    It’s not overpowering it’s just a good masculine leathery rich spicy scent. Yes it’s over powering to fairies today who smell of cup cakes and Pantene but try whacking this on you in the mid 80’s when it was even richer. It lasted 2 days and chicks would not help but get very close to you.

      Hi Lewis Evans! It's great to hear from you, someone who likes a fragrance that I, personally don't. As I normally say, likes and dislikes differ from person to person. To me its flower notes are too much for my liking. But hey-ho, if Chanel Antaeus Pour Homme makes you smell good, feel good, and you get complements, so keep on wearing it! Thanks for your sincere and spontaneous comment. I enjoyed reading it. Would you have any fragrance recomendation that I perhaps should try? If so, I'd love to know what it is especially because I'm always looking for new fragrances.

    This is a mature man’s fragrance, if you’re fed up of the wishy washy fragrances of today, this is one for you. The dry down is great and will last in the skin all day with a very good projection. I think it’s a classic and deserves lot more love than it gets

      Hi Carl Durbin, first of all, thanks for your comment. I do appreciate it. I still don't know why my nose and my brain reject this fragrance. I still have it, but I can lie to you, I still don't like it. Who knows in the future my nose and brain will smell what you and others do that make you enjoy wearing Antaeus pour Homme.

    Antaeus is arguably the most masculine fragrance ever created. I’ve never smelled another men’s fragrance that has the darkness, boldness and sophistication like Antaeus has. The dry down is simply magnificent. However, it’s not a fragrance for young guys. Adolescent boys who go out with friends? No. Early 20 year-olds who go clubbing? No. It’s suits men best in their mid 30s and up, men who are confident and unabashed about men’s masculinity. There are no citrusy or light notes in Antaeus that you smell in younger scents like Cool Water.

      Agreed (based on a vintage version I have). I've smelled the new version in passing a while back but I don't think it's as bad as what's being described in this video.

    • @PerAllwin1963
      @PerAllwin1963 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@deluxelex9056 the newer version of Antaeus lacks the natural castoreum and much of the beeswax that the vintage version has. It’s still a great men’s fragrance, though they’re using synthetic castoreum now. In my opinion, the most masculine men’s fragrance ever created.

      Hi Per Allwin, It's been 7 days since you posted your passionate comment about Antaeus Pour Homme, but it's been so busy at my fulltime job I could not get back to you earlier - I really enjoyed reading you comment. It shows how much you like Antaeus by Chanel. I respect a person who knows and defends their smell. The only observation I'd like to make is that, in my personal opinion, whether one likes or dislikes a fragrance has all to do with personal taste and not age. For Example, I year a go I came across Laligue pour Homme Lion, which has a very mature scent; however, I like it and since I reviewed it on this channel some people have told me that it's for old men, but although I'm not an old man I do like it! However, I am a great believer that our tastes for things (sometimes even people) can change due to various reasons i.e. good or bad experiences - I, for example, like some fragrances because they remind me of nice places I visited or good times of my childhood. Antaeus pour Homme however reminds of my great grandma's perfume, which I didn't like then and still don't like now. But who knows one day, by whatever reasons, my taste changes and I begging to like Antaeus pour Homme by Chanel? Thinking this way, I still have the same bottle of Antaeus I reviewed in the video you watched! My theme is 'never say never'! Anyway, thanks for your comment. I honestly appreciate it. 👍

      @PerAllwin1963 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@forscentssake. I didn’t say that people who like a certain fragrance (like Antaeus) are of a particular age. I said that Antaeus is “more suited” for men aged 30 and up, not for young guys. Certainly there are some young men who love the scent of Antaeus and they should wear it if they enjoy it. Similarly, there are older men who don’t like it.

    • @forscentssake
      @forscentssake  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PerAllwin1963 OK, I guess I get what you mean, but I just thought a bit odd because you stated "...it's not a fragrance for young guys. Adolescent boys who go out with friends No. Early 20 year-olds who go clubbing No. It suits men best in their mid 30s and up..." So, because you emphasised age so much that kind of implied that guys below 30s wouldn't wear it or are not mature enough to wear it. Although I agree with you that Antaeus pour Homme isn't a fragrance one may choose to wear when going out clubbing it wouldn't be wrong or inappropriate if one did cos in the end of the day it's all about individual likes and dislikes. Now about maturity, I must say though, I've come across many immature men in their late 30s, late 40s and older. However, I kind of agree with you as it appears older men do show more maturity than most of the younger ones. All in all, I got what you meant and I honestly appreciate your reply to my comment. As I said in my previous msg, I do like hearing/reading from those who know and like their fragrances. All the best 👍

Some people don't like doing it but I find it quite interesting as it allows me to come up with some very nice smells; however one must be very careful as some mixing can go totally wrong!! If you have time to see it let me know what you think. @@forscentssake Thanks for the feedback. I saw the other feed and I do know about layering. Have been experimenting with it sometimes. I have 120+ fragrances, so there's a lot to mix, and my wife have 40+ and I have sometimes mixed with some of hers as well (since a lot of fragrances really are unisex). It is, however, not too often I end up with a very good result. Some are quite good, while others are simply really odd. Sometimes you get a very odd smell in the beginning, but it develops into something quite interesting. It can be fun to experiment, but to be honest, much of the time the results are not really better. But thanks for your tip. I think I'll try mixing up Antaeus with something sweet.

    I bought a decant of Antaeus, as I had wanted to try it. The first sprays reminded me of Oil of Olay, a very strong smell of roses that reminded me of my grandmother (and not the hyper-masculine beast I was expecting). The connection is leaving me a bit, but as you say no-one really speaks about the strong accent of roses - but perhaps they are not so familiar with the small of Olay. Thanks for the review.

As its scent didn't please me even at the slightest, I never looked for it again. But because of your comment I went to check its price and got surprised to find out that the cheapest you may find is around £90!!! Now, about what not to like about Antaeus though, I still say that it is its floral smell that puts off completely. I still blame my great grandmother's overpowering floral perfume! 😊 But hey, I'm glad to hear that you like it. Hi Constantin Raileanu! I really appreciate your comment and thanks for taking the time to write it. Also, My apologies for taking long to get back to you; I'll tell you why in a second. Please note that on this channel I try to be as honest and truthful to the products I review as I possibly can. When I looked for a Chanel Antaeus pour homme I was presented with the one I reviewed as the first formulation of its kind; however I'll look into it and if it's not I'll come back to rectify this either in a brand new video or by adding a note on the existing review to state that. Regarding the price I paid for my Chanel Antaeus pour homme, the only thing I can say is that someone somewhere lost money on that sale. I've checked if I'd been sold a counterfeit and I'm glad to say that I wasn't!. Regarding its smell, as I normally say, and it's true, I give my honest and totally unbiased opinion on every fragrance I review but likes and dislikes vary from person to person. Although it's not for me and I wouldn't recommend it, I'm happy you like it. About me taking long to get back to you it's because I'm currently in Brazil exploring this amazing country while I try to get hold of as many Brazilian fragrances as I can. From next week onwards some reviews will be available on this channel should you feel like seeing some of my experiences in Brazil which, so far, has been amazing. Once again, many thanks for your comment. It's always a pleasure to hear from someone who likes talking about fragrances. All the best.
