I am a Jamaican of Indian, Pakistan, sri Lankan, and Bangladesh ancestry, and I look at the 501 he scored in the county championship, and the 400 Not out in the test match, as 2 of the greatest batting performances that I have ever seen in the history of international cricket. No one should ever compare another player to Sir Brian Charles Lara.
Let people compare. It will stand Lara in even better stead to emerge by far the greatest left hander I have ever watched. I love Brian Lara. He made my so many days and motivated me to entertain the stakeholders in my field. Absolute Genius.
I always say this: Brian Charles Lara to me is the Michael Jordan of International Cricket. He was just superb to watch because he had that focus, determination, mental toughnes, Winning persona and the "Eye Test" for the game.
@@davidmckenzie9184McGrath has better stats because of Australia's outstanding fielding. Wasim could easily finish his career with 100+ wickets if he plays for Aussies.
It was an honour and a privilege to see Lara and his many exploits for the West Indies as a young boy growing up. The game vs Australia where he scored 153 not out to win the game for West Indies was particularly special as I saw every ball, every four, every six on my television and felt all the emotions of that great win. Wonderful times as a 16-year old; great inspiration!
B C Lara easily will go down in the history of cricket as one of the top five greatest batsman of all time ... his unique high backlift and flair of the left hander will remain unmatched ... his records don't define his actual talent ... it won't be wrong to say he is the roger federer of cricket ... I remember he smashed a young waqar younis for three consecutive boundaries on the off side before being bowled by him with a yorker ... the way he hit the ball for boundaries with that high backlift off deliveries over 145 kmph is unbelievable... he is for a reason the Prince of cricket...
To break one world record in cricket is a phenomenon all by itself ....to break more than one and to retake another is simply the stuff of dreams and legends......the only batsman to ever give me goosebumps....even to this day.....BCL is simply the greatest ever.
To break that record once but to do it twice at age 36 you have to be amongst the best. Mc grath and lara had a big rival but hearing mcgrath talking like that. It shows some sought of respect to the great man. Thanks for your kind words mcgrath.
That 277 was his best innings I think absolutely flawless from start to finish, there is a real possibility that if Carl hooper hadn’t run him out the record may have gone there and then that 375 was pretty flawless as well to be fair
Brian will always be the best for me. He had a god given talent. If i had to pay money to watch a man bat back then or todays game brian would always and forever be that guy.
Some judge batsmen by the number of runs they make, some by the manner in which they were made, some by the kind of opposition against whom they were made, some by the circumstances in which they were made. By either criteria, with both formats in mind, Brian Charles Lara is undisputedly one of the top-5(others being Sachin, Sir Jack Hobbs, King Viv and the Don himself) greatest of all-time.
The Don scored 309 in a day in a test. That was just his share. Test average will stand significantly alone forever. Played in an era with inferior equipment and uncovered pitches and lost 10 years of playing due to WW2. During this period Sir Don played another Australian sporting virtuoso in Sir Walter Lindrum who is regarded as the greatest billiards/snooker player of all time. The first time they played Sir Walter broke and Sir Don didn't get to play a shot. Sir Walter cleared the table, 147. The next time they played Sir Don said it was only fair that he got to break. Sir Walter didn't get to play as Sir Don cleared the table, 147. These two remarkable men played their sports to a level where certain opponents and officials challenged the rules just to try and beat them. Bodyline and outlawing the cradle canon in billiards. That's the definition of GREATEST. None come close.
Roshan Ariyaratnam, was Phil Simmons a wasted talent because he didn't play in wc 1996 & after wc 99 & what went wrong that Desmond Haynes & Gordon Greenidge didn't play in wc 96 & wc 99 for West Indies, please let me know.
Gm don't matter who broke records or not brain lara was the best stroke player with plenty of master strokes of all kind sgainst the best of bowlers none of them scored 500 hundred runs in an innings
Gm is brian lara not suppose to be in the hall of fame, no other batman domibated any type of bowling like lara, tge rest of those players played more cricket than him be he was the vest to watch batting and gived we all enjoyment to cheered for, cone on people give brian lara a real tojen to carry west indies cricket batting forward, offer him if he exccepts give him the chance to manage the batting and feet movement while occuping the crease
Not one of the greatest. He's the best test batsman in the world. No one ever score 400yet. I don't know why they keep putting Tendulkar over him. Tendulkar can't an will never do what Lara did. Can Tendulkar score 400?

Absolutely well said! One Luv ❤!!!
This is so true.
But fake cricket God (tendulkar, bradman) supporters will cry when hearing this truth.

At around 6:00 mark, the comment alone is sufficient. "Don Bradman said that it was probably the greatest innings he's ever watched". Wow!
I always say this: Brian Charles Lara to me is the Michael Jordan of International Cricket. He was just superb to watch because he had that focus, determination, mental toughnes, Winning persona and the "Eye Test" for the game.
Performing in an era of Donald,Waqar,Wasim Akram,Shane Warne and Muttiah what a player
Much stronger era back then of Test cricket.
Glenn McGrath don't forget him. better than any fast bowler listed, wasim relatively close second
@@davidmckenzie9184 I think Akram was a better bowler than McGrath. Wasim did more with the ball than McGrath did.
@@davidmckenzie9184McGrath has better stats because of Australia's outstanding fielding. Wasim could easily finish his career with 100+ wickets if he plays for Aussies.
Stylistically and Statistically, Lara is the undisputed GOAT of batting. No disrespect to Sachin who is great, but Lara is exceptional.

Best and most stylish. Federer of cricket. And Roger is Lara of tennis.
153*, 213, 277, 182, 100 of 66, 153 at sharjah... unforgettable.
Brian Charles Lara is one the most phenomenal cricketers ever
The pure joy of watching Lara in form!
Have never been tired watching this gem bating ❤
Best attacking batsman in TEST CRICKET🌹
Not only the best attacking batsman.. he is simply the best batsman ever..

Boy that gave me goosebumps

The modern greatest batsman for mine.
Best batsmen of a generation if not any generation
Completely agree with Justin Langer. Brian Lara's batting is simply exquisite and everybody else is a distant second.
❤❤❤❤❤❤from india
Super star of all time
Wold best batsman,, lara 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹👍
Stats aside, he was the best!
If Lara would have in Team India, then he could have created many records in Test and ODI
A complete match winner
I have a huge respect for Tendulkar, ponting, etc but Lara was a class apart,,a true genius just because of his ability to win matches single handedly
Greatest of all time❤❤
2:38 ,the diminutive B Lara as a school boy prodigy.
Great man

The 🐐
Brian Lara the greatest west Indian batsman of all time

Laras teqnique is automatically matching with sir isaac Newton law.
Rotational inertia and gravity power.
If a batsman breaks that 400 brian lara will come out of retirement 😂😂
🙂
😂
2nd best batsman of all time after sir viv.
He's given the mantle to be the greatest in cricket.
I concur wth arthurs. He was fortunate to hve recieved a double if memory is correct
18:38 Runs to win: -3
An impossible task if I've ever seen one. 😂
😂😂

Brian Lara is an All-Time Great. He is in my opinion, the best batsman I have seen, just ahead of Sachin Tendulkar.
Sachin Tendulkar is the world number one batsman. Brian Lara is second. Okay
Your wasting your time sir . If you notice who bowlers fear most .Lara is the only man to score 400 runs ok. 500 runs ok
Lara was one of the all time greats but not above Sachin..not by any means
