Episode 58 - Heading Up The Guts Again
After a split decision in the Flinders Ranges we found ourselves heading back up the middle of Australia to Alice Springs and beyond.
Unfortunately we had a bit of time to kill as we waited for the kid’s school stuff to turn up. But luckily our stay at the Discovery Park at Alice Springs literally felt like we were on holidays. They had so many activities on plus there were the awesome waterslides.
It was such a great time for us to just slow down.
While in Alice we checked out the Reptile Centre which we had missed last time. It was great - a really small but personal experience either way the added bonus of holding so many reptiles (little did we know we’d do heaps of animal holding in the NT).
After Alice Springs it was up the road to Daly Waters. This is a pretty cool little pub especially with the pool there to cool off in.
But the elusive barramundi was calling us so we were off again in search of a million dollar fish.
As always, thanks so much for watching. We truly appreciate every view, like, subscribe and comment.
Happy adventuring!

Episode 57 - Tackling the Oodnadatta Pub Crawl Again
มุมมอง 359หลายเดือนก่อน
The Oodnadatta Track… or should we say The Oodnadatta Pub Crawl. We had done the William Creek to Maree section of the Oodnadatta only 7 months earlier and it’s crazy how different it was. The road was definitely rougher with sharper rocks (RIP car tyre), a lot of the siding ruins were fenced off as was Lake Eyre and the flies… OMG!!! This time we travelled from the Copley Hotel to William Cree...
Episode 56 - The Flinders Ranges Part 4: Arkaroola Station
มุมมอง 72หลายเดือนก่อน
Arkaroola Station - so many people rave about it but we found it quite meh. After changing the tyre (see last week’s episode) we headed off to Mt Chambers Gorge in search of some amazing rock art. Whilst the drive in was amazing the rock art wasn’t. It was super hard to find any apart from the few that looked like someone had scratched in yesterday to make up for the lack of older ones. By the ...
Episode 55 - The Flinders Ranges Part 3: Parachilna Gorge
มุมมอง 61หลายเดือนก่อน
Parachilna Gorge - filled with natural beauty, a 5 star gourmet restaurant, sharp rocks and a flat tyre. This place totally took us by surprise (in more ways than one 😂). It’s an absolutely stunning gorge with heaps of free camping on offer. And then if you head into the actual town of Parachilna you get this stark contrast between the mountainous gorge and the vast flat nothingness of beyond. ...
Episode 54 - The Flinders Ranges Part 2: Bunyeroo & Brachina Gorge
มุมมอง 72หลายเดือนก่อน
The Flinders Ranges is all about the stunning drives. In this episode we head out down Bunyeroo Road and explore Brachina Gorge. This area is your quintessential Flinders Ranges and it’s truly stunning. Winding down ridge lines, turning through the gorge and of course spotting heaps of the yellow-footed rock wallabies that are unique to this area. It’s honestly just a beautiful drive that words...
Episode 53 - The Flinders Ranges Part 1: Rawnsley Park and Wilpena Pound
มุมมอง 1152 หลายเดือนก่อน
We left Melrose and made tracks to Rawnsley Park. The more outback we got the more relaxed and happy we felt. Our plans were to use Rawnsley Park as our base to explore the Wilpena Pound section of the Flinders Ranges. Unfortunately we found out (after paying for accommodation) that the National Park section of the Flinders Ranges was due to close that night for a goat culling. So instead of ta...
Episode 52 - Is this the Best Hike in the Flinders Ranges
มุมมอง 562 หลายเดือนก่อน
Is this the best hike in the Flinders Ranges? We think it is and it’s in the southern ranges which is often completely skipped by. This adventure sees us heading to Melrose in South Australia. We opted to stay in the caravan park in town due to its proximity to the mountain biking trails plus it had an awesome little track in the dried creek bed that ran through the park. The next day we headed...
Episode 51 - Wauraltee Beach
มุมมอง 1252 หลายเดือนก่อน
Wauraltee Beach is one of these spots that people rave about - but did it live up to expectations? We were here in super hot weather which definitely made that cold Southern Ocean more relieving. However… we also timed our stay here with super strong winds. So strong in fact that we had sand blowing in our roof hatches plus had all the sand blown out from under our wheels/stabilisation legs tha...
Episode 50 - The Barossa Valley
มุมมอง 202 หลายเดือนก่อน
The Barossa Valley - amazing wines, a great free camp and a tipsy Gabbie. We are always lovers of great wine and food and we managed to fit both of those passions into our one day in the Barossa. We camped up at the oval in Greenook - this was a great free option so close to all the spots we wanted to visit. First up was Kies Winery - this was an awesome first stop with such a friendly vibe and...
Episode 49 - Rapid Bay
มุมมอง 5872 หลายเดือนก่อน
Rapid Bay - this place is gorgeous and, due to our bit of backtracking to Coonawarra and dawdling through Adelaide, we nailed the weather. Unfortunately though, despite all the hot tips, we did not nail the fishing for the first few days. Thankfully though once we decided to stop following everyone’s tips we were pulling the squid in. Whilst we were at Rapid Bay we spotted dolphins and seals pl...
Episode 48 - Food, Food and Mountain Biking
มุมมอง 603 หลายเดือนก่อน
Good old RAdelaide. We absolutely loved our time here and our $15 camp at Balhannah Oval was the perfect base for our adventures. First off it was off to Beerenberg for some tasty treats. The strawberries covered in runny chocolate were amazing and we definitely could have spent a fortune on all their products. After Beerenberg it was off to Hahndorf. We had an awesome pork knuckle and stein fo...
Episode 47 - The Limestone Coast, Caves and Cab Sav
มุมมอง 523 หลายเดือนก่อน
Our time on the Limestone Coast didn’t quite go to plan but we are so grateful for that. After finishing up at Mount Gambier we were excited for a bit of beach action but the water at South End onwards was colder than any water we’d come across. Luckily the kids were more keen to sand board than swim. At Beachport we came across one of the best fishermen co-ops out there and scored ourselves a ...
Episode 46 - Sinkholes & Snorkelling at Mount Gambier
มุมมอง 353 หลายเดือนก่อน
Mount Gambier definitely had a lot more to offer than we were expecting. On our first day we knocked off Umpherston Sinkhole, the Caves Garden, the local library plus Blue Lake. The next day we were off to do a completely unique snorkel at Ewen Ponds. We hired all the gear (including the thickest wetsuits Josh and I have ever worn) from the Allendale East General Store. The water was freezing b...
Episode 45 - The Great Ocean Road
มุมมอง 293 หลายเดือนก่อน
The Great Ocean Road - such a stunning, swiggly drive along a rugged coastline. And even better for us - we had pretty great weather for it. We first based ourselves at Anglesea as we needed a bit of R&R after so much mountain biking in Tasmania. From here we also day tripped up as far as Lorne so we could explore without the van. Then with the van on we moved up to Aire River East campground a...
Episode 44 - The Perfect End to our Tassie Adventure
มุมมอง 354 หลายเดือนก่อน
Even if we planned it, I don’t think we could have planned a more perfect end to our adventure in Tasmania. With the weather turning wild and windy on the west coast we decided to head back east. First stop… Derby for some more mountain biking. This time we scored a spot right near the pump track and shuttle buses. It was bikes straight off and hitting our favourite trails again - Hazy Days, Ai...
