Hi,love your videos, always packed with good info. I have a 2016 Sierra with the bed wheel wells and the cab corners rusting out. This has been a real pain for me because the truck only has 74K miles. I wish you were 2,000 miles closer, yes, I checked, so you can do mine. Good job. Good luck. Oz
Hey man cool video, I’ve used some thing similar to that on fiberglass half fenders on school buses to fix them along with a fiberglass patches, so far they are still hanging together for now.
I love this channel... you do terrific work and you are a really humble guy. I learn so much from watching you go through your process. You have a gift for instruction.. Thanks for this...
One man shop killing it ! No messing around ! You’re doing great work and a great service keeping these trucks alive ! Love your channel and hope you get to 100k + soon ! Please Subscribe, share and Like this channel. This man deserves your support !
Awesome video! Great work! Such a worthy idea "restoring" these trucks/cars. The price of new is way out of reach for most. Again as always nice to see someone doing a good job and paying attention to the little things and doing the extras that go a long way.
@@Johnnymidnight Agee with travlite8496. I splurged and bought the Astro 3037. It is a beast of a belt sander. That along with 3M 33446 Cubitron II belts (very expensive but WORTH IT) make doing spot welds very easy.
Look into some good belts, I use 3m sometimes at home or at work but we have also started using these “sunbelt” belts since 3m can be pricey… anyways my Milwaukee belt sander,a 5.0 mah battery and I’m off to the races on these Chevy trucks rocker an cab corners. From a younger body tech I love watching the videos keep them coming
Looks great. Great job. My dad has the same truck with the same rusty rear fenders that need to be fixed. Like you mentioned the bed sides aren't available for the short bed.
@@Johnnymidnight I would say it was worth every penny. Also I loved when you said “where’d my ear mufflers go,” you know you’re a body man with that one! Great content keep it coming!
You can buy fiberglass bed sides for those trucks. Piece of cake to shorten up and they'll never rust ever again. I plan on getting them for mine. As an aside, friend of mine is currently in process of restoring his 04 Silverado with almost 400k miles on it. Same story, engine is good, trans is good, frame is solid. Better than getting shafted for $90k usd for a truck that will never last as long and won't need another $30k usd in new equipment just to maintain it over it's lifetime.
I’ve looked into these recently for my personal restoration on a ss truck. Only reason I didn’t was for the price after coming to Canadian dollars an shipping I got a very clean southern bed already in Ontario cheaper. I wanted to do this but couldn’t justify it as I won’t ever winter drive the truck like the previous owner did. Maybe seeing one in person will change my mind one day but I would also worry about it potentially cracking, not here to hate on it. Like I said I really actually wanted to do this an be one of the first but for me I never found enough reason to pull the trigger on the idea.
@@tyler29henry I totally get what you mean. The FG sides aren't cheap, they're still about half the price of a good condition bed in my area. Here the temp various from -5f to 105f and no one I know with FG parts has had any issues with temperature related cracking. I don't load my trucks down so I'm not worried about damage in that regard. If I could find a good OEM bed for a better price i would likely go that way as well, it just doesn't look like its gonna happen.
Great work.
Thank you 👊🏼
Great work ..thank you
Well done. you do good work. Don't sell yourself short
Nice work thx for posting
Thanks for checking out the video 👊🏼
Like the neon light Chevy truck cool.

Thank you, I very much appreciate that, just a quick little road trip and you’re here! 😉

Thank you, I appreciate that very much!!
Another awesome video! As a novice your videos have been giving me the confidence to take on the challenge of doing the rockers on my ram.
Thank you, as long as you have the tools and a place to do it, I believe these can definitely be a DIY project 👍🏼👍🏼
That is one thing I was not aware of is that larger yellow wires are the air bags, thanks for the tip and as always great job....
It's very nice to see you got that e-coat off the panels.
Especially along the bottom I like knowing it’s got good primer on bare metal 👍🏼

The F350 I did two years ago like that was my last one like that, it's more than I want to do anymore !
These big jobs kick my ass as well, they’re a crazy amount of work

Thank you, I agree, the cost, and all of the ridiculous technology in new vehicles has gotten out of hand
Looks good John love the honesty in showing us everything you’re up against and not hiding things. Thanks for the video
looks good!
When i changed to a belt sander from drilling out them spot welds it was a game changer----my arms never ached and made it so much easier.
I recently finally bought a decent one, but haven’t splurged on decent belts

basically the same spec as this truck but a 2008 and dark metallic blue. This will help me a lot. I need two new front doors now
👍🏼
Nice work, looks great!

What did this restoration end up costing the customer if you don’t mind me asking? It was definitely worth it.
Around the 13K range

I just wish I’d worn them more when I was young and invincible…..😁
another reason why someone want to spend money on that old pickup because they loved it. I want to restore mine😊
I feel ya .. I have a 2010 ram. With rocker replacements. Need a good body man like John. Lol. Hard to find in the US
nice video
Thanks
That adhesive is much stronger then any weld put on the entire truck i'm a collision tech and we put almost the whole vehicle together with it.
keep up the good work, i have a feeling this time next year you'll be up to 50k subsbyojr vids are way better and far more authentic than others
Thank you for the kind words 👊🏼
oh man, looks amazing... nicely done sir. My personal preference, I am not a fan of the front bumper, it just looks odd.
I’m not big on those bumpers either, but beauty is in the eye of the beer holder 😁

I’ve always been curious about the fibreglass bed sides

Awesome job my truck looks just like it, well the before pictures anyways
Wow !! looks great. Did you say what the milage was?
Around 400000
I hate trucks with running boards (most), bolts always break, or strip fasteners in plastic parts.
The roof would be replaced but I don't see anything wrong in what you're doing either so to each their own.
my trucks weird my rockers and cab corners and front fenders and tailgate are in good shape but not my bedside and front doors
👍🏼
whos ford tempo?been years since seeing one
My sons,we fixed it up a couple years ago, probably the nicest one left 😉
here's another great thing about my truck it's a LTZ for the same price of a new one you can't get leather or carpet
Hey John, love the channel! I'm wondering what this job ended up costing roughly? Something in the range of 10k?
A little more, around the 13 mark
you can thank the "free world leader" biden for these prices
👍🏼
