    I’m glad I waited to buy and Everyday bag. The 20 L Zip is perfect for my everyday work travel and for my minimal video run-&-gun interview shoots

    I have acquired this bag, I will be testing it for airline travel tomorrow....watch for this. In the meantime, as you say, there are some quirky features to this bag and there are some things (locking off the bottom zips) that will be needed to prevent accidents, but otherwise, my sense is that this will be a great "under seat" bag. More to follow. Thanks again!!

    • @davidlamb75
      @davidlamb75 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well as a follow up to my post, it has gone on its first flight. It didn’t go well. It is super easy for stuff to fall out of the bag on the floor of the aircraft. The side of the bag (the water bottle pocket) got scuffed easily going under the seat, so Peak Design will be getting an e-mail from me about that.
      The good news is that this bag fits easily under a 737 seat with a water bottle in one of the pockets.
      Pulling the bag up between your legs is fairly easy although I find the grab handle a bit more difficult to reach than my Everyday Backpack v1.0 30L. When I use the 30L under the seat it is packed closer to 20L (the EDBP 20L is far too small).
      The narrower profile of the v2 zip means you can put this bag under the seat even if there is an electrical box (a genuine pain in the ass) under the seat. This is a huge deal because chances are fair to good you will find yourself with a box under your seat and this bag does work (water bottle will have to come out in this use case).
      More to follow after the next flight.

      @@davidlamb75 what pockets are allowing the stuff to fall? Is it just the side bottle pockets or the main chambers?

    • @davidlamb75
      @davidlamb75 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nick Loganbill Anything in the top section of the bag will fall out. Water bottle pockets not the problem.

    • @PackHacker2
      @PackHacker2  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey David - thanks for sharing your experience! Good point on the slimmer profile working well with an electrical box under the seat. As for items falling out, is this just when the top section is open? Also, what colorway do you have that shows the scuff?
      - Tom

    • @davidlamb75
      @davidlamb75 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pack Hacker Quick Hits Tom, it’s when the top section of the bag is opened and because the bag has a slightly slippery material, the bag can fall over in a leather seat (which happened twice during the flight). As for the color, I have the black 20L EDBP zip.

    After using a 20L regular and a 15L zip, I like the zip better. I can fit three cameras with large lens (I have three dividers forming an capital I shape to store two cameras one each side and the third on top so zipper up to retrieve the side and zipper down to retrieve the third) and access all easily and I use pouch to hold accessories so don’t miss the extra pockets. 15L zip empty is only 2,2 pounds, it’s light and the calms-hell opening is easier to maximize space and bag is soft and forgiving to stuff oversized item. The only recommendation to both the regular and zip user is both bags don’t have much padding at the bottom so buy an extra divider place it at the bottom gives more padding protection and allow the bag to sit up straight.

    I think the way to keep this bag will be basically like how I keep my Everyday 20L, just have the bottom zips locked all the time and then have the two top zips at the top in the middle and open from there that way, either left zip open one side or right zip open the other side or partial unzip both to access the top.

    • @PackHacker2
      @PackHacker2  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey venom5809 - thanks for sharing your experience with us! We get what you're saying, with a bag this size it works well by just accessing items from the top of the pack, but we do like having the option to access the quick-grab pockets and bottom of the back if we need to, especially if we have the dividers in there too. 😊🙌

    • @venom5809

      Pack Hacker Quick Hits I purposely keep my bottom zippers locked and only open using the top zippers because I know one day if I didn’t I will inadvertently leave it open and my camera and stuff will come tumbling out onto the ground. lol

    If i only use it for clothes and things for traveling (no cameras) Do you think there is enough space for carry 7 days of clothes? I love this because can work for travelling and every day rather than the travelling that looks bigger for everyday pack.

    You say the bag has 3 zippers (3:18), but it looks like it might have 4? Hopefully it's 4 as having only 3 zippers could be cumbersome with only a single zipper being shared between the two sides.

    I'm conflicted on whether I should get the Zip 20L or the Totepack 20L. I don't carry a huge amount of photo gear, just my phone, a small mirrorless, and a Mavic mini, but I'd be carrying music gear like a small midi keyboard.

      We get what you're saying, Tiffany! It's a tough choice. Both are solid packs so it really comes down to you and your style. We haven't got our hands on the Everyday Totepack 20L (V2) but we do know that this one offers different ways to carry (tote and backpack) if you're looking for more variety. Let us know which one you decide on. 😊👍

      @PackHacker2  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Eukicos - the straps on the Everyday Backpack 30L (V2) seem to be the same thickness as the straps on the Peak Design Travel Backpack. However, the Everyday Backpack straps on the 30L (V2) seem a little more spongy, so we're interested to see whether this changes the more we test them. We recommend keeping an eye out for the full review for more info. 😊👍

    I watched so many of these review videos and ended up purchasing the 15L a few days ago.
    I just want to say it sucks.
    I find the bag to be attractive, and to be the perfect size for minimal carry.
    However, once I load the bag with my Sony A7iii and a 16-35mm, and Zhiyun Weebill S, it becomes the most uncomfortable bag ever.
    I have seen so many damn videos praising Peak Design to be a company that makes great bags. I just don't get it. These should straps could not be suited for "camera bags." Very poor design with thin, barely non padding. I walked for about 15 minutes and in serious pain. My friends all tried them out and agreed this bag is not designed well.
    My daily non-camera bag is the Aer Duffel Pack 2, and I can't believe Peak Design costs more.
    It's all about the shoulder straps.
    I'm sure I'll still enjoy using this bag for carrying only a laptop and a sweatshirt inside.
    But this cannot be suited for any camera equipment.

      Lol take a nap 🤦‍♂️. Do you know how long it takes to put a bag together? It’s probably been in the works for a while and not to mention the duo has more PD like “features” than the zip does of the duo.

    • @timothylinn
      @timothylinn 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ab85 main A nap sounds pretty good! As for the bag, there’s nothing complex or remarkable about it except for the zipper design. Getting it into production with established manufacturers isn’t a huge hurdle.

    • @ab85main73
      @ab85main73 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Timothy Linn never said anything about it being complex, it has to do with time. Did you account the time they took designing the zip? it wasn’t just the zip, they refreshed their whole lineup. Did you also account for the time it took to test the products, the fit, the finish and the time it hit the market? The duo hit Kickstarter like 4-5mo’s ago, it takes longer than that to release a new product, more so for a whole refreshed v2 lineup. Any way you want to cut it, the duo took more design cues from peak than peak did wandrd.

      dude...I'm sorry...but not, it's not. it's a simplified and refined version of the everyday backpack that Art, Pete Lockett and I designed 4 years ago. But it's certainly true that WANDRD has taken note of the Peak Design features that have performed well over the years. Appreciate the comments helping us out on that one.
