Thank you!! What exactly did I start? :p If it's the concept of chiptune covers of metal music - it was already all the rage back then, but they were really crappy MIDI conversions with little effort put into it so I decided to do something arguably better lol. Thanks for still tuning in
I honestly never leave comments, but i feel compelled to let you guys know that your art is truly inspiring. I just lost the love of my life and at rock bottom i soĺd most of my studio gear and as if things couldn't get any worse the last to guitars I had were stolen. Anyway seeing you two and what you've accomplished is so damned endearing, and you alls style is my flavorite. For some reason, you guys helped me feel hope again. Thank you for the inspiration.
Uh...wow. This is, by FAR, the best retro-styled interpretation of a non-video game song I think I've ever heard. The melodies that you've added in to accentuate the rhythms really make this stand out. I'm mad that I'm only just discovering it now in 2024, haha.
I'm amazed at the positive feedback, and ashamed of having dropped this youtube account for so long, only to return to find these awesome comments. I don't know if I'm making more of these, but I'm definitely considering ;) Stay tuned, people? Peace!
Seeing the artwork makes me thing of a sidescrolling vectorman style game where you play as Jens and Fredrik and you slay the copulating snake creatures of hell with line9 cabinet powerups and bladed guitar swords and mortal kombat style blood. HOLY SHIT, thats a game i would play!
ive looked up 8bit metal covers for quite a while now HOW WAS THIS NOT RECOMMENDED TO ME EVER? i love you and i hate youtube... but at the same time, i wouldnt be here without it
Years and years later I still come back, you did such a good job! With it being a mixture of songs and the notes and timing being different but so familiar makes this a song worth going down in history!
The entire thing is awesome but Rational Gaze part... Man what happens at 1:36 is really something special. Original song (masterpiece already) transcends into whole new level of beauty.
Man, I stumbled across this video 10 years ago, but I didn't really care much for it. I guess my ears weren't ready for these wicked rhythms back then. I'm really glad I stubbed my toe on this gold brick again. Meshuggah tunes sound absolutely magnificent as dark synth! Makes me wish for an entire album done in this style.
Splendidly done! I'm a Meshuggah fan, through and through, and I think I can say that this does proper justice to their music. You should mix more of their songs. They have quite a few technical ones to offer as you've shown us here.
man.. this is the most amazing remix ever.. you should really make a whole set of remixes for a bunch of meshuggahs songs.. this is a complete eargasm. amazing job
Hey, I took a listen to it and I have to admit the resemblance is very uncanny, but I'd think it's because they were referencing Meshuggah directly instead of my little cover track here! ^^ Thanks for introducing me to a great and interesting band!
@@HeadshockProductions haha cool, well you never know. Knower are indeed amazing and I wouldn't be surprised if your classic cover had appeared on their feed somehow. Congrats again on your timeless tune!
@@legatrix Thank you so much!! I keep getting surprised by the positivity this upload has brought to people for a decade and a half now :O I no longer compose under the name of Headshock, but I'm still somewhat active - I just miss a good social music website like back in the day with 8bc.org or last.fm and such. Soundcloud ain't it either ^^;
You (uploader) said in the description that you were not statisfied about the solo part. But I think this totally fits the song, it's a very retro-ish typical high pitch 16-bit tune. Sounds awesome!
Had to listen to this again after just having a Mega Drive sesh...Sonic Spinball to be exact and MY GOD is this so authentic! That dark sounding bass wave...the drums...It's as if my Mega Drive itself is playing my Meshuggah album. :-)
Holy fuck people, can't the song vary in a little way? It adds something to the song. If an artist were to emulate the entire song all the time, sure it shows consistency, but it also shows talent, skill and a higher degree of musicianship.
Wo-hahaha-ow! This is creepily awesome!. If I was playing a Sega game and this music came up, I'd think to myself "I'm never getting past THIS fuckin' level."
Dude more MORE! One thing I remember from my childhood is enjoying the music Megadrive games had...So unique! The part my SNES is shit at: Music and sounds were never as good. Cool spot for example, had on both systems...Megadrive music was superior!
That would be the soundtrack for the final boss battle of Sonic the Hedgehog X. Dr. Robotnik is possessed by an evil alien entity, and a battle ensues inside the Death Egg while it's crossing the galaxy by means of a wormhole that leads to hell.
My man you were 13 years ahead of the rest of humanity
This might be what started it all, this was before it's time

The fact that this doesn't have more views is criminal.
.75x goes crazy on some of these sections
14 years later I still keep coming back to this from time to time
It is so unique and amazing ! Wish there were more meshuggah tracks in this style

Still checking back here for a part 2. No other chiptune style Meshuggah style covers I've seen hit quite as hard as this. Truly an underrated gem.
This is amazing. Please come back

+M Luminoth YES! The final boss would be the guy from the Obzen cover.
Donald Record or the album cover from Koloss
I was thinking about the snakes too!!!
@@DonaldRecord His main attack would be beams in the shape of 6 out of his hands.
That would be rad.
First impression in the year 2023 and good god this is awesome. I'm typing this out barely even two minutes in.

This is seriously a one-of-a-kind sound. Killer. Way ahead of its time.
This is AWESOME, possibly the best Meshuggah reinterpratation I've heard
The entire thing is awesome but Rational Gaze part... Man what happens at 1:36 is really something special. Original song (masterpiece already) transcends into whole new level of beauty.
I WANT THE WHOLE MESHUGGAH DISCOGRAPHY DONE LIKE THIS. YEEEEAAAAAH.
yes. what he said. do this.
holy shit this is atmospheric as hell. 13 year old gem 🙏
Everything down to the cover art A1 🔥🔥🔥 cure for my unrest 👽
I found this about three years ago and I still love it.
Same here, and I never even heard the original song
This is the greatest thing I've ever heard.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!! MESHUGGAH AND SONIC STYLE!! FUCKING BADASS!!

See my comment too
This is still one of my absolute favourite pieces. Absolutely ADORE this.
Meshuggah does what OtherBandsDon't.
Blast Processing!
This is really good. Never heard a chiptune metal peace that was this good. Sega had such awesome synths!
I have goosebumps. This is beautifully heavy. As a Sega fan and Meshuggah lover I say... great fucking job.
Only just discovered this, Holy hell this is amazing!! I'd listen to a whole album of this!!

Seggah Meshudrive
The beginning reminds me of Deus Ex.
This is awesome - fortunate that this showed up in my recs after all the recent video game soundfont content
Wicked.
I've loved this rendition for years and now all these years later, I've made this the background music for my MEGA SD. Its perfect!
It's been a decade and I still love this and listen to it.
I want more. I actually find this as good as the Meshuggah songs themselves.
man.. this is the most amazing remix ever.. you should really make a whole set of remixes for a bunch of meshuggahs songs.. this is a complete eargasm. amazing job
shit goes hard af
This is VERY authentic! I literally can picture this fitting into many a title on the Megadrive in the day...Love this!
So much thought put into it!
Just bought new Knower album, it seems they have paid homage to this around 2:10 of Do Hot Girls Like Chords!

This music sounds like it could accompany a boss battle in Metroid Prime.
Late post, but we are so much on the same level. Thank you :D

this is beyond awesome
unbelievably f*cking amazing. you rule.
Fucking lovely, man. A refreshing way to enjoy this beautiful music
Amazing, I love the sound of a Yamaha YM2612, just great when used properly, had more character than SNES's wavetable.

This is like a higher fidelity version of Norrin Radd's Anomaly.
Music is awesome! Sounds like something from deus ex but with that nostalgic factor of gritty sonic music.

@dakoide yeah the "rational gaze" part of it is reaaaaally good
