprinkled throughout the game really helped with this fight. Because I can't imagine Nishiki being that impactful to the player in the original game, other than "big bad boss" guy. Even if the game told me that he was Kiryu's best friend, their interactions in the entire game were so limited and it was always Nishiki just being a colossal dick that I would've found it hard to believe that this was Kiryu's friend (because the flashbacks and 0 didn't exist then). He also barely shows up, he showed up in the actual present day for like maybe 5-6 times? Other than that, it was still a sick-ass fight.
The thing is, he redeemed himself by destroying the 10 billion alongside Jingu and himself. I don't remember his last line as he shot the bomb, but I remember that the correct interpretation (or somewhat correct) of what he's saying is, "I know I've done some very shitty things over the past 10 years, so please let me do one last honorable thing."
I couldn't agree more. I mean, I got into the series through Kiwami because I wanted to start the franchise where all the other long-runners started it, and while I am grateful it gave me a dose of Majima in all his unadulterated, insane glory with no context or explanation for it, a part of me seriously wishes I started with 0 just to give Nishiki's descent into villainy here more impact for me. Not to say that the flashbacks through Kiwami didn't make me feel and sympathize for the guy, because they certainly did when you take a step back and look at everything he was put through with no break. Not only did he inherit a job that was clearly originally meant for his best friend, one he himself was far more eager to attain, but he has to deal with his sister's failing health, his subordinates clear lack of respect for him, the fact that *everyone,* from said subordinates to his father figures, kept constantly comparing him as inferior to Kiryu, and the fact that Kiryu keeps getting constant hype and respect for Dojima's murder. It was clear to see that all that bubbling resentment of Kiryu and everyone else boiled over and caused him to snap when he got unknowingly screwed out of the one way of saving his sister's life. But while I won't deny the flashbacks shown throughout Kiwami made me sympathize with Nishiki, I could never truly feel bad for him because, despite what he went through, he still betrayed Kiryu and his morals after he sacrificed 10 years of his life to cover for what he did. But when I played 0, it genuinely hurt to see him and Kiryu paling around so happily and seeing him just have his back the entire way through the game with the knowledge of how their relationship was going to end. If I played 0 and went into Kiwami with no knowledge that Nishiki was going to be a major antagonist and final boss, then I have no doubt my heart would've been broken by what he became and what drove him to this, especially with how somber 'For Who's Sake' is and with those flashbacks littered throughout the fight. Honestly though, I can't imagine any people who played 1 back when it was first released felt all that bad for Nishiki, because, like you said before, everything that made us sympathize with him, such as his friendship with Kiryu in 0 and the flashbacks showing what drove him to villainy, were nonexistent in the original release.
Yup I agree.. when I first got into the series and watched a walkthrough of Yakuza 1 before 0 and kiwami came out I only thought of Nishiki as an annoyance and a dick but with these additions of yakuza 0 and the kiwami flashbacks they make it more of a build up to a bigger fight.. like "come on bro.. let's settle this"
My favorite part about this video is that devilleon7 gives Nishiki a fair, fist-to-fist fight. Other players (myself included) would just go crazy on him with all the weapons that we brought in with us and all of the furniture laying around.
I remember this fight so well. I sucked at all the other fights but I got into this one so much that my fight with Nishiki was nothing less than a nonstop barrage of punches from both sides. Everytime Kiryu would get knocked off his feet I somehow managed to activate the cat-like reflexes skill everytime to land him on his feet and fly back in there to join the barrage again.
Everyone is focusing on Nishiki here, which makes sense I mean it is his final moments, but when I see this I think about Kiryu and how much he has lost. How many people he cared for dying... Nishiki, Tachibana, Reina, Yumi, Shinji, Kazama. Yet he remains morally pure. He goes out of his way to help people that he doesn't even know. If he sees someone being wronged, he will always be there to make it right, sometimes risking his own life in the process.
I love that like, the 10 billion yen was 10 billion literal yen. Not 10 billion yen worth of assets, or in a foreign bank account or something, just a literal fortune hanging out in a closet. And the only way to get rid of it is apparently with a bomb. And also a guy tries to redeem himself by blowing up said bomb, even though it totally could have killed the people standing right next to it. I love Yakuza.
@@greenoverlords3794 Tbf the devs didn’t say “Kiryu has never killed anyone” they said “Kiryu has never murdered someone” which mean completely different things if you think about it, making the statement completely true.
Are we all ignoring the fact that Nishiki was calmy considering and weighting Yumis words at 2:37 until Yumi compared Nishiki to *Kiryu* and Haruka, and *then* , he got pissed?
She pressed the kiryu button. From what i see he needed acknowledgement of some form, that he took things into his own hands. Instead he got compared to kiryu again, put back in his shadow. And boom mans angry.
@@ToasterNinja they literally use fliphones in the series up until yakuza 6 where they finally admit smartphones exist. Wifi exiting that long is irrelevant fool
The story of Nishikiyama is quite a sad one, to see a man brought down by his insecurities to such a low level that he had little trouble killing those he once called his closest friends, all in the effort to gain the recognition that he felt he deserved and break out from under Kiryu's shadow. But everyone just told him the same thing. "You're not Kiryu" Even Yumi does it just in the cutscene prior, once again pretty much saying he isn't like Kiryu and throwing it in his face. And yet Kazama still gave him a family knowing they wouldn't respect him, watched as Nishiki kept going down that dark path without saying a word but when Kiryu was in trouble that same man broke his back from prison to make sure his pet project was kept safe. Went out of his way to make sure Kiryu was kept safe and didn't lift a finger to make sure Nishiki would be okay, no he threw him in the deep end and shrugged his shoulders when he drowned.
All very good points. AT THE SAME TIME THOUGH, you can also make the argument that Kazama knew Nishki wasn’t honest with him. Kazama and Sera KNEW the story with Dojima’s death wasn’t adding up. This is somewhat demonstrated that they simply banished Kiryu and didn’t expel him after killing a Tojo captain. Kazama knew that no matter how things get heated, Kiryu NEVER kills. He might have been disappointed how Nishki (the only person to walk out of the ordeal scot free) wasn’t being honest with him. Nishki could have revealed all that had happened to Kazama, but he didn’t. Further more, Kazama is an old school Yakuza who is somewhat honor bound. He probably thought letting another man take the fall for your mistake is a colossal dick thing to do. The game HINTS that Kazama had an idea what happened all along, he just needed the confirmation when he was helping Yumi. While you can also say Kazama put Nishki in a family that didn’t respect him, I also viewed that as a TEST to Nishki. Make them respect you while remaining honor bound. Nishki failed that test. Had Nishki come clean to Kazama about all this and took the fall for the matter, THEN you’d see Kazama step in to help him. My two cents anyway. Love these Yakuza discussions.
@@Publicenemy85this is why i don't like nishiki, I don't get why people are so sympathetic with him. Kiryu had to endure tougher shit in yakuza 0, and he didn't become a monster like this guy. Now he even sacrifices 10 years of his life in jail for this guy, only for him to be the biggest asshole that is so jealous of his sworn brother that sacrificed so much for him
@@maharta8458 100% I think I’m actually one of the few people whom didn’t exactly feel any sympathy for Nishki. Don’t get me wrong the death of his sister was horrible, but Nishki had so many other options and he chose the path of darkness. It’s understandable why he went dark, but it doesn’t mean he made the right choice.
Kazama wasn't sabotaging Nishiki. My read into it was always that he genuinely wanted him to succeed. He wanted him to earn the respect of his subordinates and grow to be a great captain. Nishiki cracked under the pressure and let it consume him. He isn't someone to be sympathized with. He hurts. Yes but he also hurt others so much more
letting Nishiki heal to used as many heat actions, using moves from 3 styles, not spamming tiger drop or any same combo and heat action, used the Dragon of Dojima Kiwami heat action at the last heal of Nishiki, and Tiger drop at last in order to finish the fight with movie qte, nearly perfect gameplay.
I felt bad for Nishiki. After Kiryu got locked up he went through hell. With the family that he was supposed to run yet the boys they gave him didn't respect him at all, then, with the captains and Reina all saying they wished Kiryu was still there right in front of his face like he wasn't even there, and the thing that pushed him over the edge was when that doctor screwed him over for money to "save" his sister but, used the money to settle his debt with the yakuza so he basically got back the same money he gave to the doctor for his sister and the doctor skipped town in an instant and when she died that was the last straw and he went over to the dark side never to return. I feel for him honestly that would've been too much for any many to keep together.

Rhonjomyne yeah i kinda thought that to, because nishiki is not a fighter, sure he can fight, but i don’t think he would survive the assassin in the prison.
@@thedemon6281 The assassin wasn't meant to kill Kiryu. It was a gesture by Sera to say that Kiryu's life belonged to him and no other family has permission to kill him.
8:03 and 9:12 you can honestly feel the heavy weight of each of those punches. And after seeing their adventures together in 0 has to be the most well written villains in the series.
fun fact: the first QTE is copied directly from Aizawa's final bossfight in Yakuza 5 (you can even see Kiryu looking above where Nishiki's are because Nishiki's model is smaller than Aizawa's) The second QTE is a slightly tweaked version of Kuze's QTE in his 5th fight from Yakuza 0
@politicalchair487 that i already knew and it's kinda bad that they reused those animations for this fight. But since Kiwami was on the same engine as 5 and 0 they can literally copy and paste them over.
After playing 0 after Kiwami, I really regret not playing 0 first since I'm sure the build up from 0 to Kiwami's climax would've been so much more intense. The saddest thing about playing 0 second to me was fighting Nishiki as Majima
I played yakuza kiwami 1 first and I already felt bad about this fight between kiryu and nishiki and I was in tears about the ending of this game. It was bittersweet. Then along comes yakuza 0 and makes all those feelings come back. I never hated nishiki. I just felt terribly sorry for him. Those 10 years broke him badly.
15:00 Since this is a remake that came after Yakuza 4, I really wish that they made the homeless character look more like Akiyama in his homeless days. That would've been an awesome tie-in for the future events that'll come.
This is basically yakuza's dante vs vergil it's the best because it's so personal and the boss is very well designed and that complements the emotional value of the fight as well.
My favorite part about this fight is that up to this moment Kiryu does not want to fight Nishki. He only wants to know why he did what he did and how could he turn out like this. And once his old friend tells him everything he needs to know, Kazuma is like “Alright...take that jacket off. I’m not getting blood on it”
That fight was saddened me when both best friends fight to the death... I felt sorry for Nishiki...he was a cool BFF for Kiryu since Yakuza 0...but pride has a benefit for the Yakuza underworld that turned that poor guy into a monster with a desperate ambition to reach to the top
Nishiki is what Kiryu could have been if he was much more ambition filled, in addition of channelling his inner conflicts in much more destructive ways.
This fight is heartbreaking. I couldn't, and still can't, enjoy the celebratory hug/confession/family reunion at 10:11 because of how sad I was for Nishiki. He lost everything, everyone, even himself, and as he agonizes on the floor, once more defeated by the beloved brother whose shadow he lived in his entire life, he has to see and listen to the woman he loved, well, love on the man he could never compare to.
The first yakuza game I played was 0, and I fell in love with the story, and how heart wrenching it is. This fight was one of the most emotional boss battles I ever played after playing through 0 and kiwami I’d like to add this series seems to enjoy killing multiple likeable characters in a single cutscene that leaves me fucking shocked, and it somehow manages to do it perfectly
The fkn flashbacks are what killed me like this is obviously painful for both of them, but from Kiryu’s perspective he says “I have to see for myself” it just shows how much love he had for his brother, how much faith he had in him.
I wish that before he sacrificed himself, Nishiki's hair went down and made him look like the Nishiki we all know and love from 0 That wouldve hurt a whole lot more
I wanted to cry this whole fight. I felt betrayed by Nishki, but also very proud of him making it so far even though he lost everything dear to him, his sister, his brother, his love, his stepfather and in the end, himself. It wasn't the typical "I want kill you" bossfight, it was more like "Show me how much you grew in strenght, brother".
Playing the games from Yakuza 0,1 till the end of story Yakuza 6... It was worth the time, the sadness, the joy. Thank You Kiryu for the past 13 years...

The saddest part about Nishiki’s character arc is that you can’t blame him. With all the patriarchs shaming him, his own men disrespecting him, and his sister slowly dying, nothing could stop him from becoming the villain.
Totally agreed. It was sad to see the Nishiki from 0 to becoming a villain but those things you mentioned just pushed him over the edge
kiryu whole story arc was abt finding himself finding a way to step out of kazama shadow and grow a name as himself not kazama not no one it was abt making choices for himself, nishiki on the other hand had nearly no choice throughout it all and the choice he did had was always influenced by others
Nothing but Kiryu, if he just had his brother it would have been a completely different story.

I wish after Nishiki stabbed Jingu his hair fell back down to the old style to represent that for his final moments, he was back to being the man Kiryu loved as a brother.
you don't need a hair style to know the man. His smile and eyes in the end, you can tell that's old Nishiki. Even if it's too late
Yúř Ñeřø It wouldn’t have been though, like at all. That’s the most fucking heavy handed thing they could’ve done 😂. Especially after they already did it when he went bad. Even for Yakuza that would’ve been a bit much.
Yúř Ñeřø All I’m saying is that it’s not needed. The scene already works without that idea. It’s not cringy, it’s just unnecessary.
Wishful thinking, but Nishiki did that because Jingu shot Yumi, and he remembered his own words from 0
@@SaberRexZealot This is the same series that had Kiryu change suit colors to match his morality. The hair thing isn't farfetched.
I agree plus the moment I saw what happened to Reina my expectations for nishiki to change just shattered completely
Or someone you love to hate. That is a good one too.

Nishiki's attack color being the deepest hue of blue is some really nice contrast to Kiryu's Dragon of Dojima's red aura.
Fuck Yumi
It's basically his dragon of dojima style (or Koi of Tojo rather idk) an algamations of his three styles
I played the original and the only reason I cared about Nishiki was because I watched Kiwami's cutscenes, he barely appears at all in the original
Yup I agree.. when I first got into the series and watched a walkthrough of Yakuza 1 before 0 and kiwami came out I only thought of Nishiki as an annoyance and a dick but with these additions of yakuza 0 and the kiwami flashbacks they make it more of a build up to a bigger fight.. like "come on bro.. let's settle this"
Rohan Kishibe and 『Heaven's Door』 he even pointed a gun at him
My favorite part about this video is that devilleon7 gives Nishiki a fair, fist-to-fist fight.
I'm not letting those weapons go to waste.
The Dragon vs the Koi, all hands
Noobs. Though weapons can be crappy in certain games like kiwami 2. Weapons are much more lethal in 3
What's more, he saved the Tiger Drop for the coup de grace. That's honor.

"You're not Kiryu"
Even Yumi does it just in the cutscene prior, once again pretty much saying he isn't like Kiryu and throwing it in his face.
He hurts. Yes but he also hurt others so much more
At 2:40 I saw a glimpse of the old nishiki, and he might’ve changed, but after hearing the words “like kiryu” he could never go back
letting Nishiki heal to used as many heat actions, using moves from 3 styles, not spamming tiger drop or any same combo and heat action, used the Dragon of Dojima Kiwami heat action at the last heal of Nishiki, and Tiger drop at last in order to finish the fight with movie qte, nearly perfect gameplay.
This fight was painful
Not because it was hard
But because of the events of Yakuza 0
15:06 So that's it? What? It's like some kind of... Sky Finance?
Josh Miller Wow.....you just did that....
Really? Well, at least I see how Akiyama might have come up with the name.
Clever.
it doesnt look like Akiyama though
Really wish they made him Akiyama, would have been the perfect cameo :(
I felt bad for Nishiki.
Yakuza 0: Kiryu finds his way as a Yakuza and strengthens bonds with whom he cares about
Yakuza Kiwami: Betrayal and everyone fucking dies
Me: :0..... :(
Yakuza 1 is the most depressing game in the series. I wasn’t ready for it after playing Yakuza 0.
That’s basically true.
Sooo should I play yakuza 0 after I played yakuza kiwami ??
@@rsyoutube9252If you want depression, play 0 first. If you want backstory/fan service, play Kiwami first
@@shilohperez808 u not innerstanding I'm asking if I should play 0 or move to yakuz kiwami 2 I wanna know if I'm missing out any thing
Pekora said it best
"The Dragon and the Koi should swim together, from the same pond, you guys should be swimming together!"
I’ve always thought about what would have happend if Nishiki took the blame for dojima’s death and got sent to prison instead of kiryu.
He doesn’t have the iron will that kiryu does
Then instead of "Ryu Ga Gotoku/Like a Dragon", the game title will be "Like a Koi"
@@basement-dwellingvirgin7099 "Nishikigoi ga gotoku"
Lol the tiger drop counter is so outrageously broken
like 70% for no heat, hahaha
KaisN Yup, glad it is tho lol! Needed at least one broken move since there is no broken level up system from Y0
@geo man I agree, Dojima style is complete useless before you can unlock Tiger Drop
Glad it’s there. The enemies pisses me off sometimes. Lmao
You guy forget tiger drop but it's brawlers version aka "lighting punch" or something
All it takes is timing fair trade for those with patience
8:03 and 9:12 you can honestly feel the heavy weight of each of those punches. And after seeing their adventures together in 0 has to be the most well written villains in the series.
@@ryzacobalion3622 just as I clicked the time stamps I get a toaster add
fun fact: the first QTE is copied directly from Aizawa's final bossfight in Yakuza 5 (you can even see Kiryu looking above where Nishiki's are because Nishiki's model is smaller than Aizawa's)
The second QTE is a slightly tweaked version of Kuze's QTE in his 5th fight from Yakuza 0
@politicalchair487 that i already knew and it's kinda bad that they reused those animations for this fight. But since Kiwami was on the same engine as 5 and 0 they can literally copy and paste them over.
Haruka wants to block the shot:
“Haruka!”
Yumi takes the hit:
*”YUMIIIIIIIIII!”*
Fun fact:Nishiki's voice actor felt like he is not voice acting anymore and embraces the character after reading his script for Kiwami
8:25 the way the flashbacks transition into the present day sync perfectly with the music, it’s wonderful
After playing 0 after Kiwami, I really regret not playing 0 first since I'm sure the build up from 0 to Kiwami's climax would've been so much more intense. The saddest thing about playing 0 second to me was fighting Nishiki as Majima
Me fighting my brother
My perspective: Kiryu vs thugs
My parents perspective:
I played yakuza kiwami 1 first and I already felt bad about this fight between kiryu and nishiki and I was in tears about the ending of this game. It was bittersweet. Then along comes yakuza 0 and makes all those feelings come back. I never hated nishiki. I just felt terribly sorry for him. Those 10 years broke him badly.
no one can hate Nishiki, even if you play the PS2 ver (at least i can never hate him)
Ten Years in the Joint may have turned Kiryu into a fucking pussy, but Ten Years without his bro turned Nishiki into a psychopath.
The pre chapter Nishiki scenes did him justice. So sad
nishiki: you call that a punch?
kiryu: N I S H I K I
_nishiki instantly dies_
7:13
Kiryu calm down! Nishiki just wanted to walk
Nishikiyama has the coolest looking Aura out of all the characters.
15:00 Since this is a remake that came after Yakuza 4, I really wish that they made the homeless character look more like Akiyama in his homeless days. That would've been an awesome tie-in for the future events that'll come.

ive always wanted to see this officially translated but now im just emotional
Sooo should I play yakuza 0 after I played yakuza kiwami ??
@@rsyoutube9252 yes, amazing game, and gives a lot of depth to nishiki
3:48 - 4:05 everything fits so well !! No matter how many times I watch this I still get goosebumps ❤️
😊
Arguably the most iconic fight of the entire series
Obviously Yakuza 0 helped a lot in elevating it
This is basically yakuza's dante vs vergil it's the best because it's so personal and the boss is very well designed and that complements the emotional value of the fight as well.
Sooo should I play yakuza 0 after I played yakuza kiwami ??
@@rsyoutube9252 Before,
I think the best part of this fight is when the flashback shots appear. It's pretty awesome stuff
Nishiki is what Kiryu could have been if he was much more ambition filled, in addition of channelling his inner conflicts in much more destructive ways.
10:21 Lol I can already see the ideas going through Haruka's head when she sees Yumi and Kiryu hugging each other.
The last time ive had these feels was playing MGS4 fighting Liquid at the end, Yakuza is a beautiful series.
I sometimes come back to the yakuza final boss videos just to watch the intros before the fights. So unbelievably hype. Peak Yakuza
I love how we can see Nisihiki’s transformation from 0. Which is subtly noted that his cut is way worse.
6:52 JESUS, this man just Joe Burrow'ed his knee.
Kiryu: I's over Nishiki! I have a high ground.

yakuza's equivalent of "have at u snake "
They had the perfect opportunity to include young Akiyama there at the end
Not to spoil it but he is at 15:00 the bum with cardboard is akiyama there was also a cutscene in Y4 showing Akiyamas backstory
@@alexpeci16 i never expect that homeless man to be the same guy who holds a lot of Yakuza members by himself.
Once you cross that line, you can never go back...
The first yakuza game I played was 0, and I fell in love with the story, and how heart wrenching it is. This fight was one of the most emotional boss battles I ever played after playing through 0 and kiwami
I’d like to add this series seems to enjoy killing multiple likeable characters in a single cutscene that leaves me fucking shocked, and it somehow manages to do it perfectly
once brothers but the circumstances of life made them like this..
But, for who's sake ?
I can almost hear nishiki sings "We are bad boys" during the fight. The feels
The only boss I don't mind having an insane amount of health bars.
The fkn flashbacks are what killed me like this is obviously painful for both of them, but from Kiryu’s perspective he says “I have to see for myself” it just shows how much love he had for his brother, how much faith he had in him.
I wish that before he sacrificed himself, Nishiki's hair went down and made him look like the Nishiki we all know and love from 0
That wouldve hurt a whole lot more
I wanted to cry this whole fight.
14:44 Goodbye Nishiki...................................😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😢😢😢😢
When your Wifi disconnected at the same time the explosion occurred I just bursts out laughing.
This fight was painful. I'm so sorry Nishki!
Yumi giving the pendant to Haruka is basically Kiryu approval to be Haruka's new dad
Daddy Kiryu
Playing the games from Yakuza 0,1 till the end of story Yakuza 6... It was worth the time, the sadness, the joy. Thank You Kiryu for the past 13 years...
