Episode 34 - Air Ya Garn Derby

Derby - this place is probably one of our favourite places in Australia.
The mountain biking… the town’s vibe… the awesome people we met there…
We were supposed to only be there 3 days… and claimed several times that we “were leaving tomorrow”… but it took 11 days for us to actually leave (and then we took our whole Derby Crew with us too).
To say we are already planning our next trip there is an understatement.
We were camped up here over Christmas and were on the trails everyday. It has something to offer for every level of rider from a casual roll around the lake, an awesome pump track, flowing green trails, progressive jump trails, epic long trails and black runs for the more adventurous.
Yes the campgrounds were busy over Christmas but there always seemed to be a place for everyone turning up.
We used MTB Express for our shuttles and couldn’t recommend Terry’s service enough. He’s the only shuttle bus that offers cheaper prices for kids plus he regularly has further discounts to help the whole family be able to hit the trails. He’s a wealth of knowledge if you need some riding or trail tips and always willing to help any rider or camper. His dog Rosie was an absolute favourite thing for the kids on the bus.
Firm favourite tracks at Blue Derby were Air Ya Garn, Hazy Days, Flickity Sticks, Blue Tier and Atlas.
We honestly can’t talk up Derby enough. Even if you aren’t a confident rider (Gabbie was definitely this pre-Derby) there is something for everyone.
