I am not good enough yet to rate my experience in lethal any less than a 9. I think what I fear the most is the feral, mostly becuse of the speed vs my skill in the game
8 and what I fear the most is when a random character gets the plague out of nowhere and dies, even do I wasn't there and from magic one of my characters is died. And lets be honest the number of plague hearts is to much, that is sooooo boringggggg.
My issue with lethal isn't lethal. It's the AI. 9/10 I'm using my cures and stuff on folks who stood in bloater clouds or tried to 1v1 a jug. It's incredibly frustrating. I as the player am fine, but anyone else gets deleted and it's really hurt my enjoyment of the game.
Yeah that can get very annoying I remember a long time ago I recruited someone, and on the way home we came across a jug (This was on Dread btw) For some reason they decided to try on that big boi on their own I tried everything I could, but they died Didn't even get to home base before they died, and that is the only death I've ever had. The one gravestone due to AI stupidity
@@KhaosInductionCreator I've figured out that in this game, if you don't see it, it's not happening. So if this happens, just run away as quick as you can to somewhere else. If it's a follower of yours, just go far far away, find a sheltered spot and DO NOT CROUCH while waiting for your survivor to catch up.
@@reclaimer1173 I remember rushing home from a plague heart in lethal after I had destroyed it, my survivor had 3 minutes left, I was going so fast that the 3 boaters in the road didn't render in unti I hit all 3 at the same time 😤😂
i agree %100. Beefy numbers are no value when u know how not take damage. So its not making game harder its just making a math where we dont need. Actually good thing is came after the lethal zone. That Plague territory mechanic. Its actually a good mechanic and makes the game a bit more harder. This kind of stuff we need, not beefy numbers.
I thought the resources you need to make cures, toolkits, ammo and whatever else would go up as well. Like instead of getting 50 parts for a salvaged weapon you’d get 20. Also only getting 50 influence for defending your base and always getting some freaks while defending. It only increases the number of zombies? Damn that’s disappointing
Just started my first lethal play through, trying to do it mostly a fresh start, only used one rt operator as a legacy survivor, and only gave them a few resources to make the early gme easier and a repeating crossbow, honestly it’s about the same as nightmare. The blood ferals are my only real problem rn
I'm just ready for State of Decay 3 honestly. I'm glad the devs supported this game for a long time, that's one thing I can say about Xbox developers. But I feel I've gotten my money's worth as a Day 1 Ultimate Edition pre-order
I agree. I don't feel like they can add anything new that would make me want to go back. I mean a new map would be cool but you are still playing the same story, same missions and same game mechanics that you probably have played through 10+ times by now.
We don't care. It will be released when It is released. Until then they are continuing to add to sod2. If you have a problem with that, go somewhere else to complain, because nobody HERE wants to hear you babies.
@@KhaosInductionCreator read that comment and it's first reply again. And then come back and tell me that those paragraphs were NOT annoying babies complaining here for no reason.
Personally found lethal zone more difficult because of the blood ferals alone! Honestly without the pyro launcher I would have been in a lot of trouble with those mofos. I also found the first 10 hours or so challenging just because of the lack of loot. It was rough until I became self sufficient later on. I would play it again on another legacy but I really don't have it in me to do 40 plague hearts again. Such a turn off. 20 is plenty enough. In my opinion the difficulty was 8/10
What I love about this way Fox explains it is amazing. You can tell someone how to do something, and show them. However they may not quite get your intentions. And this mentality approach Fox is going with is a more useful way. By saying how to approach it, not with skill but the right mind frame. To understand where you stand in relation to the game. And that explanation of the Primary Care perfectly summed it up for me. Love it Fox, I honestly couldn't have said it better myself.
I agree. I’m always checking the vids Fox does for this simply to confirm I’m making correct decisions. These have been so incredibly helpful. Can not wait for all of these for 3. Fox you’re spectacular at these. ✌🏼
When I 1st heard you say power spikes. I thought you were talking about when there were certain parts where the game gives you 2 extra followers as followers to go do a side mission, while you have their assistance you use them to go and kill a couple of blood plaguehearts something like that, but all the advice you gave was solid. I am guilty of the blood feral fear, those thing f me up and you're totally right, gotta face the fear. The clink of the armored heads when you shoot them 8s a little demoralizing. Great contebt though, Fox. Keep em coming!
I agree with you, even after not playing for a long time, simply having the knowledge from nightmare zone made lethalzone not so troublesome since its the same but with higher numbers =P I heard the advise just in case, and yeah pretty much all of that is true, especially the powerspikes one. Once you learn to identify them the game gets so much easier. Also not all of them are the same for everybody, for example in my case one huge powerspike is getting my hands on the "filling machine" since I can then create a massive amount of fuel bombs which are great for all zombies except the juggernaut, it even lets you win some good distance from a pack of ferals so that you can try to headshot them even without gunslinger.
Bruh literally. I hadn't played this game in a year and just got on yesterday. Beat lethal with fresh start with no deaths in like 6 hours. Like fox says, the only thing I had to get used to was blood ferals. They caused a lot of problems at first bc my crossbow setup doesn't work with them, but now I've adapted to them the game is easy like night nightmare was
@@apomtaylor8054 yeah, once you get used to it you can just breeze trough like it was nightmare zone. I believe 6 hours is a bit short, probably carried in a bunch of resources from a previous community, but yeah, even without those you would probably finish it pretty fast once you get used to the blood ferals not getting instakilled with a single headshot.
@@Mkronox yeah, I did bring two legacy characters loaded with only rtx hordebreakers and full resourcefulness and backpacking worth of 7.62. So it's not like that's an OP set up or anything. Also, Human enclaves did actually kill one of my characters, I forgot to mention that. But I just used the classic, stand on top of car and shoot through windows
@@Mkronox also those two characters had immunity traits lol so yea pretty op now that I think about it. Without legacy it would have been very difficult or just took a lot more time
@@apomtaylor8054 yeah, the first Lethal run I did was after not playing for like 8 months and with new random characters (not rerolling for specific traits or 5th jobs) and after a bit it became the usual nightmare zone shewnanigans
I have really struggled with Lethal Zone, not gonna lie. I took a year off from the game, only making my first lethal playthrough when plague territories dropped. It's been a blast relearning the game.
same, I came back after trumbull county and between lethal and the new plague zone territories its completely renewed the fun of the game for me (I think I stopped playing while there still wasnt even heavy weapons). There is also a REALLY satisfying feeling when you have cleared most or even all of the plague hearts and seeing how (comparatively) peaceful and safe the world becomes while wrapping things up
I grinded lethal zone so hard, I finished like 8 legacies and planning on getting the true grit achievement in lethal zone, but the grinding part really burned me out.
I did the 100 days on the bare minimum difficulty (Dread) it was not fun. I rotated maps several times just to keep it interesting. Now the only grinding achievement i need is 343 waves of Daybreak (I'm only about 33% in) and I've just been absolutely refusing to bore myself with it, i don't even like Daybreak, but having all the rewards is neat tho.
@@jrey1 I just did that 100 day bit. Kept the game running just to have the days go by quicker and I still cleared Meager, Trumble and Providence before doing the legacy. 0.o
I honestly jumped straight into the lethal zone from the beginning and I love it XD makes it a lot more scary and the more you play the way better you get at surviving it.
For me it's incredebly hard. U can't make a mistake when ferals coming at you. I lost 3 companions in 10-15 days in the game. 2 of them was a really huge mistake of me but still, the huge number of Z and now the juggernaut and other freaks in the infestation made this level of difficulty really hard. So 10/10.
@@GitGudFox yeah i read a lot of your comments but like you Said, i dont wanna use something that could brake the game. I have a modded gun which i never use for example. I never use scent block too. To be honest i maybe will use one or two for my current game. First Time in lethal
@@attentionalimpact You should use the tools that the game provides. The Impaler isn't like a modded gun where you had to go outside the normal rules of the game to use it. The Impaler will help you get your foot in the door. Then you can practice using the Impaler less over time.
I’m on my first lethal play through with fresh characters and so far I have a community of 6 and lost 10 people including 5 red talon guys. I’m enjoying the difficulty because it keeps it interesting but I’ve picked up a few tips like parking my car a good distance away from a plague heart. I’ve managed to destroy about half of the plague hearts and will continue to get my trader boon as I see that being a big help for the next lethal play throughs as noon traders have high influence and also are great followers as they usually have good weapons
I just started still on starter house base, have 4 survivors lost none yet, but multiple have threatened to leave, and one made me kill 2 plague hearts just so they'd stay. I have like no influence either, it's not looking good haha. Did just craft/acquire my first 2 suppressors though so now I can finally use guns for first time hopefully that helps
My problem is not that,my problem is plague zombies, they are everywhere and they are my biggest enemy because they are so annoying and they can make noise to bring more zombies , not even a blood plague juggernaut or blood ferals are a trouble for me. Sad fact: normal blood plague zombies killed my best character, ONE RED TALON OPERATOR, meanwhile juggernauts or feral didn't killed any of my characters, even on lethal I just hate the amount of spam that the game is throwing at you on lethal, would be more fair if there are less zombies but they are more dangerous
Night mare seemed no more difficult than dread. The jump from nightmare to lethal was much more noticeable in different tactics needed. i.e. don't fight normal zombies! In all lower diffs you just lay waste EVERYTHING in your path. On Lethal Only hearts and occasionally clear out around the base when freaks build up. The other is close zeds can hear the crossbow snap! That I wish I knew before leaping in to the deep end.
Yeah I played my first playthrough on dread and am on my second ish playthrough on nightmare. There isn't really much of a difference except the zombies do more damage and want not.
the biggest problems with lethal zone is when shit just spawn right infront of you like bloaters when you drive and it has ferals with it. That can be a insta kill right there if you dont have enough plauge cure on you.
Once I learn how to utilize the heavy weapons and that stuff that makes you invisible to the zombies. I could damn near beat lethal Zone without even doing the missions. Especially with a maxed out Daybreak Soldier. Once I figured out that combination it really made everything simple. I only use the fuel bombs to clear the houses of the spawned zombies. The only variant zed that gives me any trouble really is the juggernaut. But once your in a building he's not even a threat.
Thanks Fox, your insights are always on point but I would’ve liked to hear how difficult lethal zone is with the new plague zones which I think make the game harder.
It wouldn't change my thoughts. The plague territory only changes how quickly you can claim a base and where you can claim outpost which means it doesn't how I play as I am more than happy to play within the starting home and without outposts for many days.
Personal rating 9-10. Reasons being I started playing on standard zone. Wanted some tips came to Git Gud Fox's channel. And everything started to become too easy. So I finished standard zone and moved to Lethal zone. Somewhat of a mistake, did not know of all the buffed plague specials. Lost 1 person in the beginning and after I got on my feet again and followed the tips well..... I would not say it was easy but a Juggernaut became less scary and a feral was just above a plague zombie. So I personally thank you a lot Fox for all the info and tips keep it up, you are great!
Yeah, it doesn't take too long to outgrow Standard Zone. I would have probably not jumped directly into Lethal Zone though. Giving Dread Zone a shot would have been a good bet.
I beat my first legacy as a builder because my biggest fears are hostile humans and the zombies. Definitely rage quit on some unexpected blood ferals and I had close calls with survivors threatening to leave due to morale issues. My other complaint had to do with a small amount of influence and that the NPC’s kinda frustratingly suck in combat whenever I either lure some zeds back to their base, example being a Blood Feral and they barely can shoot it or shoot the zeds bringing in more. Bloody plague definitely made things harder as well but I felt so accomplished after beating the builder community, I’m still unaware if I wanna have a warlord or a sherif as my next leader, they both involve hostile humans but they also have rewards totally worth earning at the end. Once I beat all 4 communities on lethal I’ll probably head back to nightmare so whenever I destroy plague hearts, they kill every zed around me Update: I’ve finally Beat Lethal zone with all 4 leader types and I have all the Boons, it was one hell of an experience but it was so worth it in the end
A 9 currently, human enemies terrify me more than anything else though. Perma-death, I become incredibly invested in every character I get that I like and as a result have always played in a way that results in little to no damage taken and no character death achievements.
I'm like the other way around. I often don't even remember my character's names or even take them seriously. I will exile anyone from the community even Red Talon members and throw the prestige points away if I wake up one day and suddenly think they look weird.
I agree with everything here. The most difficult thing about lethal is the massive lag after update 25. I’m still on Xbox one-s and the game is near unplayable lately.
Depending on your perspective I would say nightmare zone could be considered more difficult. I found dread to nightmare incredibly difficult. Like a jump in difficulty of like 3 to 7 on your scale. However, the jump from nightmare to lethal really isnt much of a jump highlighted by your difficulty rating
Nightmare is really the first major difficulty spike. The difference from Standard to Dread is not nearly as significant, but then the jump from Nightmare Zone to Lethal Zone.
I hope you're enjoying this playthrough of SoD I know you mentioned that this got painful for you. I've been enjoying this game since launch but it got a little stale for me. Your MW5 series was interesting and gave me a few ideas on builds for mechs I wouldn't normally try.
I don't think it really matters when I've done handicapped Lethal Zone playthroughs without deaths. - Fresh characters - NO DLC - No overpowered strategies That was also my FIRST Lethal Zone experience, so I made my least experienced Lethal Zone playthrough a heavily handicapped playthrough... succeeded without any deaths.
It's really not. You haven't learned the elements of the game yet which Nightmare Zone would have taught you. You can beat Lethal Zone in an hour or so with scentblocks and bloater gas. You can kill 3-4 plague hearts with bloater gas an scentblock, and scentblock lasts 5 minutes per dose. There's 28 plague hearts on Lethal, so can clear them in an hour or so including the reconnaissance. Bloater gas 3-shots plague hearts. Scentblock makes you nearly invisible to zombies. This game isn't hard. Use the actually good items.
I agree with you in that Lethal really isn't any more difficult than Nightmare was, once you factor in skills gained from playing through the legacies.
Prepare to be shocked because I find lethal massively more difficult than Nightmare. But that's coming from someone who hasn't trained in nightmare mode and went straight to lethal, lost 3 times on day 1, and backpedaled to nightmare. I find it considerably easier due to the lack of blood ferals alone. Also note that I play with no radio commands so guns are almost impossible to acquire for me on day 1. I literally got sieged and killed on day 1 in one of my lethal plays.
How hard do I rate Lethal Zone? There are a few ways to look at that. Technically you beat Lethal Zone by clearing all PH and completing your leaders legacy. I don't find that too difficult to accomplish within 20-30 days and rate that experience 7/10 on difficulty. If you are playing a 50+ day community Lethal zone quickly ramps up to an absolute 10/10 to the point where you don't even know if your base is just being attacked by wandering hordes or being full on sieged until you check your menu. You move maps and the first plague heart you try to clear is calling in more zombies than you thought the game could handle spawning in. I love it, but I have to exit the game when the community AI gets overwhelmed and simply can't handle the threat because they aren't using their guns, or they are walking outside the base vs going to the watch tower.
When i switch to lethal zone from nightmare zone, Only thing i felt different was plague feral, so once you overcome this, there is no REAL difference between lethal and nightmare. So i totally agree with both difficulty being a 7 out of 10. On a second thought, Maybe a 6 out of 10..because this game is not a hard game at all, that's because it's not a skill based game like COD games or competitive shooter, it's more like an information based game... The game is easy as long as you truly learn the game mechanic in nightmare zone (or lethal). I have +300 hours in this game and only lost 1 character in dread zone(now I play on nightmare and lethal) i have pyro luncher but never used it, and my favorite weapons are mostly 5.56 based weapon like M4A1 and AR15. It's penetration power is amazing in higher difficulties and you can blow 3 zombie heads with one shot ( idk if u can get more).
I would say It depends on RNG. I bought my Xbox S today and my First try on the New map was 3 ferals close to the First base and I died lol. I would say Its definely hard and requires skill to stay Alive. Specially at the beginning when you dont have resources to deal with the plague infection and the special zombies
@@GitGudFox I guess I’m new to the channel, I was watching your Nightmare play-through so I subscribed, and all I’ve seen in MW5 uploads for a while. So I never expected there to be another sod2 video until the next generation game came out I guess
I take breaks from SoD2 to protect myself from burnout as the game changes VERY slowly. It's not like Warframe or World of Warcraft where they're adding stuff on a regular basis, but SoD2 is still the core of the channel's content.
The game isn't made to be played for years. The updates are sparse and typically have little impact on the game overall. It's the kind of game that you play once, then wait until a new update comes out, then play it again and stop. Games that are designed to be played for years are like Warframe where there are regular updates with new things to do and obtain and a long list of objectives to accomplish that take years to complete.
Hmm i should play state of decay 2 again. Nightmare zone was easy but im probably rusty. Ill jump straight into lethal zone with a randomly generated community.
Jumping back into this game and messin with the sliders I've been playin dread zombies and lethal everything else. The loot feels more rewarding on lethal and there's alot more thought process into the community which feels better. I might bump up the zombie difficulty eventually but it all feels balanced right now.
It's kind of a double edged sword. On one hand, it makes resources feel relevant, but on the other hand, it punishes you on finding actually good weapons and loot.
@@GitGudFox right. I'm really enjoying playing on the providence ridge map. The visual upgrades they did looks really good. I'm honestly surprised this game is still gettin updates I'm not sure if the others maps got the same treatment or not.
@@GitGudFox I hope the other maps get the same treatment and I'm going to subscribe to your channel just for going out of your way to reply back to my comment.
I try to respond to most people, but the total quantity of comments across my over 1000 videos can sometimes overwhelm me to the point that I spend literally hours trying to think of like meaningful responses to everyone and not like canned boiler plate responses. It's kind of random. I DO tend to answer questions though.
I couldn't agree more. I don't think lethal is that different from nightmare for the reasons you mentioned. That was my problem from the start. They created soooo many difficulty modes that pretty much just changed numbers and they weren't all that different. I feel like instead of making so many difficulty modes, they could've been spending their time on giving us new story dlc. I mean besides heartland, the dlc for sod2 was honestly pretty lackluster. I appreciate that they have supported the game for so long but I really don't want to play the unchanged base story for the 20th time.
I think they added those difficulties because it was relatively easy to implement. Creating a entire new story/map would take a lot more time for writing, coding and bug fixing.
I feel like it is important, as of the date of this post, to point out that there are a lot of bad glitches happening in SOD2 right now. The hot fix that came out merely fixed the one set of crash issues, it didnt fix all the rest. So if you are starting a lethal zone save, make note that things might go sideways for no good reason.
I've only recently started playing nightmare and find it really easy so its surprising to hear someone say lethal is pretty much the same considering its support to be much harder
8? uh, I worked my way up through the 4 other modes, proceeded to get my whole legacy group killed. Amy on maybe my 10th Lethal play through (with only 1 Red Talon call in) and am finally doing well. Last one was doing gud, then series of sieges (like 4 consecutive) and few deaths led to death spiral. Had used up 50K in prestige, but still [sad trombone]. now use radio and flame gun more. Still get rocked by blood ferals though. usually gotta reset to prevent death.
Would stuff such as full health and full stamina meters (as in uncapped by significant amounts of trauma, fatigue, and/or burning lungs) qualify under the "crutch vs. tool" scenario? What about the ability to not quickly run out of stamina as I try to either run from the Feral and/or beat the Feral at its own game? Or when it's reasonably alone vs. there being a few plague zombies close enough? Because those are the main issues that I've encountered when trying to figure out how to handle Ferals. Since very recently losing one of my four survivors (and ending up with two frustrated survivors, both of which thankfully recovered after finding and dropping off a rucksack of medical supplies), I've resorted to quitting to the menu when being chased at one if I'm significantly crippled. EDIT: Also, regarding infestations that crop up, is it preferable to hold off on tackling those until finding a crossbow or at the very least a way to take care of hordes at once if the silent approach isn't an option?
The human health is dumb, used 4 grenades from a grenade launcher, shot them in the head with a AK, crossbow, and whacked them and two molotovs and they got blood plague and mauled by a horde and ferel and they didn't die, didn't know human health was jacked up that high
Programmable AI. If you have a follower, you should be able to put parameters around combat. If they get blood plague, have them run away. Or automatically use cures in their storage
Its a bit more difficult now that they changed the spawn rate around the plague heart and also some people have the melee glitch which causes a delay in swinging the weapon and get chomped a lot more. The reason for the melee glitch from what I heard is that undead labs is in the process of revamping melee combat and its effecting some peoples game.
How is it that when others assault a lethal plague heart only a handful of zombies show up but yesterday when I did the same, the entire population of Providence ridge decided to come say hello. Plus the scentblock didn't seem to work at all because the feral still charged at me.
Variance, some plague hearts go down with hardly a fight... no ferals even. Other plague hearts secretly have multiple plague hearts on top of them. call ferals every opportunity they get and bring in huge amounts of zombies. It's just random variance.
@@GitGudFox Guess I am just unlucky then. Btw did you also face this problem with the scentblock, where the zombies still attacked even though the scentblock was active?
I didn't use scentblock in my Lethal Zone gameplay until the very last episode of season 4, and when I used it, hardly any zombies showed up, so it wasn't enough to give me an opinion on it.
7 is always a raiting crutch, it's the common answer. If you say 0-10 can't use 7 easily give NM a 6 and Lethal an 8 and it gives a fair honest assessment. If someone has never played SoD games and you had to give them a scale of how hard they would be, they wouldn't have the experience of NM or past title to reflect on the difficulty. I started playing a week or so ago, standard just lacked any thrills but the game play was addictive, I switched to NM after my first playthrough and felt that should be close to about what someone would expect a zombie survivial game to be, but i get that the gateway for entry would be too high and people would be discouraged. They can make a crazy difficulty were nearly every structure has a plague heart, blood plague can't be cured, and there are no ammo drops, only crafted (requiring you to find the necessary mods before hand)... then I think that mode would be the hell in which people are looking for.
Well 6 is too low for Nightmare Zone and 8 is too high for Lethal Zone. I'm not going to disagree and say that a median answer can't be used as a crutch, but that doesn't mean that 7 is a bad answer either. Basically, what if 7 out of 10 is the ideal answer? Shall we let other people's overrusage of median answers cause us to give a less honest answer? I genuinely think 8 is too high and 6 is too low.
One Way would be what you Said earlier change the ways the Zombies attacks in hordes or the way they Siege our bases that would make Nightmare and Lethal a hell of a lot more fun creative zombies would be much more funner like Ferals they attack straight Forward if they can zig zag Jump Further or just be more creative attacking the humans thats would be awesome
Honestly I think it’s all the resources you need just less places to look which makes it easier. I’ve never had trouble getting the things I need for community except scraps of circuit.
one question I have is should I start a world with my red talon characters? or should I start a world with completely new survivors, I have always used my favorite characters in new worlds but I dunno cuz my res talon characters have aim snap but I have increased my standing with 8 other characters who haven't had aim snap with no problem, I just like my red talon characters cuz I have gotten used to them
Hang onto that idea for a now. Remember, Undead Labs is changing how the legacy bank works. You'll be able to recruit legacy characters into your active game world. You'll also be able to send characters to the character bank.
Well, you can ignore them for the most part. I do playthroughs where I just ignore them the entire game. The only hostiles I'll fight are the ones I have no choice to in the final story missions.
My problem with Lethal was the human enemies starting out. I think I fought some guys from the Warlord's mission and they just fucking one-shot two of my characters and about had a total community wipeout right there. Once you learn to just not engage with human enemies unless you can cheat with bloater grenades it really does become easier.
What's cool about Lethal Zone is that the zombies are deadly to enemy AI as well. You can basically use a Scentblock to cloak yourself from zombies and just like honk your horn and bring zombies to them.
It'd say it's the defense. The speed of a feral is not faster than gunslinging's auto aim snap. It's the fact that they can survive multiple hits even headshots.
honestly for me its the hearts, its just not fun destroying that many of them, tooled up on the trainer and pumping 5-6 mags worth of ammo into just 1 multiple molotovs, unlimited ammo, and i just wouldn't enjoy slowly gathering the supplies to deal with them, the infinate reinforcements, the ferals, occasional screamer that turned up probably cause it was simply nearby , maybe the whole time in 2 plays i've killed 3 juggernaughts, one just cause it was near my car. where they at? i've despised ferals since the first game due to that games no minimum spawn distance and them insta killing on spawn 3 of main peeps. so dealing with their shit in lethal wasn't fun for me, bombs were doing shit all, couldn't just creep in, det a few, like whatever they want me to do to deal with ferals i dont know what it is, no ammo, no real gun, in 4 games, 2 of which failed immediately, they largely tore through my team without issue, nothing to fight them with, twatting them for 5 minutes with melee with the squad, one of those plays by the way was a start game feral killed me as i was going to the start house my party running into a fence, or fighting a normal. outside of getting building materials to get upgrades, supplies wasn't an issue for me. the upgradeable buildings made that a none issue. med station uses 2 meds? the iconic in drucker, gives 2 meds and some health jazz. need ammo? any normal supply post upgraded. so food? well if you can get the garden going , 2 posts, sorted on food , dont know how to get the talon uplink anymore, for the +2 posts, or the talon guy for an extra ontop of those massive amount of spare shit. and even after all that? you only need those supplies because theres no weapons dropping to deal with the ferals spawning to defend hearts, like yay i lobbed a molly at the heart, time to just go far away and do it again later. just not fucking fun dealing with those twats.
The hardest run I've done is lethal, melee only, 1 max pop. Used a mostly new vigil guard red talon member so no need to sleep. Super slow play through had to get an alied enclave with labour bonus
anyway, on my pc the game has now so many new bugs it is really annoying to play, very hard to enjoy at the moment. i found so far 5 major bugs, but must stupidly annoying is zombie standing inside the car, unhittable, and you have to get in the vehicle to move it to get access to zombie....well, lets wait for another patch;)
I finished my nightmare play through recently, I had dlcs but couldn't use them becaus they costed influence, plus the independence pack and apocalypse pack Male weapons arent even that good, I don't like the cars for them, and like I said before I didn't have enough influence to grab the assault rifles for my dlcs, but when I did have enough I still didn't get them because I was already good and I knew it would just be a huge waste, but one thing I did get was the haven device on my nightmare playthrough, but I was already good before it tbh, it wasn't a big deal, I started a fresh new community on lethal to see how I will do with them so that then I can bring in my favorite survivors into lethal, but now I think I should just roll with these new survivors to see the ultimate challenge because my last favorite survivors already have their skills upgraded and two of them are red talon. I'm still not sure what to do, maybe I will start a community with my favorite survivors I wont be a scared to get them killed, cus I did everything pretty neatly in nightmare tbh
Lol I disagree with the feral point... the minute you have it matched, it calls on other zombies to help it... best to shoot it or try running it over...
Harder difficulties are easy if you: Use crossbows/suppressors, stealth and don't quick search. If you want an actual challenge, don't implement any of that and the difficulty will spike 10x.
This video is proof that some people are just built different, I struggle with nightmare zone but I can do it meanwhile I've never lasted more than 45mins in lethal zone
How many overpowered strategies are you using? You can defeat everything in the game with an overpowered strategy. They're all legit too. No mods or hacks etc.
@@GitGudFox I'm not really sure what counts as OP but if I have to guess the only 'cheese' type thing I use is bloater gas on hearts if I have access to and can afford them.
Cheese I would consider exploitative things that take advantage of the game's programming limitation. My overpowered strategies don't do that. Here are some strategies to try. Impaler Vehicle: kills all ferals in 1 hit if they touch the rear of the vehicle which is covered in spikes. Upgrade a Legendere car in the autoshop or use the radio command to summon an "Ultimate Edition" vehicle to get one. Just lure the ferals over and let them touch the back of the car for an instant kill.
Fox, my game opened with a feral horde before we left the vehicle! Then three screamers and two hordes... I fixed the car and copped an insta-spawn bloater... bailed out and got overwhelmed and killed. Repeat that...sneak to get car fixed & trio of ferals & horde after car randomly is destroyed and bail out. I got down to 1 survivor. Then got plague, before any cure avail... lone survivor overwhelmed w no decent weapon. All gone in day one. I rebooted game & wiped cache. It was insane from the start. Now just in Nightmare Zone...
I suppose its true I lost way more survivors on nightmare, took me several painful deaths to learn my pro strategy of 'quit to main menu before you die' style of play 😂
@@GitGudFox all true, though despite being on my second lethal zone run (came back after a long abscence for trumbull) Ive never acquired the pyrolauncher, not a clue how to get it, ill have to look it up, but on this run Ive been focusing more on good mechanics and struggling through running from the blood ferals, currently I take a flashbang and a cardio pill bottle to bail or at the least a soda and a cheap explosive and I typically park in a way to hopefully escape without needing anything (I would fight them more but too damn many other zombies) but yah, I really didnt like the cheezyness of my first run, currently my 2 biggest issues are triple blood feral packs and mid game blood hearts, early ones are pretty easy since they dont send much at you and endgame is really just a contest on how fast you can clear the map once you get access to scent block, explosive gas grenades, LOTS of 7.62 ammo and or c4, but im typically stuck in limbo until I hit endgame after the first few days, im not really sure how it scales but typically I can clear 3-4 hearts as long as I am standing on a vehicle with lots of molotovs early on, this dont work too good when I start getting alternative freaks joining the feral or the heart is hidden away from windows lol Been watching your videos for the last few hours btw, its great stuff and im picking up alot of things I want to try or do different, also they are just entertaining so thats good too 😉. havent gotten to any of your tips or pointer kinda videos yet though so maybe youve already covered those exact problems
Basically, there's an answer to every threat in SoD2 such that you should basically never die. Lots of zombies - pyrolauncher Ferals - gunslinging, pyrolauncher, car (let them jump and and squish them), sniper tower + climbing up on something Blood Ferals - pyrolauncher, sniper tower, gunslinging with an autoshotgun, sniper tower + climbing up something Juggernauts - Bouncing Boris, high capacity gun with a brake, sniper tower Blood Juggernaut - Bouncing Boris, high capacity gun with a brake, sniper tower You can outrun every enemy in the game except ferals, and you can burn them and run while they put themselves out. Level 3 Infirmary + Surgery + Pathology = +50HP, +50% Plague Resistance, and +50% Injury Resistance There's an answer to every enemy, every situation. All those whacky videos of people dying are often because they just make bizarre decisions. You need systematic, methodological, calculated responses to all situations. It should be like nothing phases you. Every situation is a normal situation.
@@GitGudFox wow great in depth response, thank you, I also just ran into a question that I had 2 years ago on one of your videos that you answered then as well, you good sir absolutely have a new sub
Blood ferals makes lethal zones difficult. You also lack a bunch of stamina items cos it ends quite quick. Everything costs more too. Idk what you’re talking about lethal zone on fresh start is at least a 9/10 difficulty
Nah, 9 out of 10 is a rating someone who has no idea how to play SoD2 would give it. 9 out of 10 suggests it's amongst the hardest games ever made. Blood Ferals are a joke. You just farm them for standing. They die in 1 hit to the Impaler vehicle that every player has access to because it is a radio command call-in. Stamina items are rarely needed. Everything can be killed either by driving in reverse into with the Impaler or burned away with the pyrolauncher, both are available as a radio call in to all players. You THINK Lethal Zone is hard because you don't know how to play.
Make sure your gardens are seeded and composted. Those effects last for like an hour, and it's possible that they wore off in between you checking last and the day ending.
Recently started Lethal zone on my own, brand new characters. No guns, crap weapons, and my starting base had 3 bloaters in/around it and a feral. Very bad start
Well, remember you can outrun juggernauts... even if you're out of stamina. They're not as fast as you. Same with regular zombies. You can outrun them even if you're out of stamina.
I would agree the experience is different but your abilities are the same how you play changes which is clever, what kills you is when you forget which mode your in and you play the wrong mode style groups of x3 ferals pluaged gets me on caution because if you don't have your wits about you your gone.
The only thing i fear? The dumb AI and getting overwhelmed with missions again. You can put 2-3 Juggs in front of me and i will try to deal with them or outsmart them to get away. But put a fucking numbnut AI enemy in front of me and you have me breathing like a fish. Instant Headshots from a .22 cal while you fire a .50 cal in their ugly mug and they just stand up 2 seconds later again. No thanks.
2 Questions!
How Hard do YOU Rate Lethal Zone on a scale of 0 - 10
AND
What mechanic... enemy etc do you fear the most from State of Decay 2?
7 i guess
I fear the plague ferals the most, before the plague swipe got fixed in update 25
Solid 8-10
Ferals or juggs I guess
I am not good enough yet to rate my experience in lethal any less than a 9. I think what I fear the most is the feral, mostly becuse of the speed vs my skill in the game
9, feral (nothing else)
8 and what I fear the most is when a random character gets the plague out of nowhere and dies, even do I wasn't there and from magic one of my characters is died.
And lets be honest the number of plague hearts is to much, that is sooooo boringggggg.
My issue with lethal isn't lethal. It's the AI. 9/10 I'm using my cures and stuff on folks who stood in bloater clouds or tried to 1v1 a jug. It's incredibly frustrating.
I as the player am fine, but anyone else gets deleted and it's really hurt my enjoyment of the game.
Yeah that can get very annoying
I remember a long time ago I recruited someone, and on the way home we came across a jug (This was on Dread btw)
For some reason they decided to try on that big boi on their own
I tried everything I could, but they died
Didn't even get to home base before they died, and that is the only death I've ever had. The one gravestone due to AI stupidity
@@KhaosInductionCreator I've figured out that in this game, if you don't see it, it's not happening. So if this happens, just run away as quick as you can to somewhere else. Bloater spawning in the road or just bloater gas attaching to a vehicle out of the blue.

i agree %100.
I just think plauge territory is annoying
@@heyactiongaming5788 all the more reason to kill the Plague Hearts to get the stuff you need.
@@LoD619 i see it as a good thing
Eh....
We don't care. It will be released when It is released. Until then they are continuing to add to sod2. If you have a problem with that, go somewhere else to complain, because nobody HERE wants to hear you babies.

Well, I try at least.
I’m getting ready to take my 10 maxed out survivors into lethal zone by changing maps and the difficulty. Hopefully at least 3/10 survive to the end.
Ah, the Zapp Brannigan approach? =P
@@GitGudFox i think that will give me more confidence for when I start a noob group in lethal. Can’t wait to see you play in SoD3 when it is out
Sneaking around will really helps
I’m wondering how you do this? I know you commented a while ago
I agree with you, even after not playing for a long time, simply having the knowledge from nightmare zone made lethalzone not so troublesome since its the same but with higher numbers =P
I heard the advise just in case, and yeah pretty much all of that is true, especially the powerspikes one.
This is a great video - the last half is evergreen and all inclusive for any level of player.
Well done!
Yeah, the plague hearts are just not a fun mechanic as a barrier to completing a legacy.

So 10/10.
Get an Impaler. It's available in your radio call-in section for 1000 influence. Kills ferals in 1 hit.
Incredibly valid points about NM vs Lethal. Well explained mate.
My only trouble I had was the shear amount of ferals and feral hordes
Me too. I can't handle them, and they are always the reason I get killed
True, specially If they spawn on the beginning
My problem is not that,my problem is plague zombies, they are everywhere and they are my biggest enemy because they are so annoying and they can make noise to bring more zombies , not even a blood plague juggernaut or blood ferals are a trouble for me.
Sad fact: normal blood plague zombies killed my best character, ONE RED TALON OPERATOR, meanwhile juggernauts or feral didn't killed any of my characters, even on lethal
I just hate the amount of spam that the game is throwing at you on lethal, would be more fair if there are less zombies but they are more dangerous
Heavy weapons really found a place in Lethal Zone.
Put like 5 c4 on the ground and run big boy right over them.
so good to see your videos on SoD again!!!!
If you are in urban area don't worry about ferals and remember doors are your best friends.
The bugs in the game are more dangerous than Lethal zone, but together they are truly terrifying at times.
I don't think the bugs will ever be fixed tbh. Every update breaks the game again.
@@GitGudFox yeah we just have to live with them, at least they make for hilarious video content :D
Once I beat all 4 communities on lethal I’ll probably head back to nightmare so whenever I destroy plague hearts, they kill every zed around me
Update: I’ve finally Beat Lethal zone with all 4 leader types and I have all the Boons, it was one hell of an experience but it was so worth it in the end
1:59 Me in the beginning
I really like that face your fear tips man !
Couldn't have said it better. Very helpful
Also wanna add that pp when they get many stuff late game forget the important things like making smart choices to run for your life
A 9 currently, human enemies terrify me more than anything else though.
Outstanding work on this one. I quite agree with your comments and getting people to think about them is really good.
I agree with everything here. The most difficult thing about lethal is the massive lag after update 25. I’m still on Xbox one-s and the game is near unplayable lately.
The plague heart clustering doesn't even make anything harder, just laggier.
@@GitGudFox agreed. However the lag robs me of my desire to play. Im finished unless a new map comes.
I am on a high spec system and I get input lag where I am mashing the escape button and the character is zed lunch. Yes I do swear at that point
Using a Red Talon Operative in the whole of this video while talking about how hard Lethal Zone is. :D
I don't think it really matters when I've done handicapped Lethal Zone playthroughs without deaths.
- Fresh characters
- NO DLC
- No overpowered strategies
That was also my FIRST Lethal Zone experience, so I made my least experienced Lethal Zone playthrough a heavily handicapped playthrough... succeeded without any deaths.
@@GitGudFox Fair but not everyone has seen that stuff so... just sayin'. :)
lethal is vastly more difficult than nightmare. really lethal is just less fun. more tedious.
Power spike is an interesting concept fur sure. Great vid
i tried lethal but it was more like nightmare with more enemy and my system cannot handle simply
I think that's pretty fair.
Nice youre back with new SOD-Content....
Yeah, I'm gonna make some more pretty soon.

@@GitGudFox Fare enough, that’s a completely liable thing to do I guess the game does get a little ‘boring’ sometimes
Awesome content as always Fox
Hmm i should play state of decay 2 again. Nightmare zone was easy but im probably rusty. Ill jump straight into lethal zone with a randomly generated community.
What is that ability that lets you execute enemies from the front?

Git Gud Fox. May I ask your opinion? Is the Human Enclave can be annoying when they ask for supplies? Especially its the same group.
They can at times, but once you get them to "Allied" their requests slow down a lot.
Yeah I had a bloater spawn under my car while I was driving
Well, it wouldn't be State of Decay if the game itself weren't in a constant state of decay.
Flying cars, beam down zeds. I have seen a few times zeds suddenly appearing in front of my eye in an empty area

I've only recently started playing nightmare and find it really easy so its surprising to hear someone say lethal is pretty much the same considering its support to be much harder
You are punished harder for mistakes, but learning Nightmare Zone will iron out most of the bad habits one might have that cause these mistakes.
8? uh, I worked my way up through the 4 other modes, proceeded to get my whole legacy group killed.
Use the Impaler. It kills ferals in 1 shot.
The biggest difficult for me is to End the Game. When i reach the status where i am more or less invincible, i start a new Game. ;- /
The human health is dumb, used 4 grenades from a grenade launcher, shot them in the head with a AK, crossbow, and whacked them and two molotovs and they got blood plague and mauled by a horde and ferel and they didn't die, didn't know human health was jacked up that high
Yeah, Undead Labs has never made a very consistent feeling experience for fighting humans especially at higher difficulties.
Programmable AI. If you have a follower, you should be able to put parameters around combat. If they get blood plague, have them run away. Or automatically use cures in their storage
Yeah, I wish I could order them to focus on ranged combat or melee combat etc.
hello, great tips but i have a question. how do you do the cartwheel? i kept searching but can find how
The cartwheel? You're talking about the combat roll when you're on fire? You either have to be on fire or have maxed out acrobatics.
Battling the glitches of SoD2 are probably its deadliest threat.
@@GitGudFox Spot on good and great Mr. Fox
With melee, I've always had better success by timing combos instead of spamming.
Me who jumped from standard to lethal
Good advice ma man thank you 🤠
7 is always a raiting crutch, it's the common answer.
Yeah, in some ways it does simplify things.
Scraps were easy for me....but I've probably found 6 jugs of ethanol since Lethal Zone has dropped.
If this guy was in state of decay he'd say something like "the blood plague won't hurt me God gave me an immune system"
I don't know why I'd ever say that. I never use God as a justification for anything.
one question I have is should I start a world with my red talon characters? or should I start a world with completely new survivors, I have always used my favorite characters in new worlds but I dunno
cuz my res talon characters have aim snap but I have increased my standing with 8 other characters who haven't had aim snap with no problem, I just like my red talon characters cuz I have gotten used to them
Hang onto that idea for a now. Remember, Undead Labs is changing how the legacy bank works. You'll be able to recruit legacy characters into your active game world. You'll also be able to send characters to the character bank.
@@GitGudFox thank you for that feedback, I think I might know my answer to my question
Wait is the sidearm only available for pc?
Nope, it's in console also
Out of curiosity, what melee weapon is that equipped on your character? It looks like a giant butter spreader 🤣
That is the hogsplitter. It's a common heavy weapon. It is useful for spreading plague hearts.
Lethal zone wouldn’t be so hard if AI was more helpful, ive lost 6 ppl to lethal zone all AI
Well, you can ignore them for the most part. I do playthroughs where I just ignore them the entire game. The only hostiles I'll fight are the ones I have no choice to in the final story missions.
Every time I see a plague feral my butt puckers.
If you use the pyrolauncher, they're not a problem.
@@GitGudFox yeah that's what I do "unless I can cheat" lol.
Pretty sure the damage and the speed is what makes ferals dangerous.
It'd say it's the defense. The speed of a feral is not faster than gunslinging's auto aim snap. It's the fact that they can survive multiple hits even headshots.
honestly for me its the hearts, its just not fun destroying that many of them, tooled up on the trainer and pumping 5-6 mags worth of ammo into just 1
multiple molotovs, unlimited ammo, and i just wouldn't enjoy slowly gathering the supplies to deal with them, the infinate reinforcements, the ferals, occasional screamer that turned up probably cause it was simply nearby , maybe the whole time in 2 plays i've killed 3 juggernaughts, one just cause it was near my car. where they at?
i've despised ferals since the first game due to that games no minimum spawn distance and them insta killing on spawn 3 of main peeps.
so dealing with their shit in lethal wasn't fun for me, bombs were doing shit all, couldn't just creep in, det a few, like whatever they want me to do to deal with ferals i dont know what it is, no ammo, no real gun, in 4 games, 2 of which failed immediately, they largely tore through my team without issue, nothing to fight them with, twatting them for 5 minutes with melee with the squad, one of those plays by the way was a start game feral killed me as i was going to the start house my party running into a fence, or fighting a normal.
outside of getting building materials to get upgrades, supplies wasn't an issue for me. the upgradeable buildings made that a none issue. med station uses 2 meds? the iconic in drucker, gives 2 meds and some health jazz. need ammo? any normal supply post upgraded. so food? well if you can get the garden going , 2 posts, sorted on food , dont know how to get the talon uplink anymore, for the +2 posts, or the talon guy for an extra ontop of those massive amount of spare shit.
and even after all that? you only need those supplies because theres no weapons dropping to deal with the ferals spawning to defend hearts, like yay i lobbed a molly at the heart, time to just go far away and do it again later. just not fucking fun dealing with those twats.
The plague territory update increase the dificulty a lot
The hardest run I've done is lethal, melee only, 1 max pop. Used a mostly new vigil guard red talon member so no need to sleep. Super slow play through had to get an alied enclave with labour bonus
That's the weakness of State of Decay, avoiding zombies and outrunning them. It works on any difficulty.
It's true 👍 great video
anyway, on my pc the game has now so many new bugs it is really annoying to play, very hard to enjoy at the moment. i found so far 5 major bugs, but must stupidly annoying is zombie standing inside the car, unhittable, and you have to get in the vehicle to move it to get access to zombie....well, lets wait for another patch;)
How are you able to stop shooting the pyro launcher without dodging or crouching ?
Just aim again with it.
Lol I disagree with the feral point... the minute you have it matched, it calls on other zombies to help it... best to shoot it or try running it over...
Ferals aren't that noisy. They may seem loud to your ears, but the game doesn't consider them loud in terms of the sound mechanic.
I mean I jumped from a green zone into a lethal so my first play through is chaotic
Cleo halo is OP.. no worries on lethal with 12 ppl
Harder difficulties are easy if you:
Use crossbows/suppressors, stealth and don't quick search.
If you want an actual challenge, don't implement any of that and the difficulty will spike 10x.
So you need to play the game like a fool to get a challenge? That's called bad game design.
This video is proof that some people are just built different, I struggle with nightmare zone but I can do it meanwhile I've never lasted more than 45mins in lethal zone
When you master Nightmare Zone, you will find Lethal Zone to be no different.
@@GitGudFox I dont know man, I've been playing this game since release I think I've hit my cap
The one thing they could do to make a lot harder is remove aim snap
Fox, my game opened with a feral horde before we left the vehicle! Then three screamers and two hordes... I fixed the car and copped an insta-spawn bloater... bailed out and got overwhelmed and killed. Repeat that...sneak to get car fixed & trio of ferals & horde after car randomly is destroyed and bail out. I got down to 1 survivor. Then got plague, before any cure avail... lone survivor overwhelmed w no decent weapon. All gone in day one. I rebooted game & wiped cache. It was insane from the start. Now just in Nightmare Zone...
Random Survivors...
I suppose its true I lost way more survivors on nightmare, took me several painful deaths to learn my pro strategy of 'quit to main menu before you die' style of play 😂
And you can give up that by using the pyrolauncher, a sniper tower, managing how much sound you make, and learning effective running away.
@@GitGudFox all true, though despite being on my second lethal zone run (came back after a long abscence for trumbull) Ive never acquired the pyrolauncher, not a clue how to get it, ill have to look it up, but on this run Ive been focusing more on good mechanics and struggling through running from the blood ferals, currently I take a flashbang and a cardio pill bottle to bail or at the least a soda and a cheap explosive and I typically park in a way to hopefully escape without needing anything (I would fight them more but too damn many other zombies)
but yah, I really didnt like the cheezyness of my first run, currently my 2 biggest issues are triple blood feral packs and mid game blood hearts, early ones are pretty easy since they dont send much at you and endgame is really just a contest on how fast you can clear the map once you get access to scent block, explosive gas grenades, LOTS of 7.62 ammo and or c4, but im typically stuck in limbo until I hit endgame after the first few days, im not really sure how it scales but typically I can clear 3-4 hearts as long as I am standing on a vehicle with lots of molotovs early on, this dont work too good when I start getting alternative freaks joining the feral or the heart is hidden away from windows lol
Been watching your videos for the last few hours btw, its great stuff and im picking up alot of things I want to try or do different, also they are just entertaining so thats good too 😉. havent gotten to any of your tips or pointer kinda videos yet though so maybe youve already covered those exact problems
Basically, there's an answer to every threat in SoD2 such that you should basically never die.
Lots of zombies - pyrolauncher
Ferals - gunslinging, pyrolauncher, car (let them jump and and squish them), sniper tower + climbing up on something
Blood Ferals - pyrolauncher, sniper tower, gunslinging with an autoshotgun, sniper tower + climbing up something
Juggernauts - Bouncing Boris, high capacity gun with a brake, sniper tower
Blood Juggernaut - Bouncing Boris, high capacity gun with a brake, sniper tower
You can outrun every enemy in the game except ferals, and you can burn them and run while they put themselves out.
Level 3 Infirmary + Surgery + Pathology = +50HP, +50% Plague Resistance, and +50% Injury Resistance
There's an answer to every enemy, every situation. All those whacky videos of people dying are often because they just make bizarre decisions.
You need systematic, methodological, calculated responses to all situations. It should be like nothing phases you. Every situation is a normal situation.
@@GitGudFox wow great in depth response, thank you, I also just ran into a question that I had 2 years ago on one of your videos that you answered then as well, you good sir absolutely have a new sub
u didnt turn off the mini map
Quick question: Why am I getting 1 food per day when I am supposed to get 5, it’s written plus 5 food per day?
Probably because your survivors are eating the other 4
I checked the daily consumption they eat 8 food and I make more than that but I still only get 1 food per day when it is plus 5
Make sure your gardens are seeded and composted. Those effects last for like an hour, and it's possible that they wore off in between you checking last and the day ending.
@@GitGudFox alright thanks
Recently started Lethal zone on my own, brand new characters. No guns, crap weapons, and my starting base had 3 bloaters in/around it and a feral. Very bad start
It can happen, but the good news is that it hardly matters since you're only a few minutes in. Better to get your bad luck out of the way immediately!
10/10 in survive. combat 6/10. NPC friend/enemy 8/10
Would it be fair to say that lethal zone is equal to nightmare but with blood ferals?
Yeah, that isn't unfair.
Lethal is 10 difficulty and I fear the double juggernaut / horde..
I find lethal zone annoying more than anything. Maybe its just me but fighting gets me tackled by 4 ferrals damn near every time
.
No thanks.
I lost 2 members in this zone
