"Sana Maulit Muli" is one of my favorite songs, not only because of the haunting melody but more so because of the gut-wrenching lyrics. Gary is right; Angeli's lyrics made that song soar. And as I was watching your reaction, it occurred to me how much more moved you would have been if you had understood the lyrics. Your attempt to connect to a Filipino song, especially with this beautiful classic, even at merely a phonetic level is admirable. I wish there were a translation out there that truly conveyed the meaning and nuances of this song. But you are right in loving the sound of "muli;" Filipino songwriters who are mindful of the impact of diction and sound to the emotive weight of a song choose that word over the pedestrian-sounding "ulit." Perhaps that is the reason you hear that word in a few of the Filipino song you love.
You should check her daughter when she was a kid. She sang a Christmas song that Gary V. wrote.

Thank you for featuring one of my influences in music. Gary V is such a treasure in the Philippine Music Scene. This is one song that I always sing in a karaoke session as solo. But seeing this being performed by a legend together with his daughter brought tears of happiness to my eyes. A masterful work of art indeed.
Gary Valenciano is very talented and both his children inherit the genes. Gab is really a great dancer, Paolo is a singer/director and lastly Kiana is a R&B singer and songwriter also she can dance.

I always love this song but I never thought that it was written by his wife... Amazing lyricist.
This arrangement sounds like the same one done on his duet with Kyla. And Kiana perfectly executed Kyla's part. Awesome!
I am not much older than Kiana, but I first saw her sing was when she was still so little and I was amazed by her singing style and I waited for her to grow older to be able to release her own song, it was different though from what I expected her to be, because I remember the little Kiana, but I still love the kind of artist she came out to be.

I think the song was arranged to suit kianas voice. Because this song for female singers are more of a belting parrt more than chord progression. This song is defenitely one of the best opm songs ever written. The lyrics will make you cry literally. Try katrina velardes rendition of this song which is dedicated for her sister who passed away.

Gary’s mom was from Puerto Rico that’s why he looks more Latino. At around the time he became famous in the Philippines the pop boy band Menudo was the global phenomenon and they were always doing concerts in Manila. I was in college then and I thought Gary was a family member of one of the Menudo boys.

Fun Fact: Gary V. and Ogie Alcasid (Regine Velasquez's hubby)came from the same musical background, being part of "Kundirana" , an all boys choir in school. In fact, Ogie Alcasid was called the "Gary V" of his batch in the choir.
