Then why not add an limited slip differential, 4 wheel drive, traction control and such like? Because the challenge is to make best use what they are allowed to use, not to make the most capable off road vehicles.
That's not what this is about. These vehicles are deliberately limited and therefore have limitations that other, dedicated off road vehicles do not. The same way you don't put specialised rally cars in typical off road events, and why Jeeps and Land-rovers don't compete in rally events.
If one of these rolls over in a hurry a helmet isn't going to help. Your neck and upper body are going to be sandwiched between the upturned car and the ground. Fighter pilots and stunt flyers used to wear cloth or leather skull caps. Some still do, because a modern helmet won't save you if you and your aircraft hit the ground at 200mph plus. 😂
If there was no other type of motorsport to choose from...maybe. but given the vast selection to take interest in this ain't it. Other then that it's probably cheap as hell to get started I can't see why anyone would get into this lol but with that being said respect to anyone that does like it I just can't wrap my head around the fact that this many people do this lol
You can say the same about almost any sport or hobby, including the ones you like. Who wants to spend a weekend dangling a fishing line in the local pond? Who wants to spend time playing card games, darts or snooker? Who wants to lift huge weights or be punched in a boxing ring? Who wants to spend months creating a sculpture or writing a book? This is as technically challenging as any other sport, and you don't need a multi million pound race circuit to do it, you don't need vast amounts of money and it's something that you can do at any age. But it does take patience and skill.
Do you pay for the environmental damage you do in your own garden or land that you own? Race tracks typically cover huge areas in concrete and asphalt. Iice rinks and football fields cover huge areas, as do swimming pools and other sporting venues. They all typically take place on privately owned land, just like motor trials. 🙄
Love to see how well those puppies do on the Pismo Dunes! Those Sporting Trial Buggies look fun as hell to drive!
Great commentary Phil! Finally a motorsport that I could see myself taking an interest in.
This is one of the places Lotus got started and these cars are the grandfather's of the Lotus/Caterham 7's
Good job folks. Great little video.
A link to the specifications would be handy
And an explanation of British terminology .
This looks like a BLAST
Watched my first trials recently, quite enjoyable
Finesse it up ,down and around . Not beating it to death .
Can you put the two hand brakes on a single push/pull lever ?
Interesting, thanks for sharing.
This is where Colin Chapman got started .( LOTUS )
Rules:
-must be open diff
-no 4wd
-only street tires
-driver must be over 68
-organized in a secret fb group
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍🇮🇩
Кто знает , как называются эти машинки и где их выпускают ?
sporting trial cars
Beyond the concept of a Detroit dinosaur cultural . COOL
Surely putting some tires with better tread on would help surely?

I would like to see such trail car competing in an "normal" offroad event, again typical production offroad cars

Those crazy Brits who think that a cloth cap can replace a crash helmet!
...and no safety tie!

Looks like they had a struggle at first.

do the participants pay for all the environmental damage???
They own the land.
