This song is about Enrico Caruso who preceded Pavarotti and was considered the best tenor in the world. He toured America and on his return he learned he was dying at the age of 42. He had a young wife and a new daughter. The person wrote this imagining what Caruso would have sung to his wife about leaving her.

Nailed it. My father played this music as well as Caruso’s music when i was a kid. Caruso was incredible.

@@zippyzipster46 And the ironic part of him singing this is that he also died leaving a young wife and a new daughter when he was 71.

Not about leaving her. It is about knowing that he will soon die.

You are being led down the Pavarotti rabbit hole - he is considered to be one of the greatest tenors who ever lived (and in our lifetime!). He brought the opera world to the general public by leaving us 40 years of life-changing music. One of his last concerts was in NY Central Park and drew 500,000 people. The English captions are not always available but his voice and presence leaves you not being able to take your eyes off him. Did I see goosebumps?? Enjoy real music!!

The man also sang a duet at different times with other singers. He sang with the late great James Brown doing his song -- It's a Man's World, 🥰 on the other different occasions. He sang with Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin, Bryan Adams , and also some other people that I'm ashamed to say I can't remember who it was. But my point being the man was fantastic and he loved singing with other musical artist. He had a great love for all other kinds of music. But it always seemed like the GREAT ONES had a huge heart and where that way. The ones like that fill your heart and spirit and make you feel like you're lifted up. 😲😢😥 They make you feel like you can believe in the human race again. Please continue to enjoy this fine gentleman and the other artists that helps your spirits sore. ✨💫💫🌠God bless you and yours and keep On keepin On. Sending much love.❤❤❤❤❤

The writer of this song, Lucio Dalla, wrote this while staying in one of the rooms where Caruso spent the final days of his life. Caruso was 48-years-old when he died, and a few years before Caruso died, he married Dorothy Park Benjamin who was 20 years younger. They had a baby girl they named Gloria. Lucia Dalla wrote this song while imagining how Caruso, who knew he was dying, would have said goodbye to his young wife - the love of his life.

You can find almost any video with lyrics. Type in Pavorotti, the song you want to hear, and 'lyrics'. That's all. Take Nessun Dorma. If you listen to the video that EVERYBODY ELSE is watching, even that one has lyrics if you type lyrics in your search. BUT! That are so many videos from all the years that he performed Nessun Dorma, you can watch him perform at the Olympic closing ceremonies, you can see him performing in a movie when he was sooo young. You can hear him perform this song along with the composer, Lucia Dalla. My personal favorite is Paris 1998. I don't bother telling this to everyone, I'm telling you because I enjoyed your video because of the respectful way you listened. I'll give you two to listen to next because they are from the same opera. First: Vesti La Giubba (Put your costume on) and then No! Pagliachio Non-Sum! (No, I am not a clown!) Search for the videos posted by Mata Tosti, they will have the lyrics. Pagiachio is a professional clown, he has just learned that his wife is cheating on him. No! Pagliacio Non-Sum is the closing act which is absolutely stunning.

Obviously you don't know much about opera or classical music at all (that's not a moral statement, it's just fact. I don't know much about rock, rap, etc. but that doesn't make me a bad person nor does knowing opera make me a morally superior, it just makes me a fan). Anyhow, I love your genuine facial expressions and genuine appreciation for the masterpiece of human performance you're witnessing. Congrats!
