Rex we appreciate your clear master mooch ability to drink 13 whisk[e]ys back to back. Daniel should provide more "treats" as payment for your dedication to drink so many other whiskeys. Cheers.
The Teeling 24 finished in Sautuern cask, is a white dessert wine that is picked when the grapes have noble rot. Glenmorangie Nector d' Or is the same finish cask.
Whiskey Vault may not want to do 4 comparisons tasting and then shoot a week in 1 day. I don't know how you do it all in a day and 10 tastings. Douglas Laing has just put out a blended malt that are blends from Camballtown. Part of Scallywag, Rock Oyster, Epicurian and Jula 22 series of blended scotches. I may order the Laing Advent Calendar to try some of them.
By the way, a Sauternes isn't a red wine, it's a white dessert wine which is basically the opposite of a red (sweet, not tannin, etc) My favourite wine! Would love to try an whiskey aged in a Sauternes cask!
I have now seen every whisk(e)y review you Magnificent Bastards have made and I waited to comment until I’ve caught up and grown a bit in my skills at tasting and nosing. You’ve inspired me to go to the bar with the biggest and most beautiful whisky collection I’ve ever seen in Portland OR and successfully mooch the rest of a bottle of Auchentoshan American Oak while I was there taking notes on some of the whiskies I’ve been curious about and also that I’ve discovered on this channel because hey, it was almost empty anyway! I had a shelf in my closet that used to store my couple bottles and since starting watching you guys I’ve been shopping for a lovely hutch for the bottles I’ve acquired since. #RexWeek #TeamCookie
Whiskey Vault I went to Paydirt ( right next door to the best fried chicken sandwich I’ve ever had, by the way ). The Multnomah Whisky Library wasn’t open Sunday. I live a few hours south of Portland and I get up there fairly often so it’s on my list of whisky adventure destinations!
Went to Ireland last year on my honeymoon and spent most of the time drinking the Guinness. I wasn't into whiskey at all when I went but on a whim, I bought a bottle of Teeling single malt in the duty free store on the way home. Anyway, I got home and had a little bit of it...still wasn't feeling it. So it sat in a cabinet for almost a year. Then I was cleaning out said cabinet last week and found it again. I poured a dram that evening and needless to say the bottle was gone by the weekend! I stumbled on your channel while looking up reviews and I can definitely say I've got a new hobby (to go with all the other dozen or so hobbies I already have!). I re-upped on my Teeling single malt and just picked up a bottle of Glennmorangie 10yr that I am digging as well (though still partial to Teeling)...Anyway, your content is amazing and I'm looking forward on endless tastings in the future based off your videos!
So, I apparently was recommended by one of my coworkers to go to Canada for a few days for my job. Does it count as mooching if I agree to go on this trip(which I would be getting paid extra for) only so I can use any free time there to try to find and buy one of the mythical amazing Canadian whiskys?
Oh, that's too bad. I'm not sure Ontario is the worst province for whisky but it's certainly on of the most expensive. Check out the LCBO site: www.lcbo.com/content/lcbo/en.html#.WfJgt4hlDIU I like the Wiser's Legacy and the Wiser's 18yo but I'm sure there's some folk here from Ontario who may give you a heads up on what to get.
i have allways wondered what a whiskey finnished in rum barrels and now i know some one did it i need it in my life please find a way to import that wonder gift of the gods
Keep it up you guys, loving the channel. I now know how to buy my whisk(e)y! Found out I am a sucker for the honey and sweet notes, the peat is a bit much for me! Plus the Glencairn cups rule! Thanks for the recommendations! You guys are awesome!
Daniel I would appreciate doing a review of the Singleton, I had it one time and I can't find it anywhere. I thought it was amazing, also any tips on finding it would be great.
You're damn right I'm number 1! We all know quantity wins out ovet variety everytime! I have been noticing the number of Magnificent Bastards trying to be Whiskey Saints though. I think another box needs to be sent just to cement my place.
So we've discussed how to "neutralise" your smelling sense (by sniffing your own scent), and now I wonder how to "neutralise" your tasting sense. You've said it yourself, that when drinking different whiskys back to back, you will get different experiences compared to drinking them "isolated". What do you think, is drinking water an effective method, or do you know any other ways to do it?
Daniel what does that star above your medallion mean? i remember noticing it like 30 episodes ago for the first time. I just watched a much older video of yours in the early days of this channel and it wasn't there.
Is there a typical length of time for a finishing? I'm going to assume the answer is "it varies from whiskey to whiskey," but is there a general typical length? 6 months or 1 year or longer? Or less?
Thank you for the American Pie reference. It was where my brain went, too :-D I did a tasting yesterday that included Glenlivet 12. After trying a couple of the other offerings (Auchentoshan 12 and Old Pulteney 12) I went back to to the Glenlivet and it smelled so much like a crisp Moscato...even tasted a bit like it. (Like the new name badging...very bold!)
Hi guys :) I’ve just finished watching this video. At the end of the video, with the Hyde #4 that you break out, you had mentioned a bunch of stuff like “presidents barrel “, single barrel, ect. For a newbie like myself, what on earth does that mean? Is it a form of an age statement, is it a form of marketing and PR or what? As an idea, why not have a go at premixed drinks, for example “jack and coke cans”, “Canadian club and dry cans / bottles” ect Thanks for the video :)
Loved the Riley shout out! It was magnificent. :) Ancient Ancient Age will be perfect for Rex Week. Perhaps a trio of Ancient Age, Triple A, and some other boom sauce like and JW Dant. Yeah, for Rex Week.
Hey new to the channel. I was just going through your backlog and wasn't able to find it, but if you haven't already, would you be able to do a review of Eagle Rare. It's the bourbon that got me into the whisky world.
Hey guys when would be best to visit the vault? I can't really find what time would be optimal to take a look at the campus on the website. I'd love to visit as I'm in the area
hi guys, love all of your videos..Pewdiepie just made another video about Irish whiskey in which he introduced a 100 years old Irish whiskey named Kilvannon, would it be possible for you to review the same kind of whiskey, thanks a lot in advance and i wish you all the success in your new distillery.
Yea. Don't lose the "magnificent bastard" skit. Haha. Keep it fresh!! Love it. Watch nearly everyday. When (can't find it in your posted vids) are you going to sip some Clynelish? Enlighten me! It's my first single malt. Had an Oban 14 recently. It was amazing. ...also... fu**in Deanston right there. ...WHY??
Gentlemen, what is your absolute favourite Irish whiskey, what is your absolute favourite scotch & although they may be infinitely different, how do they compare as far as quality is concerned?
I just can't get into Irish whisky, I love Islay and Campbeltown scotches and my love of whisky started with bourbons and ryes it just seems like I'm taking a step down in flavor with Irish whisky. Could just be my taste buds.
This is a very drunk comment. SOS just drank upwards of 30 different whiskies and spent waaay too much money. The Arran 10 yr, strathisla 12yr and Jameson crested. Plus Johnnie walker red rye finish.
My husband has been getting more and more interested in the art of whiskey. I always made a goofy face from across the room when he opened a bottle because it smells SO strong. He recently offered me my first sip of whiskey ever: LAPHROAIG! It was like a campfire for my taste buds!! I've since been sneaking sips when he pours himself a little in the evenings. I still don't know if I love it... Interested in venturing into it though! What's a good, wimpy-wifey-whiskey for beginners?
Oh man, you started with gold. :-) Maybe try a lighter Speyside or Highland? Glenfarclas 10 or 12, etc. If you like a bit of smoke, start with Highland Park 12.
would be so awesome to see you guys try other spirits other then whisk(ey) even if on another channel and maybe not as proffessionals (not knowing how much you know about other spirits.
ok.. i know from when we had wine tastings before, i always thought it was a sweet dessert type wine. will have to tell my ex about the other two. me, I like a merlot or anything that goes well with steak and onions.
Terry Bradford its a sweet wine, but not quite a dessert wine. I also like Merlot, Cabernet and Malbec more. With some red meat they are awesome. If you like Merlot, try an Argentinian Malbec from Mendoza, you will love it.
I think you were looking for muscato wine? Desert wine. My wife and I both really enjoy the vibe of your videos. Headed to WhiskyFest in NYC...Nov 16th. You have helped us focus our booth rounding big time! Thank you! PS. Wife wants to come on your show...you can check out her website at suzirawda.com
i bet at least half are ai.. if you look at the views, most videos are only a few thousand views, yes i know a lot of people sub and dont actually watch but still 40k subbs with only a few thousand views dosent add up lol
Hi guys, Sauternes is a dessert wine not a red wine! The only better choice would be a Hungarian Tokaj wine cask.
I love the show BTW!
YES. I forgot that as we were shooting. I have a few bottles of Tokaj in the cellar here at the school
Rex we appreciate your clear master mooch ability to drink 13 whisk[e]ys back to back. Daniel should provide more "treats" as payment for your dedication to drink so many other whiskeys. Cheers.
I have a bottle of that 24 year, and I think it's one of the best bottles of anything I have ever had. Probably top in my collection.
The Teeling 24 finished in Sautuern cask, is a white dessert wine that is picked when the grapes have noble rot. Glenmorangie Nector d' Or is the same finish cask.
yes! brain fart. Live shooting, minimal editing.

Please do a list for peated whisk(e)y beginner to advanced. Also what would be good intro into single malt scotch?
By the way, a Sauternes isn't a red wine, it's a white dessert wine which is basically the opposite of a red (sweet, not tannin, etc)
My favourite wine! Would love to try an whiskey aged in a Sauternes cask!
Those crickets and that cutaway was a work of genius
Agreed. And Riley's tribute. Well done, Chad!!
MAGNIFICENT RILEY!
if i ever send in a bottle i want that video clip!!! Had me dying laughing!
John Peterson it certainly was magnificent :-)
I was about to suggest categorizing videos into type of whiskey... but God bless your soul you've done it. Keep up the good work., and you too Dan.

Heck yes! Was it the Multnomah Whisky Library?

absolutely
Canada is a big place. Where are you going exactly?
The Canadian facility for the company is in Orangeville, Ontario
Oh, that's too bad. I'm not sure Ontario is the worst province for whisky but it's certainly on of the most expensive. Check out the LCBO site:

charlie.g.hague you sir are a gentleman and a scholar.
So we've discussed how to "neutralise" your smelling sense (by sniffing your own scent), and now I wonder how to "neutralise" your tasting sense. You've said it yourself, that when drinking different whiskys back to back, you will get different experiences compared to drinking them "isolated".
What do you think, is drinking water an effective method, or do you know any other ways to do it?
water, bread, anything that can soak up remaining oils, etc.
Daniel what does that star above your medallion mean? i remember noticing it like 30 episodes ago for the first time. I just watched a much older video of yours in the early days of this channel and it wasn't there.
It designates level 3 sommelier
Is there a typical length of time for a finishing? I'm going to assume the answer is "it varies from whiskey to whiskey," but is there a general typical length? 6 months or 1 year or longer? Or less?
Depending on weather and what was previously in the barrel it can range from a month to years
yeah for Riley
Teeling's Brabazon is a third the price of the 24yr on Masters of malt! Perhaps the choice is made?
Sauterne RED?
Its a desert white damnit
Excellent Radiohead reference!!! You guys are lucky, I tried to order some Brabazon and was told it was not released in the United States
Thank you for the American Pie reference. It was where my brain went, too :-D
I did a tasting yesterday that included Glenlivet 12. After trying a couple of the other offerings (Auchentoshan 12 and Old Pulteney 12) I went back to to the Glenlivet and it smelled so much like a crisp Moscato...even tasted a bit like it.

You guys were thinking of Moscato.
Love you guys and all you do, currently cultivating a few whisk(e)y drinking budies. 18yo In England
how long do we have to wait for your response to the new Pewdiepie whiskey vid? :D
We decided to hold off on this one :-)
:'( I really wanted to hear what you guys think about that last bottle :)
Yeah! You guys should at least comment on it..!
(〒︿〒)
Whiskey Vault what about that 100 year old mcallan
"Magnificent Riley" was awesome!!!!! Way to go guys!
Are there any whiskies available that are the same whiskey but different barrel char? Or different ages? Imagine that as a trio
Maybe similar to the difference between Woodford and Double Oaked?
Even if they're not significantly dissimilar or otherwise remarkable, it would be an interesting exercise for palate training.
Hi guys :)
I’ve just finished watching this video. At the end of the video, with the Hyde #4 that you break out, you had mentioned a bunch of stuff like “presidents barrel “, single barrel, ect. As an idea, why not have a go at premixed drinks, for example “jack and coke cans”, “Canadian club and dry cans / bottles” ect
Thanks for the video :)
small correction is that a Sauternes is a white grape variety.
Yes! this is what happens when I make shit up and we don't edit
Sauternes is an area, not a variety.
Loved the Riley shout out! It was magnificent. :) Ancient Ancient Age will be perfect for Rex Week. Perhaps a trio of Ancient Age, Triple A, and some other boom sauce like and JW Dant. Yeah, for Rex Week.
When you guys talk about these "nodes" is there any proof these nodes exist or do we just take your word for it?
Dude! You guys are awesome! TOTALLY had the desired affect! The Magnificent Riley was above and beyond! Well done and thanks!!
Sorry about the single "G" :-) But you guys are awesome
We blame chad
Hey new to the channel. I was just going through your backlog and wasn't able to find it, but if you haven't already, would you be able to do a review of Eagle Rare. It's the bourbon that got me into the whisky world.
Hey guys when would be best to visit the vault? I can't really find what time would be optimal to take a look at the campus on the website. I'd love to visit as I'm in the area
between 9am and 5pm, Mon-Fri. Email me. We can work out a time. daniel at whiskymarketing dot org
Whiskey Vault thank you good sirs!
Biercée rye whiskey from Belgium... it just came out yesterday, I'll be tasting it soon since I had friends at the released party :)
could you guys please try haig club single??
Why not make rum to then make whisky in said barrels?
Keep sharing the love gents! The world is a happier place drinking whisk(e)y. Time for a pilgrimage!
Teeling has a rum cask finish
hi guys, love all of your videos..Pewdiepie just made another video

steak puns are a rare medium well done
Sausage jokes are the wurst though.
Is it me or is the coyote/wolf smoking the cigar backwards? Great job by all the crew as always!
I’m yelling at the screen
MOSCATO, MOSCATO!!!
would love to see a review on the Cosair Quinoa Whiskey
Moscato is the dessert wine.
Just in case you don't know yet... Stahl is German for Steel... make out of that what you want ;)
Daniel likes Radiohead!!!!!
New reason to like you!
Connoisseur of whisky in music
That Riley came seriously unexpected. Well done Chad I fell out of my chair.
Yea. Don't lose the "magnificent bastard" skit. Haha. Keep it fresh!! Love it. Watch nearly everyday. When (can't find it in your posted vids) are you going to sip some Clynelish? Enlighten me! Moscato? Marsala?

Poor Riley! LoL
Moscato?
Ha Riley just got properly called out! Loving the animations for that one :P
This is a very drunk comment. SOS just drank upwards of 30 different whiskies and spent waaay too much money. The Arran 10 yr, strathisla 12yr and Jameson crested. Plus Johnnie walker red rye finish.
they guys - Sauternes are white dessert wines.
yes. complete flub on memory on that one.
Moscato Daniel!
Thumbs up! Thankfully Ireland isn't brexiting so I have more confidence on their booze prices remaining reasonable.
whats the riff from in the magnificent bastard celebration?
My husband has been getting more and more interested in the art of whiskey. I always made a goofy face from across the room when he opened a bottle because it smells SO strong. i about shit myself when rex said 'milk?'
Congrats on the 40k!

would be so awesome to see you guys try other spirits other then whisk(ey) even if on another channel and maybe not as proffessionals (not knowing how much you know about other spirits.
Moscato
Terry Bradford not a dessert wine. They are either looking for Moscatel or Marsala
ok.. i know from when we had wine tastings before, i always thought it was a sweet dessert type wine. will have to tell my ex about the other two. me, I like a merlot or anything that goes well with steak and onions.
Terry Bradford its a sweet wine, but not quite a dessert wine. I also like Merlot, Cabernet and Malbec more. With some red meat they are awesome. If you like Merlot, try an Argentinian Malbec from Mendoza, you will love it.
Malvasia and fortified Malvasia wines, such as Madeira and Malmsey, are a popular family of dessert and fortified wines that all start with M.
Moscato, Seriously? You couldn't think of that? Sorry for the shade
hahahaha. I know. I could even imagine the taste of it...
Whiskey Vault sounds more like you meant Moscatel or Marsala
two dessert white wines: moscato and reisling
Wait Rex has a job? i thought he was some bum on the streets you helping out.
You can see Daniels brain ooze out of his nose after he smelled the 4th one.
Great Radio Head reference! lol
Riley, tell him "Waldo shirt and glasses"
yup, officially pissed. Pissed and jealous!
Mmmm whisky
That’s 24 year teeling won the best whiskey in the world this week
You guys make any gasoline shot day into a 50 year old whisk[e]y dram day. =)
Cmon #RexWeek
This embarrassment shoutout thing has potential!
Great review guys!! Love you guys! Pewdiepie review in the works :)?

OMG.. i wouldn be surprise if tomoorrow this cute handsome guys make a video talking about a new pewd's Video! :3 ... im loving this channel :**
Marsala
40k? Wow.
40K is quite the achievement, but I still think it's far too few for what this channel deserves. Give it more time and people will come around.
i bet at least half are ai.. if you look at the views, most videos are only a few thousand views, yes i know a lot of people sub and dont actually watch but still 40k subbs with only a few thousand views dosent add up lol
Obviously a mooch move. We're lookin at you Rex.
