Go with the Savage/Steven bead sight budget model i think it is the 320 security or something... Non pistol grip it allows more mobility, more comfortable standby holds, and fire positions. That particular gun will cycle the super short Aguilla mini-slugs with swift intentional strokes which means you can get the capacity higher than manufacturer says. If your concerned with recoil this one isnt to bad compared to single shots, bolt shotguns and even the A5 autos even though they are blowback auto loaders that are heavier. I would get the stock wrap that adds storage for 4-5 rounds of standard buck shot because the weight you add gives it weight and reduces recoil. The average female can handle it. You should be out the door even now at under $300..

Enjoyable video. I'd add a thought to consider. I personally like the concept of having multiple numbers of weapons available stashed at various convenient locations at my property. Three or four cheap but effective shotguns which are near where the action happens to break out are much better than ONE high priced top quality shotgun stored under an upstairs bed. Rather than spend $1,200 or so for a single top notch tactical shotgun, I'd prefer buying all three of the guns you featured. Home defense situations can arise quickly without warning.
It would be very beneficial to have a fully loaded shotgun with a side sleeve filled with a full reload hanging in a gun rack above my kitchen refrigerator plus another one just like it mounted below a coffee table in my den. Then one more hanging in a mattress sleeve on my upstairs bed would provide a great peace of mind. Maybe finish it off with a fourth shotgun and a few boxes of extra ammo kept right behind the door to the hidden safe room at the back of the master bathroom closet.
At 69 years old, with no kids or grandkids, I'm not worried about gun safety. If you are invited to my home, I can easily put the guns in the gun safe. Otherwise, having as many shotguns as you need fully loaded and prepositioned makes a ton of sense. I want to be able to grab an effective weapon the moment the security alarm goes off. Multiple cheap shotguns is definitely the way to go. The way I see it, you can't own too many guns nor too much ammo!

Great video! Mossberg maverick is a great budget shotgun. No question about that. I own one and love it. I wouldn't however recommend it for a first time shotgun owner, because they can be a pain in the A## to clean, take apart and put back together. I'd prob recommend a Rock island Armory or Blue Line.

I picked up a used Moss youth model 20 GA Mod.500 with a 22 inch Deer barrel capable of using chokes for 145 dollars! went out and bought a 18" in security barrel, and a 26" in Bird hunting barrel. all this for 305.00 dollars! now i can go hunting as well as home defense and its light shooting 20 Ga is the real Plus and if i feel the need for 12 Ga power I can use 20 Ga 3" shells.
Seeing your ATI stock I Will have to get this for it... I hope it fits 20 Ga Mossbergs Thanks for the video.jim

Great info for people new to home protection. I think every house should have a good shot gun in it.
You didn't mention bird shot or nick shot though. For me, I do have neighbors very close by so I'll make due with the bird shot in the mag, buck shot in the carrier. Inside of 20 feet bird shot is still really tightly grouped and will make a big hole.

Was leaning more towards a .410 for home defense, anything in the Home will be pretty much close contact . Also easily used by wife or teens if need be.

Looking for what shotgun would be best for home defense I just had someone try to hop over my fence I shot him with a pellet air rifle from my backyard my room isn't connected to the house but hearing my gate move around alerted me I live by stores like safeway and big lots literally across the street with 3 other liquor stores its a active neighborhood for home invasions at night and just a hour or 2 ago I heard a couple of shots from a pistol go off not that far away if I could guess it was atleast 5 to 6 houses down but anyways I did land a pellet in the guys leg I wasn't aiming for anything too bad just enough to hurt him and scare him away but it worked he got off my gate and ran away I talked to my gf and asked if she'd be okay with me getting a fire arm for home defense and we made a agreement for a shotgun so here I am now looking for a shotgun so what type of shotgun do you think is best for a tight pellet spread for distance and accurate that is very affordable

Good video ! I think the 20 gauge is perfect for those recoil sensitive ( men or women ) . Shotguns are hands down the best home defense gun going … as I like to say “ thugs don’t fight through shotgun hits , they either die or die trying to get out of the house !

Shotgun first was probably a good idea, but as far as a pistol goes, for under $200. I used to hate on Hi-Point until I watched a bunch of videos of guys trying to destroy one. They are shockingly reliable, resilient, and accurate

@@GaugeReality i was listening to a person doing a video on home defense guns and he said a shotgun was not a gun for home defense. He even said it was not effective as to do any damage to some one . My opinion he does not know much abou.t a shotgun. And he is talking very stupid . If some one open s .y door and I shoot them in the face or their chest with 00 buck or a slightly are going down and it s over for them . What I can say abku.t him is he is talking very stupid and does not understand what a shoot gun can do .

    • @GaugeReality

@@rickeybullington6314 thanks for watching the video. Every year there's a Home invasion with bad guys breaking in to homes and homeowners using shotguns to protect them and their family members. Its proof that shotguns are a worthy option of home defense. But everyone situation is different the person you was watching may not believe that shotguns are a good form of home defense because it may not work for their situation. In the video the example I gave of my friend who was not knowledgeable of firearms and was debating on getting a cheap inexpensive handgun. that’s a good way for someone to get a suitable shotgun for the same price and learn the operations of that firearm. Its a gateway for individuals in the same situation to build their confidence to get into rifles and handguns. The big picture is that we have the independence and the freedom to select whatever fire or that's gonna work for you and your family. But the only way to do that is by actually getting out purchasing a firearm shooting it and learning it. if you can afford to get some training from a reputable instructor that should be the first step.
