    I am a fan of the single AA runners with the focusable aspheric lenses. Most of them have a clip, I use an old ball cap and cut a small slit near the center of the bill. Work the clip in the slit and you will have a hands free light that shines everywhere you point your head. It's so light it won't tip the cap, works very well without the complications of those harness rigs...

    2 AA lights? The Sofirn SP10S and the Lumintop tool AA2.0. Both amazing lights. The Aa2.0 is the most versitale, tailclicky or magnet tail, The SP 800Lm and the Aa 650 Lm. With a 14500. AA is also possible but then the lumens drop of course.I must say that these two lights are so good that Incan do 80% of what I do round the house with these two.
    And thanks for your excellent review!

    After initial disappointment of the delivery time, and then the apparent low output verses battery life (using a Nitecore cell) from the Micro - I did some tests. This time using a Keepower cell, I achieved over 2 hours on full power (Yes the output will ramp down) , which is good enough for me. The light output compared to my Cateye Volt1200 , and my Magicshine 906 (?) cycle light on turbo is incredible for such a small unit - the focused beam penetrates the darkness far better than the two bike lights. For night delivery work, the Micro can replace my heavy generic 3500 lumen touch .

    Btw I think the best EDC ever is the Nitecore P12GT. Runs on a single 18650, has an excellent user interface, an amazing throw for its size, and just great performance all round. I feel like they went backwards with the new P12GTS. They increased the lumens and gave up a lot of throw. You don’t really notice the difference between the outputs, and it’s almost always better to have better throw as the spill between the two lights is great anyways.

    I ordered 2 neutral white micros as soon as they were available. Can't wait to get them. As far as 2AA's go, I use the Sofirn SF13. I put a Lumileds v2 in one and an SST-20 in another. The V2 was more impressive to me. I like a 3500k light myself.

    Matt, GREAT VID AS USUAL! Hey, I'm wanting a good thrower @ $100.00 or less. Need at least 600 ft out of it. I prefer a smaller light for ease of carry. It's for spotting coyotes way out in the field before letting my small dog out at night. I prefer 18650 or larger battery. Can't wait for your recommendation/recommendations

    Matt, you might want to check out the Maratac AAx2 Extreme from CountyComm. The current light is their rev5. They list it at 700 lumens high with a run time of 1.5 hours at that level. I have the earlier rev2 that is listed at 650 lumens. It has decent throw and spill with low, medium and high with SOS and strobe blinkies. Decent threads and a good quality body. It might be worth your time when looking for a 2 AA.

    I have the first 2. I kinda wish the Big Boy had a bigger led & ir spread out a tad farther but it will reach out there. That GT Mini or the middle size is the baddest ass little light. It’s worth the $50 it cost. It will blow your mind. It’s pretty much the light that you can use for anything within let’s say
    your line of sight. It will light up an owl for 100 yards easy. The led looks dang near the dame size of the Big Daddy one. I gotta get the small one just to have the whole crew but suspect it willbe really close to the GT Mini or middle flashlight.
    That GT Mini will literally blow away my 6Dcell Mag light. I’d bet the smallest will as well.

    I have the 1,300 lumen energizer flashlight and I think they are great lights to have. Water proof, drop resistant tough and durable aluminum. Nice shiny and professional finish.
    Great battery life for the brightness compared to other flashlights just like them.
    But I want your opinion on it.

    but the mini is better at all, or?
    I mean, its not that much bigger than the Micro, but use 18650 cells, which mean it will last much longer?!
    Once i got a modded LedLenser F1, around 700-800 lumen, running only with 16340. Its a very nice light, but always, when i go outside with the F1 only, i needed at least 1 replacement battery with me, mostly i went outside with 3 full 16340 AWs, one inside the lamp, the other two in a cheap plastic box. It was not very EDC friendly, so i used as EDC light a DQG Tiny 3 18650. The batteries lasted like a week, also thanks to a very CW, effective LED (F1 has NW, Hi CRI led) and not very high output levels, included a fast stepping down "Turbo".
    Luckily, we have already so much nice (keychain) lights with ridicilous outputs (Nitecore Tip, Tip2), all they dont do is acting as a thrower. But is a dragster thrower that useful at all like the GT Micro? Nice to have probably, but i dont see any sense in it, its like a 10 minute mini thrower.

      For what the averaged person would use it for it'll do fine...majority these flashlights are just toys..turbo modes only running for seconds which is kool but to pay $600 for a light with say 50k lumens but can only have said lumens For a limited time!

    • @jonjones2017
      @jonjones2017 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tony Tyler Literally all good flashlights that push the boundaries of their own form factor will step down after a brief time in their highest mode. It’s physics. Would you prefer lights to just stay at the turbo output and fry themselves? Or would you prefer to not have the turbo modes in the first place so they don’t step down? The third option is what lights do right now, which is step down on high modes and also have lower mode selections. I think that’s the best option probably.

    I found most AA lights carried in my pocket are not that much smaller than an 18650 so I carry a AAA or an 18650. I’d like to see a good Double AA that carries as good as the Terra-LUX 80 but with more power. It might be a pen light but the LUX does not go into the front pocket of a shirt. Show me a 2-AA EDC that’s slimmer than the Nitecore P12 and I just might buy it. Good video.

    • @Mishibar
      @Mishibar 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the complete opposite.
      I think 4mm wider and 15mm longer battery makes an enormous difference in a pocket.
      AA/14500 is by far my favorite form factor, its the perfect blend of output and decent runtime in a small enough package for EDC use (not that I would use this for EDC, head is too large)

    • @ChrisJohnson-ht3gx
      @ChrisJohnson-ht3gx 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mishibar ...I luv the width (19mm) of the Lumintop AA/or 14500. Now if I could find a light with that width,& takes 2 AA or 2 14500s I’d truly consider buying it. If you know of one 19mm width from top to bottom please let me know.....Now that I’m thinking about again I will check Amazon. The length of a 2-AA light has never bothered me, just the width, brand and maybe the $3.50 lights shipped free from China might worry me a bit😂....LOL

    • @Mishibar
      @Mishibar 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChrisJohnson-ht3gx Im curious, why the interest in longer lights ?
      for the extended runtime or something else ?
      And no sorry, I dont know of any current slim form factor 2xAA lights.
      I know the old Foursevens Mini 2A was extremely thin, but its out of production now.
      I looked at it and mistaked it for a AAA penlight

      Mishibar I may have misunderstood your first reply. As far as the length goes, I like knowing it’s in my pocket without having to keep checking. The Terralux takes 2 batteries and is about 5.5” long. I’m nearing 60 and I’ve lost one Terralux on the bus but not because it fell out. I’ve put down my sunglasses next to me on the bus and a few days later a young kid is wearing them. As far as length of the light, I always know the Terralux or Nitecore is in my pocket. When I took the AA Lumintop out I was constantly checking to make sure it was still in my pocket. The same goes for the Olight Mini that takes an 18350 I think. But at least the Olight can fit in my 5th pocket of my jeans and I know it’s not going anywhere. I also noticed the reviewer had a light that I thought took 2-AA or 2-14500s and that started me thinking about it.

      One of my favorites is the Boruit D10. It's a very light weight quality unit for about $10. I swap in a 60° TIR lens for a nice wide view at close up distances. Stock emitter is an okay CW, but I swap in a LH351D 5000K or my new favorite the Nichia 319AT D400 5000K. I get beautiful accurate white light to help me see accurate wire colors when working on wiring harnesses, etc... Great for everything. The D10 has built-in USB charging and a nice simple UI.

    The most important thing i care about for a thrower is the runtime on max. With ThruNite Catapult V6 Mini Thrower on turbo you get 150 minutes. Is this GT Micro even close?

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can tell you right now the Catapult V6 will not stay on turbo that long. It has to reduce output to keep from burning you. Note that the specs say High mode is 165 minutes. This means Turbo will last just a few minutes, maybe 3 to 5 minutes, then it steps down to High mode. If you want sustainable high output you want a big light to handle the heat and a big battery. This little GT Micro sacrifices sustained high output for a much smaller size and lighter weight.
