I love the way Dr. Nancy just goes with flow and whatever they need she gives it to them and makes life happier for everyone! It's a good thought. Cows weigh way more than Ginger. If bovibond keeps blocks on cows feet, I doubt Ginger would be able to get it off. 😊

WOW. Fascinating and such a learning experience. It is so wonderful that you are able to have a vet on staff and Dr. Nancy was an excellent choice. I hope and pray that little Ginger will keep that little plank on her hoof so that she can stretch those tendons be able to walk much more normally. Prior to her experience I didn't know that a club foot could be surgically corrected. I look forward to more videos and to seeing Ginger grow into her new foot and all that entails. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Well look at her walking so much better! She's still getting used to the new angle of placing her foot. It's obviously it's still a little stiff, but having had a torn tendon myself at one point, I know those take time to heal all the way. She's doing so well. If I didn't know that was a surgical wound, I'd just assume she'd skinned it on some fencing or something. It'll probably do some good to let it be open at least some of the time. I know when I get cuts, they heal faster after a certain point if left open. Dr. Nancy and Elijah make such a great team. He obviously knows his horse anatomy very well. I can tell he loves being able to have some x-rays to look at when there's an issue. I don't imagine that's something a lot of farriers get regularly (but probably should).
If these aren't posted the same day they are recorded, could the date they are recorded be overlaid at the start or just have Doctor Nancy say what the date is. That would make it easier to see where it fits in the timeline of the main channel.

Ginger wants to do what she wants to do and she wanted to make sure that man knew he's not the boss of her! I noticed how relaxed she was though when Dr. Nancy was rubbing her leg. She liked that but as soon as the farrier took over, she was done lol

Total greenhorn here, most definitely lover of horses eternally. Retired M.T. Curious, would a beveled "shoe" of sorts, like a shim, encourage Ginger's hoof to ride (if you will) more on her heal? Then gradually decrease the angle of bevel. Again, greenhorn lover of horseseternal!!! You guys are awesome. Love all of you, your kind, thoughtful, respectful hearts towards these beautiful animals.❤🤗🥰🙏🏼💝

Honey is antibacterial and antifungal. We just use non pasteurized honey, we have had dogs with a de-gloved front leg from owner allowing a cast on the front leg absorb pee without putting a bag on the cast when they went outside, the cotton in the cast was like a wick. The urine ate the skin all off the leg. We used the honey and did a wet to dry wraps and it all grew back. Honey is amazing.
When all is said and done, and Ginger is all healed up, if it were me I'd be really hard pressed to let her be adopted. I'd have to find some very good reason that she needs to stay on the farm. But that's just me 😁. At the same time I'm confident you would only let her go to just the "right" adopter "for her". I keep thinking, doesn't Dr. Nancy need her own horse? 😄👍
JUST FROM A TINKERER'S POINT OF VIEW, I THINK, IT MIGHT HELP, TO ADD SOME MATERIAL TO THE FRONT OF HER HOOF, TO TAKE AWAY SOME OF HER LEVERAGE, FOR SNAPPING OFF HER CLOG. KIND OF, LIKE A COWCATCHER, ON AN OLD-TIMEY TRAIN ENGINE? IT MIGHT MAKE IT EASIER, TO GET HER HEEL TO DROP DOWN, TOO.
So many competing factors to take into consideration with these treatments. She used to be so hard to work with now she stands for most stuff which just goes to show how well you have all been treating her, no pain trauma from all those treatments is practically a miracle. I am so involved in the process now totally hooked. Well done everyone involved.
EquineSleeve! You should try one on Ginger for the inflammation. It would also hold the gauze in place without strong tape.
Oh that was Ginger who jumped up during an auction intake procedure. Cause someone was just asking on Facebook why people sit on horses while they're sedated. And I recalled the incident of Ginger popping up in the stall without warning, which looked scary. I just didn't remember what horse it was.
That seems like a dangerous practice.
Jeremy might get some glue from JP the hoofman. It's a new very strong glue he has for the blocks he puts on cow's hoofs. He may want to look it up.

U can try bolvi-bond like they put on cows
2-components fast drying glues should hold much better and the initial curing time is at most a few minutes (made by Mustad, Kerckhaert, Kerbl, Vettec, and a lot of cattle-oriented producers - I live in Europe, but I'm sure they're available also in the USA), and it's possible to make a extension only out of those glues (without using wood) or glue-on a horseshoe with metal extension (typical horseshoe can last a few weeks glued-on, so similar durability to nails). We usually used typical nailed horseshoes with welded toe extensions in cases like this (but in much younger foals)
I know another Ginger that is as unpredictable as your Ginger, only she is a cranky lady who is 17 years old. A friend of mine has a horse who looks a lot like Ginger , if she doesn't want to go out for a trail ride she doesn't move unless there are treats involved. Dr. Nancy i am so glad you are on staff at the HPHS, To see Ginger coming along so well is great to see and it is all down to your attention to detail and resourcefulness with the Farrier and your perseverance to get the job done, No mater what the weather it seems you have rain down south. In Canada we are preying we don't get anymore snow till Winter comes around again. We have had a lot of snow this year but the last bits of snow will be all melted in the next couple of days. At least you don't have to shovel the rain. that is a blessing. God Bless Dr. Nancy. you are a true angel.

There is a glue called Bovibond that cow hoof trimmers use to glue on blocks to their cows....that holds really well. They don't have to mix it, it just comes right out of a tube and sets very quickly. Wonder if that would work
Maybe once Gingers hoof heals pretty much done she can be adopted out? Think she make a good smaller kids horse. Based on her size, plus be easier on the club foot, though its looking pretty good. She looks so calm and gentle.
She's only about a year old, she is still growing

The stuff they use on cattle is fast setting and lasts a long time
Mechanics of it dictate that has low probabilty of holding like that. BUT there is a way to fix that... If you ut few more piececes of wood in front of her hoof so it is more like a closed human shoe, it changes the leverage and it is less likely to pull off.
I wonder if an old pair of rubber strap on boots with the heel cut off might be easier to keep on her foot?
Dr Nancy needs to keep ginger as her own horse as she gets on better with ginger and she will know what ginger is able to do when ginger is ready to be trained to have a rider on her back
She doesn't *have* to be trained to carry a rider. It may not be the best thing for her.
The Hoof GP uses glue for blocks for cattle. I wonder if that glue would be a better glue for this purpose.

Try making a metal plate for ginger hoof that will cover the whole hoof you can nail them on the hoof and the metal plate can come in different thickness and you can cut it to the shape of the hoof try plaster Paris that you use for a broken leg
Just curious, but why not make a metal shoe/toe extension and nail it on? Seems like you could design a special shoe with all the right angles and support to stretch the tendon a little easier.
Maybe you should work together with some prosthetic specialists to create a therapeutic shoe for this hoof! Maybe it could help better with this issue with Ginger! Just a thought about it and have a wonderful and peaceful day and lovely greetings from Sarah!

Have you thought about changing Giner's Name, maybe after an athlete (Like Mia Hamm, Kristine Yamaguch, or Troy Aikman but Tori) that also had clubfoot. As a reminder that having this injury doesn't mean she can't run in the future?
Wondering why the wood plank couldn’t be nailed on like a shoe or make a shoe?

They would do that if it was an option. The hoof doesn't come to the ground normally, that's what they're trying to correct. Where would you even nail it?

I'm not surprised he has a jig saw or sawzall. If he's dealt with any abused Sawzall. that's the fast way to cut long hoof off to not overstress the horse who doesn't want hurting feet handled, but needs curling hoof cut off.

She's a good vet. No doubt about it. But I really miss the other vets that used to be on there. Didn't baby talk, or talk to the animal instead of to the camera. (To us, the viewers) I have to watch it on mute.
