I've bank fished all of my life and have had great success. I got a kayak for father's Day and it opened up a whole new world of possibilities. Last year my dad got a 14ft aluminum boat and that's opening up another world of possibilities on the water. Even with all that said there is nothing better than hitting the lake after work for a few casts and hooking into some nice fish. Thanks for sharing. As a father this video was dope bro. Wading the local river was the most influential factor in helping me finally somewhat get over a very long spell of depression last year. It made me want to get up in the morning at a time when nothing else did. I've actually decided to go back to school for Fish and Wildlife Management. Finally found something I can be passionate about. I'm really glad I decided to pick a rod back up last summer.

I have a boat but I live in NY and fish mostly in NJ and it's just so expensive with tolls, ramp fees and gas, not to mention all the electric only and horsepower restricted lakes that I can't use. I'm getting back into beating the banks, it gives me a lot of access, it's cheaper, and it gets me back to my roots. Getting your kid out there, making memories is awesome. I bank fish, and it's an adventure, trekking through the terrain, casting around trees, watching for snakes, and trying to cover as much water as possible.
Most of the ponds I fish are farm. Not all are cattle ponds, but they aren't as well kept as the one you were fishing. Lots of small bass competing for bluegill. No cover to speak of. They leak. But, as you say, the bass love top waters. The thrill of the hit is what keeps me coming back.

Hey Carl. You don’t need a lot of money to get on the water. I started with an inexpensive kayak and caught tons of bass out of it before I upgraded to a used bass boat. There are still times I prefer to leave the boat at home and take the yak to out of the way spots for peace and quiet and a few hook sets. I love bank fishing too, but being on the water expands your possibilities 100 fold. Think about picking up a used kayak and always wear your PFD.
