Hard to believe 4 people can make such an elaborate sound. Saw them twice and I got a photo with Joe. Probably my favorite band ever and it’s not even close. Buy every album.
I liked their other stuff, but they needed some clarity and some melody to really bring out the best parts of his song writing, and they fucking nailed it with this album. And that keyboard sounding like a tripped out second guitarist? Amazing.
I reaaaallly love the lead singer man! He's like a cross between Steve Malkmus and Rivers Cuomo! Really brittle fragile yet child-like and passionate voice. Imma check this band out, any recommendations for their best releases?
Pretty good but I really just don't like it when the singer goes to the low gravelly voice. When he goes big it's great but the breathy thing doesn't sound very natural for him.
+jackbaradog I was reading about the Smashing Pumpkins one time. The writer said a good singer must fit one criterion: his/her voice must do exactly what he/she wants it to. It may not be your style, but Joe has a fantastic, versatile voice.
+jackbaradog you know what, you might be on to something - I saw them open for the Thermals in Ithaca back in 2010 and he definitely sounded like a 7 year old

Jackson is an absolutely fantastic opening track!

Um still listening and feel like I have to give another comment about how great and weirdly special this band seems to me. ahhh, fantastic!
Still listening now, great performance!
That dudes high end vocals are so badass
Their song "Warning" is free on Google Play Music. Download it while you can. That is how I came across their music. Great band.
Wow, finally I have discovered something good
Wow, really didn't expect them to sound THIS GREAT live! Fuckin aye!

Lead singer is the man! love how he slides easily from low and rugged to high pitch...they kinda remind of weezer but...better. with a punch

Joe is the best living songwriter.
Great performance. I'm trying to play Jackson on piano.
Wow. This almost sounds better than the album.
Boards of Canada sticker on the keyboard, nice
Fuck yes.
this showed up in my recommendations yesterday, before the seattle 7-11 shooting.
Good drummer
I might open up for them in a month :,)
Dope skillz, cool dudes taboot
very weezer. love it.
I LOVE FUZZ STICKER!!!!
Not sure if you're aware, but that keyboard player makes pedals as SmallSound/BigSound. Great fuzz
His voice sounds like a Kinsella. Nice!
Does anyone know what Bass guitar is been played ? Fender Precision ? Awesome sound !!
looks like a g&l, my man
Robert Smith
3:12 suggests a Fender neck, but body and pick ups look G&L
It is probably Fender Blacktop Precision Bass^^
asparaable
I think your spot on .. Thanks you !!
Such a tight band.
at the drive in
Anyone know what effects he's using @ 4:40?
i dont think thats a specific single effect i believe its a combination of a distrotion pedal with lots of reverb
high distortion into very wet high feedback delay, good reverb and some EQ magic, like maybe a clean phaser on top of that
Pretty good but I really just don't like it when the singer goes to the low gravelly voice. When he goes big it's great but the breathy thing doesn't sound very natural for him.
... the only bad thing is the singer's voice
least enthusiastic KEXP mid-set interview, yikes
no hate but why does the singer sound like he just started puberty like last week
jackbaradog lots and lots and lots and lots of drugs
Rory Larsen - Barker Not really.
