She just had her 97 birthday on April 3, 2019 . Blessing to a very talented woman who brought so much joy to so many in her countless movies, songs and tv show .
Regretfully Miss Doris Day Passed away Monday May 13, 2019 at age 97 from a severe and sudden bout of Pneumonia at her home in Carmel CA. Rest In Peace Miss day. Thank-you for the music, movies, television work and especially your work in Animal rescue.
she had just found out on her last birthday that she was 2 years older than she thought she was when someone presented her with a copy of her original birth certificate. My mother nearly the same age would change her date of birth when calling to have a birth certificate made since often no record was made depending on the place of your birth. Finally they had the means to keep better records and she had to stop at 3. My mom dyed her red hair blonde and was often mistaken for Ms. Doris Day. She loved it. People asked my dad to sign autographs thinking he was Tont Curtis. If they hadn't had so many children, they might ve had a bit of fun being mistaken for those two.
I get so nostalgic watching anything with Doris in it. Such lovely, peaceful, graceful, polite society portrayed in her movies. I may have been born in the wrong era. If only singers sang like that now and movie stories touched our hearts like hers.
Doris Day was such a nice lady, a good example and I somehow thought she would be around forever, but alas, we all die sooner or later. What a remarkable talent she was, a good actress, a great singer, and a good friend to so many. I never heard of her EVER saying anything bad about anyone -- she always refused to say anything bad about anyone, no matter what. Something we could all learn from that! If you wish to remember this wonderful lady, please donate to her Doris Day Foundation for Animals. RIP, Doris, we will miss you.
How could you be absolutely devastated and broken hearted. The lady was 97-years old for g-d sake. Did you expect her to live forever? Would you still be devastated if she was 107 or 117 years old when she died. People get old and they die. Get over it. Now, if she died when she was say 37 to 67, yea then I could understand you being DEVASTATED. Kinda sounds like you expected Doris Day to live forever. Back when George Burns died at 100, I don't recall anyone stating that they were DEVASTATED.
@Aritosthenes I agree, but the word devastated is a very strong word usually reserved for extreme situations or a very untimely passing such as John Lennon, John F. Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, Patsy Cline, Elvis, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin or George Harrison just to name a few. But not when the person is 97-years old. A person passing at that advanced age is to be expected.
As am I! So sad, a fan from long ago & who couldn’t love her? She was clean & an animal lover, I highly approve! She’s generous & real, so unusual in Hollywood! I will miss knowing she is no longer in our world, but her popularity will live forever! When I hear 3 Coins in a Fountain, I always think of her!❤️

As others have noted here, Doris had an inner light that glowed and radiated out from her. You can't manufacture or fake that and that's what people responded to on a soul level. I remember an interview with Tony Randall who co-starred with her in some of her movies where he said, "Doris just didn't know how good she was." I think that says it all. She was full of positive energy but not full of herself. Her friend, Betty White, said that for someone of her stature in the industry for all those years, it's amazing that she is still vulnerable. That says a lot. She never became hardened or jaded. She is so easy to love because she exudes such love.
Miss Doris Day brought joy to many with her sunny good looks and her charming personality and let's not forget that beautiful voice she had! I just know she's a solo artist in the Heavenly Choir! Enjoy her, you lucky Angels!
