Congratulations on 3 years of Floppy Deep Dive on TH-cam. I'm really enjoying the channel and always look forward to new content. Fascinating video too. Very interesting to see the value of these classic gems.
I received a copy of Bruce Lee with a complete C64 set up that I picked up for $50 from a guy who was clearing out a house he had and had no interest in what he had. Thanks to that dude for the 1541 drive, 2 monitors, 1200 Baud modem, 2 controllers, and 50 lbs of various software.
I sold my copy of Ultima I for the Commodore 64 computer for $1,200.00. I show this in a video on my channel. In general, software is usually worth more then the computers they run on. 🤔
That’s an amazing sale! Ultima I for $1,200 is a huge win, and it really highlights how much the software can sometimes surpass the value of the hardware itself. I’ll definitely check out your video-sounds like you’ve got a collection with some serious gems!
I loved Maniac Mansion! I spent so many hours on all the stuff in the box, looking at the posters and stuff, reading all the little notes as if they were clues. It certainly is a piece of gaming history. I figured for sure it would have been something that would be another big IP like Lord of the Rings, Marvel or Star Wars, honestly but MM is well deserved in that top spot.
I put MM’s poster on my wall as a kid. Loved that game. I also was a bit young… the campy humor went somewhat over my head and so I was genuinely very nervous playing the game worrying that Dr Fred would catch us and kill us , LOL
1. Stroker 2. Sam fox strip poker 3. Sex games 4. Girls they want to have fun 5. Laser squad 6. Airborne ranger 7. Hostages 8. Skool daze 9. Leaderboard golf 10. Terrormolinos I wish i owned the originals.
That C64 Wizard of Wor was a absolute the best original port. Those Hi-hes single color sprites are beautiful. So many of these we didn't see on the A8 or the ST. i need to play Fire King especially!
I have Montezuma's Revenge in near mint condition :) Alas, it is cassette version. Fire King big box of mine has seen better days. But I didn't know they were that high valued these days.
I don't watch prices too closely but I imagine that my #1 is the original California Pacific edition of Ultima for the Apple, complete with bag, disk, manual, and cover insert. My personal grail would be an original Personal Software "barbarian" edition of TRS-80 Zork.
Wizard of Wor, Space Taxi, and Bruce Lee - 10 out of 10 games in my book. I played all three of those for more hours than a guy should have. My top C64 game I own the original of is Archon. It is also my favorite C64 game of all time. Pitstop II would be a close second. I only own a handful of original games, but they are ones I practically wore out.
Congratulations on 3 years, my most priced C64 game in my collection (not monetary value wise) is the (small) big box of E-Swat (cassette) which still has the original receipt in the box from when I purchased it as a kid, from money I received from my grandma after I managed to still having a good school report-card while going through some rough times.
First of all, retrospective congratulations for your three years on YT 😺👍🕹️. and second of all, some Commodore 64 games - especially on the cartridges - can be more expensive than you can possibly imagine 😹. I even still have two original cartridges, INTERNATIONAL SOCCER and CENTIPEDE - for my Commodore 64 😺👍🕹️. I also have MONTEZUMA'S REVENGE for my Commodore 64 as one of the budget priced Databyte game tapes 😺👍🕹️. I have also played DUCKTALES on my Amiga 500 many years ago 😹.
Congratulations! Aegina's Quest looks charming, but Wasteland is a Stone Cold Classic! I played it about 20 years ago in DOSBox via the Interplay 10 year collection. Fantastic game! Duck Tales Quest for Gold looks champion! nUMBER 1! Wow! That's pricey!
My most valuable game is Donald Duck's Playground. The game itself is not rare, but none other than Al Lowe sold it from his own collection and also signed it. My personal little holy grail ;-)
Indeed, this comes as a bit of a surprise. I hadn't been thinking about collector's values on the C-64 side of gaming. And while most of these titles I have never heard of, Space Taxi rings a bell. I am 90 percent certain that I still have an original disk of this great game. It is really boggling my mind if there is a manual and/or a box that came along with that disk, though. I have so much retro stuff in storage that it's like a treasure trove of a video game store's back room. Many of which are on the console side. Like all six OG Mega Man's. (Some with box/manual.) Or Tengen's Tetris. Pocky & Rocky, plus the sequel. Lots more like that. But by going through videos on collectable games like this is how I learned that I had Clay Fighter... and the box. (That B-Buster's exclusive.) And Buster Douglas Boxing complete. (SMS) Yes. I grew up at the prefect time when all this stuff was just dirt cheap. Like scoring EarthBound for under $25 or Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt for a thin dime. Still, Space Taxi is worth that much? Now I wonder if my copy still even works. As the last time I fired up the old C-64, it was suffering from some kind of glitch and I left it permanently on the repair list. By now, it is going to need a new power supply and some fresh caps, along with some knowledge on what that glitch might be caused by. (My first bet, faulty power supply.)
Great video! Like you, back in the day, I could never have afforded the originals - so most of my collection was pirated - although I really salivated at the beautiful box art which I could only stare at and not afford! I'm going to take issue with your No1 though - a full disk version of "Pirates" (box, manual, map etc), the Ultima Series or even the Microprose series like "Silent Service" complete are increasingly rare and expensive these days (at least in Australia) - things might be different in the big old US of A!
I have Pirates and Silent Service but they didn't break into the top 10. Now Ultima would but I don't own it. I'm glad you liked it and Thanks for Watching!
The crown jewel in my collection is Artworx Strip Poker. I have the original box, floppy disk, and I made a fully functional .d64 digital floppy from the original to run on my Ultimate 1541
Thanks so much, loved all the games, brings memories - HEY QUESTION: where do you find / how do you manage to find those plastic boxes for fragile games? I need them! I know there is some place...what was it...but it was mostly boxes for NES game etc....so this is tricky since c64 games are in different sizes of cardboard boxes...disk games I do collect, big boxes ! Awesome titles and great to see another video, Tom. The surprise to me was the Angina? (sp). I didn't know of that one back in the day. Vik Tokai, was it developed for Japan?
Thanks! Aigina’s Prophecy was new to me, too! This video was the first time I opened it up and played it. I’m unsure where it was developed, but I encountered issues like in PAL games. Like jumpy screens and, at times would stick while scrolling. I need to research it more. Fire King was my surprise. That game is awesome! I think you have been with me since year one. Thanks for supporting!
Oh yesss - Space Taxi one of the few i actually did beat. But other of my favorites are Fort Apocalypse, Bards Tale III, Red Storm Rising, H*E*R*O, Pirates and now also A Pig Quest .. please do a review of this game one day. Thanks for all your great videos. Getting a brand new Joystick for my breadbin at xmas.
Great channel recommend in my feed 👍. Space Taxi really took me back.... I'd completely forgotten about that one! Thanks for the reminder. I also enjoyed Rad Warrior, Draconus, Commando and of course..... Bozo's Night Out 🤣. Maniac Masion was always awesome. I also couldn't get enough of that main track from The Last V8 🔥. The Movie Monster Game also had a sick main track! THANK YOU for taking me back to my old C64 days 👊😎 One last thing.... would you happen to know the name of a C64 screensaver type of program that ran sick SID chip music? It was a very basic program, but the music was incredibly catchy and I can't recall the name of the program. Been trying to remember for years 💀
Hey!!!! Great video!!!! What did you think of the Commodore 64 text based games by the company Infocom. As a teenager I spent many hours typing away playing Infocom games. I remember that I had several of the Zork games & I know that there was a text based Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy as well. Could you do a video devoted to the Infocom games sometime?
My collection topped out at around 650 for C64 & Amiga, Genuinely buggers to display as there were so many different box sizes over that 10 year period. I'm down to the games with interesting bumph like the Infocom, Gold Box etc.
Except Bruce Lee, every other game was completely unknown to me until today 🤷🏻♂️ But back then i received C128 and no floppy 💾 disc. All i was doing was programming in Basic. Later, my friend got C64 (i had no idea inside C128 is also one 😁. When i typed GO64, i thought something went wrong since it wasn't green anymore and did a reset)... Note: C128 had German guide and I had no clue about it Same with English back then 🤷🏻♂️... Anyway, my friend actually only was playing games and so we played together what was available back then on tapes. Way later we bought 1541 floppy drive ... ...and then PC came into his house and i received Amiga 500... Rest is a history... Lately, few months ago i returned to C128 (Emulator) because i always wanted to learn assembly language and make my own game 😁 Even after close to 4 decades later ... It's never too late 👆 Using Edass 128, native on C128 (VICE). So it's not a cross compiler. Btw. I still have C128D and C128 and Plus 4 and 1541, 1571 ... Unfortunately, unused since very long time...
No surprises. The only surprise is that you do not own more of the 6000 other games that are from bad to superior. Mayhem in Monsterland. Alter Ego. Infocom games. Giana Sisters. The many Sierra games on cartridge. Sirius Software. Synapse Software games. Etc.
@@FloppyDeepDive Make more videos presenting games from your collection. I am planning to do some videos too. Just need to get my rear end off the couch
Thanks for the motivation! I’ll definitely keep sharing more games from my collection. And hey, I’d love to see what you come up with too! Once you get started, it’s hard to stop. Looking forward to seeing your videos-get off that couch and go for it!
My favourite games for the c64 were Target renegade, Turrican 1 & 2, aztec challenge, Blue max, Dan dare and creatures. Such a great system... if the games didn't crash :)
Wow, there's some crazy valuable things you've got! I doubt I have anything that comes even close. If I scrounged around, I probably have a full Ultima II but the only component I have immediately on hand is its pack in cloth map. I don't know how people feel about Ultima II. It's easily the most unusual port of Ultima to the C64, with its green background color graphics and character graphics mode speediness. But it lacks the beautiful music of Ultima III onward, which makes it less memorable.
Okay, looking things up, I do actually have a couple Saturn games in the same ballpark - Radiant Silvergun and (Japanese) Rayearth. When I initially bought Rayearth, I shamelessly used the stickers knowing it would reduce value later on. I had no intention of ever selling it, and still have no such intention. So yeah, I used the stickers! Well, looking it up, using up the stickers apparently only reduces the prices one or two hundred dollars. I have absolutely no idea why demand for this game is so incredibly high (only the Japanese version is so highly valued). With Radiant Silvergun, I understand. It's absolutely legendary and people who have it don't want to sell it - severely reducing the potential supply. Rayearth, though? It's a fun nicely put together game, but ... really?
I used to have the Ultima III complete as a kid. I have no idea what happened to the map and books but I still have the floppy. It could still be at my parents. So kick myself for not keeping that altogether
I love the Sega Saturn. I bought it when it was first released, but sold it. 🙁 I now have it back, but the games are crazy expensive. That one hurt because I had some excellent games for it.
@@FloppyDeepDive Sadly, my experience with Ultima III was ... well, let's just say that I never finished the game because of what I think was a corrupted world map, and I just chalked it up to me getting what I paid for.
Hi, just took down my old c64-c64c-c128-and about 400 game titles. Since you seem an avid c64 guy, are there any titles you dont have that I might?? thanks Tom
Original disks, over a hundred, also have 300 archived copies of programs/game disks. to many to make a list, just wondering if there was some you dont have that i may, Getting ready to put all of my commodore stuff up for sale, and you seemed to be excited about your stuff so i dropped a message before its gone. Most have the manuals but only a few the original boxes. :)
I have a fair amount of c64 floppy disks w/the boxes and all the inserts... having a hard time finding where to price them out at... pricecharting doesn't have most of these. appreciate any suggestions
@@FloppyDeepDive yeah, definitely selling. I've got to get around to pairing everything together. I have the booklets and ad inserts in different folders and then have to pair those with the floppys and the boxes. these are my games I grew up with. I did finally find a few of the titles on pricecharting. I mostly had popular games, I think, so only value is the fact that I have boxes still and in such good condition. I will check your site for an email when I get things put together. might be a bit. thanks!
Ugh this makes me feel badly. I had complete copies of Ducktales and Maniac Mansion. Zak Mckraken and Project Firestart are also some c64 gems to collect
Congratz on the 3 years! I hadn't heard of about half of those titles, but there were so many C-64 games and I grew up near the middle of nowhere so I'm not that surprised. I don't know how much they are really worth but the ones I paid the most for were boxed versions of Star Wars, Diamond Mine, War of the Lance and Dungeon Master's Assistant Volume II. I also picked up a sealed copies of the disk version of H.E.R.O., M.U.L.E. and Track & Field somewhere in the last 20 years or so since I got back into C-64 stuff.
I was really surprised that Maniac Mansion is THAT expensive. Luckily you don't have to own an original copy to play the game 🙂 I guess the most expensive C64 game in Europe is probably the UK version of The Great Giana Sisters. The original German release seems to be a little cheaper. That's probably because the game got pulled off the shelves shortly after its release in the UK because... it's a Super Mario clone and not a bad one. I don't think I ever saw an original copy of that game but everyone had a cracked copy back in the days. It's hard to tell what my most valuable piece of software is because I'm more a hardware collector, but it's probably the 2 Imagic games (Atlantis & Demon Attack) for the Philips G7000 aka Odyssey² in America. They aren't that valuable, probably less than €100 each, but it took me 8 years of visiting retro trading fairs in 3 different countries to get them. I hate buying on ebay, so those retro fairs are my main source of retro stuff. Luckily there is like a dozen of those fairs nearby... which means within 3 hours of driving range... each year and the prices also seem to be lower than on ebay. And you can look and check the stuff you are buying beforehand. Not to mention that you buy from fellow collectors or from dealers who have a reputation to lose and not from some random guy on ebay.
Yep, if I had to have an original I would of not of had games to play in the 80s. Thanks for sharing your search for 2 Imagic games. Retro Fairs sound awesome! Thanks for Watching!
Hello, I’m looking for somebody to copy 20 of my favourite Commodore 64 games onto some floppy discs for me. I just bought a new system and I’m excited to play these old games. There’s about 20 games total that I’m looking for I could eat transfer money or do it through PayPal.
Hey, congrats on your channel. That said, a tiny bit of criticism: can you try to normalize your audio? The "whump" sound effect you keep using is WAY louder than your voice, making it very difficult to watch. In order to hear your voice the "whump" is startlingly loud and other people in my house are complaining.
Congrats on 3 years. The Commodore 64 was the co.puter to have in the 80's even after the NES came out. My biggest dissapointment was that Sierra Online never released Space Quest or King's Quest for the C=64
@FloppyDeepDive Never owned a Tandy. But a few friends did. I learned about GIFs in the late 80's and a friend gave me the Giffy program to decode them on the C=64. I thought it was cool converts 320x200 EGA graphics from a PC on the C64. I recently downloaded giffy to use on my VICE Emulator. I'm taking modern up to date images I've taken from around 2008 to the present and turning them I to 320x200 gives and watching the C64 decode my photos. I found it nerds to not be a mess of a photo like a photo of the woods. It's too busy with all those branches. But a pic. Of a Hampton in motel turned out really well. I love retro graphics
1. Commodore c64 is a computer not a console 2. When the c64 appear the sound is annoying. Please level your audio 3. Try looking at the camera lens not its screen
Congratulations on 3 years of Floppy Deep Dive on TH-cam.

There are volume problems in this video. The narration is quiet while the NUMBER X are very loud and the final screen has very loud music.
Yes ,those are intentional but shouldn’t be too extreme. Of course I’m hard of hearing so my judgement could be off. lol 😂

My collection topped out at around 650 for C64 & Amiga, Genuinely buggers to display as there were so many different box sizes over that 10 year period. I'm down to the games with interesting bumph like the Infocom, Gold Box etc.
That's awesome! Thanks for Watching!
Congrats on three years of FDD, Tom!
Thanks for hanging around! 🙂
Missle command and choplifter were awesome
Thanks for Watching!
Lately, few months ago i returned to C128 (Emulator) because i always wanted to learn assembly language and make my own game 😁
Even after close to 4 decades later ... It's never too late 👆
Using Edass 128, native on C128 (VICE). So it's not a cross compiler.
Btw. I still have C128D and C128 and Plus 4 and 1541, 1571 ... Unfortunately, unused since very long time...
Awesome story!! Thanks for sharing!
One of my favorites was barbarian & paradroid
Those are great! Thanks for Watching!
👍😁😜Interesting choice... and I'm saying this being more Atari geek than Commodore... 😜
Thank you, sir! Thanks for Watching!
@@FloppyDeepDive 😉👊
No surprises. The only surprise is that you do not own more of the 6000 other games that are from bad to superior. Mayhem in Monsterland. Alter Ego. Infocom games. Giana Sisters. The many Sierra games on cartridge. Sirius Software. Synapse Software games. Etc.
These were just the ones that had value, I do have many other games that were not on that list. Thanks for watching!
Space Taxi, one of my favorites
Agree
My favourite games for the c64 were Target renegade, Turrican 1 & 2, aztec challenge, Blue max, Dan dare and creatures.
Such a great system... if the games didn't crash :)
Awesome! Thanks for Watching!
Wizard of wor was such an amazing game!
Right!! It is so fun!
Congratulations on 3 years Tom!!! My favorite game of all time, not just on the Commodore, is Defender of the Crown, I have the box and disk still.
Thanks! I need to get the original of Defender of the Crown. It’s on my list! I have the floppy just not the box.
Hi, just took down my old c64-c64c-c128-and about 400 game titles. Since you seem an avid c64 guy, are there any titles you dont have that I might?? thanks Tom
Are you talking about Original games, not copies? If so I'm sure you have something I don't, send me a list. Thanks
According to Pricecharting my top ten
Space Manbow MSX2 CIB $1710
Aleste 2 MSX 2 CIB $1467
Metal Gear 2 MSX 2 CIB $662
SD Snatcher MSX 2 CIB $599

Magical Tree MSX CIB $439
Rayman Atari Jaguar CIB $252l
Wow! Nice!
I still have all mine. I know i have Wasteland and MM. I think some of the others are considered rare like Nam by SSI.
Awesome!
I have a fair amount of c64 floppy disks w/the boxes and all the inserts... having a hard time finding where to price them out at... pricecharting doesn't have most of these. appreciate any suggestions
Awesome! You could check eBay and see what it sold for. Send me a list of what you have if you are selling.
I will check your site for an email when I get things put together. might be a bit. thanks!
Sounds good
Montezumas Revenge and Wizard of Wor! There is no equal!!!
They are great games!!
My fave back in then was Spellunker by Broaderbound similar to Momtezuma's Revenge. I remember playing that game for hours every day. :)
Congratulations on 3 years! I've enjoyed watching your cannel grow over the years. Thanks for all you do 🙂
Thank you, RB! Enjoyed your comments and support over the years!!
Congratulations on 3 years with your channel! Love this list and the retros that you do!
Thanks for Watching!
I'm assuming these are USA prices. Cheaper in the UK.
Bruce Lee was common in the UK.
Yes, I'm sure it's a cassette in the UK.
I think you forgot about the great giana sisters by Rainbow Arts
This list is just games I own. I don't own GGS. Thanks for Watching!
I have melodian concertmaster for commodore 64, is that rare?
Never heard of it.
Ugh this makes me feel badly. I had complete copies of Ducktales and Maniac Mansion.
Zak Mckraken and Project Firestart are also some c64 gems to collect
Yes, would love to add those two to my collection! Thanks for Watching!
I REALY LOVE MY C64 ❤❤❤❤ FOREVER ❤❤❤❤
Agree 100%, my friend!!
Some nice items in your collection! Thanks for Watching!
what about Project Firestart ! ;)
I don't own it.
I was really surprised that Maniac Mansion is THAT expensive.
Luckily you don't have to own an original copy to play the game 🙂
I guess the most expensive C64 game in Europe is probably the UK version of The Great Giana Sisters.
No Ultimas?
I wish I had them in my collection. They would make the list.
Hello, I’m looking for somebody to copy 20 of my favourite Commodore 64 games onto some floppy discs for me. I just bought a new system and I’m excited to play these old games. There’s about 20 games total that I’m looking for I could eat transfer money or do it through PayPal.
Do you already have a 1541 and floppies?
No I'm in the middle of purchasing at c64 computer system
Oh - i almost forgot - Congrats on the 3 years ! !
Thanks for Watching!
Hey I got my C=64 video up now for you to check out.
Thanks for sharing!
Duly Noted
Congrats on 3 years. The Commodore 64 was the co.puter to have in the 80's even after the NES came out.
My biggest dissapointment was that Sierra Online never released Space Quest or King's Quest for the C=64
Thanks! It really was amazing in the 80s. Those were big titles not to have on the C64. Now I do on my Tandy 1000sx
@SchardtCinematic That sounds really interesting. Would like to see some of those pics.
@SchardtCinematic Or even give it a shot myself. What do I need to do it on my C64?
@FloppyDeepDive sure is your email in your abot section? I'll send you the originsl photo along with the Commodore version
Congratulations 🎊
Thanks! I think you have been with me for all 3 years.
@FloppyDeepDive yes I think I have been ! It's been great to see your channel evolve. Still miss your original intro 😀
I'll have to bring it back every now and then.
Your missing a lot of the best games Pirates!, Impossible Mission, Wolfenstein, and more. These are more mainstream and most are not the real gems.
You didn’t read the title. This is the top 10 of MY collection. All those games you listed I do own but not in the Top 10 value wise.
1. Commodore c64 is a computer not a console
2. When the c64 appear the sound is annoying. Please level your audio
3. Try looking at the camera lens not its screen
Thanks for the constructive feedback. Do you have a channel?
who values these games?
