      Both ecosystems create tons of jobs, but likely drive inefficient producers out of business due to superior competition.
      When you have powerful tools like these platforms, there is work that needed to be done, that is being done by them, and that makes it easier for you to add value in other areas.
      But you can't just continue on as before. You're not going to do the things that a giant does well, very well yourself.
      Amazon makes it easier for sellers to not have to think about many problems, and ultimately Alibaba does the same, but with a more decentralized model in all areas.
      Whereas, if Amazon sees a large inconvenience for customers, it tries to put small teams on solving the problems and making progress, itself.
      I'm sure Alibaba has found other ways to encourage progress in those areas - and there are pros and cons, to both approaches.

    What I really felt and learned from his words is that Amazon improved delivery time by themselves through their own technology, while Alibaba empowered smaller companies to improve themselves in terms of services to a similar functionality to those of Amazon.
    This gave me an impression that Amazon is someone who does the job all alone, and Alibaba as someone who is a leader who knows how to guide, and help others in order to achieve a goal.

      After the talk with musk I watched a lot of videos. He talks very well, and his train of though is usually very interesting. His attitude towards life is also quite amusing. All in all one can see why he became as successful.
      The problem is, he has no idea about A.I. or technology in general. So if he has to talk about it, obviously he will fail. Perhaps the biggest mistake, was that he was very confident in speaking about something he didn't know much about.

      Jack Ma is not a genius, nor a crook, but a genius crook. First, everyone must understand that in China there is no real private enterprise which can reach Fortune 500 without Chinese Communist Government (CCG)’s control behind it. What worse is that the control is often not exercised by government but by top level corrupted government officials and their family members. There is no secret that several most powerful CCG officials and their family members are the top shadow shareholders of Alibaba. Second, those top level government officials have used Alibaba to laundry hundreds of billions embezzled monies out of China, mostly through now CCG controlled Hong Kong and into Western countries, particularly the U.S. Third, Alibaba has no new technology nor innovation but just a cheap copy of Ebay and Amazon. CCG has not only used Alibaba to stop foreign businesses such as Ebay and Amazon entering into Chinese market, but also given Alibaba monopoly in Chinese market, upon which Ma/Alibaba’s successful myth is really about. For example, receiving deposits and paying interest are the financial and banking industries monopolied by the government, and many individuals and entrepreneurs have been imprisoned or even punished with death penalty because of raising capitals among friends and local people. Ma/Alibaba is the only non-state-run and non-banking business capable of receiving deposits and paying interest in China. Ma gave numerous speeches all over the world about how he became one of the richest persons in the world and how to become successful and so on, but none of what he said was true. Ma simply is the smiling face of the most evil dictatorship regime in human history, the CCG, which imprisoned Liu Xiaobo, the Chinese Nobel Peace Prize laureate till his death on July 13, 2017 - something that even Adolf Hitler was not dare to do. Mostly importantly, in return for CCG’s favor, Ma has shamelessly promoted for CCG the dictatorship ideology and publicly supported CCG’s Tiananmen Square massacre in 1989 using tanks and machine guns against its own peaceful people! Ma is a new phenomena challenging the conscience of every one of us in this fast-changing world - do we still respect universal human values as our first priority, or money is everything and we should do whatsoever we can to get money, power, and fame, like Jack Ma?

      No, Amazon is also mainly a marketplace for countless producers to sell their products.
      The main difference is that Alibaba is mainly B2B, and sells more wholesale stuff, and Amazon is mainly direct to consumer.
      So Amazon puts more direct effort into improving experience for the consumer, itself.

    That is a very good philosophy with good argument. I love the idea of empowering the people who sell the products instead of owning the product like Amazon. Alibaba is a win win for both party.

    • @Leto2ndAtreides
      @Leto2ndAtreides 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Amazon is mostly other people selling products.
      Amazon just simplifies a lot of it. You send your products to Amazon's warehouses, and then Amazon takes care of offering 2 day shipping (or less) as possible.
      It's just that Amazon tries to improve more parts of the experience directly.
      Amazon also takes more responsibility when someone has a bad experience.
      Like, one time, I had $400 worth of products stolen because the delivery guy left it in front of the door.
      And the Amazon rep I called (not for a refund, just to try to get the last item in that batch sent to another location that might be safer), decided to refund the entire $400.
      Now that might not always happen, but in comparison, that's not something Alibaba would likely do. They offer other approaches for being sure of a better experience, of course.

Problem with Amazon will be same as Netflix when business realize they aren’t making the profit as they should. Much like Disney+/Hulu/Peacock/HBO Max strong companies will have their own digital strategies. You can’t compete with Amazon by continuing to sell on their site because they will kill you and compete with you but rather to take away your product entirely and have your own digital strategy!

    The Amazon model has been adopted by China's JD, the major domestic rival of Alibaba. Jack Ma's model is more similar to ebay, but with much better management and regulations. Moreover Alibaba was created as a B2B website and they're still the leading B2B platform in the world today. That allows them more flexibility or margins of error when running B2C and C2C.

    • @nicolashrv
      @nicolashrv 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You mean Aliexpress........Alibaba is a B2B platform where companies learn about other companies and services.
      I would say eBay is a piece of garbage compared to Aliexpress. eBay is in the dark ages compared to them.......they now improved their logistics to a level in which you can receive updates of your orders on your phone, you learn when the mail arrives your country, when it arrives the delivery office, and when the mail is out for delivery.
      They protect the buyer as long the seller in equal shares, and their resolution service is 100 times faster than eBay, which has NO CUSTOMER support at all and you can screw yourself if there is a problem.
      Aliexpress also charges 10% to the seller, while eBay is now in around 17% plus taxes, so you end up spending up to 30% of your sales when you include Paypal.

      alibaba is the name of the company, they own many other businesses. However when we are talking about them we refer to them as alibaba.
      like taobao 淘宝 which is a platform made by alibaba, which dominates china and made amazon to forget about doing business seriously in china.
      They don't use aliexpress in china. And Taobao is freaking huge. You can buy almost anything. Supermarket goods, Fresh food, Clothes, Electronics, Cars, Airplane, even small things like plastic tubes etc

But he made a short "movie" about him being a Martial Arts Master beating up the best Martial Arts movie stars and in the end it was all a daydream. It was his dream of being included in one movie with the best of the best and that dream was made into a movie creating somewhat a paradox of itself. Smart guy.
