Can you please tell me how you learn the songs by ear, do you listen to them and then search the notes on the violin? I play the violin for 6 months now and i have played piano for 10 years and before that i played the guitar for 4 years but i have never played anything without sheet music. Myhoko ! I have been playing for 20 years now. But I honestly haven't made any improvement for the last 10 years hh (more regression because of other schedule). To play by ear, I think I was trained when I was younger with the piano at first. The teacher would play a note, and we had to write it down (I could sing it in my head, from a reference note like an A I had in my head). Now with experience I can rather hear the note directly. Sometimes I still have difficulties hearing flats and sharp, I know it s a F, but I m not sure if it is F# or not just like this hh. I see, you must be a good musician playing piano for 10 years! After it s really about doing it a lot I think! The more you do, the easier it becomes I think
