    Great Vid, thanks for sharing! I just wanted to add an alternative routing option to accommodate 32 Inserts: Card Out 1-32 can be set to the local/stagebox inputs you are using (So the preamps go direct to waves). Inputs (Local - desk layer) 1-32 can be set to Card 1-32 (to return the waves. Caveats: 1. Head amp control would have to be done in Setup->Preamps. 2. Aux sends of channels using plugins would be affected 3. if you don't require fx, don't use plugins - it just has to be routed like the other channels. 4. This wouldn't accommodate send/return effects like reverb with an aux. However... I use a mix of this and your configuration with great results. i.e. 1-24 as above, 25-30 as inserts and sends fx. USB has latency and could be acceptable. Made and sound grid reduces this and also allows tap of for recording.

    There is an even better solution, if you need more than 6 channels or might like to use the Aux Out ports for external analogue gear or something else. The best solution would be to just leave the insert unassigned, go to the routing menu, go to P16 tab and select Direct Out of the desired channels or any Main/MTX/Bus you like, pre fader. Then go to the card tab and select the P16 channels to be sent to the PC. Now you have done the Output to card thing completely independent from any physical ports or Aux channels on the X32. Of course this is only possible if you're not using P16s, but nobody uses them at the FOH mixer... for monitoring mixers you don't need to have a PC plugins insert chain anyway. Last but not least, make sure to unassign the channels from the mains that are played back from the PC to the console. If you don't run any monitors at all with the console, you can skip the whole process, just send all physical inputs directly to the PC, make your optimization, send it out back to the mixer and assign the channel-inputs to card 1-32, done.

      Uh, nobody? We use them and send from the FOH mixer. Most churches don’t have the luxury of having a second board just for the monitor mix. The p16s allow the band to mix it themselves

      Just included your recommendation in my configuration notes. Just got the MIDAS 32 stage box and the M32C single space, and plan to use plugins with the system. Currently doing a configuration write up so that the set up is as trouble free as possible. I like your thinking, and was worried that I would be using up many of the features, and not managing output configurations as best as possible. I’ve known about the ultranet option, but thought you needed to purchase the hardware to take advantage of P16. Thanks for your knowledge.

    Will you do a similar walkthrough helping people use Live Professor? Not locked into using Waves plugins so you open up to a lot of industry wide plugins. Such as Trigger2 for live drum replacement. I use a few plugins from Native Instruments. And there are thousands of free plugins available out there. You can even use Kontakt and play instruments thru the configuration. With card routing and returns thru unused channels, you could process 16 or more channels versus six via Aud 1-6.

    Maybe I got this wrong but the way he sets the routing in the X32 with the user outs makes him lose 6 of the 16 outputs. There is a better way to do this. In the Input Routing page, you change the Aux In block for Card 1 - 6. Then, you go to the Card tab (Expansion card outputs) and for the first 1 - 8 block, you select Aux 1-6/Mon. Voilà. No need to sacrifice outputs. You’ll be able to select any of the 6 aux insert on any channel/bus/matrix. That’s the way I’ve been using Live Professor for years now. This way, I still have the 16 outputs available for other usage (monitor/iem mixes, seperate subs from tops, front fills, delays, etc)

    • @christianschneidawind5620
      @christianschneidawind5620 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You got this wrong with the outputs, because you have 16 Outputs PLUS 6 Aux Out physically on the X32 and if you're using stageboxes it won't be an issue anyway to block the Aux Out ports. BUT there is an even better way, that I will post in a separate comment.

    • @ksdgslgk
      @ksdgslgk ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@christianschneidawind5620 Yes you are right, I was still asleep when I first watched the video haha. Nonetheless, he doesn't need to make a custom user out with the aux out 1-6 because assigning Card's output to Aux 1-6/Mon does the same exact thing and saves you a step. Using a user out would allow you to use other outputs for 7-8.

    • @jmacjobs
      @jmacjobs ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Just do a quick google search on the round trip latency of the USB card. USB 2.0 devices have a safety buffer which adds latency that cannot be avoided, in addition to any latency introduced by your computer potentially not being able to crunch the numbers fast enough. Actual Waves servers run at such low buffers they are able to process audio in less than 1ms, much like the processing in the X32 itself (round trip is something like .87ms). USB should only be used for recording or playback, but not for processing channels live. Simply too much latency

    Is it possible to run effects like that and still have a separate live stream mix?
    I use the P16 channels, Output channels, and a Mac with another interface to create a live stream mix that is sent to OBS by the other interface directly. This allows for volunteers to mix on the board and then set and forget livestream mix. As well as them having the ability to totally control muting of livestream elements from the board through direct outs.
    X32 card outs (Via Direct Outs) -> Daw -> Behringer Uphoria -> OBS
    That’s the signal flow.
    But that sucks up our channels.
    So I am not sure I would be able to return the audio back into the board to do effects like this.
    If I can, someone let me know! We have in ears and floor speakers and mains. So it might just be impossible.

    I’m pretty sure you can just use card ins and outs. You don’t need to patch using inserts.
    Also that mix bus “prefader” is not the tap point for inputs to the bus but rather the bus output related to the fader, so there is some misinformation here

    How taxes is this on a M1 Mac Mini 8GB? Could it handle PP7 (livestreaming from PP7) and Superrack/Autotune without issues? In my testing is seems like a light weight program. I have done this with StudioOne 5 from a separate Computer but it would be nice to only have one computer to not complicate our setup.

  • @indi2174

    @2:06 .. are you doing the vocal channel as a single main bus.. so that what ever vocal channel you send on fader to that main bus then you know it is getting that plugging from the laptop???? Or is it because you are using only 1 microphone for this demo so that is why you are sending only this 1 microphone to that 1 aux channel which is activated on both laptop and also the x32??? Umm which one are you currently doing . Please explain. 🤔😊
    Remember you are saying auxiliary but our microphone is not plugged into any auxiliary but rather in XLR channels for example XLR channel 1 is Greg mic .. channel 2 is Brigette channel 6 channel 7 and 8 is pick for 3 item belonging to Carlos.. his Laval mic . Carlos talkbox machine and Carlos handheld. 🤪

  • @jared_musicSTC

    Wouldn't you still get a decent amount of latency using a tuning plugin through a core Audio USB driver? even at 48Khz sample rate and 32ms buffer size that gonna be like 8-10 ms of latency round trip and then the plugin itself would add more latency. At least that's what happens if I run Waves Tune RT in Ableton. Or am I missing something here?

  • @arbenzg6037

    Regards, for some reason I was working with native superrack with a Buffer size of 128, with more than 20 plugins calmly, now superrack performer at 256 I work... I thought the objective was a matter of customizing for laptop but it really doesn't have the same capacity as the previous one, 🥴🙃.
