    Matt, some technical questions.
    1) What are the added benefits of a 3v LED compared to a 6v or 12v LED?
    2) Are these new Luminus LEDs more efficient or better than the CREE LEDs?
    3) Are these single die Luminus LEDs better in the real world than the quad die CREE XHP LEDs?
I have noticed that Luminus is really bringing out some very interesting LEDs lately. What do you think about them?

@@rikard1414 I ask because it happened to my thrunite tc15. I live in Southern California, it wasn't snowing, however there was a lot of mist on a fairly cold morning, and just recently receiving my flashlight, I wanted to see how well it would light up with the neutral white color on turbo. The light was on for about 30 seconds and then turned it off. A bit later, I used it again to light up a spot on the ground where I was working and after I turned it off my friend pointed out the glass was broken, It was still cold and foggy but this time I left it on for about 60 seconds, the flashlight was extremely hot this time but I know I turned it off before the thermal protection or the power step down kicked in. I had not dropped the light even once so there was no other reason I can think of that would cause the glass to crack, no visible chip on the lense, just cracked across about 3/4 of the way across the middle

I would really want to get your opinion on the Thrunite TN42
To a novice like myself it looks as good as those lites in the 350-$400 range but for$150???
Is that even possible, am I missing something?
    Thanks

    Nice video Matt - thanks.
I wonder if the switch you showed for your Nightwatch is different from the "production" version? I really can't see that Omten switching the DC currents this light is pulling for very long. The website quotes a "20mm 10A" switch.

I'm obsessed with flashlights and always looking for the brightest at a reasonable price.
I screwed up and ordered a Imalent MS18 online and after ordering I realized the company (if there is one) was in China. I knew then I was going to get screwed and I was right.
They never sent me the light and didn't refund my money. And PayPal wouldn't even back me up so I lost everything.
It's hard to tell what companies are legit.
Do you have an idea of where I can get lights and not get screwed?

Hey I have an old 40,000 candle power rechargeable flashlight that was my dads when he was a policeman. He got this light back in the 80s and it still looks great other than a few teeth Mark's but its totally different from the mag lights that have just a round button to turn them on, the big rubber square and connections to charge it are all one piece so I was wondering if you knew of a kit to make it a led flashlight?

Great video! Quick question. You stated you disabled the temperature sensor. Is that a hardware or software disable? As a EDC, I have a Nitecore TM-10K 10K lumen flashlight. I love this light because of the form factor and has a great flood dispersion. But because of the form factor, it’s very limited on cooling and battery capacity.
With that said, how can I disable the timer on the turbo (10K lumen) mode and disable the temperature sensor? It always says ‘OVERHEAT’ on the display and I can only fire the turbo mode for 7 seconds. Thanks!

Is the night watch stalker sbt90.2 worth the extra cash over the astrolux ft03, the range is about the same, the nw stalker has twice the lumens. But when the 90.2 emiter/driver combo become more available would it not be more effective if put into the astrolux ft03 with the larger head? Just debating on which one to get?

Maybe it's time to wait for a new battery technology.
I just saw this today, a battery with enough power to make a 10 millions lumens flashlight feasible:
      scitechdaily.com/superfast-charging-high-capacity-potassium-batteries-based-on-organic-polymers/
"Also, the batteries based on these two materials displayed unrivaled power characteristics of nearly 100,000 W/kg - a level typical for supercapacitors."

    • @practicalguy973
      @practicalguy973 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I was looking at that Emisar last week, seems amazing but its not exactly a mini like the Catapult V6 or the GT mini. Those are the size of a C8 body. The Emisar noctigon K1 has fairly low lumen for long distance so you'd expect a needle sized hot spot for that kind of candela. Another option in that slightly larger size is the Acebeam T27. Its 2500 lumen and 1.2KM distance. I own the T27 and GT mini and the T27 destroys the GT mini for throw and twice the lumen.
