Apparently when Mike Flanagan showed the uncut scene to Stephen King, King told him it was one of the worst things he’d ever seen and it needed to be way edited or else people were gonna be traumatized. Honestly, if you can look up interviews about this scene, do it because it’s so funny. If you don’t feel like it, here’s what happened:
Basically, everyone was really concerned about Tremblay. It’s a harrowing scene and they didn’t want to traumatize him. When he’d gotten the role a few weeks prior his dad was like, “Oh yeah, we’ll practice. It’s gonna be great!”
So cut to the night of filming (it’s Tremblay’s birthday btw), he and his dad show up. Flanagan offered to kind of do a mock run so Tremblay would know what to do. Tremblay declines and requests that they just do it. Meanwhile, his dad is talking to Flanagan, going, “This is going to be amazing. You just wait.”
The cast is all joking with Tremblay, going, “Ahh! I’m so gonna kill you!” Making light of it. Again, everyone is terrified that they’re gonna traumatize this poor child. Flanagan shouts action, the scene starts and Tremblay full on goes off script, he’s pleading for his life, he’s begging, he’s screaming. Meanwhile the props people are dumping blood on him and everyone is just shocked and taken way aback. Flanagan shouts cut and Tremblay is super fine. His dad gives him a thumb’s up. Meanwhile, the cast is so distraught that they literally couldn’t shoot with him, they had to shoot their scenes separately (I think Ferguson had just had a baby around this time. So this BIG time fucked her up.). At the end of the night, Tremblay had cake with the crew and left, happy as can be. But the cast and crew were mortified. 😂
This scene also caused problems for the editors because they had to turn the volume down so that the halls weren’t filled with the terrified screams of a child.
😂😂😂 Thanks for this.
Honestly, kudos to Jacob's parents who seem to be helping him navigate this industry in a healthy way, to the point he can reach his full potential without getting traumatized in the process, something not even some adult actors are able to do.
*They knew that they needed to show them this is all pretend, I let my son watch action movies, like Logan or John Wick, or some Gory movies since was 10, I explain to him that in reality you wouldn't survive if you act that way, that this isn't reality at all, but it's funny to watch it on movies, those parents made this shoot feel like a playdate so he wasn't modified by the reality of this happening in real life*
I think Flanagan mentioned in a podcast that Rebecca also has a son around the same age as Jacob
If that's really the case I want to see a director's cut with unedited scenes
From what I've heard, Tremblay kinda fucked up all the actors who played the Knot, his screaming and stuff was so like horrible on the day. Dude worked his ass off that day
I heard he traumatized everyone on set and his dad was off camera giving him a thumbs up. 😂
@@Sharpe1502 thank you 😂😂😂
@@Sharpe1502 that's actually really sweet.
The movie is “Doctor Sleep”.
The director said half of the crew left the room! 😄
Props to the kid, most movie scenes don't get me like that but that one really bothered me. I like the movie but have avoided watching it a second time because of that scene.
Yeah i feel the same way. Thought i could take anything movies could throw at me but that scene really got to me
Same. Horror movies don't do anything to me because they're just so unbelievable. But that kid... he was really being tortured (it seemed) and I was so torn up watching that.
I feel the same way about the scene in the movie remake of a horror flick where the girl is raped in the woods and left for dead and the parents take in the stranded “hikers” who need help only for the daughter to survive and make it back to their cabin and then they realize it was those people who harmed their daughter and they seek revenge; I believe Monica Potts plays the mother in the remake. The name is escaping me at the moment but I’ve avoided rewatching that movie specifically because of that scene
@@ashleygrant3131 The Last House On The Left. And yeah that one is really disturbing too.
Same! I cried so hard watching that scene, and I'm not sure I could watch it again
That kid gave one heckuva performance. The whole cast was great but the kid really hit a nerve.
That's because it wasn't a performance... he was traumatized by the event
@@governmentname4088no he wasn’t the rest of that cast were by his performance because it was so good but he and his dad had a blast with it. There’s interviews talking about this
@@governmentname4088 No, the adults were the traumatized ones.
How can anyone not like this woman? She's so genuine.
Who doesn't like her? Hot, funny, talented. What's there not to like?
I agree, but Hugh Grant disagrees with us apparently.
@@Officeaccount3250is the Internet now positive that he was the jackass?
How? She seems overly triggered, accusing somebody of using passive aggression.
Well, she's an actress. I don't think it's really possible to judge how genuine any of these people are in interview.
I think I would also break down into utter gasping tears if I heard a little boy or girl cry like that. That little actor was so so SO good at his rol. It was so believable and heart wrenching
It is one of the most harrowing scenes I've ever seen. No real gore, just the child's screams.
That scene was heartbreaking
It fucked me up. I could barely watch the rest of the movie
That part was hard to watch. That kid has TALENT
He is so good in that scene that it’s worth warning if the person you’re watching it with is really sensitive to that kind of scenario. Because damn.
Every mother will tell you a child has different cries. If a child actor can pull off an actual cry of real distress on command, and not just cry "sounding" noises... they have a real talent.
This scene and the young child version of Dexter crying in the container shake me to my core any time i watch
Same, and they kept replaying that scene of little Dexter the entire season, it was horrific
I'm not going to lie. That scene haunts me. I literally cried so hard I was dry heaving, and I couldn't stop for hours. Every time the show made a reference to it after that too. I still cry sometimes when I think about it, like now I have tears in my eyes.
Omg I watched it in theaters and almost left at this scene, his screams were so heart wrenching and real it was traumatizing. Love that he just asked for a coke after 🤣
Him and the boy who played Georgie in IT, especially that opening scene... hearing them scream makes my mommy instincts go into overdrive and my heart hurts. Speaks to how talented they are.
That scene was THE worst. I love the movie, and skip this part every time!
When it started i got too nauteous to watch. Love the movie. Fast forward through that
@@hillary1161same here I saw it in theatre and it was brutal. The movie is fantastic but that scene is horrible
That scene she was referencing was from Doctor Sleep and it is brutal
Truly such a good movie
Most underrated comment!
Hero. Thank you 🙏🏽
The human instinct to save each other. Love it!
This scene fucked me up, im so glad im seeing this because it helps to break that image😮💨😅
Whats the movue called
@@asmaterfani8138 Doctor Sleep, it's the second part to The Shinning
I love horror and I remember being so shocked by that scene because you don’t usually see children being murdered and tortured start to finish on film like that. I love the movie but fast forward through that part every time now.
That scene was horrific
Horrific and terrific xD
I love horror and this is one of my favorite movies, but the first time I watched this scene his screams had such a visceral effect on me that I had to pause the movie for about 30 minutes until I could get myself back under control. It was instinctive. I heard a child in trouble and it didn’t matter that it was a movie. In that moment my animal brain said, “Baby in trouble! Save the baby!”
"Shit shit shit im gonna ruin his take" is so wholesome in a way
super intense scene, great acting
she is so talented, ive seen her play so many interesting characters, from mission impossible, to dune, to white queen, elizabeth woodville, keep up the good work
Pigs before slaughter. 😂😂😂😂😂
The kid was a better actor than the adults. 😂
The most mesmerising actor of the current crop - she completely sells whatever crazy thing she is meant to be experiencing.
That scene messed me up. It was disturbing.
I like how he traumatized them instead
That scene was one of the most strikingly horrifying moments I've seen on film. Props to that kid - he sold it.
That was the most messed up scene in a movie, ever, to me...
It was like he was really suffering. Actual pain and suffering.
It was extremely difficult to watch.
Next time read the book first. King have great books. And the reality in those books..... Great for you 😊
That would destroy me inside as a mother i couldn't do no shxt like that. I cried that whole movie because these poor children bought and sold all over the world for this sickness these evil people in this world has. This actually happens to a lot of kidnapped and missing children. Absolutely awful
Oooh i remember this scene it was quite traumatising
She and the kid were brilliant in it though
This is a good representation of being a mother to a kid who screams all the time. Kids set off your fight and flight - its hard to deal with
I watched that film on a plane and omg I was not prepared for the emotional journey it was. And then I watched the director’s cut which was even better and more heart breaking than I even remembered
I think about that scene all the time. Jacob's a damn good actor.
I first saw this stunning lady on Dr Sleep and was blown away be her acting. Now I seek her out. She is a true shape shifters, she is different every time. Truly a brilliant actress.
RIGHT?! I did not realise it was her in Dune until I looked it up
Jacob Tremblay has been in lots of movies and some of them are big ones but he is still an underrated actor.
I saw this movie when it came out and this scene had me distraught for an entire week. Incredible acting but the emotion behind this scene made me vow never to watch it again. Fantastic film, but way too real!
Honestly this kid is amazing in everything I've seen him in. Like, one of those rare moments where everything aligns just right and the right kid is cast for the right role and acts their ass off. We need big awards for young actors too imho. Some of them are overshadowed or overlooked due to their age but really manage to outperform some of their adult counterparts and they need more recognition for that.
Dr. Sleep was the first time I'd seen Rebecca Ferguson in a role, and it's hard not to see her as evil in other roles. Rose the Hat is a VERY memorable character...🎩👪🗡🌬😬
Same! First time I had seen her and although her character was evil I loved her 😍 the entire movie and cast were just spectacular
She is so talented and gorgeous ❤❤
Scariest scene in movie history! Even the shining never scared me ( a you had to be there kind of scary), but Dr. Sleep messed me up forever...that poor kid, it did sound real and gut-wrenching.
movie 🎬 doctor sleep
It's a sequel to the famous movie called the shining
She was the best thing about this movie. ❤
Jacob Tremblay was masterful in that scene! I am getting goosebumps just thinking about it! The begging and the screaming… it was next level and took me to a very dark place. I didn’t sleep that night cuz I kept hearing it over and over. Still can’t watch that scene, to this day. I have to skip over it and I’m a big horror fan, that is saying something! Well done kid.. well done!! 👍🏻
Jacob Tremblay is such an incredible young actor! I remember when I watched before I wake with him in and I absolutely loved his acting! He’s such a star
Honestly kudos to the dad who practised and made it a fun experience for his son waiting with thumbs up and a coke
I remember watching that scene, usually kids in movies no big deal but God that kids acting I will admit I teared up
This movie fast became one of my favorites.
Her eyes are almost like they were in the movie during that scene. Wow.
I absolutely love that she went make-up free for this whole press cycle
With a face like that who needs make up
This is what you would call a “natural” makeup look lol. Her eyebrows look penciled, I can see brown mascara. But it’s all very light. She’s definitely very naturally pretty.
That kid everyone needs to keep an eye out for he’s gonna be big time. He’s so funny! Great actor.
One of the most disturbing scenes I've ever watched. I had read the book and knew it was coming, but damn! Tremblay is one of the best child actors ever.
That's the kid in the Room movie with Captain Marvel, right?
Yess
I watched it with a couple of friends and it was a most difficult viewing. Unexpectedly distressing, as suspending belief was difficult in the presence of such a convincing performance.
This scene was so unhinged! I don't get squirmy easily but this kid did an amazing job at selling us his torture and fear. I actually cried watching it.
Oh she’s the lady from Dr. Sleep?!?!? I didn’t recognize her at first. She killed it in that flick.
He knocked that scene out of the park. His screams were so visceral….
Watched sooo many movies, but this was the most disturbung scene of a murder ever experienced before...😰👌🏼
First scene in a movie to make me so uncomfortable that I couldn't watch.
Hearing this after learning about why Jennette McCurdy was able to portray horrific scenes so well concerns me. I hope the kid is okay.
Jennette McCurdy was never a super amazing child actress. She's decent, and also an astoundingly fantastic writer. But I really don't think a kid could do something like this without being into it
@@LeiasartYeah, Jennette was notable for being able to cry on cue, which is tough for any actor let alone a child actor. Jacob did that x100000. And agreed, Jennette is an excellent writer and I can't wait for her fiction debut.
Excellent movie...
I adore Rebecca Ferguson in everything she’s in!!❤❤
It's still One of the most hardest things I've ever watched or heard. As a parent
She truly is an underrated actress..
She's very rated
That scene and the one from Deathly Hollows when Hermione is with Bellatrix l, that scream Emma gives 👌
What movie is this? From the sound of these comments i may never be able to watch it.
Doctor Sleep
It's an actual representation of how "they" drink the blood of children to stay young. The real life rituals that people do say Hollywood (not claiming her) actually do. It called Adrenochrome and they call it a conspiracy of course.
Dr sleep- it’s a sequel to the shining
To be fair it is the most disturbing part of the film, I'm really sensitive and I just knew I would never be able to get it out of my head. The kid was a great actor too, made it all the more harrowing 😂
This kid will get his Oscar someday.
What movie was this?
I had to turn it off at that point and come back later.
This scene....left an impression on me.
I loved this film so much oh my gosh
One prepares for life believing they will withstand what they face... At the moment of any event, you will never know beforehand if you will react the way you thought.
Most underrated sequel of all time.
That movie was great. I haven't even started the book because im scared of how much better it will be
Fine I’ll rewatch Dr Sleep now
She was perfect as Rose.
Kid said "Ok,then. Watch this." 😊
Tears, on the side of my face..
“Like a pig screaming before slaughter”
Pigs: 💀
😭😭😭
such an underated movie
I literally had my nails digging into my arms so hard during that scene
I couldn't watch it, it almost physically hurt my heart.
Yes
I feel uncomfortable hearing children shrieking in a store- I can’t imagine this one. I read a comment on Reddit how they absolutely hated this movie bc of this scene. It was shot very -> strangely
Omg she had tears that started pouring! #GFC
She rocks a Tophat.
I love her acting 🎭 she’s amazing 🤩
Tremblay is seasoned actor by now
what happens in the scene? Super curious, but I can’t watch these kind of films 🫣
I would like to know it too
she’s torturing the kid to feed off of his pain (literally) and she draws it out to get more from him and it’s really horrifying
They just told the kid "scream like when you throw one of them temper tantrums at the grocery store when we don't want to buy you the skittles"
What movie is this
This movie was pretty good
Que mujer tan bella
what scene is this and movie? so i could see it on youtube
WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE MOVIE!
Dr sleep I believe
@@inherbeautyrising thank you
From her interviews, I want to go see her movies hehe she’s too fun
What movie is this?
This movie was very disturbing 😢
Jacob portrayed that scene disturbingly well, I was impressed and horrified.
