You just can't keep a 5 land hand with no 1-2 drops. That doesn't make any sense to me. The deck has 23 1-2 drops. You can mulligan and your chances of hitting are very high.
Feels like in the end of game 1 you should be drawing at sorcery speed, especially since you had a bunch of green 1 drops that'd let you get a card deeper for the unsummon.
I'm playing a very similar deck on Arena. Tip: less lands. WAY less lands. I think I'm running 21? And I still get flooded between Adept draws, Kumena draws and explore draws.
In some turns you definately should have attacked, and you did not, just because you could not kill your opponent in one turn........ You don't always have to kill them in one turn Seth ^^

That god pharaohs gift player was pretty bad... They could've had turn five gift, would've ran over this fish draw if he knew what he was doing :P it shouldn't have been that close

Ya see, this matchup is kinda funny as I’m currently playing Esper GPG but I’m also building my own version of U/G merfolk in standard. I play tested a bunch and merfolk has the better matchup. It’s extremely fun to play. rene ziesig Deeproot Waters is unfortunately a trap. Merfolk is best built as an aggressive, tempo driven deck and taking turn three off to get what amounts to increment value after casting more spells is way too slow. It does work well with Kumena but hurts the deck as a whole.
It might be fine in the board if a counter-heavy control deck becomes relevant; get that down when you think they're on just Essence Scatter and either they counter it or you get value even if they counter your fishfolk later. But that's making a lot of format assumptions.

I think that Spell Pierce can be good in the matchup, just in that specific situation we really needed more Merfolk to start drawing with Kumena.
I really hope we can see a modern build of b/g merfolk sometime. With kumena it seems like it could really get going now.

i guess its a mistake to not play the merfolk token generator (entchantment). it fuels kumena so heavy
