I wish someone would do an update on the effects that the volcanic eruption in the Pacific island nation of Tonga, the Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha'apai volcano, has had on global weather patterns. That eruption was record breaking in so many ways, but the important one is the amount of water vapor injected into the upper atmosphere. None of the models used to model weather take into account such an increase because no one thought it possible for this type of eruption to push that much water vapor that high into the stratosphere. Now this isn't causing rain directly, no exactly. What it has done is change the temperature of the atmosphere, which in turn changes the overall weather patterns. Some places are wetter, some drier. Some hotter or cooler... Etc. Remember last year when all the major rivers in the N Hemisphere dried up? If it was just the Yangtze, or just the Mississippi, it would have been note worthy. But it was nearly all the major water ways that dried up. From Europe to Russia, N America to Asia, all the watershed's saw major disruptions to the expected rainfall amounts. Last spring and summer also so severe flooding and drought, in places we weren't expecting to see it. This year it's happening again. Although it's beginning earlier in the year, which doesn't bode well for those in these areas. Buckle up, it's going to be a bumpy ride. One that may take a couple years to shift back to normal.

And as a smoker I have a unique snapshot of every single days weather, as I only smoke outdoors. This winter was cold. And not just unusually cold but unusually consistent in the frequency of cold days. Typically I'll only need to bundle up for a couple days at a time before I'm back in a t-shirt and jeans. This year, starting well before Halloween which is exceedingly rare, I was bundled up _every single day_ from then until just a few days ago. There may have been a day here and there where it was warmish, but never more than two days in a row. Typically it's the other way around. And, yes, this is just my anecdotal observation of my region. But you can't look past the fact that we are getting reports from every corner of the globe that paint a similar picture of disequilibrium in the weather patterns. Places that would normally see warm weather are cold, wet weather are dry, and so forth. Time will tell as to how long it will all last. But the initial estimates I read of 1 to 3 years for the most dramatic effects, and 5 to 7 additional years for the water vapor levels to return to normal are looking more and more realistic. And there is always the chance things don't shift back 100%. A region that hadn't seen rain in millennia may green up enough that it keeps drawing moisture in, changing the overall makeup of regional weather patterns. Although the last part is highly contested, there is a lot we didn't expect was possible from this eruption that _did_ end up happening that would lend me to think we should at least explore the possibilities.
Im praying people will stop being the walking dead and realize our government is causing the weather with thier weather manipulation. Look up people they are dosing us passenger and cargo planes dont go that fast or fly that high. Look on apps that show flight activity. Non off those planes spraying chemicals are on all others are. WAKE UP

It rained all day yesterday and into the night. I made a point of going out twice and getting wet. It's not raining right now and I'm depressed. We get so little rain here it's a wonderful thing!
I remember a couple years ago when it rained after wildfires here in Oregon, it felt so good to just be outside in it, even tho it was humid, it was still refreshing
I tell people there is no drought because newsom let’s all this water go out to ocean on top of that farmers aren’t allowed to pump this flood water into the aquifers around
When I was a kid back in the late 60s, this happen more often. My Dad use to take us out to watch the water flow. It was scary back then to see the power and speed of the rushing water.

That's life - living in a riverbed. I lived in the Hemet San Jacinto valley California 1965 to 1987. Every once in a while the San Jacinto river would return to is normal course - through town.
For ten years california has been in drought. They are finally getting the water they need, all at once. Now they need to learn water management in the event of another drought.
I so agree. Ca hasn't done anything about water management and this Govenor needs to stand up and do his job. We need water control and homeless programs!!!!!
They're just going to build 10 more shopping malls, 5 high-rise apartments, 7 golf courses, and then tell all who live there to conserve their water and limit the charging on their electric vehicles
These rivers have flooded before. If you search records you can find it. Complacency is the issue. It has not happened in a while so we forget that it can and now we build right on top of it with zero thoughts that it will come around again.
Let’s not forget the Oroville dam problem in 2017. It was fixin to burst! Over 100k people were evacuated in anticipation. Those spillways weren’t designed to be actually used. I mean, it’s California, c’mon now, they never get THAT wet…right?

I hate to say it but we got snowed in again in mt Shasta so more water is coming. We got a bit more than 18 inches I believe but it’s really really heavy snow the kind you really don’t want a lot of in a short time. We didn’t get any snow last year so I guess this is to make up for it. I hope everyone stays as safe as they can possibly. Please remember things can be replaced not people! ❤
They plan on starting to take the dams down Fri…good luck when the Klamath starts Tearing down the canyons ripping everything up along its way…40yrs now & younger generations are not aware of what that river used to do…it would change course 20miles in some places! Sadly most reservation lands are level with the river as well! I keep saying stop Dynamiting the salmon runs at the mouth of the Klamath River, stop over using Gill nets! Bring Iron Gate down 25’ build Artificial ladder with the boulders the salmon will find their way up & down during their runs! That’s been done in other areas & it works! Let Indians chose dates & areas they want to use guill nets, but regulated… the river Indians should not need to purchase fishing Licenses as long as they agree to the regulations stopping Dynamiting the mouth & overusing gillnets!
My parents live around round mountain and had close to 4ft and heavy rain fall washed it all out and then got more snow last night. Haven’t seen that much snow up there in a short time in a few years.
I have been to the Springville Rodeo event some years ago. A nice and safe community. this is torrential rains and a reminder to all of us that the nature is very powerrful.
It's not a dry river bed u idiot this river increased 50 fold in a matter of hours . The houses are back over a hundred feet from the river , source I live here .
Went through this about 25 years ago in Springville so its nothing new. We're a hardy lot and we'll survive. Remember the Paradise fire? that came to the edge of town. Up here we got each others back.
River front property always has this risk. Hopefully they required flood insurance. Hope the pet's and people got out. That's called flash flooding here.

California is not in a tree shortage. It never has been and never will be. The water is needed even if floods happen. Trees will regrow for free. The rest will be expensive unfortunately.
As far as the Kern river is concerned, the water does not flow into the ocean. It's the river to nowhere. It flows into the San Joaquin Valley and soaks into the ground, recharging aquifers.
Back in the 1800s the Kern, among others, flowed to Tulare Lake and every so many years it overflowed north to the San Joaquin River. It has been over a century since that happened as all the water is used for irrigation. So much ground water has been pumped that the lake bed has dropped thirty feet. The groundwater is beginning to salt. It isn't yet a problem but something will have to be done or the southwestern part of the valley won't be available for farming.
Major rainfall events were recorded, on the entire West Coast, in the years after the Krakatoa eruption in 1883. The Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haʻapai eruption is considered as large or larger than Krakatoa and it blew in Jan of '22. This massive event was basically ignored by the main stream media, other than a 2 minute report and then forgotten. imo, This was done on purpose to allow for a "catastrophic climate change" news story now. All that EXTRA water vapor came from somewhere, and all roads lead to Tonga.

Agreed ... also Geo-Magnetic Poles are in the process of flipping/reversing. Been ongoing for 150 years. Loss of field strength also means loss of cohesive jet streams, hence the dramatic temperature swings.

I`m sorry to say that this isn`t even the worst of it yet, all that snow in the mountains is about to start melting and when it does it`s going to be a lot worse.
The state and federal agencies have flood maps that clearly delineate the areas that will be impacted by 50 and 100 year storm events. If you choose to build structures in these areas you will eventually experience flooding. No one should be surprised when this happens! Tragic- absolutely. Preventable - absolutely.

Since Springville is so far inland, the water will mostly end up in the underground aquifers (natural underground water). One thing to consider: Does all this underground water contribute to earthquakes? Will all this water help to 'lubricate' the faults that run up and down the state? Will LA and San Francisco have 'an event' soon? Don't be very surprised if 'the big one' is helped along by all this liquification of the land. With all the water thrown into the air by the volcanic eruption in Tonga last January, which hit Calif and fueled the Pineapple Express of Jan and now again, we might be in for a wild ride (Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haʻapai eruption). We are but mere specks in the overall scheme of things......

If moist upper level conditions hitch a ride on the jetstream, they end up somewhere --- ie as they are exactly doing right now. The last few weeks of cold were due to the high pressure from the north pushing its way down all the way to San Diego. That has lessened and now we ARE getting the warm moist air from the Pacific. Our temps have risen many degrees and the rain is melting the snow. Is any of this coming from Tonga? Is there anything still going on with that volcanic eruption? Probably not, but that IS the way weather works. PS: I love your picture! I was a part of the 60's revolution and I used to grow my own. It is all Mother Nature at its best!

California is pretty much a desert 🏜️ and the water will be gone quickly. Shallow flooding may be a huge inconvenience, but quickly remedied, with a little bit of patience.
Yes, most of California is an irrigated desert. I get tired of media and government, same thing I know, whining about drought drought drought. It just doesn't rain much in desert areas and then you can have flooding when mother nature catches up on watering the land.

We need more rain and more flood. It will be beneficial to the environment, even at the cost of damage and destruction, it will be worth it in the long run.
Are you a house owner? If this happen to your own house you would not say that. I prefer spread out the rain throughout the year so it would not damage property and hurt lives. Too much rain at one time is not good

Actually, they capture the water and use it for irrigation before it reaches Lake Tulare. Most years the floor of the lake is plowed and planted. In extremely wet years the lake, which is surrounded by levees, fills up. In exceedingly wet years, after the lake fills, Corcoran floods. Theoretically, Waukena could temporarily be beach front property as the water gets high enough to flow north to the San Joaquin River.

I was up at my mom's house on Monday she lives in Springville I spent a half a day digging out all the ditches and getting all the trash and cleaning out drains cuz I knew the storm was coming, going to try to get to Springville today and see if the house is still there when I talk to the next door neighbor Garrett he said the water was right up to the house now that's pretty deep that means the water that's going by the house is probably about 6 ft deep and 40 ft wide it can come up pretty fast because of all the hills and the snow was melting but we've been getting some clear weather so hopefully the water will subside I'll have to go probably back through Strathmore sometimes there's a detour back in there because there's flooding by the California Aqueduct I can usually get through I got a big old Ford truck keep a shovel in the back, I'll have to go check on the neighbors make sure everybody's okay see if there's anything I can do to help anyway God bless everybody and stay dry all I can say this is the time that Americans need to pull together not only for natural disasters but for the disaster that we see in the White House as great Americans we all need to pull together . 🗽🇺🇲

Yes, the moisture was much needed, but it's tough on the people losing their homes.
We feel this way in some areas in SoCal. It is dessert like and my plants need water.

There is a dam and resevoir to capture all this water, Lake Success. But these folks are in the area just above/before that.

Unfortunately, it is not. Trees are falling victim to mudslides and rapid root rot. Too much water is just as bad as not enough water.
California is not in a tree shortage. It never has been and never will be. The water is needed even if floods happen. Trees will regrow for free. The rest will be expensive unfortunately.

This is a good example of why you do not build on a flood plain.
Yet people will rebuild and even more closer to the main channel.
Sometimes it’s not even that. It hasn’t rained like that in so long, it wasn’t a flood plain, but now it should be.
The crazy thing is they warned this would happen. But you see camping trailers parked in the park, being flooded.
As far as the Kern river is concerned, the water does not flow into the ocean. It's the river to nowhere. It flows into the San Joaquin Valley and soaks into the ground, recharging aquifers.
Back in the 1800s the Kern, among others, flowed to Tulare Lake and every so many years it overflowed north to the San Joaquin River. It has been over a century since that happened as all the water is used for irrigation. So much ground water has been pumped that the lake bed has dropped thirty feet. The groundwater is beginning to salt. It isn't yet a problem but something will have to be done or the southwestern part of the valley won't be available for farming.
Major rainfall events were recorded, on the entire West Coast, in the years after the Krakatoa eruption in 1883.
The Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haʻapai eruption is considered as large or larger than Krakatoa and it blew in Jan of '22.
This massive event was basically ignored by the main stream media, other than a 2 minute report and then forgotten.
imo, This was done on purpose to allow for a "catastrophic climate change" news story now.
All that EXTRA water vapor came from somewhere, and all roads lead to Tonga.

Agreed ... also Geo-Magnetic Poles are in the process of flipping/reversing. Been ongoing for 150 years. Loss of field strength also means loss of cohesive jet streams, hence the dramatic temperature swings.

I`m sorry to say that this isn`t even the worst of it yet, all that snow in the mountains is about to start melting and when it does it`s going to be a lot worse.
The state and federal agencies have flood maps that clearly delineate the areas that will be impacted by 50 and 100 year storm events. If you choose to build structures in these areas you will eventually experience flooding. No one should be surprised when this happens! Tragic- absolutely. Preventable - absolutely.

Since Springville is so far inland, the water will mostly end up in the underground aquifers (natural underground water). One thing to consider: Does all this underground water contribute to earthquakes? Will all this water help to 'lubricate' the faults that run up and down the state? Will LA and San Francisco have 'an event' soon? Don't be very surprised if 'the big one' is helped along by all this liquification of the land. With all the water thrown into the air by the volcanic eruption in Tonga last January, which hit Calif and fueled the Pineapple Express of Jan and now again, we might be in for a wild ride (Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haʻapai eruption). We are but mere specks in the overall scheme of things......

@@itsboroth5289 Since the volcanic activity was a year ago and we were still quite dry at that time, I might concede your point. But I would NOT be so sure of yourself. If moist upper level conditions hitch a ride on the jetstream, they end up somewhere --- ie as they are exactly doing right now. The last few weeks of cold were due to the high pressure from the north pushing its way down all the way to San Diego. That has lessened and now we ARE getting the warm moist air from the Pacific. Our temps have risen many degrees and the rain is melting the snow. Is any of this coming from Tonga? Is there anything still going on with that volcanic eruption? Probably not, but that IS the way weather works. PS: I love your picture! I was a part of the 60's revolution and I used to grow my own. It is all Mother Nature at its best!

California is pretty much a desert 🏜️ and the water will be gone quickly. Shallow flooding may be a huge inconvenience, but quickly remedied, with a little bit of patience.
Yes, most of California is an irrigated desert. I get tired of media and government, same thing I know, whining about drought drought drought. It just doesn't rain much in desert areas and then you can have flooding when mother nature catches up on watering the land.

Are you a house owner? If this happen to your own house you would not say that. I prefer spread out the rain throughout the year so it would not damage property and hurt lives. Too much rain at one time is not good

Used to be a huge lake in the central valley that captured all of that flood water but they drained it
Actually, they capture the water and use it for irrigation before it reaches Lake Tulare. Most years the floor of the lake is plowed and planted. In extremely wet years the lake, which is surrounded by levees, fills up. In exceedingly wet years, after the lake fills, Corcoran floods. Theoretically, Waukena could temporarily be beach front property as the water gets high enough to flow north to the San Joaquin River.

We did. And it is built already. Lake Success will capture all of it. These folks, unfortunately, live above that resevoir and dam.
Im shocked seeing the Kern River like this i got many friends in the area. My heart goes out to those affected. This is beyond belief seeing mother nature roar.
I was up at my mom's house on Monday she lives in Springville I spent a half a day digging out all the ditches and getting all the trash and cleaning out drains cuz I knew the storm was coming, going to try to get to Springville today and see if the house is still there when I talk to the next door neighbor Garrett he said the water was right up to the house now that's pretty deep that means the water that's going by the house is probably about 6 ft deep and 40 ft wide it can come up pretty fast because of all the hills and the snow was melting but we've been getting some clear weather so hopefully the water will subside I'll have to go probably back through Strathmore sometimes there's a detour back in there because there's flooding by the California Aqueduct I can usually get through I got a big old Ford truck keep a shovel in the back, I'll have to go check on the neighbors make sure everybody's okay see if there's anything I can do to help anyway God bless everybody and stay dry all I can say this is the time that Americans need to pull together not only for natural disasters but for the disaster that we see in the White House as great Americans we all need to pull together .
