He thanked everyone who supported him throughout his 24-year long career and shared his memories and emotions. He said that his life between 22 yards for 24 years was hard to believe that it had come to an end. He also said that the chant of “Sachin, Sachin” would reverberate in his ears till he stopped breathing. I felt a deep respect for him as a cricketer and a human being. Been watching cricket since '95 - Sachin at 23yrs OLD (i had just started working when I was 23) was the highest scorer in 1996 World Cup.
2003 World Cup (7 YEARS later) he was highest scorer and also made 673 runs which is record of most runs in World Cup history
2010 (14 YEARS after 1996 and 2yrs before he retired from white ball cricket) he scored a T20 century, won the IPL orange cap which I never expected Sachin to win as T20 wasn’t his format plus he was old - also he was the FIRST INDIAN BATSMAN to win the IPL orange cap - despite the fact he didn’t play T20 internationals and also was at the END of his career.
2010 he also scored the first ODI double century,
2011 (15YEARS after 1996) again one year before he retired, he was World cup’s 2nd highest leading scorer in the World Cup which we won and was only 10runs less in total runs than Dilshan. - between that he scored 100 centuries in an era where white ball watches avg score was 250 and 300 total looked unchaseable / too daunting.- that’s why he is the GOAT. Unparalleled longevity while holding the highest public expectations burden put on an Indian cricketer.

This documentary deserves an Emmy. Kept me emotional all through. Cricket is just not a physical sport. The results are determined by what goes on between the ears. I wish young cricketers get to watch this documentary and learn how to build the mindset to execute on the field. It was a privilege to have witnessed the visuals.

Beautiful documentary. I am one of those millions of Indians who lost the interest post his retirement. BCCI received some flak for arranging a series with WI so that Sachin could retire at Mumbai. But people didn't understand that Sachin heroics in 90s brought the crowds to the stadiums & in front of TV and BCCI ended up earning all the money they have. So yes, he thoroughly deserved that fairwell.

“It wouldn’t be right of me to speak about the similarities, I would leave that to his family.”

One of the best documentaries I've watched. I had met Coward as a journalist when he had come to India decades ago. He was an iconic cricket writer even then. If he says, "those who have not seen Bradman, were lucky to see Tendulkar play", then it must be true.

I for one is inclined to believe that what prompted Sir Donald to say that “ he ( Sachin) reminds me of my self “ is 1) economy of action: straight to the point as it were... nothing absolutely unnecessary. 2) straight bat. Superb balance, no semblance of a crouch. 3) regal stance. These must have resonated in the heart of the master, Sir Donald Bradman.

Bradman’s record of 12 double hundreds is still unbroken . As well as 2 Triple tons has only been equalled by Sehwag & Gayle . Another great video on TH-cam about Bradman is “Bodyline “ starring Hugo Weaving which tells the story of that tour . Another interesting fact that when Australian PM visited Nelson Mandela in jail , he was asked by Mandela “ Tell me Prime Minister, is Sir Bradman still alive ?” . Bradman truly was biggest sports star in inter war period.

Special. Once-in-a-generation cricketers. Bradman is the first and foremost example of a statistical outlier that comes to my mind- the GREATEST that we are unlucky to have never actually seen in action. Tendulkar is the hearthrob of a billion-plus nation and is a time-transcending phenomenon who grew as India grew as a country- he is seeped into every common Indian's life, the GREATEST that we have been lucky to see in flesh & blood.
