Painting the wheels was a good choice. Nice to see all these old toys we played with come back to life again. I am lucky enough to have 2 large storage boxes of my old Dinky , Matchbox and Corgi models, try looking on Ebay, can get a Shado Mobile for only a few pounds, Bob inspired me to start going through mine.

A lot of viewers don’t know about what the little arrow Is for at the bottom right hand side of the small screen... ^ to then touch it to get your info you add in the description section. Also you do this in your spare time, and you are good to try to answer. But you’re right, do some research yourselves, it’s all out there on the web. You’re a good man buddy, as a fellow builder, I did it by trial and error and learnt by watching people like you! What about putting in the driver and co-driver? I know that they did not have them, but I always wanted to have a driver inside as a kid. I also took off the treads to keep them in good condition. Oh, most importantly there are 2 washers that hold on the missile launcher. The top one is a regular one but the one underneath is a wavey spring steel. It has 4 high points and 4 low points. This allows the launcher to rotate and lock into one of the 4 positions. You could just place a light weight spring with the proper diameter to fit. You might find something to fit at a hardware store or in your spare parts bin.

Hi Barb I'm glad you did this one as I have a shadow 2 on the waiting list to be done I made a note of the Colour paints that you used so when I get round to doing it I'll be able to to get the paints and get started. Another great project Bob! I liked the colour change you made to the bogies. That brown tone didn't suit the model! And I think you were right to not take apart the trapdoor assembly. The Land Rover rescue was a good one. The beer can alloy is really good - I use the really thin ones to make Armco barrier for dioramas. The Dinky and Corgi Special Editions /TV/Movie vehicles are not my cup of tea, I'm afraid, but it is always enjoyable watching how you deal with the breakdown and work, whatever the model. as a note there where various models of this, smooth roof black or green , square paneled roof black or green.... Been looking on eBay etc...would be interesting to know which are more rare etc..either way great models to work with..I was always gutted that there was not a model of the actual UFO... or CID for that matter, would have liked a SkyDiver model too.... scratch build project on standby lol...

Hi Bob.just to say,you've done a great job on this.but....it would look better finished in a mettallic blue,like the later version.also,iirc in the actual series,it looked slightly blueish/silver.Anyway it does look ok.i've seen a lighted version of this.someone obviously made a code 3,as it had a Shado 1 decal on it.
Top job as always Bob. This is a real classic Dinky and lends itself well to customising. The UFO Tv models was actually a blue/grey colour but as we all know now Dinky had barrels of green paint on the cheap so they painted this, the interceptor and the Eagle transporter green. I’m sure youve seen the custom colour ones, got a few myself. Youve done this model of yours proud though as the darker green colour is better than the metallic one Used by Dinky. Great to see you back after the holiday break👍 I’ve also had to stop painting until the cold weather passes. Anyway, best wishes to you and Mrs W and hope she’s feeling well. Listening to the chat & prompted to respond. In my early days, I did the Bently 224 & chucked all in caustic soda. Not screen or seats I hasten to add. The soda seems to crack spun wheels. Same for polished wheels hard fixed to axles. Didn't notice before I dipped, but afterwards notice back wheels very sloppy on the axle. Think the caustic soda shrunk it. Stall off restoring chassis' if wheels dont come away
Great restoration, I wonder if anyone else has found good alternative paint equivalents for the original forest green & biege green paints like bob has ? 🤔
The colour turned out really well I thought - a nice little resto indeed. Although I think the real deal had a front bumper - perhaps you could make one - I'm sure it will look excellent. 😁 Stay safe mate - don't get vaccinated. 👍

Can I just check a detail out. I want to peen axles the same way you did in this video, but were you using the drill with hammer action, or just using rotation with no hammer?
