People should be playing this on Resolution mode. It's 60 FPS at 4k. The higher frame rate mode is just 60 FPS at a lower resolution either 1600p or 1440 I don't remember. Digital Foundry's video goes over it. There's virtually no performance drops at the Resolution mode.
For Barrett: I had a very similar experience with Ghost. I played a few hours and dropped the game because I was frustrated with the lack of a lock-on during combat. I ended up coming back to the game a few months later and fell in love with it. Once you adjust to the combat and it clicks, it feels great. I ended up getting the platinum, and I'm so excited to dive back in for more with this expansion! It's become one of my favorite games of all time.
It's funny hearing Blessing say he's sticking with Performance mode after hearing the Digital Foundry guys say that both modes are 60fps anyway. There's literally no benefit to Performance Mode.
I felt like the comparisons to Horizon Frozen Wilds were really unfair, like for example, Horizon is a much older game, of course you won't remember much of the story, but Frozen Wilds definitely had a great plot that was full of world building. The lore introduced in Frozen Wilds was incredibly comprehensive. Frozen Wilds was excellent DLC, it was huge and it was very lengthy too. I feel like Greg was re-writing history a little here. Furthermore, criticizing expansions for being "more of the same" or "too hard" is kinda ridiculous. The very concept of expansions is to provide FANS of the game with more of the same game they love, and that's typically through more endgame content - which is catered to people who have mastered all of the mechanics in the game. Again, expansions are intended for FANS of the game, not for journalists or critics looking to quickly rush through the game so they can post a review about it when embargo is up. Expansions are extensions to the base game, and they shouldn't be reviewed like standalone games (i.e. criticizing difficulty curves when the expansion is only available mid-way through the game).

He hardly ever completes games these days, and he's just doing too much for too long to really put effort and care towards these reviews. They always end up super general or broad casual discussions now that don't tell fans much in terms of details.
I thought he was way too negative he didn't even beat the game so it's kind of hard to trust his review but I'm sure people who are really into this genre will love the game

My question at this point is, shouldn't Iki Island have just been a DLC? It sounds like it's the only difference between the Director's Cut and the regular game, content-wise, and it's completely separate story from the main game that you access via a menu. It just seems like they forced it into this Director's Cut package to charge people more if they wanted to upgrade to PS5 (which doesn't really sound worth it, anyway).

It sounds like a distinction without a difference, but because ONLY the Director's Cut is available on PS5, it means you can't just spend $10 to upgrade to PS5. You have to spend $20 on the DLC, plus an additional $10, because there is no base game to upgrade to. Since the extra content is the only difference between the base game and the Director's Cut, it seems like the only reason to package it this way is to force a bigger upgrade fee on PS5 users.

Two things. One, I'm surprised Kinda Funny didn't point out that armors have customizable loadouts now, which they said in the PS4 review that they wanted & in fact told the director Nate Fox about during the spoilercast, which intrigued him to the idea. Second, I just opened the PS5 version briefly to autopop, but I think it was Bless who said the controller feels good when you're trying to shoot an arrow, and I gotta say I agree.
It's interesting Mike brings up Samurai Champloo since the Japanese voice actor for Jin Sakai in Ghost is the same voice actor as Mugen in Samurai Champloo :)
I understand blessing’s complaints but some of the things he complains about actually makes me excited to play it. I can always get through the parts that don’t make much sense with a guide at least.

So, I platinumed Ghost, and 100%ed Iki Island yesterday. I started Iki Island after beating the campaign. To me, the dialogue reflected what I had done for beating the story. Considering you can start Iki Island in act two, I wonder if the dialogue would change if you start it then?
It does, I think. For example, the NPC in the hot springs who gives you the hidden haiku has a cutscene; I spoke to after I beat the main story and the NPC mentioned Lord Shimura, to which Jin replied that he was dead. If you spoke to him earlier in the game, Jin in the cutscene would either say Lord Shimura was imprisoned (before you free him) or that he's still out there (most of the game)
There's also the dialogue where if you do Iki Island after the main campaign, Jin will say he killed Khotun Khan. Which doesn't happen if you do it at the beginning of Act 2, I believe.
Greg, your pronunciation of Tsushima is better than most but still not quite there. It’s TSOO-shee-maw (the T is not silent). But I also wouldn’t worry too much as long as you’re trying, most of your audience probably doesn’t speak Japanese. As a side note to Tim since it comes up pretty often, it’s O-nimusha, not AW-nimusha.

3-4 hours with a few more for side content is honestly what I expected from this DLC. I saw a few people say they expected it to be 10-20 hours which is insane. Excited to jump in tomorrow!
To be fair the developers themselves said in interviews that Iki island had about the amount of content as 1 of the acts from the main game. The main story of those acts were about 8-10 hours long so 3-4 hours is disappointing if you heard those interviews.
Dynamic 4k 60fps. The free upgrade at the start of the year was 1800p 60fps for ps5. I dont think I'll pull the trigger for the upgrade unless in this review/DF says its a must buy. Plus can't wait to hear what Mike thinks as he hates the dualsense 🤣

@@deathskids how is the dual sense a downgrade. It’s one of the best controllers even if it’s not used. When developers use the haptics and triggers properly is very good for single player experiences. That being said as much as I love ghosts, the upgrade to PS5 should be free and the dlc should be 20, just like other games. I’m not down with the $10 ps5 upgrade. I’ll wait for a sale, probably half price by Black Friday.

gotta disagree with greg about tlou part 2 stealing attention from ghost of tsushima if anything its the other way around many people who were disappointed with the last of us started championing how good ghost is thats why it won goty from the people choice in the game awards.
I played ghosts first during goty awards and felt the same. Then I played the last of us 2 to see why some people say it’s goty and others say it’s the worst game ever, after it got the ps5 upgrade. And for me it’s a technical masterpiece and probably the best game I ever played. It deserved goty in my opinion.

But it’s a testament to great games coming out so close to another. I think if ghosts came out by itself that year it would have done a lot more, but I’m sure it’s getting a sequel. I’m just happy sucker punch hit so hard with a new IP. So difficult to do, but this was amazing.
I have never played a click adventure game, nor have I played a narrative game, but there was something about Twelve Minutes I really, really enjoyed. Rolled credits in one sitting (about 7 hours) because I couldn’t put it down. It was also a great game to play with my girlfriend (who doesn’t game) she was thinking of things to do that I never would have & we were progressing through the story. Admittedly, she got burnt out around 4 hours, but still - great game, very much enjoyed it.
Can someone help me out because the first cut scene with the eagle on iki island Jin talks about defeating the Khan but I haven't done that yet In the story is this a glitch?

"Rated M for mature" is a content warning. Either you're mature enough to handle mature content or not. Stay away if you need to be treated like a child.
Great squad here…really enjoyed the show. 12 minutes on GAMEPASS was worth it…but the game was eh..6 maybe. 30$ for the ghost upgrade is a negative for me. Everything about the OG ghost was good but I’m done with that…not enough new to warrant that price when GAMEPASS exists. Great show though…solid reviews also 👍
Hey Greg, I speak Japanese. Easiest way to explain the pronunciation is "Soo-She-Mah" though if you wanna be perfect the first syllable is more at the tip of the tongue, mixing the s and t sound a little, sort of in the same place as tsk tsk tsk.
That's a great question considering he didn't feel the adaptive triggers. I bet since he's less familiar with the PS5 interface that he may have just played the wrong version.
Hate to be that guy, but it doesn't sit well when content is being sponsored by BetterHelp, what with all the controversy behind their terms and services, shady practices, and the amount of money sponsors make off of referrals. So many content creators did their research and dropped them as a sponsorship, so it's disappointing seeing that people are starting to sponsor them again. I'm sure there is no ill intent with sponsoring them, but it just doesn't bode well with me.
Can't wait for the inevitable sale so I can pick this up just bought the game at full price before the director's cut was announced. Sony is really showing off the differences between them and Microsoft right now and that's not a good thing
12 Minutes is terrible. I finished it. Tried all the loops hoping for a satisfying resolution. There is none. The story is gross and disappointing. There is way to much repetitive slog. The actors are top talent yet the direction and delivery is so flat so often. SPOILERS does the writer want to screw his sister? This incest story is beyond cringe. And the interactions you can have even after finding that out can be downright creepy. Terrible writing. Cool concept for a game. Poor writing and execution.

You can download it separately as DLC. The director’s cut is for people who never played the game in the first place to buy it in one package.

Rolled credits in one sitting (about 7 hours) because I couldn’t put it down.
It was also a great game to play with my girlfriend (who doesn’t game) she was thinking of things to do that I never would have & we were progressing through the story. Admittedly, she got burnt out around 4 hours, but still - great game, very much enjoyed it.

I feel the complaint about the lack of a content warning is a bit baloney because while it’s not in game it does have an M rating with a complete description. Do you need the game to spoil everything for you?
"Rated M for mature" is a content warning. Either you're mature enough to handle mature content or not. Stay away if you need to be treated like a child.

Great squad here…really enjoyed the show. 12 minutes on GAMEPASS was worth it…but the game was eh..6 maybe. 30$ for the ghost upgrade is a negative for me. Everything about the OG ghost was good but I’m done with that…not enough new to warrant that price when GAMEPASS exists. Great show though…solid reviews also 👍

Hey Greg, I speak Japanese. Easiest way to explain the pronunciation is "Soo-She-Mah" though if you wanna be perfect the first syllable is more at the tip of the tongue, mixing the s and t sound a little, sort of in the same place as tsk tsk tsk.

That's a great question considering he didn't feel the adaptive triggers. I bet since he's less familiar with the PS5 interface that he may have just played the wrong version.

Hate to be that guy, but it doesn't sit well when content is being sponsored by BetterHelp, what with all the controversy behind their terms and services, shady practices, and the amount of money sponsors make off of referrals. So many content creators did their research and dropped them as a sponsorship, so it's disappointing seeing that people are starting to sponsor them again. I'm sure there is no ill intent with sponsoring them, but it just doesn't bode well with me.

12 Minutes is terrible. I finished it. Tried all the loops hoping for a satisfying resolution. There is none. The story is gross and disappointing. There is way to much repetitive slog. The actors are top talent yet the direction and delivery is so flat so often. SPOILERS
does the writer want to screw his sister? This incest story is beyond cringe. And the interactions you can have even after finding that out can be downright creepy. Terrible writing. Cool concept for a game. Poor writing and execution.
Looks like another classic from PlayStation.
$30 for a handful of hours of content seems like typical sony. Witcher 3 still remains the best offer and expansion packages in gaming.

@@darrickbeitinger7664 thats ps4 copy. ps5 copy is $30 for the upgrade. Pretty egregious but i don't support that kind of horrible upgrade path anyway. At least we have two platforms doing it right.
@@loak3d So yes. It's 20. Also since you were talking main story stuff the witcher was the same way. If you mainline blood and wine or hearts of stone it's just a couple hours of quests.

SnowbikeMikes redemption episode. I stopped watching xcast after the dual sense diss but I see he is now open to all platforms and gaming experiences. As an owner of series X, I will continue watching cast even with the grumpy Garry. Also that big yawn made me love Mike more lol

@@SquintyEyedBoab No, I came here to watch a review but realised 30 minutes in that its a 2 hour paid advertisement of the game. At which point I left my feedback, and wondered why everyone else is so dumb to not realise the same thing.
If this was a paid advertisement, when I asked the question “is this worth picking up for people like me who weren’t feeling the original version of Ghost?” then why did they say no?
If it was a paid advertisement, wouldn’t they have just blindly said yes, that everyone should check this out?
