Right? As a 15 year old I was actually able to fly on military aircraft with my father who was retired from the air Force. We were flying back from Hawaii to California on a kC10 refuelling tanker. The pilot asked if I wanted to sit in the jump seat behind the pilot...I was in aviation heaven. They were showing me the different gauges and what they were for. The military flights were the best...
This summer when I flew with westjet they let me go into the cockpit (after landing) and let me sit in the captains seat with the screens on. One of my best memories.
I just tried this today. I got a 757-300, 767-300ER, a220-300, a321NEO. After one of the flights the pilot even let me and my brother into the cockpit to look around and take pictures. All the pilots were very nice, I highly recommend trying this.
These pilots are heroes that sometimes don’t get the credit they deserve. It takes a different kind of person to be able to take hundreds if not thousands of lives into your hands and transport them safely daily. Salute to you guys
Well fuck isn’t everybody a hero these days. When did being a hero become about getting the “credit” they “deserve”? That’s not a hero, that’s a self entitled ahole. Just because it takes a special kind of person to do a job that they are paid to do doesn’t make them a hero by any means. When they start doing it solely out of the goodness in their hearts & not for how it benefits them then you can loosely throw around the term hero.
I think you need to calm down a bit with the hero stuff. By your logic bus drivers and taxi drivers are heros too. If anything driving a taxi or bus is less safe.

My father in the 90's went into the cockpit MID FLIGHT and he said it was awesome to see out the big windows and they even let him sit in the pilot's seat and hold the controls 😅 Completely different world now...
You can still sit at the controls on some airlines and some pilots are kinder than others. In the b737 its hard cause its a small cockpit unlike the a350 for example
When I was around seven years old, I got to sit up in the cockpit several times in mid-flight while crossing the Atlantic from Boston to London on the Queen of the Skies 747 ✈️ Those views!

I remember as a kid asking the stewardess how fast we were going. She went up and asked. She came back and told me the pilot would like to see me. He let me in to see the cockpit for a few minutes explaining different things and showed me the speed. I’ll never forget that.
I work as a ramp agent for delta, those pilots are usually the politest bunch of guys I’ve ever met. We occasionally find those trading cards on the ground actually when we clean the plane

Around 4 years ago i went on a trip with my grandparents and we asked if i could look at the cockpit (i loooove airplanes) and not only did they say yes, but they also let me sit in the seat, and LITERALLY PROGRAM IN THE AUTOPILOT. Like i would put in the 3-4 letter waypoint codes, there were like 15 of them or something, and it was an amazing experience. They also let me keep a bunch of the paperwork, such as the weight and balances, NOTAMs, passcodes to jet bridge doors, etc… I still have them to this day! One of the most memorable days of my entire life and i hope to never forget Edit: guys pls stop arguing, i just wanted to share a fun story i had
You didn't program the autopilot, but you loaded the route into the FMS which will automatically generate the predicted time and fuel burn to each waypoint and navigate to each one.
I used to work for delta airlines and my favorite part of my morning shifts were getting to go inside the A321s and turning them on so that the exterior doors would have power.
Funnily enough my friend in first hour works with his parents at an airport and i got to see these little cards I didn’t think much of it but seeing this video gave me a pretty wholesome vibe about them and the whole set can be pretty expensive. I guess what I’m saying is they are pretty well known among pilots and they are awsome

Nearly every airline flight I ask to see the cockpit after landing and I’ve never been denied. As long as your crew isn’t in a rush or leaving then they’ll let you usually
This brings back memories of being 9 and going in to see all the controls in the cockpit of a 747 British Airways flight. It was amazing to see out the windows. Wish they still did that.

Most airlines in the US will let you come up before/after the flight. My first time on a UA 789, the FO showed me how to work the HUD and that was at 23!

As a previous ramp agent for 7 years running flights, I can confirm this is true & fun fact, the rolls Royce 777 turbine is so strong that they had to governor the turbine or it wouldn’t be able to slow down when needed to back off of thrust. You learn alot of cool shit in Aviation.

I'm 43 years old right now but I remember when I was 6 years old, I was flying up from Florida to Massachusetts, by myself. Of course, my mother coordinated with the flight crew, that I would be alone, so they tried their best to accommodate to my needs. At one point during the flight I remember the flight attendant asking me if I'd like to come up and talk to the captain. I said sure. I actually went and sat on the captain's lap and grabbed the steering wheel of the plane and steered it. Is that crazy or what?😊😊
I asked for trading cards when we landed and one of the pilots let me sit up front in the cockpit and try out some of the controls! I was the happiest 24 year old, I felt like a little kid 😊

They cant do anything, the plane is stationary on the ground and flipping levers and pressing buttons mean nothing, when it starts to actually move is when you are not allowed to see/get inside the cockpit

I fly the Delta CRJ 700/900. I carry these cards every trip. Only ever had 1 person ask for one. Ask more so I can get rid of them!

Of course, my mother coordinated with the flight crew, that I would be alone, so they tried their best to accommodate to my needs. At one point during the flight I remember the flight attendant asking me if I'd like to come up and talk to the captain. I said sure. I actually went and sat on the captain's lap and grabbed the steering wheel of the plane and steered it. Is that crazy or what?😊😊

I asked for trading cards when we landed and one of the pilots let me sit up front in the cockpit and try out some of the controls! I was the happiest 24 year old, I felt like a little kid 😊
I thought it would be pilots,crew and ground crew baseball cards with stats. I mean planes are dope too, but show the employees off too. It would be a lot more fun.

They cant do anything, the plane is stationary on the ground and flipping levers and pressing buttons mean nothing, when it starts to actually move is when you are not allowed to see/get inside the cockpit
