1951 Bucyrus Erie 10B Startup and Propelling

- September of 2013 in Northwest Indiana with the 1951 BE 10B dragline with 28 foot channel boom, 3/8 yard bucket and Buda 6B-230 motor. Startup of engine and propelling of machine to a location to do some digging. This machine came from Tower, Minnesota in the Fall of 2011 after a narrow escape from the cutter's torch and the desire of the previous owner to not have to send it for scrap. I’m jealous lol 😂 that’s the sweetest little machine and they are not very common in that condition and series. Really cool 😎 👍and manageable to play with.
Excellent beast,saw how my dad became successful in the 80's with just one of these machines in the Caribbean. These beast can dig.

The motor sure has a nice sound to it and a great looking machine every time I come upon an old piece of equipment like that it's had a rough life or rusted to the point of having no paint.
Fantastic films.. Have been lucky enough to operate a 22rb with dragline and wrecking ball. you are so lucky to own some of these fantastic machines and keep them operational. Am jealous!
+Graeme Davison Thanks! Have only operated with the clamshell buckets, don't really even have a place to use the drag bucket on the 22B. Wrecking ball sounds like a good time!

You might want to use Seafoam or Lucas Fuel System cleaner it works great with my lawn maintenance equipment as it keeps it running well I do put in some Liquid heat for water also try this out on your roofs paint them with mobile home roof paint I use the white it reflects a lot of sun and heat and might want to get a roof panel for a drop ceiling to keep your head cool and a truck fan

I used a similar sized 'Hanson 35' dragline in my seawall business 41 years ago. I built a drop hammer and leads attachment for it to drive steel piling....It was the only size machine that would fit between the closely spaced cottages and homes along the Lake Huron shoreline (about 8'wide).Gary in Michigan
That Hanson would be a rare machine if it was around today. I googled it and it is hard to even find info on them.

Nice machine! That engine needs some cleaning and paint. Havent tried the High Speed Propel yet eh? Cant wait to see more!
It looked pretty bad when I bought it, but thankfully, underneath it was pretty solid. I guess the trick is to take it 1 problem at a time. There usually aren't too many isssues that can't be resolved, unless the machine has rusted away so much that it is just too far gone.
The engine will get it next year for sure. Tried the High Speed on the 22B, then couldn't get it dis-engaged. 10B will have to wait for some work on the crawler slack adjusters.

I think your 10b has an older brother. my 10b came from the tower area also. It has a Mercury flathead v8 for power.I could use some advise/ guidance on it's restoration & operation

Bruce, I did get a window made for the machine. I believe I explain the saga of such in another video.
Was that in high gear? If no, that's plenty fast enough for me.
That was only low gear and I agree, that's fast enough for a 65 year old machine.
What happened to your other 10-B ?
Tried to sell both this summer, deal fell thru, but I'm glad it did. Started to refurbish the shovel front for this machine, so my goal of having an operating shovel is finally going to happen. I plan to shoot a short video of this machine digging as soon as the weather gives me a break. The '37 10B is still looking for a new home though.

Never lube moving joints that are subject to dirt and dust ! It attracts the stuff then mixes in and then ? Well you figure it out
