Hello all! In regards to the watcher streamer announcement, both podcasts are separate from the streamer endeavor and will continue to be posted here on TH-cam and wherever you get podcasts for free every week.
What do Puppet History and BFU have in common? Some goofballs laughing at stories, as they're told. Being both the story teller and the best friends at the back of the classroom laughing about the story. NOT Netflix-level production value. You're racking up expenses that you never needed. All we wanted was you.
Everyone who has come onto the podcast so far has been great, but Matt and Amanda are truly world-class guests! I had the privilege of learning improv from Matt back in college, so this was a VERY nice surprise! Genuinely such a great couple.
Would love more news prolog and epilog. Thanks for including them here! Love this podcast too. Hope it sticks around for a long time! Maybe you guys can invite Jack from DSNY Newscast?
My favorite memory of the dancing cars on the tour was even our tour guide was not impressed and said “welp, we’ve got German cars, on an Asian set while some Latin reggaeton music is in the background… moving on!”
Would LOVE if Ryan was allowed to do a POV cam on these rides so we could kinda see Disney/Universal through his eyes. I am from Canada and was only at Disney/Epcot Florida in 1996!
Great ep. Y'all!! You are the highlight of my weekly podcast rotation and you brought the real heat on this one. I would LOVE some more coaster thoosie content soon but also I'm just selfish 😂
As someone who dosen't keep up with theme park news outside of the pod I appreciated the note at the end giving an update on the ride! would absolutely watch a monthly episode on theme park updates
man i love this podcast! i’m so glad i can watch once-weekly released content from this channel once a week! but, i mean, who would dream of putting something viewers can get for free behind a paywall? 😃
You know TV used to be free right? Then cable became a thing and then streaming. People have always tried to monetize their content as much as possible
I really love this podcast. I was so upset I might not get to listen anymore! 😭😭 honestly though if I had to pay for any podcast, I’d do it for this one… I love theme parks and love the discussions you have with your guests!
i went on the warner brothers backlot tour when i was in town when winning a trip to the conjuring premiere and our tram ran across filming of a bit for conan o brien when he was on tbs
I think it got sucked into their new paid streaming service. Look up the video(s) on the main Watcher youtube page for more info. They basically said they were leaving TH-cam to try to start their own Netflix knockoff, and then had to walk it back and say they'll still upload the content on TH-cam a month after it airs on their paid platform. sooooo basically we'll be waiting a month before the next episode. Which I'm honestly still annoyed by, because this show is so low-cost to run. I hope someone on YT starts a similar podcast because there's now a whole month of opportunity that Watcher has given creators to fill this niche.
Ooh thanks for the intel! I hope someone gets going on something if they’re going to take their time on uploading here. I’ll have to check out your channel in the meantime I guess lol 😎
@@applekid1984 Actually I just saw the pinned comment sayin that this will be separate from the paid platform... so why no episode?? now I'm wondering too.. maybe they changed their minds and it's being delayed a month along with the rest of Watcher content? idk.
Theres a video on TH-cam called "Your Studio and You" made by Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Spielberg is narrating the tram tour at the Jaws section. Its really funny.
I love these world class attraction episodes and please never stop doing them, but will there be other episodes based on other topics? Like your favorite things to do at theme parks?
As a Floridian that doesn't travel much, this episode got me interested in visiting Universal Studios Hollywood just for this ride, so consider that an endorsement! Great work, y'all!
Hey Ryan and Byron, thanks for another episode! Could you ask your guests if they have additional ideas for the world class test? I know it was painstakingly made, but I wonder if the guests have other criteria for ranking the rides. Also, cross-referencing passes and fails with non-theme-park-philes like Shane and Steven who can represent the common tourists perspective better? Really appreciate the work you're doing 🙌
Ryan, I totally hear you on an amusement park being a happy place! One of my spots that brings me peace is thinking of "Remember, Dreams Come True" in Disneyland for the 50th, it was just an incredible time and makes me feel so safe and happy. Thanks for sharing, and thanks everyone for being on this show, i adore it :)
I love this ride. A few years ago, while on the tram, trying to impress my new in-laws, I was hoping a celebrity would pop up. While riding, I saw someone waving their hands outside a studio stage. Being in the last car, I squinted my eyes in the sun and anticipation. Lo and behold, it was Jeff Garlin looking for a shout-out. I yelled out his name and made his/ my day. I felt like the bee's knees, but my new family didn't. Who? Huge Curb fan. I was still on a high all day. What a ride.
I’ve never been on this attraction, but my babysitter did manage to convince me when I was 5 that jaws ate somebody off a dock, and that was a guest from the park that was chosen at random each day 😂
Early 1990s, one of my favorite childhood memories. My family was riding the tram and when it came to the King Kong part my dad started shaking my little brother yelling “Save yourselves! We’re all gonna die!” My brother was crying, I was laughing, my mom was mad. He liked to scare us as kids.
My last trip I decided to spring for the VIP experience and it was awesome to be able to continue on past the end of the regular tour. We got to walk around the European village, some of the prop warehouse, and an actual set from the Quantum Leap reboot.
You also get to exit and walk around during Halloween Horror Nights. You’ll usually at least get to walk right up to the Psycho house, Bates Motel, through the War Of The Worlds crash set, and now go into Jupiter’s Claim. Ok, they partially covered this at the end.
So much fun banter and stories on this episode. The tram tour is underrated. I'm always blown away by the War of the Worlds set and the earthquake experience no matter how many times I've seen them before. The addition of Norman Bates at the Bates Motel is really fun too--simple yet effective and he never drops character. Watched him mad dog the tram until we were out of sight.
I feel like the Studio Tour is such a trademark attraction of Universal Hollywood. When my friends and I went a 3 years ago, they really wanted to skip the tour cause they thought it was boring. I planned the day and had us do it after lunch tho so everyone can digest and take a break and chill (or even nap lmao). It ended up causing one of the best memories we had of that day quite honestly. I’m super happy to see this attraction pass and this whole episode about it 😁😁
30:08 about half are electric! The way to tell if the team you are on is electric is to look at the lettering. Yellow letters are gas, green are electric! That is hidden with some with the glamor tram outfits, but in general that is the case.
The Universal Hollywood Studios Tram Tour is so iconic and world-class that about 35 years ago two theme parks in Central Florida were built including versions of that Tram Tour as an essential part of a movies studio / theme park / tour. 19:05
I’m embarrassed to say I’ve been to Universal Studios Hollywood only once (and I was even an adult) and I DIDN’T KNOW THE STUDIO TOUR WAS A THING!! I did the top lot & thought that was everything to do in the park. I’m the less than average tourist. 😂
I'm going use "that was a collection of words" when im confused about what someone just said to me. I've never heard of the car dance. That's fucking insane
I was on the Universal tram tour once when it was still hosted by Whoopi, and I still feel shaken from seeing that Kong animatronic 😂 I was very easily frightened as a kid, and several points in the ride instilled me more with terror than with wonder, but maybe my opinion will be different 10+ years later 😅
The last time i went on this ride i was a really small child, but i still vividly remember the psycho house because it scared the ever living crap out of me. This whole time i thought it was a fever dream...
The sigh of relief after reading the pinned comment 😮💨 I’ve loved the ghost/mystery content for years (I even featured Ryan/Shane videos in a college class I taught about folklore) but this podcast has brought my “neurodivergent millennial with a niche internet in theme parks” ass so much joy. You were right Ryan, The only time I've ever been to Universal Studios, they announced on the tour that The Burbs and Fletch Lives were the two movies currently filming there
I don’t remember the gorilla with the hand, but I do remember as a kid getting off the tram and going through a dressing room/ trailer and the tram guide said, “You can take as many pictures as you’d like, but don’t take the pictures off the walls because they belong to Mr. (Robert) Wagner.”😂 I thought it was funny that the “walls” of the Red Sea had kiddie pool fish images along the sides.😆
Been to USH 2x (1997 & 2023) and the Studio Tram Tour was def a big highlight each trip. The absolute awkwardness of creeping out of that black hole of a Soundstage while these people were so distraught 😂
Love the tram tour. My hope with the F&F coaster is that they can replace that part of the tour with something better. Maybe they can do live effects demos there, since that show was one of the things that got torn down for the new ride. Otherwise - speaking of things shot at Universal, it's a shame that they just cancelled the Quantum Leap reboot. It was a perfect show to play "spot the tour locations" - they even used the flash flood scene this season. I'm genuinely disappointed that they never managed to work the Jaws shark into an episode. Missed opportunities...
As a Universal Orlando girl, the tram ride is the only way I can experience my favorite childhood rides with Jaws and Earthquake (SOOOOO SAD I missed Hollywood's King Kong), so it'll be world-class for me until someone burns it down 😂
Did this tour waaay back in the day (early 1990s) - single lasting memory for this Bay Area native? They made our worst nightmare of being stuck in a BART tunnel in a major earthquake A RIDE. FOR ENTERTAINMENT. Dude.
I just have to say I love the music theme for this show. Also this ride is a must ride at Universal if you are visiting town. SoCal residents like us might skip it but not always!
The Studio Tour is a MUST. And if it's a rainy day, I like to get a Starbucks coffee and do it at least twice. But I also recommend avoiding the bathrooms down there by the escalator because they're the worst ones in the park, imo. Go to the one in Harry Potter land before going down the escalator. They might be a little bit more croweded but they're cleaner.
A gajillion films were filmed there and I love it as a film history nerd that wishes they went even deeper into the history on the tour, but you forgot the MOST important film: NEWSIES!
Also can we, meaning me, because I am definitely just talking to myself at this point, talk about about how Universal Studios Hollywood is completely wasting that entire entrance area?? They are the Home of Hollywood, that's their unique thing that no other theme park can claim. Why have they not put in a Carthay Circle/Classic Hollywood type of restaurant near the front and a working theater that screens their Classic Pictures (short ones for every day but special movie screenings for like Holidays). And also a "commissary" type of throw back restaurant that features one of the original menu items every month or whatever, but it's themed like the old backlot type of vibe. There's so much they could do to embrace the themeing of Old Hollywood in a real tangible way but instead they're all random gift shops.
