What a treat, 3 of our most favourite You-Tubers, Chris, Matt and Sam, and the fabulously clever Clint gets a mention too. And the machine- what can we say. Thankyou from us here is Australia! #letsdig18 #scrappyindustries #dieselcreek #c&c equipment
I remember seeing these when the developers were building our neighborhood back in the 60's. The smell of grease & oil from 30 feet away, will be forever burned in my memory.
I remember the custom home builder using one of these to dig the basement for a new 1800 sq. foot home, next door to my home, in about 1968 or 69 up in Garden City, Michigan (suburb of Detroit.) It was the coolest thing watching them work for hours. Thanks for bringing back the memories, Chris.
❤ I spent many hours in a shovel in the '70's But it was a 1959. One thing my supervisor said, "Keep the end of the stick lower than the cabin!" I made the mistake and blew the windows out one day. Because the stick hit the roof of the cabin. Yep, it wasn't below the cabin. It scared the HELL out of me!
She may not be steam, but you just have to call her Mary Ann🤣. Soon you won't need to bring any of your commercial machines home, you'll have all you need here!😁You looked like you were having a blast. Nice purchase, Chris and thanks for sharing with us.
Love it - the fun of many future hours playing in the dirt. Things will never change. Good friends Diesel Creek and Scrappy Industries. So happy for you LetsDig18.
Nice machine Chris, and that little Cummins sounds sweet! Very happy to see that you, Sam, Matt and Clint are saving as much old iron as you can. Without interest from young fellows your age, iron that guys my age ran would be cut for scrap. Thank you!
Awesome! It's nice to see the old equipment being used and appreciated. Enjoy the new toy Chris,it found itself a good home. Take care and God Bless!!!❤😊
Your toy box is filling up nicely. I'm sure Matt and Scrappy will find more old equipment that you didn't know you need. I would love to own some cable operated equipment, it brings back memories of operating cranes in the late seventies.
OUGHT TO BE SHAMED OF HIMSELF THAT THINGS NEEDS TO BE Run ACROSS THE SCALE QUICK FAST AN IN A HURRY WHO DOES THAT BUY AN OLD JUNKER LIKE THAT AN THINK THEY BE DOING SOMETHING BIG🎉
Wow, what a great addition to what looks to be the beginnings of a very nice collection of old machinery. Congratulations. I am really glad to see you and a few others really interested in keeping some of these old machines out of the scrap pile. And even better when they run. Thanks
Very cool piece of dirt moving history ...it puts life in perspective as I was 10 years old already when this was made...I feel I have aged a little better as this Shovel looks like a 1950's vintage!
What an ancient pile of awesomeness that is! One year younger than me, but still in much better shape, loving it and hope to see it in proper use soon 👌
Great to see Sam, you got yourself a gem there young man, going to look forward to seeing you tinker around with it on the farm. Great find, enjoy the toy, thanks for the video.
i am in my 80,s now but used to work on these shovels & bigger, as a mechanic in the 70,s in africa. regards the latch bar on the bucket, you are correct. you need a stop bar, also shims to adjust the depth of penetration in the latch. also ,every morning before start of operations, i would take portable welder & run a few beads on the tip of latch bar as during operation it wears round & the door wont latch properly. love your channel, cheers from australia.
I'm subscribed to both guys and it's a treat to see you all together. It's great that you guys are preserving old machinery and bring them back to working condition.
My grandfather from West Virginia was a shovel operator and mine owner. This reminds me of seeing him mine coal with a shovel. I do not remember the details much 50 years makes stuff fade away. Good luck with her.
Chris is creating his own heavy equipment museum... between this, the dragline.. Betty.. even the D7 are all pre 1980's equipment (now I feel old.... Betty was built/ sold the year I was born)..
I have been watching Sam at "Scrappy industries"TH-cam channel for a couple years now.. He's a very talented young man.. I heard about him through Matt at Diesel Creek.. Congratulations Chris on your Shiny new penny.. you'll have a fleet of them in a few years.. Doug in Ohio
Congratulations, my friend. What an amazing piece of machinery to add to the collection. You definitely deserve it. You've been killing it, so kudos to you, my friend, and I hope you enjoy
A special Loader come of the Farm and bring You a Cable Shovel, what good run and Work! This and Your Dragline is a Perfect Chronologie from the Progress the to Industrialize the last Hundred Years. A very good Shop!! It is to see how You have a Fun. Thanks for this Video.
Big boys and their big boy toys. A bit of fact according to my Mom was. Men grow old but we never really grow up. Inside us somewhere is a little boy tryin' real hard to get out and play with some toys. Chris's are big and mechanical antique in nature. Nice to see Mr. Scrappy delivery Cris's new toy.
Chris, you got the feel of it very quickly !! Every machine is different. When you get all your machines at home one day, you should line them up for a show. Greetings from Australia
I love it when my favorite TH-camr's collaborate on a project !!! I watch all of Sam's videos also and I look forward on seeing this old Iron being picked up and readied for you! Great Job guys!!!
Nice Army surplus machine. Rear of operator small round plug known as a "slave cable receptical" to jump start if battery was dead. Also the camo and rust paint job leads me to believe it came from the Ft Drum NY area. We had one just like it in the early 80's while I was in the 76th Engineer Battalion at Drum we used it in the quarry where we got trap rock for the roads down range. Really in great shape. enjoy!!
It's always great to see operators with a passion for their machines and their history and development and want to preserve it for future generations. Keep up the good work all you boys with toys. As you have a `Betty' and a `Barney' this is shovel has got to be `Wilma' as she's too good looking to be a `Fred'.
My Dad was the head of the Northweest Service and Training Deptrtmant from 1958 thru 2010. I rember when that crane was built and they built several on a government Contract as a Shovel that was NEVER a Crane!
In 1970 there was a lot of issues with the hydraulics on the 1 yard and bigger hoes.. Especially digging rock and heavy clay. I worked for a company that still had 3 22Bs They also had a one yard hydraulic Koering. In heavy digging they used the 22Bs.
I'm as crazy about the old iron as Chris is, this one brings back memories from the 1970's when I worked in a oil refinery and there was a Buck-eye crane that was often used. Sweet sound just like Chris's new toy.
I'll bet if there are any ole timers who actually ran these machines watching, they'd be smiling away and saying "Yup, yup, I remember my first time at trying to make that machine work."
Chris, adds a new toy to his collection. Check out David McCullough’s book on building the Panama Canal. Bucyrus Erie were the shovels that dug the canal.
Welcome to North Carolina Sam, you definitely have some miles for your log book. Chris has a new toy for the July 4th holiday. What a network of friends, Scrappy Industries, Diesel Creek, C&C Equipment, Dirt Perfect, Kyle & Robert.
Nice find. Mike Ferguson of Edgerton Wis has a military 22B just like that. He also has a 41B Bucyrus steam dragline. The 41B will be running Labor Day weekend at the Rock River Thresseree show.
Wow ! Chris that ol machine runs great! And looked awsome on that lowboy of scrappy's was he in his puppy dog or the ford ? Both a swewt rides! Cant wait tell charle and donnie both see it! That would look great on donnies truck inna parade!
Hello Chris, your right, this old stuff is your hobby. You were also right when you said Scrappy needed to track back and then into the pile. Then you had a turn and were having so much fun, you didn't move the tracks at all, just two old boys having fun!
Every time I see anything on a cable shovel, I can't help but remember Mike Mulligan and his steam shovel
I think you need to get Kevin from C&C Equipment to come over and paint this old girl
Dittos❤
Yes! C&C's Kevin does a nice paint job.. that would be a neat part of restoration.
Once the cabin is finished Chris you can have a heavy equipment theme park for grown-ups
Excellent idea.
He could charge more.
Too far from Finland though 😅
Heck Yea !!
I'd go for sure
Chris add several more old machines and you have another business
I remember seeing these when the developers were building our neighborhood back in the 60's. The smell of grease & oil from 30 feet away, will be forever burned in my memory.

That runs so sweet it got to be worth a paint job to preserve it.
Clear coat over patina!!❤️😁🍀
Why don’t you have Kevin from C&C EQUIPMENT put a coat of fresh paint on it.
That's the original paint job that's still on it, its MERDEC Winter Verdant. I've never seen a shovel in camouflage before.
Now you done it, DP is going to want one now
A boy and his toys. You crack me up Chris. Enjoy!!!!
A quote from my dad when I was a kid… the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys!

Great to see collaboration videos.

his home will need to be called the old Iron homestead
That’s what built America and its still going 👍👍👍👍👍
Love it - the fun of many future hours playing in the dirt. Things will never change. Good friends Diesel Creek and Scrappy Industries. So happy for you LetsDig18.
So we need a series of you digging a large pond with just the old iron.
Nice machine Chris, and that little Cummins sounds sweet! Very happy to see that you, Sam, Matt and Clint are saving as much old iron as you can. Without interest from young fellows your age, iron that guys my age ran would be cut for scrap. Thank you!
Maybe include DP in that.
Cool, I love these guys you should name this one Mary Ann from the childrens book Mike Mulligan and Mary Ann
Awesome! It's nice to see the old equipment being used and appreciated. Enjoy the new toy Chris,it found itself a good home. Take care and God Bless!!!❤😊

good to see Sam over here I remember the Ohio trip with Matt

Fantastic to see why sam was doing all the work to the ford rig. Awesome to see the old iron still play running.
So cool. My grandfather was a mechanic on these rigs. He use to follow road construction job’s all over the country building interstates.
Always exciting when Chris gets a new Toy.

That cable shovel is a piece of history! Kudos to Diesel Creek and Scrappy Industries for saving it from the scrapyard! 👏

May be the first time I found the "rust patina" to be beautiful. Perfect size too.

Congrats on the new toy . Thanks to Sam and Diesel Creek for making it happen.

That has got to be the best camo paint job I've ever seen.
Urban junkyard camo!! 😂😂.
It wouldn’t take too much to give its sandblast, prime and then paint it army green again.
I live in Evansville Indiana. We had one of the olddest and largest Buecyrus Erie plant here in town.
That's a great way to turn over your topsoil stockpile and have fun!

Your tree is looking great!
Well, at the very least you can make Mike (DP) jealous with it.
Cool machine !!! Hope you put some paint to it or at least some clear coat to stop the rust. 😎

That d be cool to have Kevin from C and C come down and give it some new paint
Hey Chris i drove one just like that one with no rust when i was 15 its great to see know i am 76 have fun
Get the stick to come further back and get the house closer to the pile. Been a few years since I ran one, 40 or so.
Could imagine digging tree stumps out or clearing a forest with that?! I see it’s missing the Thumb option! 🤣. Very cool purchase!
Now that is a beauty bro and big thanks to Sam and Matt too. Will watch out for Sam's video of it. Safe travels. Ken.
