Good on you for getting the MB146 Alexandra! Amazing! I did order a vintage one for my self this Christmas, but the trailer transporting it burnt to the ground, so no MontBlanc for me. But Im stoked, I used the insurance money pluss some more and ordered a Namiki fountain pen from Nippon traditional art series, with mt Fuji and Dragon maki-e on it, as a consolation prize/replacement gift. I suspect Im going to baby it for a long time.
Hemingway, you are a real romantic. I love your perspective regarding books, ephemera, recipe cards and stories. Lovely ideas! I adore my things to do lists. I will have to use my fountain pen for writing them from now on.
Good Morning Hemingway! Caught the re-play last night and enjoyed it very much. For me journaling just doesn't work. Maybe the fact of writing about myself, doesn't appeal. I keep FP's in my life by EDC. Various pens, which include the Lamy Safari, Kaweco Sports and lately, it's been my Jinhao 80, which was a frustrating, hard starting pen, but was TRANSFORMED with Private Reserve Infinity ink! Now a very reliable writer. I also enjoy practicing my cursive. Once in a while, when I get inspired, I will start a short story. I've started at least three or four, but haven't finished any of them! It's fun to write stories with a fountain pen, though! A bit of a comment on the length of You Tube videos. The TV people have had years of experience, and it is no coincidence that TV shows usually max out at an hour (unless they are showing a movie). They don't want their audience to start changing channels, because of a lack of interest. While some You Tube FP videos used to run around two hours or more, it is hard for many folks to keep interest that long. As for me, as I am a few years older than you are HJ, I would oft times fall asleep during these marathon shows, and it was usually right before they were going to discuss a subject I had interest in. For me, I would try to stay around an hour or just a little less, and if the subject isn't covered, just do a part two. Hope you get your ecamm worked out! Have a great week!
The show helped me solve two mysteries; what models are those Waterman pens I have (Phileas) and where and when did I get them (Levenger, 1990s sometime). Thank you to the commentors who cracked my memory open. Now I have to get them repaired. I still have many Levenger Stanley notebooks from my working days, they are not very FP friendly.
Here is an odd trivia point to celebrate the subject about fountain pens in our life: When one appears as a lawyer presenting a case argument to the US Supreme Court, you sit at counsel table at the front of the courtroom. At the place at the table is a quill pen and a blotter card. You are welcome to take these with you as a memento. I had a privilege of appearing at the Court in 1982. I framed the quill pen and blotter in a shadow box and it remains on my wall at my office. What an odd but joyous celebration of pens!
Chats are fun.. next time in front of snowy windows for those of us green with envy on snowless plots of concrete? And could Alexandria share that shop for us Canadians? About the topic: Make commonplace notebooks for the information you repeatedly look up, or what you did to solve a frequent problem-all those things you wish you remembered the next time they happen. It’s a great way to start slow and attune yourself to the practice of putting pen to paper. Likewise, think about all things you get frustrated about forgetting, and make notebooks to end those frustrations.
Another great video,my sailor 1911,my jeweler try the pen out and slip out of his hand and bent the nib,so I sent it to nib master in Colorado Kirk spears.frank in Oswego, ill

Just picked up : Roland Allen - The Notebook, a history of thinking on paper.
Nice! Great book!
