My deck is approx 20x30ft. I used 3 gallons of thompsons. Took me 45 mins to complete entire thing!! Note, the cleaner/brightener i completed day before took 3 hours. Quite happy for sure. Thanks Van

Just saw this video. Used pump sprayer and it did this exact thing. Took 6 gallons to do my fence around my yard. Coated it super heavy. Cant wait to use this. Itll prolly save me 2 gallons. Its only 250ft of fencing

@@VansWorldI was a little surprised by the not taping off stuff and am not sure if you put drop clothes down, especially after seeing the most or overspray that was putting out. On a fence that might not be an issue but on the railing it looks like the sealer is going everywhere. I went through that same process and called the Thompson's customer service. They said that sometimes different batches are thicker than others and people can use a paint thinner to thin it out if needed. I think it is false advertisement and seems like you agree. I have two sealing projects this week and will likely use my sprayer but will tape off everything just to make sure. The last thing I need is to get sealer all over someone's siding and not be able to get it off. How would someone even remove sealer from a surface like siding? Probably not easily.

I got a pump zero i wonder if that will work. Its a battery operated pump less sprayer. I love it. But still may not be strong enough for water seal. It does have a little more power than a pump sprayer. I like the consistency it automatically stays at a preset amount of pressure. Even pressure start to finish
How well thompson's waterseal is holding up is it still working as it should?
Glad I'm not crazy either about which tip is which. On my box it says the one with extended tip (which is black in mine) is the 0.021. So the reds are 0.032. Glad you showed stain or similar consistency. Just got one of these, fixin to stain my fence. Only used a rental one time so some things were confusing and you made it clear. Thought: why couldn't I buy a clear flexible tube to make a long suction tube---then attached the hard suction tube with the filter that is already on there to the end of the new tube and put it down in a 5 gallon paint bucket? wouldn't that work and then I wouldn't have to fill that tiny container up constantly? Would the black .021 give more control or does the .032 give more? Thanks man. Great info too on cleaning.
Nice job! If I use a clear gloss stain, and don’t tape off ,will it make my white brick on the house shiny where the overspray is? And, Since it’s my first coat since it was built, will one coat be enough? And for how long? Any of your advice would be much appreciated !

N95 mask works great for this stuff, or paint. Its the best mid-grade solution. Hope its water based, or fun time removing it. One or two days of doing it should cause too much damage, unless you have lung problems.

I just used that same sprayer to stain my fence. Best $18 I have ever spent. I just wish the little hopper held more stain. I was wondering if I ran a tube from the gun to a gallon of stain if it would work
I bet the motor wouldn’t be strong enough to pump it up a long tube. But I’m just guessing lol. It does work great for stain and sealing. 👍😁

Man, that was my same thought that I just asked. I just got it and I'm going to buy a clear flexible tube to fit in a 5 gallon bucket. if it doesn't work, I'm just out the cost of the tube. Which tip did you use----black or red?

My lungs, my lungs, for a respirator. The bad news is that did not really penetrate the wood, you should have brushed it in immediately after spraying a small section with a brush wet with the water sealer.
Just put a brand new wooden shed up..it’s been raining ever since..noticed the bottom is already starting to like curl up some corners..it’s panel exterior wood. Will using this prevent it from happening any further?

It took a few months but yes it did go back natural. You would have to add stain or get sealer with stain added to change the color. 👍😁

It would probably work okay. I wouldn’t do it inside though. This sprayer has tons of overspray

I didn’t clean it. It still worked fine when I used it again for wood sealer

It took almost 2 gallons. I sprayed the deck too. I didn’t roll anything 👍😁.
How long does it take to dry?
Should be ready in a few hours but more like a day till it’s really soaked in

Hey Van, excellent video brother! Made me go to HF to buy the same sprayer (now $29.99). I’m going to use it to seal my deck w/Thompson’s. My question is about the cleaning. Do you simply flush the sprayer with water or do you recommend using something else to clean with? Thanks! 👍🏼

Many Thompson water sealer is oil based so you would use paint thinner or mineral spirits to cleanup

Thanks for the very helpful video but lets face it common sense is you don't spray paint on a windy day lol. As well as using a mask, eye protection and ear protection.

Vans! Loved all the video's from where you kicked the pump sprayer to the curb which I what I was going to use at first to Thompson my deck. You killed that idea. Great video editing and you got super camera energy. I already own the Krause & Becker and never thought of using it but you educated me. Thanks for the suggestion and will use your tips and tricks to scrub the internal parts of problems arise. Also Thanks for not having a stupid intro as so many do. Using a brush would take too much time and would use way more sealer than this process
