Ok what do I roast? This is better than 90% of the entries in the 200k contest. I'm kinda pissed you wrote this in like a half hour. I'm still working on 2 songs and it's taken 3 weeks. Great job and decent song!
Having Bjorn as a guest is just a blessing. Soilwork may have took so many musical avenues in their metal journey, i will still remain a fan of them for life.
Okay, this is going to sound weird but it honestly sounds like St. Vincent with the guitar riffs- well not all of them- it’s like AC/DC meets St Vincent but the groovy guitar part sounds like her
Vicky is my favorit on this. Such a BIG voice. Love it. Song came out pretty cool for being based on random drum beats.- Also, this, again, showed me, that I really, really need to brush up on my music theory...
The tune came together surprisingly well thought some of the drum patterns were a little out of place, but that’s what you had to work with. Great job!
Thanks for this Trey, another fun video. Kudos to you and the vocalists. Proof that a) talented musicians can create a song even from a random sequence of drum parts, and b) that this is no way a memorable song will come about. Seriously, thanks!!
Just Amazing! 🤩 So much talent on display here! Bjorn and Vicky are incredible singers, so cool to see part of their process and watch them track their own harmonies, insanely good. This has been and always will be, my favorite series of vids on the channel. Bravo Y’all!
Wow. From a songwriters perspective this is so unorthodox. But how this song turned out is out of this world. Such a fun and inspiring way to create musical magic. Both singer are truly amazing. I'm not sure how many times I've listened to this and just get more and more impressed every time. Sorry for commenting about you roasting a couple of videos ago. You probably don't remember. I haven't slept since :)
SOOOOO SICK!!!! Everyone sounds amazing!!! HUGE shoutout to Erik Seime for kicking ass on this mix & master!!! Go check out his band North of Never! :-)
Good job Trey and accomplices working with some odd beats dictated by a die roll. Trey, i particularly appreciate the songwriting advice about waiting to write the intro until after you have the main song, starting the process with the chorus, and writing the verse at full tilt and then working backwards to figure out how to make it more sparse for the first time around. And having the bridge start with a chord not yet used in the song. Thanks!
That's a really neat way of writing a song, and I'm going to totally steal it. Also, shouldn't be surprised, but both those vocalists sounded so good in just the room without processing. Always wished I could sing that well.
Well, I must admite that before the actual song came in, I was like "This is gonna be another basic rock ish track, that Bob Rock stuff that I don't like." Maaaaan, it turned out into a genious rock masterpiece, still a little basic, not in a bad way, really catchy and soulful. I also enjoyed the keyboards, since I am a pianist/keyboardist and I' want to become a rock/prog keyboardist/orchestrater, around that way. Last but not least, one of my fav parts, actualy my favorite part of the song, is the prechorus, that harmonizing old school prog or soul music thing was so smooth for me. GREAT JOB!!!!!
I love these, I need to do some. one of my best songs was written with a pre existing drum track, its a good way to come up with riffs and such you might not usually make
Great to see this series make a (probably all too brief) return. First time I saw these I actually tried it myself, and my dice rolls came out nowhere near as closely matched as Trey's seems to. Was kinda like going from Kenny Rogers to Slayer between bars. Either he's VERY lucky or he films the rolls a few times to get the result he likes LOL. Brilliant video again. Would love to see this return as a semi-regular feature, but whether he'd run out of guests is another matter.
I limit it to certain packs so they’re at least all metal or rock or whatever I’m going for, keeps it from being a TOTAL mess haha. This one was maybe the most straightforward because rock isn’t particularly crazy with the beats, a lot of 4-on-the-floor variations and small backbeat differences
I'd kinda figured that if I'm honest. Either way, another great video. I really enjoyed the last ones, and it was good to see it back again. It was your last ones that convinced me to get EZDrummer. Couldn't stretch to Superior but EZ does the job almost as well.
5:38 probably the best songwriting tip I have ever heard! I started making an epic intro almost a year ago and is sounds awesome but I really have no direction with it so I'm stuck.
I Told Jeff @ Sweetwater About this a Longtime ago,Jeff You Leaked Our Dice Parties LOL Jkn even down to the D&D Dice ,What we do is we get 5 -8 peeps in the jam hall and roll the dice & Just have fun, been doin it for 'almost 2 yrs now ,Love This Vid , Tip of the Hat & Happy Picking
Have watched a couple of these now and love the idea. I have tried doing the drums first but I over think it... this might be just what I need to get over that. Have you thought of doing another version where you replace the drum tracks with a real drummer to see the difference?
This is fantastic!! I was searching for these kind of videos for a while. So glad I found what I was looking for. I also write songs using virtual drums (toontracks). Imho, these videos are the best in this category (at least, what I was looking for). I will watch the whole playlist. You have really inspired me how to approach the process of songwriting using virtual instruments! You're the best 💯💯💯🎸🎸🎸🎶🎶🎶🎶 Now it's time to grab my guitar and make some music 🎸🎶🎸🎶🎸🎶🎸🎶🎸🎶
Wait a minute..... Isn't this something you do during toontracks November metal month?! Does this mean you will be doing this for 2 months or only this month? These are my personal favorite type of videos you make. Keep them coming 🤘
First of all, this is fantastic! Secondly, anyone else think that this sounds a bit like Winger covering like a Firehouse-type song, but adding a cool female vocalist? Some of the guitar grooves sound a ton like Bill Leverty and then male vocals and chord changes along with tempo sound very much like Winger. Regardless, I *really* enjoyed every part of this. Now I have to go follow Bjorn and Vicki wherever I can. Excellent work by everyone!
I have a few more weeks I think before you hopefully don’t roast my song too much live. Lol I guess I’ll just tune in every week and wait and see. Love this stuff. This generally how I write songs. Out of nowhere.
HO. LEE. SHIT! that was good. Like, should be top ten, grammy award winning, soundtrack of the summer blockbuster hit movie, first date then years later find the joy of sharing the song with your first born and they enjoy it as much as you, kind of good.
Now's your chance - ROAST ME BOYS!
You're looking very healthy and vibrant these days, Trey.
@@MattPula WORST ROAST but thank you haha
@@treyxaviermusic I'm gonna roast you with positivity. By the time I'm through with you you'll be fully cooked and will taste as good as you look!

I will try
This was so much fun and such an honor to sing with Bjorn on a song. Thank you! 🖤
Never listened to your music before but now that I've heard your voice it's on. Great job on the song it sounded great and liked your ideas!!
I see you two collaborating on some kinda prog rock AOR musical/soundtrack type thing. Bloody brilliant👏👏👏👏🤘
you absolutely crushed it!
Well, for me, I had never heard of you before, talk about a HUGE BONUS!!! Instant fan.
You killed it 🤟🏻
Having Bjorn as a guest is just a blessing. Soilwork may have took so many musical avenues in their metal journey, i will still remain a fan of them for life.
I think they’re one of the most consistently amazing bands out there, why they’re not the biggest band in the world is an absolute mystery to me
Its like Dungeons and Dragons for guitar nerds!!!
"You rolled a 17, you cast TREMOLO PICKING of DAHLIA at 190 BPM"
That was pretty sick! Jesus they are great vocalists and you make the writing process look easy. Great job all the way around!
These videos are always a big inspiration for writing! Thank you.
This sounded extremely good! Strid and Psarakis made a great combination.
Wow Vicky vocals blew me away!!!🤩😮 wasn’t expecting that!
This was a fun watch, it would make a great series!!
Great idea, I’ll go shoot 9 more of them so this one can be #10
Okay, this is going to sound weird but it honestly sounds like St. Vincent with the guitar riffs- well not all of them- it’s like AC/DC meets St Vincent but the groovy guitar part sounds like her

Great song! Love the mix!!! 😎
The result is very great! I didn t know her, ste s great vocalist....love the backing vocals
I enjoy these videos a lot! Probably my favorite video series you guys do.
Bjorn rules! Everything he does rocks!
The tune came together surprisingly well thought some of the drum patterns were a little out of place, but that’s what you had to work with. Great job!

Yes!!! Finally, been waiting seems like forever for another dice songwriting video.
Oh shit! This is awesome.
Fantastic 👍 great advice seeing the work flow and how collaboration can fit into the process, excellent stuff
Bjorn parts are crazy ! The recording takes are amazing !!!
He’s both awe-inspiring and spirit-crushing to watch
Awesome stuff, Trey! And boy have I forgotten how awesome Björn is (both singers are, but haven‘t heard of the antagonist before)
SOOOOO SICK!!!! Everyone sounds amazing!!! HUGE shoutout to Erik Seime for kicking ass on this mix & master!!! Go check out his band North of Never! :-)
Wow, so cool! Love seeing your thought process in this and man, that girl can sing!!!
That was incredible to witness! Great song, lady and gentlemen!
It would be awesome if this available on streaming platforms. I love this song. The riffs are amazing and Vicky and Bjorn worked great as a team.

This kicks ass actually. Very cool Trey.

That’s high praise! I guess that means they’re getting progressively better, which is what you want hahaha
You actually made a song with Bjorn damn I'm jealous. Soilwork and Night Flight Orchestra are seriously my favorite bands!
Excellent !!

When are these random drum groove songs gunna be released as an album on spotify?
Dude, that was great! thanks.
I thought about using the gong, but ended up not using it... Now, I have to return it, unused... Damn you!
Your a nut and I LOVE IT!! 🙃
Sounds awesome!
I was just wondering about this series goated 🤘🏽
My favorite part of the year
Gooooooooooooong! Just wanted to say that. Took lots of notes from this lesson

COOL!
this was an excellent end product

nice chorus harmonies. i dig it
