The way Adam goes, "Hey Jay, how would you rate Transformers One?" is so funny. 35:16 He's genuinely wondering in that moment. Transformers One is so incredibly good that it shocks everyone. It's an absolute shame people didn't go see it in the theater. They should release it again with a better trailer.
YK, now that you bring that up, they should release it again. Morbius got that and that was mad into a joke. If they do that with this movie I guarantee there'll be people lining up to see this movie to give it the support it deserves.
As someone who has a Decepticon insignia tattooed on my right shoulder... and decals for my car? I chuckled at the Megatronus decal moment. :D I had someone approach me randomly at the local shopping centre whilst I was eating lunch one day whom also allied himself with the cons through a tattoo of his own. Have also seen a fair few ones allied to the Autobots.
My dude, I am a 45-year-old Transformers freak who grew up with the original series, and currently has the Autobot and Decepticon emblems tattooed on either bicep. DO NOT refer to the Matrix of Leadership as a "MacGuffin." The Matrix of Leadership is, and always has been, wildly important as both a plot device and an item worthy of pursuit. If you're going to refer to the Matrix of Leadership in cinematic terms, the phrase you're looking for is "Deus ex Machina."
Bumble Bee losing his voice was a purely live action bit (started by the Michael Bay films). They incorporated it in the bumble bee movie as part of the soft reboot…Buuut Bee was always supposed to be the wisecracking member of the team. It’s kinda like when fox sewed Deadpool’s mouth shut.
Except B was mute in a ton of media, like TFP, WFC games, Aligned continuity novels too. It was part of his lore in the Aligned continuity, and the Bay movies.
@pepita2437 that's all the result of the bay movies though. That's like how the bay films made earth secretly be Unicron, and a few of the cartoons did too...even though unicorn has always been a wondering world eater (which is what they returned him to being in the Bumblebee sequel). All that stuff is recent lore changes, that transformers one isn't a part of. It was honestly just marketed Really badly, because some of the commercials I saw tried to lump it in with all the recent live action stuff, and there's just no way any of them are in the same continuity. Which is fine. It's better that they start something new.
@@JonathanMartinez-ei4up Actually the Aligned continuity was the one (TFP takes place in that continuity) which made Unicron the center of the earth. And in that series it worked pretty well, this is why the Bay movies tried to copy it, but they didn't have the writing talent to make it work. XD
@@pepita2437 That’s cuz bay is a visual effects guy at heart, not a writer. It’s the same with Zack Snyder. Terrible write, but the man can paint a scene.
@@JonathanMartinez-ei4up I agree. Even tho the writing is subpar, the Baymovies (at least the first few ones) has a kind of magic, and originality we don't really see nowdays in movies (t least visually). I really wish he or his writing team would have researched a bit, because the TF franchise has so many cool lore/stories.
After hearing Hasbro is no longer financing Paramount due to the past failures in the Bay movies. I hope Transformers Two isn’t in jeopardy. Director Josh Cooley had plans for a sequel. I wanna see the aftermath of Transformers One and how Optimus becomes a better leader as he realizes his past selfish actions as Orion have everlasting consequences
No, this is a kids movie. I think you're missing that when Transformers does animated movies, they only go for Rated 80s G. Childhood trauma is required before exiting the theater.
The organic matter growing on Cybertron likely came from the quintessons themselves, specifically growing from their dead bodies from. The primes fighting them
Two things! I love how this movie does such a good job of giving us hope. We all know how it ends. We all know Optimus and Megatron are enemies. But, the story writing is so good, and the characters so well-developed and endearing, that Megatron dropping Optimus still feels like such a brutal blow, because we can't help but hope that maybe this time it'll be different. Also, little fun fact: when Optimus banishes Megatron, you can see Megatron's eyes dim before they flare a bright red when he says "Prime". UGH I LOVE THIS MOVIE.
This movie does a really good job of combining lore from the last 40 years into one movie. Near as i can tell, they pull ideas from the 80s cartoon and movie, the 90s Generation 2 comic, Beast Wars, TF Animated, and the first IDW run of Transformers.
This movie is in its own timeline compared to the Bay-verse movies. There are A LOT of TransFormers timelines. Like... A LOT!!! Also, given that Jay didn't get the "The Touch" reference, you guys GOTTA watch the ORIGINAL TransFormers movie "The TransFormers: The Movie" (1986). Before TransFormers: ONE, it was the best of the lot... BY FAR.
Yeah, this movie is it's own continuity, but it borrows a ton of lore from a lots of TF continuities. Like the storyline of the Quintessons and the missing cogs is from the G1 continuity, where the Quintessons ruled Cybertron, and took the cogs of a ton of bots to keep them weak, and in slavery. Cybertron being a dystopia is from the IDW comics, where bots were put into different castes depending on what their alt-mode was. The top of the heirerchy had it pretty good, but the low castes had a very rough time. Even Megatron's D-16 origin comes from that continuity (D-16 was the member of the lowest caste, the miners, who weren't allowed to own anything not even proper names, they were called by their serial numbers) Megatron's and Orion's close friendship si form the Aligned continuity (which borrowed a ton from IDW too) They were revolutionists who fought agianst Sentinel (who was a puppet ruler just like in TF One), and Cybertron's corrupt government. There are a ton of other things too, like B's knifehands are from TFA, Sentinel's design, and personality was pretty much influenced by his TFA version too (most notably his huge chin) Megatron killing Orion before he was rebuilt to house the Matrix is a story element from the G1 series. Starscream being the member of the Prime's military unit is from the ALigned continuity (where he was the head of the security detail of the Primes, later became the Sky commander of the Tripticon orbital station, which Megatron invaded, beat Starscream up, killed his scientists, took his men, and blew up his station- this resulted in Starscrem swearing fealty to Megatron) etc
Well, well, 4:30 sounds like a new Patreon goal. Jay, what Adam didn't tell you about the G1 transformers movie is all those deaths happen in the first act. All because Hasbro wanted the main cast to be replace with a new line of toys. Also the soundtrack is one of the most quintessential 80's soundtracks to exist. Fun trivia: Because of production issues the 80's G.I. Joe movie was delayed, and they ADR'd in dialogue about Duke being alive because the saw the backlash to Transformers killing off beloved characters. No Jay, the worst name is still unobtainium.
Remember, the next time you might make a reaction to a digitally released movie, always check if there’s an extra post-credit scene after the entire credits. Anyways, like anyone says, "Never judge a book by its cover.". Including some movies or shows.
Hasbro is no longer funding movies after this and Dungeons and Dragons flopped which sucks since both did poorly largely do to marketing. You should react to the 86 movie. Not enough of that out there.
Best transformers movie ever made. It's too bad that they're not going to continue this at all. I mean whoever did the marketing on this screwed up really bad
Ah, Transformers:The Movie .. Where Optimus Prime, and our childhoods, DIE TWENTY MINUTES IN. We just had to sit there, souls crushed, hope lost, in the theater, while shitty new characters were forced down our throats that we couldn't have cared less about.
They did say the first trailer is for new kid generation, with second trailer being us fans of the franchise, sadly not everyone knew that and assume the worse from first impressions from the trailer.
13:52 Alita Battle Angel didn't work because they forgot to translate anime time into real time for a live action, the movie's main story takes place over the course of 3 or 4 days which made the connections between the characters feel far too rushed and made Alita seem stupid and naive rather than caring and kind It could have worked if they had just allowed more time to pass or had larger time skips between action scenes
This movies marketing messed up big time. Hopefully they're able to make the other two movies cause I believe this is planned as a trilogy. Also Chris Hemsworth voice over and journey from Orion pax too Optimus prime was so good and I fully didn't expect that
29:10 the marketing for this movie was a travesty. I only saw it in theaters because I took my kids to go see it, but I was completely surprised by the quality of the writing and animation.
TFO is a completely separate continuity from the other Transformers movies! It is unrelated to the G1 cartoon/movie, the live-action Michael Bay movies, and the newest live-action movies, Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts (which are themselves separate from the Michael Bay movies).
I am a totally biased Transformers fan (you can probably tell by my icon image), and I can quite honestly say that this is the best Transformers movie. The other TF movies I really like are the 86 movie, and the only live action movie on my list, Bumblebee, which I highly recommend, even for non-transformers fans. I no longer consider the rest of the Michael Bay abominations as canon.
The trailers did not do Transformers One any justice. It’s so fire and fans have been begging for a prequel film since episode 1 of The Transformers season 1. Also, Barbie sucked balls, then again Barbie’s are the biggest pos toy out there.
Curious thing I notice about the first Primes related to Transformers Armada; 2 of the Primers wield known weapons, the Star saber and the requiem blaster. In TA, those are weapons that were obtainable by combining 3 minicoms, which are a small race of cybertronians that appear in that series, they are human sizes and can also transform into small vehicles. There’s other combination that forms the Skyboom shield, but I do not thing appeared in the movie, because the shield that one of the Primes uses is mainly made of energy. Greetings :D
Cybertron had an organic past, and apparently present in this continuity. It's a long story that I think started in the beast era, specifically Beast Machines and that we would have fully seen in Transtech, but that series didn't happen (and I'm still mad about that, those designs were insane).
That definitely wasn't made for the children, it was made for older fans who've been watching the cartoons since the 80s & 90s. I was 14 when it came out in 1984 but wasn't that into it,, Star Wars was my thing, but my younger brother Tim was a huge fan and still has a lot of his original Transformers toys. He was also into anything to do with Godzilla, made the Transformers fight kaiju which would be a most excellent crossover movie.
Bay really did a massive disservice to this IP by basically making it synonymous with mindless cgi action trash. There’s always been a ton of potential behind the core story and world concepts and I’m glad we got a film that finally did something with it. Sadly Bayformers, and the crap marketing, totally poisoned the well and this didn’t do great. Its probably not likely we’ll get a real sequel to it.
It's sad that this is probably the last Transformers movie for a while since HASBRO recently said they were done producing movies. But MAN, what a way to go out. This movie was AMAZING!!!
As a Transformers fan since G1 and the 90’s era, this movie makes me really happy to see Elita One get more focused and action. Scarlet Johansson fits perfectly for the character like she did with Black widow. I hope our favorite female Autobot lives longer in surviving the upcoming Autobot-Decepticon Civil War in future sequels. The only animated show where Elita one I know alive with Optimus Prime is in Earthspark. None of us want Orion/Optimus to suffered like he is in Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy Netflix series. This movie really brings so many highlights to Elita, and how it made her to a badass female Autobot long time fans have really wanted to see.
Every few years there is always a big push for a female character, in the past it was Windblade and Arcee. Now it's Elita's turn showing up in like everything. Who knows, next it might be Chromia or Moonracer.
For more Transformers media, I gotta recommend: » Transformers Prime (TH-cam and Netflix) » Transformers Cyberverse (TH-cam and Netflix) » The Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts movies (live-action movies that are separate from the previous Michael Bay live-action movies) » Transformers Animated (TubiTV)
The amount of people encouraging Megatron to execute Sentinel in front of the masses, not understanding what the repercussions of that would be, and also avoiding the proceedings of a fair trial on behalf of all Cybertron that Sentinel wronged.. it's scary. Firstly, what would the masses think, seeing one leader executed by someone else just claiming that position with a promise to lead them into a better future? Sentinel promised the same thing. Why would a new leader who takes power by rushed, brutal execution be any better than the previous one? Megatron also executed Sentinel in a fit of rage and selfishness. He did it more for himself than for anyone else. Megatron also killed Pax before killing Sentinel. How is that justified?
Yeah. The situation (if Megatron took power by violence) would have been a similar situation like the Bolsevik revolution. They disposed of one tyrant, and then a new one took it's place immediately. XD
@@bastien- They were not. Megatron caused the destruction of his civilization, the death of their planet, a near annihiliation of his species. Orion/optimus had the right idea by trying to fix their society with peacful means.
it does seem that half of the transformers agreed with megatron and joined him in banishment. sentinel's lies being broadcast to the planet was enough to lose him the public (this movie being a fantasy and all). putting him in chains should have been sufficient. but not for megatron.
@@vinsanity40k Half of transformers, you mean the High Guard. Because they were the only ones who followed Mrgatron when Optimus banished him. And mind you they had no other choice since Optimus implied that they were not wanted in Iacon (because they chose to attack the civilians/city ith Megatron) Also banishing Megatron was a last act of mercy from Optimus' part. It is certainly better than being put in chains, and thrown into prison.
Megatron's anger led him straight to arrogance and hubris, believing he was more worthy to be leader than the guy literally chosen by their entire race's _god_ and literal heart of their planet. Believing he alone had the right to choose Sentinel's fate, etc.

You guys need to go back and look at the second post credit scene if you haven't. It's amazing!
DECEPTICONS RISE UP!!!!
RISE UP!
Not to mention it's totally worth going frame by frame over those last couple seconds. The microscopic easter egg detail hidden there is brilliant.
Imma need about 19 more sequels, a tv spin off and a tie in video game, please and thank you Paramount
A videogame, with an expansion for every sequel
I would pay $ to see a Starscream origin story (as long as Steve Buscemi is onboard).
Not looking good for people like us unfortunately
The way Adam goes, "Hey Jay, how would you rate Transformers One?" is so funny. 35:16 He's genuinely wondering in that moment. Transformers One is so incredibly good that it shocks everyone. It's an absolute shame people didn't go see it in the theater.
They should release it again with a better trailer.
YK, now that you bring that up, they should release it again. Morbius got that and that was mad into a joke. If they do that with this movie I guarantee there'll be people lining up to see this movie to give it the support it deserves.
they should let the honest movie trailer guy do it. and since he voiced optimus prime for the netflix transformers series, it works.
YES IVE BEEN HOPING YOU GUYS WOULD REACT TO THIS THANK YOU
As someone who has a Decepticon insignia tattooed on my right shoulder... and decals for my car?
If you're going to refer to the Matrix of Leadership in cinematic terms, the phrase you're looking for is "Deus ex Machina."
in our darkest hour... seems optimus knew what that meant well before rodimus.
All us 80s kids were unprepared for the brutality in the Transformers Movie. All of us scarred. It was nuts.
Not Adam & Jay staring into the camera when it got too real 😅
“Freedom & autonomy is the right of all sentient beings.”
Honestly, the Zerg is the first thing I thought of when I saw those creatures LMAO
After hearing Hasbro is no longer financing Paramount due to the past failures in the Bay movies. I hope Transformers Two isn’t in jeopardy. Director Josh Cooley had plans for a sequel.
I wanna see the aftermath of Transformers One and how Optimus becomes a better leader as he realizes his past selfish actions as Orion have everlasting consequences
michael bay "is" credited as a producer on this so wonder how that conversation went...
No, this is a kids movie. I think you're missing that when Transformers does animated movies, they only go for Rated 80s G. Childhood trauma is required before exiting the theater.
On my hands and knees praying for a transformers prime 2010 series reaction now... One of the best shows ive ever seen, transformers related or not
Yes! This! All this! Everyone proclaim the gospel of Transformers Prime as one of the best shows ever, Transformers related or not!
The organic matter growing on Cybertron likely came from the quintessons themselves, specifically growing from their dead bodies from. The primes fighting them
It reminds me of how early colonizers unintentionally introduced invasive sea life in western ports due to barnacles on their hulls
In newer continuity, one of the primes made them.
@greenchilistudioz4537 oh I'm aware lol. Just meant for this movies
Whoa, that makes sense.
Been waiting for this reaction ! God seeing their friendship slowly crumple throughout the movie was so sad
And completely credible as well. 1000% buy-in from me.
Seeing the energy from the axe travel from Optimus' left hand, through his chest, and down into his right hand is so damn cool.
You can also see light streaks down Megatron's face. The director confirmed that they're tear tracks. Megatron was crying.
This movie does a really good job of combining lore from the last 40 years into one movie. Near as i can tell, they pull ideas from the 80s cartoon and movie, the 90s Generation 2 comic, Beast Wars, TF Animated, and the first IDW run of Transformers.
"What's organic matter doing on a robot planet?"
It's setting up Beast Machines
I was confuzzled about that and was terrified if they are nodding to that!
Even Megatron's D-16 origin comes from that continuity (D-16 was the member of the lowest caste, the miners, who weren't allowed to own anything not even proper names, they were called by their serial numbers)
Megatron's and Orion's close friendship si form the Aligned continuity (which borrowed a ton from IDW too) They were revolutionists who fought agianst Sentinel (who was a puppet ruler just like in TF One), and Cybertron's corrupt government.
Optimus Prime saved Duke’s life even in death. Funnily enough, the two 80s cartoons are probably in the same continuity.
@@SamaritanPrime they did crossover in the 80's. Both in the comics and season 3 of G1.
Come on, guys. How did you not wait till the end of the credits?! To quote Master Yoda: "There is another"
My brother replaced the badges on his VW GTI with decepticon emblems.
Remember, the next time you might make a reaction to a digitally released movie, always check if there’s an extra post-credit scene after the entire credits.
Anyways, like anyone says, "Never judge a book by its cover.". Including some movies or shows.
My exact reaction to this movie too! I was saying the same thing….this is a kid’s movie? Love this movie!
It definitely did go to places I wasn't expecting, in the best way. But it's also my 4 year old's favorite movie
Hasbro is no longer funding movies after this and Dungeons and Dragons flopped which sucks since both did poorly largely do to marketing.
You should react to the 86 movie. Not enough of that out there.
Megatron gave Sentinel the Jazz treatment, but he definitely deserved it.
Not a prequel, its its own universe
Though I'm not apposed to it being a prequel to the reboot universe if they wanted to go down that route.
True, but I did like Kup and Springer.
The way Ironhide dies, wow. Megatron instantly changes from goofball 80s cartoon villain to legitimately scary psycho real fast.
They did say the first trailer is for new kid generation, with second trailer being us fans of the franchise, sadly not everyone knew that and assume the worse from first impressions from the trailer.
13:52 Alita Battle Angel didn't work because they forgot to translate anime time into real time for a live action, the movie's main story takes place over the course of 3 or 4 days which made the connections between the characters feel far too rushed and made Alita seem stupid and naive rather than caring and kind
It could have worked if they had just allowed more time to pass or had larger time skips between action scenes
How it started 0:39
How it ended 33:27
Love the contrast😂
So glad you guys did a reaction to this! Me and a friend decided to give this a shot and were blown away by how good and fun it was to watch
This movies marketing messed up big time. Hopefully they're able to make the other two movies cause I believe this is planned as a trilogy. Also Chris Hemsworth voice over and journey from Orion pax too Optimus prime was so good and I fully didn't expect that
Top 3 TF movie for me:
1. 1986 Movie
2. This one
3. Bumblebee
29:10 the marketing for this movie was a travesty. I only saw it in theaters because I took my kids to go see it, but I was completely surprised by the quality of the writing and animation.
TFO is a completely separate continuity from the other Transformers movies! It is unrelated to the G1 cartoon/movie, the live-action Michael Bay movies, and the newest live-action movies, Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts (which are themselves separate from the Michael Bay movies).
as a mega Transformers fandom nerd, this was so nice to hear: Jay-“That setup their main characters in a way that I get now”
I am a totally biased Transformers fan (you can probably tell by my icon image), and I can quite honestly say that this is the best Transformers movie. The other TF movies I really like are the 86 movie, and the only live action movie on my list, Bumblebee, which I highly recommend, even for non-transformers fans. I no longer consider the rest of the Michael Bay abominations as canon.
I am MEGATRON!
Arise OPTIMUS PRIME!
Have you seen the original movie from the eighties? That was a masterpiece.
It slaps hard. Transformers TWO please 🙏
This was easily one of the best movies of 2024. It was definitely mismarketed.
True indeed.
Took my lil bro to see this in theatres & am now fully invested- this was sooo good, def was marketed wrong. it's so underrated ✨️
"It's over, Prime. " "NEVER!" WHAM!
Optimus & Megatron giving me “Justified” vibes by the end.
“We dug Energon together”
The trailers did not do Transformers One any justice. It’s so fire and fans have been begging for a prequel film since episode 1 of The Transformers season 1.
Also, Barbie sucked balls, then again Barbie’s are the biggest pos toy out there.
The Transformers game on the PS2 set around the story of Transformers Armada was awesome.
I got to admit, chris hemsworth got pretty good voicing optimus here, he actually got into the character and didn't just use his own voice
27:08 this is now my new personal battle cry 👍
Curious thing I notice about the first Primes related to Transformers Armada;
2 of the Primers wield known weapons, the Star saber and the requiem blaster.
You guys missed the better post credit scene where Megatron forms the Decepticons. Which is honestly how I think the movie should have ended.
Paramount will pay for their crimes against this movie for that AWFUL marketing😭
The trailer did this movie NO favors.
For more Transformers media, I gotta recommend:
» Transformers Prime (TH-cam and Netflix)
» Transformers Cyberverse (TH-cam and Netflix)
» The Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts movies (live-action movies that are separate from the previous Michael Bay live-action movies)
» Transformers Animated (TubiTV)
"You don't have the touch or the power." 😂
I think Alita Battle Angel "failed" because it didn't have good marketing. Plus it came out around the same time as Captain Marvel.
XD
Magneto and Megatron were right.
And mind you they had no other choice since Optimus implied that they were not wanted in Iacon (because they chose to attack the civilians/city ith Megatron)
Also banishing Megatron was a last act of mercy from Optimus' part. It is certainly better than being put in chains, and thrown into prison.
6:22 jay how dare!!!! That predates the matrix movies too lol 🤣🤣🤣 ❤❤❤
Megatron's anger led him straight to arrogance and hubris, believing he was more worthy to be leader than the guy literally chosen by their entire race's _god_ and literal heart of their planet. Believing he alone had the right to choose Sentinel's fate, etc.
I'm glad you guys enjoyed the movie! It's such a good one, and I hate how completely they bungled the marketing for it.
4:40 I don't have a rad car, but it's still rocking a decepticon badge!
I would love to see Jay watch the 80's transformers when everyone just dies😂
People: "I'm tired of MCU humor, movies can barely take themselves seriously anymore".
Marketing team * Makes an MCU-esque trailer that will make Transformers One look like a straight to DVD film *
22:08 I live for this moment 😂
Yeah as far as games go the War for Cybertron series isn't recent-recent (ps3/x360 gen) but they are very close to this vibe and art style
I completely agree they seriously mismarketed this movie.
The only thing I'm confused by is where Adam shows mercy to Jay and spoils the 1986 movie instead of making him do a blind watch-along.
Well, now Jay needs to react to the 86' Transformers movie. BEFORE ADAM SPOILS IT 🤫😠
It never fails to shake me how *evil* Sentinel Prime really was in this movie. He took an ORGAN out of a NEWBORN! And used that to perpetuate an unjust, class-based society!
Paramount RUINED the marketing for this movie, if Rise of the Beasts wasn’t special to me (for reasons why I don’t like to talk about) this would’ve been my favorite Transformers movie (also missed the Megatron post credit scene 😭)
Hey man, Rise of the Beasts was solid. You have nothing to be ashamed of.
Also YES- I was fully on Megatron's side cause his anger was valid, then it just was taken too far. Can't wait for the next one 🔥
Till All are One!
i loved this movie, and it was just amazing to get a transformers movie with no humans at all
This movie was so much better than it had any business being. The writing was top notch.
