500 years. 500 fucking years Furina had to keep this secret to herself, literally no one to confide in. Day and night stressing and feeling powerless as her people suffered and died. I just can't fathom someone going through such a helpless situation, yet all by herself. Furina deserves the best 😢 😢😢

I love how Focalor herself really says that Furina was the perfect and ideal human with how selfless she was. Never allowing herself any sort of selfishness ( like confiding with the traveler to ease ur burdens) for fear of it sacrificing fontaine

For those who don't understand it yet:
Focalors was formerly an Ocenaid whose wish, like the other Ocenaids, was to live a life as a human. The former Hydro Archon Egeria granted their wish, but broke a very big law to do so. Creating a new human race without the consent of the Heavenly Principles was forbidden. For this she was supposed to die as penance and that's why there was this prophecy that the Hydro Archon was supposed to die and a great flood would come over Fontaine that would turn the people back into Ocenaids. Only then would Fontaine be cleansed of this sin. In order to save the humans, the new Archon, Focalors, split her divine side and her human side (she was both). Her human side, Furina was supposed to pretend to be the Hydro Archon (which she sort of was, but she was separate from her divine part) and focalors herself were waiting for the big day of the fulfillment of the prophecy. All of this took 500 years. By sacrificing herself and thereby destroying the Oratrice (because she was inside it), she was able to give the powers back to the Hydro Dragon and destroy the throne of the Hydro Archon (so there can be no more new Hydro Archon, because the Hydro Dragon has his full powers back). This gave the Hydro Dragon the power to transform the Fontainiens into real humans so that they didn't have to become Ocenaids. So in the end everyone was able to continue living as humans as they wished, including Furina. So Focalors and Furina are the same person, you can think of it like two sides of a coin. But she had to split these two sides so that she and the other humans could survive as humans. So a part of Furina/Focalors died. And in the beginning, before the division of both sides, it was the decision of both because they were one. So for people to say that Furina had no other choice is wrong. She was previously one with Focalors and even though she couldn't remember after the split, it had originally been her choice too. She also endured so many years and lived in fear for so long. It took a very strong will and a lot of talent to master this task. And even the other Archons now have a voiceline about her and they all respect Furina a lot for her actions. Since the people in Fontaine unfortunately don't know what Furina has really achieved and the only information they have is that Furina has deceived them for 500 years, Furina also takes on the hatred of many people. For me she is/was the best Archon so far.
Edit: I made a mistake. The prophecy was not that the Hydro Archon would die, but that she would sit alone on the throne and weep while the rest of Fontaine and its people perished. It was Focalor's idea to sacrifice herself. Through the trial she gathered strength in the Oratrice and it took 500 years to gather enough energy to kill a god (herself). Since the Hydro Archon had started a sin before her (Egeria), the Oratrice naturally showed the Hydro Archon during the trial as guilty and since Focalors was inside the Oratrice, she was able to direct and chose suicide as punishment to destroy the Archon's throne. Since the prophecy still came true, because Furina was sitting on her throne weeping alone as a human and the flood had actually come over Fontaine, Focalor's was able to deceive the Heavenly Principles. Since Neuvillette had his powers back and had complete control over water, he was able to give real blood to the people of Fontaine and turn them into real people so that they didn't have to disintegrate.
(Sorry for the confusion, I had to rewatch the scenes myself twice to understand it properly)

Beauty isn’t just a word to describe the God of hydro. But in essence a being who wanted nothing but to save her people even at the cost of her own life. She couldn’t be human like she wanted but had that be Furina instead. Truly a God in every sense of the word

So, in the end of the Quest, Neuvillette reveals that he received the Hydro Gnosis on this scene. This scene looks suspiciously similar to the scene where Venti gave Dvalin "The power of the Anemo Archon".
This Archon Quest also revealed that the one telling the truth was Nahida and that Venti was lying regarding the source of an Archon's power.
What did nahida say was the source of their power again?
@@crossfire4691Nahida said it was faith. Venti said it was rulling over the nation as a justification for him being "weak". But he probably is lying about both. Thats not the source of his power nor he is weak, he probably had his motives to not share this info at that moment.

Just saw it rn but u could actually see focalors shedding a tear just before the swords crashes onto her.
She did both the right thing and the wrong thing also, but she like a balance sometimes we have a choice of both god and human. Gonna say this is the best cutscene ever.
Through this cutscene I finally understood why the opera/Theatrical imagery was important to the character of Furina. Because both Furina was the Tragedy mask to Focalors' Comedy mask, their expressions towards their fate says it all. They know that the Prophecy will come to pass and Furina has a sad expression because the work she had tirelessly done for over 5 centuries is crumbling before her very eyes and she is having trouble accepting it, meanwhile Focalors is sure that her's and Fontaine's fate will come to pass and has chosen to accept it with a smile on her face because after all, it was her plan since the beginning

I love in this game, that death is permanent. Messages appear from the beyond, consciousnesses, spirits stuck, but when someone dies, they stay dead, and it has such an emotional impact on the story, as well as on the audience.

They really outdid themselves this time with this archon quest the emotions with losing the old and man and silver then her and furina having suffered 500 years and the storytelling were perfect
This is the very first cutscene Genshin has made me cry. I almost cried in Ei’s quest and as well in Sumeru. After finishing this cutscene I noticed I needed a lot of tissues… and I still cry to this cutscene ;-;
The violin on 1:47 gave me chills...
Fun fact: I was searching up something related to Furina and this popped up… right before completing the archon quest… oh well thanks TH-cam… anyways since I was spoiled… how’d y’all feel who actually experienced it.
Where I live in high school we had to choose 3 specialized classes for our curriculum starting from the second year I chose cinematography or smt like that in english and 2 in litteracy (one is the english litteracy wich was really just english+, and litteracy wich is much more link to philosophy (I chose that cuz I didn't have anything interesting for other options)
And so I couldn't help but kinda realise how good everything was placed together
During the whole time we see the two facet of the hydro archon,
The human will and outside form that is Furina
And the hidden form that is focalor
During the whole dance both syncronised in a way
On furina's side we , the traveler aka the witness of teyvat, are placed in the audience clearly putting the point on us witnessing an opera piece with Furina quite litteraly being an actor
Then we have Neuvillette being with Foçalor on the scene basically casually talking with her not only does it also show his ties to the archon but also his place in the world that is represented by the scene
Than at the start of the dance and for most of the dance, Furina is facing the traveller as to say that she will tell him the secret ready to tell hil the truth, to shine the light on the situation, while Foçalor had her back turn to Neuvillette as almost to represent the dark truth he's been kept away from (Neuvillette in this context representing the entirety of Fontaine's citizen if not the entirety of Teyvat)
Than at the end both Furina and Foçalor turn around, Furina keeping the secret and the traveller in the dark while Foçalor face Neuvillette shining the truth his way
And then the guillotine falls on Foçalor to stop the prophetie while Furina 's hat fall to sort of represent she gave up the prophetie is inevitable she did not manage to save anyone
It's truly an interesting and beautiful composition viewed from that angle and I love it

Foçalor goes left while Furina goes right and at the Furina is facing Traveller (audience) and Foçalor is facing Neuvillette (her back to the audience)

PS: I wonder what the Heavenly Principles are gonna do once they found out 1 of the 7 sovereigns got their power back, would the HP come down to personally executed Neuvillette ? Did Focalor calculated their reactions as well ? Also, what happened to Egeria 500 years ago during the cataclysm that forced her to pass down her archon's power to Focalor ??? So many question, so few answers

After seeing neuvillette cry for do alors, I cried for him. The scene where he forgives everyone’s sins and looked so sad at the end… I cried.
For 500 long years did Furina have play the role of a God. No one to talk to, no one to listen. Some may see Focalors as devious and a villan (trust me, there's a few out there), but in reality Focalors is a hero, and so is Furina. It's quite obvious that Celestia is our main enemy, not the Fatui and not the Tsarista (Thats how I see it, at least)

the way that the "Guillotine" shaped like a Sword, I can't help but to draw the Damocles parallel, especially since the Sword is made to Execute those in Highest Authority.
The parrallel of Damocles works too, considering its been metaphorically hanging over Furina's head for 500 Years, preventing her from saying anything.

At first I saw her as somewhat a goofy ahh con-artist but after following the entirety of the archon quest, man I didn't realize she's been suffering for far too long, putting on a mask like that for your entire existence that can break a common human let alone a little girl like her.
I'm just so glad in her story quest she gradually regains and even to an extent, reinvents herself in a way.
I thought the story peaked on Sumeru, I genuinely think that Fontaine gon flop, there's no way this Bioshock Infinite Theme Park can top the Mystical Fantasy Region of Sumeru but man oh man I'm so glad I was proven wrong.

I'm bursting in tears during this cutscene and my dad looking at me silly while talking with his friend on the phone. She really making me teared up even more than rukkhadevatta and nahida. Both Archons and their AQ are my favorites so far, can't wait what kind of emotions that hoyo will bring me in Natlan
I think everyone is missing the part, where on the zoom in just before the sword strikes her, you can see Focalor is crying as well.
