Aisi lammbi journey maine bhi nahi ki hai India mei. I did chennai-jammu once and Chennai Kolkata many times when I was a kid. But this Journey Abbas sir did is one of the longest in the country. West Bengal to almost the Pakistan border. In the old days, before 1953 you could take a train all the way from Kolkata to Lahore, and Chennai to Peshawar(grand trunk express). Those trains are still there but don’t go to Pakistan, they stop in Delhi or Amritsar. My late grandfather when he was a young boy had taken the GT express from Mangalore to Peshawar in 1945 with his parents, and he said it took 4 to 5 days to reach Peshawar from Mangalore. His father (my great grandfather who died before I was born) worked in the madras and southern maratta railway company which later became southern railways division of indian railways. He used to get free tickets for summer vacation from the railways and he used that to visit Peshawar with his family in the GT express.
