The saddest thing in all this is Furina just...shutting down once her Secret was out. A secret we learned she was holding on with the greatest acting Teyvat has ever seen for 500 years.
I feel so bad for her now. Especially since the Trial would never have gotten anything useful out of Furina because she literally knew nothing of the plan. A Plan that needed her ignorance to make it all come together.
Yeah. It literally makes me mad cuz it just seemed like she was pointlessly pushed to her breaking point and slapped in the face after she has been forced to put on am act for 500 years.
To people's credit they didn't knew if she knew or not and thought she did know a vital information abt the prophecy. She was the archon after all

@@dragoniteomega9310 It's a perfect example of a lose-lose situation. Furina can't tell anyone the secret or else the plan falls apart and everyone will die, and because she cannot tell anyone, no one knows that she's only withholding information with nothing but good intentions. This leads to doubt, and in some cases outrage, because people mistakenly believe her to only care about herself despite that couldn't be further from the truth. Yet Furina can't clear up this misunderstanding or else she risks the plan falling apart and everyone dying, putting her right back at square 1. It's a never-ending cycle of depression, self-doubt, self-loathing, misery... The moment Focalors put Furina in that situation, Furina was screwed in every single way and had no hope of getting out until Focalors finally died.
Yet who do you blame? Focalors? What was the alternative? Despite all the suffering Furina went through, the plan worked and everyone was saved. Can you really blame the Traveler, Paimon, Navia, Clorinde, Arlecchino, etc., for doubting her when Furina herself is constantly putting on a show where she doesn't SEEM to be taking things seriously? Do you blame Egeria for just wanting to fulfill her people's wishes? No.
People are misdirecting their anger over Furina's situation towards the wrong people. It's Celestia who is to blame. THEY are the ones who charged Egeria over a crime that is by all accounts ridiculous and hypocritical when they did the SAME THING to the Dragon Sovereigns, a point Focalors herself makes. And CELESTIA IS THE ONE who felt it necessary for this prophecy and the burden of it to pass down to the ancestors of the ones who committed it. It's completely petty, ridiculous, and hypocritical on Celestia's part. THEY ARE THE ONES DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR FURINA'S SITUATION.
They'd better have a very good reason for all this overall, because it is not looking good for Celestia at all. I don't see how their actions can be excused.
The shock for her was so strong that, when Neuvillette said "guilty", she just sit and cried in her throne.... and she was there the whole time, even during the flood...
And probably acepted her Fate, maybe she thinks everything was over and when she ear the death sentence didn't care, because she already "failed"

It hurts more since we later realize that she panicked and tried to desperately persuade everyone that she's their Archon cuz Focalors told her that if her identity gets leaked, then everyone would be doomed.
And then what happens? Flash flood came... And she thought the fontainians have dissolved coz her identity got revealed

@@narusas1222 the thing is they believe that the Oratrice would only announce whether someone is guilty or not guilty and nothing more serious. that's why everyone was in on the idea of this including neuvilette who is very gentle in nature. They just want to do this to force the secret out because they think it would be harmless to her, not knowing that she is keeping the act because she believes she must. I mean in the end it's all playing into focalors plan, but still its hard to watch.

Desparate times calls for desparate measure. Fontaine was about to be flooded by the Primodial sea and Poisson was the first one to experience it. Frankly I understand the group after all before Furina's reveal she was practically doing nothing not when people of Fontaine was turning to water
The thing is, they didn’t think revealing the truth would be so serious. They only thought it would tell her the seriousness of the situation, but didn’t think she was keeping up the act to save them or that the oratrice would give the death sentence
The first trial against Furina was very satisfying in the end. But this trial was kind of painful all the way through seeing Furina's desperation, and how she completely broke while she cried silently to herself was gut wrenching.
And she wasn't even crying for selfish reasons like no longer being able to live in luxury, but for how suddenly all of her 500 years of soul-crushing effort were destroyed.

Exactly.she believed that mirror me said if she continued everything people of fontaine will be saved.she thought now that everyone found out she was afraid that she failed her job and her hard work is now nothing and perhaps people fontaine couldn't be saved anymore.
Not to mention the fact that she knows that if she failed fontaine people will pay the price.
she also ran away really quick once she realise she was wrong, which is good, since she never wanted to accused the innocent wrongly.
But here in her trial, while obviously she had already been shred apart, all her evidence gone, yet she still insist to be the archon, really is quite sad
She was crying not because she's losing her position as Archon or that pain but probably because she couldn't protect the one secret and truth she was holding back to save everyone else...~

the bitter part about all of this was that, after we finished the archon quest, none of them even checked her to console or apologize to her. we only got mentions that she “left” or “stepped down”. it was only when we talked to neuvillette where we learned how she will finally be able to live a human life, but what good is that if she will feel lonely for the rest of her mortal days?
i haven’t done her story quest yet so i really hope she gets her own justice, i hope she gets a happy ending because this was the saddest archon quest we’ve gotten yet. a poor human soul shouldering the fate of a nation without knowing when her duty will be complete, only to feel like a failure after being revealed to look like a fraud.
Only Neuvillete care, but the traveller dont try to check her, I remenber having a boring walk with Charllote, going to A to B, and in the end was dissapointing not having a chat.
And on her quest its like Fontanians dont know the true
I 100% agree with this in the archon quest I truly felt sad for her and wish she gets some love after all she’s been through but at the end they just write her off so insignificantly, which I really don’t understand because they really got something going for a good while there
@@helio5714 it's because she left before we get back after fighting with the narwhal even neuvillette don't know where she's gone, the only one who visited her is clorinde and we only knew where she is when katheryn told us.
I'm giving everyone of them all of 4.3 to express ALL of those apologies they owe Furina (though Neuvillette and Traveler at least made some compensations, it's not enough), as I've decided to give them the benefit of the doubt as they were involved in flood and the clean up (and Furina left quickly and quietly).

You can learn about any historical figure if you are curious enought, but, you, you don't do that, you just juge without doing even a little effort. Did you even know who was the ruler in France at the time of the Révolution ? Did you even know that he wasn't suppose to be the ruler ? It's so much complicated that just "the ruler is stupid". If you search you can find so many thing on this person, but you probably didn't.
She was initially very excited cause she thinks this is the great trial that will end her five centuries of acting.

No it isn’t, this is just another continuation of her act, as the holder of the title archon, justice is her proof of existence, and the trial against an archon serve its point that everyone will be judge, even to the very person that create judgement in the first place
the most painful thing about her is when she's deperately trying to say that she's the archon and we have to believe her but when she looked at the traveler and Neuvillette they avoided her

The problem in the end was not the whale,but the flood after it.

Whether we beat the whale or not didn't matter for Fontaine's fate. It was meant to be flooded, no matter the cause of the flood.

The most heartbreaking moment for me is when Neuvillette declared the death sentence, Furina did not even react. She was already broken down so much she couldn’t process anything else happening to her. And the reason for that wasn’t because she feared what would happen to her. It was because she thought that she had already failed her task after all. All those 500 years of suffering that she had to endure alone was for nothing, just to fail at the end. She genuinely cared for her people, and not at all for herself. She didn’t care if she’d die at that point. The only thing that was going on her mind then was probably “I’m sorry everyone, I failed you. I couldn’t save you all at the end” and nothing about herself.
This was probably by far the most tragic fate of a Genshin character. And Furina is also by far the most selfless and gentle character. She really did know nothing about Focalor’s plans and doesn’t even have a bit of her support so that she could protect herself. Even now that she’s free, she would probably still have to take this secret all the way to her grave, and she didn’t even blame anyone although she could totally have. What pisses me off is that none of the people who knows her secret apologised to her. She deserves more than the world, not being left to live and buys macaroni alone at her shitty house. I don’t think Neuvillette did anything close to it when he told the traveler that she’d never have to worry about her living conditions. What she needs more than a home now is company. They owed her that much, to say the least.
the entire court was absolutely shook when they found out that they were all actually Oceanids, loved that reveal
In an otherwise very tense scene, I kind of loved that random audience member that just decided "you know what, I'm just going to forget all about it".
After looking into this, i can agree that the public may have their rights to be resentful of furina as she showed inaction. Apart from gathering intelligence of the prophecy we don't see much else. The incident in Poisson also went against her. Now i know that tricking furina to confess was necessary but after finding out the actual truth you would think that Furina does deserve an apology but no one gives it. What's worse....she probably thinks she deserves it though she suffered for centuries. If i were the traveller, i would apologize profusely in her story event but they show paimon and the traveller be indifferent and insulting. Kinda deserve some punishment for that...

Traveler literally comforted and supported her throughout most of the quest. The one thing he did wrong was ask her to do a play but that was it. Paimon though was the insensitive and rude one

Ngl furina deserves an apology.
I don't see many people talking about how she is pleading at 28:55 and breaking because of it. Not because she is looking out for herself, but because she loves the people of Fontaine and because she knows what she knows, she is begging them to believe her in order to subvert the prophecy. Her tears are not for her, but for her people.
She suffered too long to fail in the end. That thought could also bring tears on her face.
Fontaine is the first nation where the traveller doesn't do something huge and emerge as a national hero. Instead the national hero is a mortal girl who had to put up an act for 500 years through thick and thin, masquerading as an all knowing god immune to human emotions...
It can also be argue we caused more harm than good, being the ones to expose furina an being a direct cause for the prophecy to happen. And no one thanks or apologizes to her, for working and suffering tirelessly for 500 years.
The meaning of the third slate being revealed was definitely the OH S**T moment.
Definitely, I wonder what of happened if Freminet had arrived before or even during the trial and everyone learnt the full prophecy

I really hated the Traveler in this scene. Furina was willing to risk her life to protect her secret and they still didn't apologize afterwards. 500 years of suffering to end up emotionally shutdown

NGL was YELLING “LET THEM DISSOLVE THEN!” During this entire part of the story. This trial made me lose some respect for everybody involved in deceiving Furina , I know they wanted to make her “realize how serious the situation is” but I’m pretty sure her visiting Poisson and looking VISIBLY upset about what happened there was enough proof that she KNOWS how serious it is. And then NOBODY apologized for publicly ridiculing her and single-handedly saving Fontaine And traveler really had the audacity to say “I still need answers” when The death sentence was activating pissed me off even more. Furina is a real god among gods. And f**k celestia lol

honestly yeah the fact that we didn't get to talk to furina at the end of the AQ kinda sucked, but the trial was 100% justified. We had no idea what the hell she was doing and we needed answers. Her looking sad in poisson wasn't going to do anything to save everyone else, and everytime someone asked what her plan was she just said "trust me bro fr" and dodged all the questions. The trial and all the tricking was completely reasonable and y'all have shit media literacy. Was furina in the right? Totally. Should we have apologized to her at the end? Yes. But don't go around saying oh wow everyone sucks they humiliated the poor girl like if your so called god wasn't going anything when everyone's gonna die this weekend I'd be pissed too

I never said “they sucked” I said I lost some respect for them because of how they executed this plan. If there’s anything I said remotely close to sucking it’s Celestia, but we all knew that already.
To see her so defeated when her secret is out and feeling so alone, abandoned by the people who she thought were with her, broke me to the core. Furina needed so much hugs and an apology. I haven't played her Act 1 yet, but from what I saw, the way the MC and Paimon treated her in the beginning is very distasteful, especially with all the trauma Furina dealt with. I hope she is still relevant in the future, and she receives a PROPER story where she is comforted and has some sense of worth in Fontaine.
Traveler did ask her to do a play which was weird given that he knew the truth, but he stopped after she said no. After that, he comforted and supported her no matter what and listened to her problems. Paimon on the other hand insulted her living situation and tried to guilt trip her to do it and insulted her numerous times.
To be fair, Mihoyo made the quest so it isn't Traveler's fault.

A true tragedy, in every sense of the matter. I've never seen a character get pinned this hard for doing the right thing. A deception through and through for the greater good, not even the true Focalors survived. What stings even more is that at least by the end of the Archon quest, Furina herself had no closure outside of knowing that the plan worked somehow. At least Nahida could live on with blissful ignorance of what she was robbed of, but Furina still has to cope without necessarily knowing the full extent of what happened.

The sole region and character (Furina) started playing again for. The sheer loneliness and sadness in Furina's story has tugged on my heart unlike any other art has for quite a while. When she begged her people to believe her and when she didn't notice she was crying were particularly heartwrenching. And sadly, it doesn't feel like anyone, even the MC or Neuvie, gave her credit for selflessly carrying her duty out all alone for 500 years after the Archon Quest ended.
I really hope that they keep adding to this region and the characters for a while longer rather than jumping to Natlan so soon. It would be such a waste of all the effort and magic they put into Fontaine.

The saddest one for me is how desperate she was while saying "please everyone, anyone please just listen to me! I am your real archon!" she was trying so hard to convince them because she was afraid that she was going to fail to protect her people..

The way she desperately tried to explain to her people that she really is their Archon just shows how she really wants to keep her people safe. She is more of an Archon than any Archons so far despite being completely human
Whats breaks it the most, is the fact that all of them saw in how much pain Furina was, yet they didn't showed any sign of empathy towards her, or even a guilt.
Also, am i the only one who thinks its weird that while they did all this, they haven't even thought for once: "Why did Furina did all this?". Like, whats the motive? Why did she pretented to be the Archon??? Kind of stupid to forget to investigate this before the trial if ya ask me.
Aether apologized before the trial really got started, even claimed he wanted her to confess while inside of the “magic box”.
During the whole trial, everything wound up going against Furina despite her best efforts which eventually lead to her guilty verdict. The Traveler played the role of prosecutor yet noticed by the end of the trial that Furina continued to insist on being the Hydro Archon to the point of emotionally breaking down wondering if there was a reason to keep up the act? The way Furina's perspective was presented as Neuvillette brought out the verdict harshly displayed her feeling betrayed by him and the Traveler whom she had trusted. The sentence however, shocked everyone as the Oratrice sentenced the Hydro Archon to death. It did not sentence Furina but the Hydro Archon when it was clear that she isn't the Archon. Later after Freminet surprisingly brought over the missing stone slate (how did he carry that thing all the way over). That was when everything was unveiled and explaining how Oceanids outside of Fontaine as seen in the event quests can take human forms and that is because of the actions of Egerias fulfilling the desires of Oceanids to venture on land and the sin of creating humanity was noticed by the Heavenly Principles who punished them with a prophecy of doom. Neuvillette unveils the prophecy that the Hydro Archon would be fated to stand trial amongst the people of Fontaine and unveil the architect that would bring about Fontaine's destruction in the form of an ancient Devourer the Heavenly Principles had been preparing since they declared their punishment on Egeria and all of Fontaine.
After the whale unveils itself, the Oratrice begins to enact the Death Sentence on the Hydro Archon. Knowing there was something Furina wanted to tell them before they got to Opera Epiclese, the Traveler tried to save Furina as both them and Neuvillette are brought to the inner worlds of both Furina and Focalors respectively and both they both learn the truth of them both. Neuvillette learns of the reason for Focalors's deception against the Heavenly Principles as she gathered what she needed for the death penalty on her and her existence to save the people of Fontaine which will restore Neuvillette's authority over Hydro. Meanwhile, the Traveler in Furina's inner world sees for themselves, what Furina truly is and why she needed everyone to believe she is the Hydro Archon at all costs because if she is exposed, the Heavenly Principles will end Fontaine. Both Neuvillette and Traveler learns Furina is an oceanid created by Focalors in her likeness to personify her desires of being a human and also as her double while Focalors prepared for her plan. Cursed with eternal youth, Furina literally played the role of Hydro Archon for 500 years even while she slowly fell apart because of it. Focalors went as far as to not tell Furina of her plans to avoid any chance of the Heavens catching on. Both Neuvillette and the Traveler learned different truths, but one thing was apparent, for Focalors and Furina, the time has come for their performance to end. The god ends her own life to save Fontaine and ending Furina's eternal performance that had became a nightmare.
This was absolutely masterpiece of a chapter.
The most heartbreaking scene for me, especially after full quest, is the scene where Furina loses trial and sits on the throne.
From her perspective, its absolutely devastating beyond belief- she dedicated her whole life, 500 years to play a role that actively hurt her, 24/7. Role, that was told to her could save entirety of Fontaine- all she had to do, was to keep up the appareance that she was the true archon. And not let it slip even for a second.
If she could keep it up, then Fonaine was saved from the horrible prophecy. But that was the moment she failed. She lost. Not just everything to her, but from her perspective, she just doomed the entire nation she fought so hard to protect. For 500 years. And at the perhaps most crucial of moments, it was all swept away, dooming Fontaine to the horrible fate. All that suffering for naught.
I understand why Focalors had to go about it the way she did, but it is still very cruel way of doing so. Cant wait until we take down the celestia and heavenly principles.
Poor Furina. Kept in the dark from her own Godly self, held on the secret and playing a role all for the sake of trying to save the people only for the people to turn against her and to have her secret cruelly exposed by the group of people who may well be the only people she's ever considered friends
The worst part about this entire trial, is how afterwards, esp in the guns and roses event, furina mentions her trauma, and still being fearful over Fontaine flooding- and Paimon makes fun of it.

Like, somehow Nahida got all the apologies. I get how furina was partly complicit since she couldn’t do anything about the flooding. That being said, Hoyo did her so bad when they had the traveler making fun of her.
Like it isn’t needed, and it’s cruel. Especially after traveler manipulated and lied to her, and yet she has to brush it off.
Like my heart broke when we talked to her during her story quest. With her voice low, sore and tired. She’s definitely dealing with heavy ass guilt and depression, and still has to deal with traveler’s bs.
I’m sorry, but there’s only so much sympathy I have for travelers stupid sibling when they do shit like this to such an archon.
Btw, since I know people will comment: I don’t hate Nahida, not to I hate traveler. Traveler was OOC for this imo. I’m just saying, furina deserves an apology from traveler. And thing to think about why furina should apologize- she shouldn’t for travelers experience in Fontaine. The only thing I could see her apologizing for is the state of the primordial sea. But even that wasn’t her fault.

As a Christian player I don’t know why this act of fountain is reminded me of Christian story and Jesus sacrifice, hence I bawling my eyes out on the Neuvillette scene when he washed out all fountain sim and said “your sin is forgiven”.
The 3lingual Godly thing when focalore said she seperad herself into 3 being feels like a Father God, Christ & Holy Spirit thingy, and how Christ has to be sacrificed or cry on his throne (cross) that way all his people sin will be forgiven.
And the fact that God is self send his own human self to be sacrificed
I thought I was the only one who notice this also. They really did well in writing the story quest, and the literatures and religious themes were done justice. Thank you for also commenting this because not a lot of people had seen this observation too.

This piece of Genshins story is absolute peak in my opinion, from the psychological aspects of human to the lore behind everything. The only downside is not the story part itself but the following part. I know that only Nuvillette and the Traveler know about the background story of Furina, but there needed to be like a healing and recognition part for her because naturally an experience like this leaves on a normal human mind extrem wounds and traumatizing memories. It’s sad to see that after the quest, nobody that knows the truth ever shows some real interest or recognition for the things that she needed to go through. ( a simple thing like a hug or a private celebration with her right after the Quest would be enough )

fontaine is proly the worst in terms of citizens like they were extremly selfish, wanted to be something they werent meant to be, egeria died for them after granting their wish, and they turn on anyone in court who shows any type of weakness more akin to feral animals then humans

tbh it wasnt even the fontainans fault tho, originally it was the celestia fault for banishing the original hyro archon just because she granted fontainans wishes. it wasnt also their fault for wanting the truth of why furina hiding something when some of poissons people, the dissapearance of women died, and other more, they needed answers but as you can see the answers they seek was hidden for the safety. honestly? fontainans are pretty smart almost like khaenriah people and now their country state is probably like them now

This is why the Oratrice insists on the “Archon hydro” and not on “Furina” or “Focalors”.
I hated everyone during and after this scene. They humiliated and destroyed this girl in front of everyone. I can't look at the Traveler the same way after this, it was just cruel. Furina didn't deserve this. I felt disgusted at myself while playing this, I just wanted to stop everything.

I guess if you see it from another angle, the others (Neuvillette, traveler, Lyney, etc) knew nothing about Focalors' whole plan regarding Furina and the prophecy. In their eyes, they saw that the hydro archon was not doing her duty as just that: the archon. Letting the people of poisson get dissolved and running away from the prophecy. They wanted to know why Furina was being so (and I know this is a harsh way of saying it) useless when it came to defending Fontaine against the prophecy, knowing nothing of the truth, and Furina had to keep it that way.
Furina, though, deserves high, HIGH, praise for doing her job for 500 years, not dropping her mask even once.

Neuvi also suggested that the Oratrice may have judged him guilty out of waking up Narwhal, the trigger for the Primordial Sea flood (hence somewhat "guilty" of the disappearance case)

This made me hate on these characters for ganging up on Furina without knowing anything. They didn’t even actually do anything to help save or prevent the prophecy. It was all Furina’s and they have the audacity to be mean to her.
At least Neuvilette pushed back the water inside the fortress, though still not enough to prevent the prophesy.

I feel awful for Furina, she did everything she could to play the part right and to keep everyone safe but she just couldn’t in the end me and broke down. But to play devil”’s advocate At the same time I can’t exactly blame everyone for this trial. She wasn’t going to reveal the truth and as far as they would know she was either a fake or doing nothing, so they had to take action in some way. This whole situation couldn’t have gone any other way. Still though, the fact we never see anyone apologize or say anything to her is inexcusable.

Yes i feel bad for furina but what everyone in the trial did is reasonable. Yes furina tried to conceal her identity in order protect everyone from the prophecy, yes she got humiliated furina in the trial. Yes, she absolutely deserved better and apology.
However, you guys completely forget, the entire fontaine is about to be completely wiped out, everyone is panicking ever since the possion incident. Navia just lose her 2 closest friend in that incident, neuvilette tried to talk to furina about th incident and about the previous hydro archon for more infomation but it turned into an argument because furina is avoiding every question neuvilette ask her, which led to them having no other option but to put her in trial and force answer out of her.
Plus, i am sure traveller and neuvilette (possibly paimon) are the only one that knows what happened since neuvilette has speak to focalor directly and traveler is inside of furina inner world to see furina past.
In conclusion, everyone is the victim, yes thats include the traveler and paimon.

I think the problem isn't the trial itself - yes, it is incredibly cruel to Furina when one has the full picture, but everyone acted reasonably with the informations they had. The real kicker is the seemingly lack of care afterward, something that Furina's story doesn't really adress either - if anything, it almost makes things worse.
@@Talyrion yeah I can see why is some people would be mad at that but since not alot people know what actually happened to furina and alot time has somewhat pass I just people except for furina trauma just somewhat move on and worried about other things, we do not talk about paimon tho she always been insensitive, while the traveler is a bit more complex to talk about.
