2:30 that's actually not quite true. All of these islands are written and pronounced with the "s" in Greek, just only in the nominative case. A few summers ago, my wife and I spent a very pleasant four days in Hydra. Since we grew up with Leonard Cohen, for us this was "his island" so to speak. We went to his home in upper Hydra but it was closed. We also spent a little time in the Pirate Bar/Cafe in the harbor which he frequented. He lived in Hydra with Marianne Ihlen who inspired him to write "So Long Marianne". For anyone interested in this period on Hydra I recommend the book edited by Helle G. Goldman "When We Were Almost Young". Also, I would highly recommend taking the full day boat sail around the island. The captain gave a nice explanation of the island as we sailed completely around it. We anchored in a few coves and had some lovely swims and the crew prepared a lovely fish lunch. Great day.

Along with the islands having different names, Greece itself is Hellas to them. Great to make a vicarious trip back to the country. Great job as usual.

Hi Gabriel, It's a tough grind to get around but you get a chance to see what the island offers in terms of food and beaches. The island has a rocky terrain and is very hilly similar to some of the other islands a big reason for the mules. There are so many islands to visit they all seem so peaceful most people from these locations are very laid back and these islands come alive during tourist invasions otherwise their extremely quiet.
The sun of Apollo god is part of the exhibition of American artist Jeff Koons whoch is being held at the old Slaughter house. Such a beautiful small traditional island, totally different than the Aegean and Ionian islands! I am heading there in less than a week😊
The terminal s is omitted when you are using a proposition such as I went to Paros, but the rule differs when are you saying for instance I like Paros.
Gabriel it is the conjugation of verbs in Greek language, that eliminates the ending -s. It is Amorgos in nominative case but when using the word in accusative is Amorgo.
No Gabriel, we pronounce the s at the end when speaking in the nominative and vocative case, but the s goes away in the accusative case. eg: in the nominative "Naxos", in the general case "Naxou", in the accusative "Naxo" and the vocative "Naxos". I know the Greek language is difficult, but it has dynamics and describes exactly everything.

Hey Gabriel, thank you so much for these videos! I am planning a trip there in September and these are helping a lot. In my program I would like to spend 3 days in Hydra and 3 in Spetses, would that be enough to relax and do some hiking?
The "s" in the end of names is only pronounced in nominative. In accusative/dative/ablative, the final "s" gets removed. So for example: "Αυτή είναι η Τήνος (This is Tinos)" BUT "Πάω στην Τήνο (i'm going to Τinos)". The reason you get justifiably confused is because in English there is no real difference between the cases, as there is in Greek.
You deserve to live there Big Gabe. Why would you leave those islands? Is there a way you can live off your youtube royalties full time? I’m sure you can dial down an affordable spot full time. That place is literally like your personal playground.
I make a living from youtube so that isn't a problem, but there's the issue of the 90 days limit in the Schengen zone of Europe. Only 90 days allowed in all of western Europe and I want to visit other countries this summer. Plus the fact I just like to hop around and experience different places.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos yeah life in the states is so different. As smart as you are there’s literally no way you can get stuck in the nationalism of the USA…things will always inherently improve yet America violently sucked everyone into its conformity for the military pharmaceutical industrial complex, and there were always those like you who chose to think for yourself. There’s no one else as persistent as you, a modern global Jesus from the Cali hills! Unreal dude 🙏💪🔥🙌
@@GabrielTravelerVideos and wouldnt it also be that your audience expects international content or content from various different places around the world? I remember you saying that if you stay home for too long with your family and friends your views on youtube tend to go down which may be a problem as well. So moving around like this from country to country has become like a job for you in order to sustain the channel/views. What could be a solution to this? What if you decide to get a house someplace nice and make videos about your life there or from your home in california? Something like Jonna Jinton does, she very rarely travels. Her content is mostly about her life in the north of sweden with her dog, husband, family, friends and doing artistic things. But the thing is her audience expects such content and wants it. There are many other youtubers doing similar things, get a place somewhere and make videos about what its like to be there. Have you considered such a change in your youtube work/content in order to life a different kind of life? Could that be doable or how?
Would you say Greece is your favorite country? It seems to be on your top 3 atleast. Thanks for giving your audience such great travel ideas! Now I'm considering buying a bike and going to random greek islands 😅
I rode a donkey up to the monastery but my butt couldn’t stay on without slipping. I dismissed the donkey and decided to hike up! Hydra is small but quite pretty!
Gabriel hello, The nouns in Greek are conjugated also so if nominative case is used then we add an S at the end of tge word,if possessive case then we drop S at the end. That's why sometimes we pronounce the S at the end like Paros,Naxos etc and other times when we say 'of Paros' we drop the S. Keep on traveling!!!!
I'm surprised (and relieved) that your bike wasn't impounded, immobilized or otherwise tampered with by authorities while you were away from it. That friendly lenient police officer you met upon your arrival may not always be the one on duty!
As long as he was away from site downtown it's fine. We Greeks are not paranoid with law, We practice some times common sense. Every video i watch, im feeling like im on vacation. So awesome. And i have a question. Why is it we never see a trip from you to Africa (excl. Northern Africa). Keep on doing good vlogs man. Cheerz
I thought the 's' on the end of names like Naxos, Tinos etc were the endings in the nominative case, i.e. when they are the subject of the sentence. They will take different endings depending on their function in the sentence. So, for example if a Greek speaker were to talk about the beauty of Naxos, the word Naxos would become 'Naxou'. I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.
Greece is different - like nowhere else....you said it buddy - reminiscing about the times when you were on 10 euro a day budget, back in the day.....30 euro's for dinner .....you earned it buddy...🙂

A blessed good day sir Gabe Nice beautiful 🤩 Island of Hydra in Greece 🇬🇷😍 I love this beautiful trails, lovely wonderful ,Roads, and walking trails so Quiet Place 😍 Very Relaxing Island, and Nice Bicycle Ride, thank u so much sir Gabe for your wonderful walk around Bicycle Ride tour Stay safe and Godbless from the Philippines 🇵🇭 sir Marvin 👏👏👏👏🙏🙂👍❤️
I see you have passed several large vehicles. I have visited Hydra and was told only fire engines and ambulances allowed. Beautiful peaceful island.
Now I'm getting an appetite for horiatiki (the standard greek salad).
Gabriel, how come you never do livestreams?
Thank you 😊🥰
❤ thanks so much for correctly pronounce the names, and educating us. 🎉 saludos
man you balling gabe.. i've been traveling around for about $25 a day
Whereabouts?
Would you say Greece is your favorite country? It seems to be on your top 3 atleast. Thanks for giving your audience such great travel ideas! Now I'm considering buying a bike and going to random greek islands 😅

as always great music. welcome to your ithaka gabriel.
I rode a donkey up to the monastery but my butt couldn’t stay on without slipping. I dismissed the donkey and decided to hike up! Hydra is small but quite pretty!
Gabriel hello,
The nouns in Greek are conjugated also so if nominative case is used then we add an S at the end of tge word,if possessive case then we drop S at the end. That's why sometimes we pronounce the S at the end like Paros,Naxos etc and other times when we say 'of Paros' we drop the S.
Keep on traveling!!!!
I can't believe how gigantic Hydra is!
I think people would probably need a month there. Lol 😅
I'm wondering if those cement platforms with the holes are inspection sites for the waste pumping pipes.
Congrats looks like you found the sewage treatment plant of Hydra 😎
Or the non treated sewage,
I dare you to swim there.
You had to be wondering, with the every pedal push, if somebody was going to stop you. I was anxious just watching.
Although this most of the times is being taken advantage of and creates a bit of a chaotic society and a bit of over relaxed sensation in some cases where we shouldn't be over relaxed..
How many people have been influenced by Gabriel to go to the Greek isles? If they're smart, the Greek authorities should let him use the bike.
Fascinating Island! Wonder if you can hike the longest trail and camp, Was there any restrictions ?
WOW Beautyfull HYDRA!
If ‘Tinos’ becomes ‘Tinou’ when you say ‘In Tinou’, I suppose that would be the prepositional case which you use for location.
τήλος. στην Τήλο. ομορφιά της Τήλου.
Yes it’s definitely case related. So they do end in ‘s’ in nominative case.
@@RovexHD Thank you that's interesting.
Greece is different - like nowhere else....you said it buddy - reminiscing about the times when you were on 10 euro a day budget, back in the day.....30 euro's for dinner .....you earned it buddy...🙂
