Hey it’s me the mercy who submitted this VOD! I’m rewatching this a few months later and I can definitely see what I messed up on this game. Right now I feel like I’ve definitely improved on not only my Mercy gameplay but support in general. I’ve made damage boost my primary fire that I’m now mostly 55-60% dmg boost and 45-40% healing (it’s been mentioned to me I need to damage boost more), I’ve gotten a better understanding of when to use Valk, I know where I want to position when my Valk finishes, I only pull out my pistol for low HP targets, and I’ve made it to Gold 3 (I don’t play much comp nowadays, I’m finishing college rn!). Every now and then I think about this game and it’s funny to me now lol. Anyways - thank you for your feedback and tips Emongg, maybe sometime soon I’ll submit a VOD for your new “Where are they now” series! (P.S. I’ve seen some comments that in order for me to climb I need to stop playing Mercy - I also play Ana/Kiri/Moira/Zen - I just wanted to play Mercy this game 😊)
That tank has some serious respect from me, to be willing to switch characters and playstyles during a comp game shows really good mental & willingness to adapt
Well they 100% switched to junk because they were thinking “well since my healers are incompetent I’ll heal myself” then after a few times probably realized they were the problem…. Maybe
Advice for the Mercy: 1 - Super-Jump less and with purpose since SJ makes you an easy target for hit-scan. 2 - look around for threats since you don't need to look at your beam targets 3 - ping enemies like that flanking brig
happened to me once. even I got SCOLDED at for not damaging my dps by them asking me about my stats, lol. but I was damaging my dps the entire time!! they werent putting out enough damage so whats my stats matter at that point
as a plat player, all this mercy needs to do is work on positioning and ult usage. plat players are dumb but they can aim so cover starts to become important
theres a big chance the doom is a smurf bc there are so many doom mains (mostly diamond and masters) deranking to low elos so they can dominate them they will 5 stack just give us wins in comp to derank
One thing this Mercy knows is not to go in when someone on their team feeds. That's a very valuable skill to help with your own survivability. They've been playing pretty well and after some work on specific decision making, playing around natural cover more (it'll become super important) and balancing the dmg/heal beams this Mercy is good to go. Also remember to adjust your playstyle according to your second support. With Illari (if you see the pylon is in a good spot to heal chip damage), you can damage boost a whole lot more. And Illari can look after herself easier than an Ana or Zen, for example. If you got a Zen you HAVE TO focus more on healing unfortunately BUT you can damage boost Zenyatta a lot too if they hit their shots. It's all about adapting as soon as possible. If you see something not working, switch it up. People get smarter the higher the rank, so being unable to adjust to the game is really detrimental
Honestly this was pretty solid play by the Mercy. I'm relatively positive they can rank up just by being a bit more purposeful with their movements and positioning. Concentrate on staying in places that allow you to be able to reach the maximum amount of teammates and specifically use SJ when you're doing something like 1) Looking to position for escape 2) Looking to position to assist more teammates more easily 3) Occasionally in downtime it is fine to use SJ as a scouting tool. You did overuse it a little bit, but not as much as some people were saying - they were running Rammatra and it can be really tricky especially on Moira/Mercy not to take a phenomenal amount of spam damage if you team plays grouped so you have to take the initiative of being somewhere the f else.
You gotta stop spamming GA on cooldown. That may have been useful to do in the past, but with the 3 second GA cooldown it is too long to wait for the next GA and if someone targets you, then you have no escape. You are better off playing on the floor around cover and using GA to relocate to safer positions when needed.
If you have a Mercy setting dedicated for Mercy mains, then: 1. You mean spamming SJ on cooldown, not GA. Simple GA can only give you 2s cooldown and canceling your GA can help you to reach your team especially if you're playing max beam range (and it has wayy faster cooldown than simple GA) AND if you're playing on the floor (and ngl much better if you're playing high ground + cover) 2. And staying on the air by using SJ together with holding space (for people who have their angelic decent off) is not a bad idea only if you need to get better ground and the higher grounds are too far from your target, just play cover, prepare to let your space go (or spamming your strafe and space -- this is called wingtapping) or find your escape plan beforehand, if you're being contested. And this will help you if you're also playing with dive or flying DPS heroes and against dive and hitscan heroes. 3. The best tip to give in this Mercy is they can use so many Mercy movement techniques and not only SJ. There are times that they only need to slingshot, cancel GA, or only commit for simple GA, but they always go for unnecessary SJ. And play ping.
Sj isnt the only one that extends the cool down hun, its every compound movement thats not just a reg GA. this mercy was spamming GA and SJ. SJ should be used to reposition not as positioning. compound movements are sling shots, Super jumps, bunny hops,SJ res, and back wards Ga, also you can no longer cancel a GA unless its the basic GA. @@tinytina6056
tip: if you stop super jumping off cooldown, youd die less to HS and widow :) tip 2: stop flying in the sky in valk ESPECIALLY with hitscan and snipers, youre a free kill.. beam length in valk gets doubled, stay in cover or low to the ground in the back,. tip 3: for lost games or low quality teammates: pick up a support with more carry potential,. mercy is only as good directly as her dps. yes a good mercy can carry but other supports do it better. moira and kiri and lucio are good aggressive supports for an aggressive team. an out of position mercy is easy to kill. tip 4: res in cover or where you can break LOS. tip 5: pay attention to your teams positioning so you can not die out of position. always have an escape path figured out tip 6: look around more lol i am a masters mercy, i no longer main her tho i main kiri and brig now
This Mercy needs to stop treating healing beam as their default beam and also trying to heal every single piece of chip damage when their co-support is right there. Damage boost more! They mostly played ok but this is a very bad habit to have especially when you're paired with a co-support who is fully capable of taking care of that chip damage and needs to in order to build their ult.
No she definitely balanced it really well this game. If her team wasn’t so random, I could see she should use blue beam more, but in dynamics where the team is….like this…playing to keep your team alive is a lot more valuable.
@@MatchaJus They were only saying to trust the other support to heal the rest of their health, and besides trusting your second support not just giving them ult faster, but also damage boosting your pocket and defaulting your damage boost and only heal them when needed can give them ults faster. That will give Mercy a lot of value.
@@MatchaJus I said she played mostly ok. Her blue beam was not "really well balanced" however, that's just lying for the sake of being nice but not helpful feedback at all. She idled on heals far too often.
that last valk i wasn’t too sure on. the only threat was the ball and he couldn’t have killed many people quickly so i don’t think that valk was the best - would’ve been better to either dmg boost purely in the last proper team fight, or contest with it if things looked tricky
Okay, this was way back in OW1 but, in gold, King's Row I had a Rein who was just like this. My fellow support had taken my main (Ana) so I'd gone Lucio to try and work with the Rein, speed him around. But he was yeeting himself into the enemy team early and often, so I switched to Bap and that was our support duo the rest of the way. We actually managed it on attack to push the payload the whole way. But on defense the enemy did the same. We're waiting for the extra rounds to start and the Reinhardt gets in VC for the first time to complain about how this team has no heals. And I will never forget this because I looked at my stats to see (remember when scoreboards weren't a thing?) and I had, I kid you not, 49k healing and it was a silver medal. So I told my Rein that. "That means between Ana and I, we've put out nearly 100,000 healing so far. There's a problem, and healing isn't it." Nothing more got said in the vc. The Rein played, I wouldn't say passively but, with restraint after that. We full held the enemy on their round and got our one tick on the first team fight on our attack. Easy W. Mostly I just wanted to say this to respond to chat about how a gold tank is never gonna change their playstyle like that. It's not true. It can happen. It's pretty memorable when it does though.
That alt at 12:00 I believe was a mistake. You can tell there like what have I done! Then trys to escape. They could do better on chip heals. However if there tank made a change sooner to play style it would be a different game.
0:42 that not an agressive Reinhardt, this is brainless dog Reinhardt. Not a thought in their head, they see red thingy, they chase red thingy. W is perma stuck too
As long as your tank can stay alive support can basically be off DPS and wipe teams. That's actually why orisa is so good rn because her cool down rotation keeps her alive more than any other tank while DPS/support can pop off
i Promise you, both supports should have went in with the tank, the situation was on the tank side all along but they decided to be cowards and stayed behind
@@KURENANI No, the tank was feeding so much they couldn’t save them even if they somehow managed to keep the heals on them the whole time. Why have the mercy sacrifice themselves to accomplish nothing? Most of the time they couldn’t even attempt it because the tank would suddenly burst around the corner. Also, there were plenty of times they went in when their were opportunities. I deal with supports who want to play from spawn all the time but this mercy is not one of them. Don’t agree with the coward statement at all.
1/4 of the time I got to ping someone it doesn't work.. I thought is was my controller but I got a brand new one nd thts still the case so I dunno wats going on 👀
The tank isnt really playing more passive, I mean he is technically but in reality what I think is going on is he had no opportunity to be passive before because he was to focused on getting value which resulted in him feeding over an over and then on attack his plays actually pay off which puts his mind at ease allowing for him to think more clearly, bascially he doesnt understand how to play his tank mains on defense as he clearly mains stuff that's hyper aggressive and hes also aware of this and is probably a doom main but goes rein to try and fix how bad he is at defense. Edit: and then he just went orisa which is the "plays itself on defense hero in gold" 😂 so yea I dont think it was the rare time communication worked in gold, it's more like this guy is an aspiring doomfist main that hates orisa and thinks shes broken so they play rein on defense because they cant play doom on defense but will go orisa when pushed against the fence when playing rein doesnt work which judging by his rein on defense, it probably doesn't work out often in gold but the guys mechanics and understanding when on attack with doom are good, just its doom and the guys got along way to go and he prob mostly plays qp where he never really needs to work on his defense and just gets his dopamine from winning when the game gives him attack or another gamemode.
At 6:15-6:40 you can see the enemy ramattra spinning and petting his teammates ✨
ahaha i love that, probably one of the best things in this game tbh
so silly
