"I will have the galaxy lick the dirt off my boot, I will reign terror and eradicate all free will. But first I must put on my goofy cape and clasp." - Darkseid, apparently
I still don’t know how I feel about this dude he’s classic which suits my needs but he reminds me to much of super powers with the bright colours and the cape for me to get him
The non-removable cape already soured me on this Darkseid, but after seeing him come apart like Toy Story's Mr. Potato Head. I'll stick with my ancient Return of Supergirl DC Direct version for now.
Could have been the best McFarlane mega-fig if they hadn't Heard the bed. He can't move and the shoulders are inexcusable. Very generous score on the review.
YES. I did a review on it, and said it LOOKS nice. But the limbs keep falling off. The Adam West Batman was great. IDK what happened with the QC on this one.
@@hellomonday1068 Totally agree. I picked it up, and the leg fell out. All the limbs are very loose. I've never seen anything like this. PLUS, it was $40. The cape is good. But that's it.
@@CaptainHavfun-lp4ok I can't even move the arms without them popping off. I have to take it off, pose it, then pop it back on. It looks good, but come on.
He had a cape veeeeeery few times in the comics. Maybe in a couple of issues of Forever People, like at the very beginning when he was more human looking, and sometimes later during the Super Friends era but just when he was making a dramatic entrance or something, then he always discarded it. The cape is just a weird move by McFarlane. Or maybe just a flex by them saying “hey look, we can do this now”
I actually managed to pick this Darkseid up last weekend at my local Nerd Base in the UK shame about the faulty factory line making this mehafig I'm sort of saving him for the holidays but overall love this classic look.
The first thing I did when I opened this figure was cut off the terrible cape. It improves things a lot. The cape is awful as it won't lay naturally down his back and it's always sticking out.
I gotta say, this Darkseid looks fantastic. It’s too bad he falls apart too easily. Hopefully we’ll get a JLU version of Darkseid and fix it from falling apart.
Initially I liked this one. But I wasn't going to get it especially after seeing reviews of it. Mcfartlane's scale is all over the place. Like the god awful swamp thing, the color is good, but the engineering is good awful. If they'd used a soft rubber overlay for the torso,so the arms don't pop out and made it a tad bit smaller maybe...😂❤
As a more classic 80s Darkseid I can love with the height. I think he could be taller but I do like that he can scale with 6" and 7" scale figures. As for the waist, honestly even just some minor tweaks with the engineering they had would have made a world of difference. Once I have him posed and on a shelf he's fine, but def frustrating
@@5POAFigureReviews just a tad smaller. Not much. Darkseid is a giant but not a titan. And mcfartlane could have done much better with the torso. Like blood sport. 👍
I'm real mixed on the cape myself, I just think either the wire is too weak or the fabric is too stiff. One or the other. I've also trimmed the trunks a bit to make articulation easier. I also saw someone say they sanded the shoulder area on the torso and that helped the arms stay in
I really want to get him and display him with my Mafex hush superman But the fact that he keeps falling apart makes Me Wonder if theres other good darkseid figures?
Heat up that medallion and pop it off, there's a tiny little post sticking out of his chest that the medallion is glued onto that can be snipped off and shaved down with an exacto knife or dremmel if your careful and that makes the cape optional and upgradeable!
I really wanted this, but I read nothing but terrible things about this toy. I'm a huge Kirby fan. So now I'm confused. I guess I'll wait for it to become discounted.
There's been rumors that we're getting a wave based on the Justice League Taskforce game with Darkseid as the BAF so that would explain why this figure's limbs are so loose.
I returned mine. the loose limbs problems make it unusable. the upper arms have veins. and the heads are different color grey than the body. this should have been a home run. instead it's the biggest dissapointment in the history of the line.
This figure was a damn disaster, that rumoured BAF better fix these issues but more than likely it will use the same mold so it will have the exact same problems.
I've never really liked this costume for Darkseid. I much prefer the modern outfit for him. If they made a Justice League Apocalypse War figure of Darkseid? I'd be all over that. As of now my favorite Megafig is Knightfall Bane from the 2 pack.
I have to say this review impressed me with one thing. How in the world do you make #Darkseid move his legs to sit down? 😂 I can't with my figure the legs are stiff. But in the end I really like this #Darkseid
I love the look. BUT... 1) i wish the articulation was better. I'm just looking at Hasbro Marvel Legends Thing, Rhino, and Hulk. They're huge megafig sized figures and they have crazy amounts of articulation and range. 2) that he didn't fall apart. 3) his cape was much bigger. in most comics where he has a cape, it flows down to his ankles.
The cape and lack or good articulation killed my interest in the figure, but if Mcfarlane rereleases a more modern take that can sit in that Omega throne I will likely get it.
That surprised me too. I'm not enough of an expert of Darkseid to know, was his name known that far back or is that a more recent addition to the lore? If so, maybe it's because of that?
@@5POAFigureReviews his name has been around since at least as early as 1987, as far as I can tell. It's in a DC Comics Encyclopedia from that year. I don't know what comic book story it first appears in. Presumably before that. But John Byrne created a 4 part origin story for him later in 1997. So it's been around for a while either way.
I really don't think this should have made it to production like this. I haven't even had a baf that falls apart that easily. The Frost King and Beast Boy figures I have don't really have that issue. It's a shame because my JL Darkseid's biceps come apart really easily, and I'd like a good Darkseid figure.
Imo he should have came with omega beams and more paint, this look really isnt doing it for me and all the issues showed in this vid doesnt leave me with high expectations for whenever mcfarlane makes a new 52 version of him
I rate that fig a total of 1 out of 5. The mega-fig looks cool I admit, but with its sh!tty quality of limbs easily falling apart...f*ck that! Ain't worth the $40. Fig should've been $10 or less at retail price for that. Actually thought about purchasing the fig, but after seeing this video... nope! McFarlane can suck it, cause he ain't getting my good earn money on this one.
BEST? HELL NO. It's THE WORST. It has TONS of QC issues. The limbs fall off ALL THE TIME. It's not a figure to play with. Only posing. Even my build a figure Plastic Man is more sturdy. GIANT POS.
Heres a random guess why the copyright is listed as Superman-specific: Darkseid first appeared in comics in "Superman's Best Pal: Jimmy Oleson"

4:50 Absolutely valid. Falls apart too easily.
Agreed
Characters like Darkseid ARENT SUPPOSED to have crazy articulation…he needs to stand there looking badass, which he does
Mine the only one arms falls off easy if I move it a lot

Yeah the way it lays is a big issue. If it were longer it would have helped
Thanks. I needed to know why mine kept falling apart.
Happy to help lol
Great review as always.
Thank you!

Are you going to review the mafex stealth iron man when it comes out?
You know it. Why, it's even going to be a Versus.
I use a tiny bit of paper towels or tissue paper in the ball joints to tighten them a bit. See if that works here for this figure.

Can this darkseid swapped part with zack's version?
Sorry, no. Pegs are not compatible

Looking closely, there are even R and L stamped on the legs in a way that tells me this is a BAF
There’s a rumor of a Justice League task force video game wave with a Darkseid baf so that makes sense to why he’s constantly falling apart lol
Looks awesome with the 6 scale figures!
Yeah he does! I am so glad I thought of trying that

Should have made kalibak much smaller, he's normally shorter than his dad.
This figure was a damn disaster, that rumoured BAF better fix these issues but more than likely it will use the same mold so it will have the exact same problems.
I think they should re release him so he doesn't come apart like a baf not this way. Jack Kirby would be ashamed
I do think he was to be a baf, since it looks like they are using him for the Baf in their Capcom wave
If they release a black suit variant with no cape, I'll pick it up with 0 hesitantation.
Or even just dark blue and darker grey skin
Been casually looking for this guy. Id have to take off the cape and add a skirt.
If you do it and post pics on IG lemme know so I can see!
