I can’t wait for liquid laundry soap to be replaced by the detergent sheets. The plastic colored containers aren’t recyclable because of the vibrant colors. At least with powdered detergent, the box was recyclable. Most supermarkets no longer carry powder detergent but they are starting to sell the detergent sheets.
I love it Adam and Stacey, you can wash off soap. Just a thing to keep everyone out of there. You keep going back and that dumpster keeps on giving. If you are patient you can dig a lot from the pile even with de detergent on. You guys did a good job, though I would have taken all the mops and dust and brooms and totes
they got lucky the first time getting so much stuff, dollar general is actually supposed to destroy all products that go in the trash, that stops people from getting them and then trying to return them to the store to get money back or store credit.

I'm not sure why they can't work with a local donation non profit, but I don't think any of them do. Also one of the reasons for destroying products is recalls and out of dates, so people won't eat them and get sick or so pets don't get sick as well.
There were lids to the detergent bottles laying right on top. Even if the bottles were only half full that’s better than empty. And there were a couple big totes you could have put stuff in. All those mops & brooms were a good find; you should have taken them all.

For those wishing they could find those kind of dumpsters, the empty ones mean that the business has the decency and courage to donate rather than throw away useable items. Here in Las Cruces New Mexico a lot of big businesses give to the Las Cruces Gospel Rescue Mission homeless shelter rather than throwing the merchandise away.

Our tax laws in this country are horrible. The reason companies throw things away is they can take a 100% write off on their taxes. But if they donated they can only take 50% off. So it's a bigger tax write-off if they just throw it out but they don't have to ruin it. They actually could bag it and or box it so that dumpster divers can come and take it away and donate it. But they are afraid too many people are taking it home for themselves. They don't realize how many people are donating it and the people who do take it home need it for themselves, as well! And they are spending their gas and their time and resources in order to go get it in order to donate it. And they don't take that into consideration either!
Report them to the Environmental Protection Agency. It is illegal for them to pour any product that may be harmful to the environment into the dumpster that may leak into the ground.
