I have a beautiful 98 Lincoln Mark 8 with 101,000 miles, and it is one incredible car.
It had 74k on it when I bought it 3 years ago, garage kept, 2 owner, black exterior and
tan interior. In more than my opinion, this is the best car Lincoln ever made.

This is beautiful. Growing up my dad had a 97 Black on Black LSC with those same chrome wheels. I. Loved. That. Car. We had many cars growing up, but that car was truly one of my favs. We even had a SL 500 Mercedes... I liked the Mark 8 more. The look, the technology... it was soooo ahead of its time. Not all Mark 8’s were LCS’s either. The 1st gen Mark 8’s 93-96 had car phones as an option. The 97 - 98’s had an optional built in cell phone, you could unplug and take around with you like you do your cell phone now. Also, the 1st gens did have HID’s an option. We had a family friend with one! Lincoln should totally bring this car back with AWD as an option!

I mean, the power is really not there, those old 4-speeds really show the age of the car. Mechanically the car is quite simple, and you can tell interiors have got a lot better, the switchgear was pretty much thrown around with the same care as airplane crash debris. While Anthony was showing the car he was having trouble with operating the climate controls because they were just laid out in no sensible way and directly behind the shift lever. Also single zone climate and manual wipers are pretty low-spec even for 1997.

Look at all the great luxury cars by German, American, Japanese, Korean, Swedish manufactures. They all have big horsepower engines. Yet you say power and luxury are separate entities? Dude get me some of what you are smoking.

I had a black ‘97 Thunderbird (my first NEW car) and it had several similarities as this Mark VIII does. These were the last of big heavy coupes.... truly a category of their own! The wrap-around dash, the rounded hoods and sleek light designs were all in good taste of what a Lincoln and Ford knew would capture buyers. I loved my ‘97 Thunderbird and yet always wanted the Mark VIII. I remember when this model came out and it was at the Houston Car Show.... I couldn’t stay away from it!!!! Beautiful car!!!

Not only is the outside of this car gorgeous, but the interior is simply breathtaking. Look at the quality and the extent and amount of leather and carpeting and beautiful finishes and compare that to what you see in most cars today. Recently I saw a review of a 2020 Ford Escape with a price tag of just under $40,000. The reviewer opened the door on the passenger side and looking inside the car from there, all one could see was gray, molded plastic. Yes, I said $40,000.

The air suspension on the XIII did more than give a great ride. At higher speeds the suspension would lower to improve aerodynamics. I hate it when conversions are done. The bags themselves aren't any more expensive than struts.

    • @specialtymotorcars

I had a black 98. Mostly like it. It was fast. And drove great on the highway on the Michelin Symmetries. However, the air bags leaked. Steering wheel was motorized tilt and telescope and eventually started to fail. Plastic gears. When I got it where I liked it I never moved it again. Blend door was broken when I was buying it, dealer fixed before sale. Heard that was normally an $800 repair. A lincoln special. My Town Car had that fail too. If doors are frozen shut the door handles will break right off with any sort of pulling. You need to lift the handle, then stick your fingers into the door jamb and pull that way. When I had mine the HID bulbs were going out and they were not cheap! But put out beautiful light. Rear third light collects moisture and will fail if you don't drill a couple holes in the bottom to let water drain out. If you do it in time, it should last a very long time. I got rid of it before problems started to add up. But I enjoyed the road trips I took it on. I will say however I also owned a 94 V8 thunderbird at the same time and liked that car more. A lot more. Not as fast, but the independent rear on the tbird far out drove the Lincoln, which I suppose it should have.

Anthony I just have no words when I saw this picture of the posting on this car even before I saw the video. This is the ultimate car that I have ever ever wanted! The color the wheels and you can tell they were from the west coast or south cause in the northern winters the salt just ruined these wheels as they corroded and peeled the chrome did in the bad winter areas. The interior color the options the just everything on this car I am in love with. Now Anthony you see why I love the LSC model of these cars. Even the earlier LSC's were awesome. This 32 valve v/8 is awesome had that motor in my 2001 Lincoln Continental had great power and acceleration. The options are just as I want on this car and I get goosebumps when just looking at the video and talking about this car. This car will be gone fast!!!! It is probably sold even as I write this! I just don't understand why they quit making this model Lincoln. I do think in the years to come they will bring it back in some form like they do other models of yesteryear. I just know if this was mine it would be with me to my grave!! I would only have that out on dry days and nights only. The flaws are minimal to me. I probably would get the rubber molding replaced on the back window as they went bad on the Cougars T-Birds too. It is from excessive heat that makes them curl like that. The bumpers I might down the road have them professionally repainted. But me a single guy at 61 years old this is the ultimate car to me Anthony that you have ever had on your page that really just says this is you Steve and makes me melt!!! I just have no words this car is superb in just every way!!! Thanks for Sharing Anthony and you said to me that this one on deck would be the one and you are so right!!!!!

Man, this is making me miss the best car I ever owned - i had the last model year. A 98' Lincoln Mark VIII LSC - which I bought in 2000. it was Pearl white with grey interior with same wheels as above, as well as the three back tinted windows. It was, in a word, magnificent. The most comfortable front interior (never had to sit in the back - HA!), and Im a 6'5" 250 lb guy. I loved the cockpit style drivers side. It felt like it wrapped around you. My buddy loved being a passenger - he said it was like floating down the highway in a space ship. Tempted to pull the plug and get this car! The only issue I had with the car was that in 2004 i had to buy a new brake cable, and learned that getting parts for this car was going to be very difficult, so I decided to move on. Looking at this, I regret that decision.

I have one of these cars. Mine is a '97 LSC. Pearl White My chief complaints on owning these: 1 plastic blend door breaks, no avail parts. 2. air bags leak, have to convert it over 3. Dependable but low geared 4 spd transmission coupled with a bigger rear end meaning higher rpms on the highway. Could use gear higher. 4. ABS failure, very hard to find replacement. Took me a long while to find a new ABS module for it. 5. Xenon gas headlight fails, have to get conversion kit. My car is still running with 115,000K on the odometer but won't pass emissions. Keeps saying "NOT READY'. In May my plates expire.

Cant similar year thunderbird parts ( same chassis)work maybe even taurus as hvac might be similar. On emissions I'd say ask the ford tech on youtube channel FordTechMakuloco

All ways thought good about these Lincoln marks. This is a very swoops, slick body style. Even saw a NASCAR race with a body style . I love the new paint job. It is great paint job. If I had room, it would be in my garage. Great vlog, thanks for sharing!

This also looked alot like my Dad's 2001 Mercury Sable LS Premium which replaced our 1996 Taurus. The styling reminds me of both the Taurus and the Sable.

To charge your phone with a 12v unit and not have it make the little door stick up all the time. I hate cars that make you leave stuff open to charge. If Lincoln brought back the Mark series I buy a new one. It's my name sake, so I always seemed to love these.

I think something worth pointing out is this has the 32 valve engine, not the 16 valve SOHC engine. This is the same engine as the Mustang Cobra and the Mercury Marauder, and this car had it first!
