I work in a small software company that makes useless products and services. Apparently our CEO(non-tech) was amazed when no one was buying our products . We were a team of 5 developers and our work was distributed into maintaining/developing 5 products. In May , our self proclaimed CEO laid off 3 employees without giving them appropriate time to share what they had worked on. Now since we don't have any knowledge on how those things are working he is angry on us that we're not able to complete the development in those specific products. Also he comes up with new product ideas every 15 days. Last month he came with a idea of developing a CRM, this month he wants to develop an AI chatbot. Also he doesn't want to spend a penny into acquiring subscriptions/ necessary staff for developing products. I am leaving this place.
I’ve had jobs in intel, cyber, construction, warehouses, restaurants and the one thing I’ve learned is most jobs are not hard. The people are hard. A lot of people are job scared and essentially any job everyone thinks the other people don’t really work. Personally I like sales and piece work. Anything that rewards you for your performance vs say construction if you’re someone that likes to plan ahead and keep clean detailed prints many people will see that as wasting time vs just doing the work even when you’re doing 20,000sqft< properties lol
Not sure what you were talking about when you were comparing whatever it is that you like to do with construction I had no idea what you’re trying to say
I am not seeing college degree requirements anymore. Which sucks, because I have two applicable master's degrees. All I see are 5+, 7+, 10+ years of experience in the specific role. Even when I meet all the requirements, I rarely get an interview.
WATCH OUT FOR AI…..Now it’s reversed about 10 years ago it was college degree required. I had the 7+ years underwriting experience no college…its really a crapshoot they just laid off 200 ppl globally, at my current employer many in the NYC office were 50+ in the last decade of working…worked up to a skilled position now replaced with AI
We spend money on companies that don’t even want to pay enough tax to give back to the country that benefits them. Can we collectively as a consumer let these faceless companies fail?

No, it's time to drain the swamp and stop the bs. Gov't better stop spending mindlessly and stop printing money. The people better wake up. A black swan event is coming.
All I know is that with what is coming, if you can at least secure 1 remote job or get a very simple remote business going, and move overseas and open up some bank accounts over there to spread things around, you should be able to ride out what is about to happen in either another depression or ww3. Just choose the safe places like Panama or Thailand. If you choose to stay in America, buy land, grow your own food immediately, get some guns, find a way to get self sustainable water sources either by river, rain collection, or atmospheric water generators, and definitely build a bunker, it's gonna get bad.
If America goes down, we all go down. If there was a WW3, who would we even be fighting??? If the answer is anything other than nukes, it's pure fantasy.
In the video there is a stat: 1/3 of employer avoid hiring recent grad. I’ll bet you that stat increases for age 50+. It certainly feels like no employers will hire anyone over 50. It’s not a skills issue, the underlining issue is ageism - young and old are being squeezed out in this market.
I’ve wondered if the corporations are close to switching over to more AI and robotics. This is exactly the way you would do it, don’t tell your employees prematurely because they would end up leaving before you no longer needed them and better yet, wait for a recession so you have a reason to cover your butt.
One of reasons recent graduate cannot find job is that what they learn from college and universities is already obsolete time of their graduation. The schools cannot keep up speed. I know many schools recommend internship while students are still in school but i don't think that is not much help .For example, University of Waterloo in Canada this school almost force sudents go to internship every schools year. Since there is no change in teaching method in school. I mean some professors need to be fired and hire young and flexible Also I do think we don't need teach everything to students because of widely use of AI and automation,we need to be selective
I’ve seen job openings that I definitely qualify for, except when it comes to “bonus/preferred” qualifications like certifications or experience in some obscure program they use. Like oh, I’m sorry that I didn’t have the time nor money to invest in certs that simply confirm that I know what I’m doing, just so that your algorithms don’t immediately chuck my application out the window.
A few times i hunted for a job i was confident i could do and grow into and out of, i pumped the brakes when they wanted more than what i consider fair. Interview portfolio, plan of action, then they eanted even more. They were essentially making me work for free! I was just testing the waters, so i decliend to continue. They had more than enough to know i was a good fit a d desicated to the role, but they are such scam artist these days! Hell, prolly always but it seems much worse.
I think there is a focus on the wrong thing. There should be a minimum annual wage set based on schooling. Like $65k for associates, and 80k for bachelor’s degrees. This would weed out a number of employers putting out bad job ads. I would honestly make those minimums higher due to col in the most expensive state. Enabling the ability to move if needed. Employers aren’t willing to pay the money a college graduate should receive for the amount of time and money spent on a degree. These employers have no business in the economy if they can’t afford to pay properly. People don’t live to work. They work to live.
Companies are getting outrageous. I see entry level jobs that read like they want someone halfway through their career. They are labeling the job as Jr to justify lower pay range.
They mention line managers not being able to lay out job requirements? It's the exact opposite. Recruiters don't understand the jobs, so make up requirements. IME anyway. Or, for example, they over-weigh agreeableness when you need to be aggressive in the role.
When I watch these videos and read the comments, they never get specific about what kind of jobs they are talking about. Or what kind of jobs they are applying for. So it all seems like BS to me. College is a farce and has been for decades unless you want to be a docotr lawyer engineer, etc that requires book learning. What I see as the truth, is that people looking for jobs dont want to take the ones that are available, or learn the skills required to get one of the available jobs. There is a shortage of manual labor jobs. Landscapers, plumbers, carpenters, mechanics are all in high demand and pay has increased significantly in the past 4 years. All these people worked during covid, are essential, and empliyers were grateful to keep them working, and increased their pay to do so. This reset starting wages for entry level to much higher than pre covid levels. Entry level Landscapers with no experience are making mid $50k a year which comes with full benefits and paid vacations. But very few want to work in the weather, or get their hands dirty. Since covid our landscaping biz has doubked and so has our staff. None have college degrees. We hire in person. We train everyone we hire. Dont believe these stupid videos and think the world is doomed.
Skilled trade jobs are very easy to find. You get to pick what company you want to work for. If you are willing to do dangerous work in difficult conditions the paychecks are massive.
College degrees are now more of a social status rather than a golden ticket to a job these days. I am a double Major in economics and health science, and I’m now studying a certification for healthcare financial management, which doesn’t really require a degree, but my degree still gives me a good advantage in the future, but not with a 100% guarantee
You need to dumb down your résumé. I made that mistake too once you dumb down your résumé for the slow pay job. They will consider you but continue to reply to other places like hotels. They prefer that you apply in person so they can see what you look like
Companies stopped offering training because they didn't want to pay for it. Then they stopped offering full-time hours because they don't want to pay out benefits. Now they've cut positions and replaced them with AI where they can, with that trend only projected to continue upward in a multitude of fields and job functions, reducing the need for human labor. Combine all of that with the hiring of cheap labor overseas, or under the table in this country, in many industries, and the only full-time jobs left are (surprise, surprise) government jobs for parasitic "public servants" and bureaucrats.
I’m in construction and am busy, very well paid and AI cannot replace me. My daughter has 4 degrees including a masters in business and works in a big tech firm and I am more worried about her getting laid off.
Exactly. If I myself can’t live comfortably in this world, why would I want to place that burden onto my own kids? At least my cat doesn’t have to think about taxes or the housing market.
How can any of the statements made in this national news article be validated!! Not only is he making very broad generalizations about a bunch of companies he doesn't bother to name or numerate. . . He even tells us the reasoning behind the decisions made. . . How would he know that? Does nobody fact check the news. . . What happened to journalists
My workplace recently invested a lot offices in other countries and hire people overseas to cut the cost. I’m not really happy about the situation. My many of my coworkers got layoffs and I’m sure one day I will be next. This not good for US economy. Greedy from the corporate,
what we have here is bait and switch- job listing is great . salary is ok … BUT when you get in the position, somehow your workload doubles, and you wind up, taking on more responsibility than you signed up for. Translation it’s a two for the price of one. (meaning you are doing the job of two people for one salary.)
"Shortage of skilled workers" no this not true. Plenty of people have the "skills". Like what "skills" the corporate sector asking for? "interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written communication" "planning and organizational skills" Like come on stop lying 🤥
Until a recession hits and you’re no better off. Then interest rates go up and projects become cancelled do to risk. Then, the blue collar workers are left holding the bag.
I worked for an employer last year that point-blank stated that they would post bogus positions to see what kind of "bites" they would get from the postings. SMH, I decided it was time to terminate my relationship with this employer.
As technology gets better, you’re going to see less need for people to do things. Most of us have been seeing this for most of our lives. But instead of lowering the cost of living or decreasing the work week, they tell you it’s your fault for not wanting to be a full time plumber and electrician. (No disrespect to the hard and important work of plumbers and electricians)
It's not that it's hard to find a job it's that I can only do $15-16 dollar an hour work for so long. The higher paying jobs seem impossible. I keep fighting through so I can get one.
Like myself, more people need to find something that they love doing, come up with a clear and specific business plan step-by-step, and stick with that plan regardless of the difficulties/problems that come up. Create your own job(s).
Agree. Before it was get a 'practical' degree. Accounting, Nursing, Engineer. Those guys are burned out. You really got to create value to the general market and not necessarily to an employer. Unless you have a government job no one is safe, even that is not a guarantee.

People thought it was a blessing when employers focused on skills/experience over degrees. People found out that suddenly you were on your own with training and new grads had a horrible time landing a position. Yet, employers don’t want older workers. Then employers wonder why “no one wants to work anymore”.
I've been unemployed for months now. The job market is a joke. Seems like most employers don't want to train anyone and are asking for a degree, a license of some sort, or years of experience for positions a monkey could do. All it takes is one trip to Indeed to see this. On the other end, you have the ridiculous excuse of not being hired because you're "overqualified", which I'm starting to believe is code for "We are incompetent at our jobs and worry that hiring such a qualified person would put one of our positions at risk, so we'll be going with someone else". Although I have no college degree, I have corporate experience, custodial experience, warehouse experience, and military experience, yet I can't even get a call back from Walmart. Sorry, didn't know I needed a major in Nuclear Physics, CPR certification, and 5+ years of experience in retail to push shopping carts...
I’ve been unemployed for six months. Im financially falling apart. I do have two college degrees and just signed the paperwork on a supply chain job. Having a degree and experience is crucial in my field. Oddly enough, I applied to grocery stores and never heard back from anyone and i worked in them for years before going back to school.
@@AlbatrossWhisper Who cares you got a job now the job market is just crazy. Everyone’s experiences different. There could be a number of reasons why you didn’t get a call back. Maybe the manager is still on vacation or whatever or injured or maybe can’t run over by a truck and now his leg has to be amputated. He’s in the hospital I mean, why does it matter you got a job man and it’s good to share experiences and support other people who are looking for jobs jobs jobs
I don’t even look at what degree you got when hiring and I’m in finance. Most people are just average employees and they don’t realize it yet. Too competitive and a lot of people are learning if you ain’t first your last.
yeah right too many people wanting a job but the government not doing anything about it. all the jobs left the country and go somewhere cheaper because company doesn't want to pay high wages in America so they go to poor countries to export there labor for cheap. corporation own every aspects of life in America your rent, food, jobs, and information.
@millabasset1710 In addition to that, they bring u on as an apprentice, work u to hell, and keep u in that role for a looooong time, years! Many times, they have no intention of promoting you.
It is very hard to find a job because of the law of supply and demand. Too many supply but fewer demand. Corporations are like God that you have to kneel down and pray on their feet to be hired.
I like the college grad with a major in pottery wanting top dollar from day one. The reason they are absurd? College education expecting a bigger share of the pie to pay a debt any SMART person would not have signed their name to AGREEING THAT T H E Y would be the one to repay it and NOT US.
Corporations want the work experience of a 50 year old, the drive and performance of a 30 year old, and the salary expectations of a 20 year old.
And they want a person to do the jobs of a 20, 30, and 50 year old.
NOPE!! THE SALARY EXPECTATIONS OF A (5) YR. OLD.
Aptly put.

Usually Indian CEOs/Managers are like this.
He is thinking to himself “why can’t those stupid slaves make me a billionaire already?” I’d assume he also pays low wages.
Give me some cyber security advice lol I am trying to get anything rn and Cali is impossible. I am willing to move for a decent salary!
I always say this: the issue isn't the job itself, but the people we have to deal with during our work days.
They're definitely still there, I see them all the time.
I mean in my field, not in-general. I'm sure they are out there.

@@TommyTomTompkins Yes, and I have. It is really the only choice in this job market.

Companies are selling the personal info that you provide when applying for a job online.
So what happens if you get fired when depression hits?
Bro this plan is flawed
If America goes down, we all go down. If there was a WW3, who would we even be fighting???
If the answer is anything other than nukes, it's pure fantasy.
As someone who works remotely, you can’t just move to anywhere you want. There are tax implications for the company.
You have alice in the wonderland view about Thailand and panama. In fact, what you listed above is precisely why America is the safest place on earth
Not just those out of college, it’s hard for everyone now. Even those with 10 years experience (too much)
In the video there is a stat: 1/3 of employer avoid hiring recent grad.
If you’re old, you can try to look young. There are ways you can do it.
Hell, prolly always but it seems much worse.
fuck society!

Honestly I’m grateful to be employed
Same...
For who. You need nepotism or experience to get a skilled trade
@@AlbatrossWhisper nothing you can apply to be an intern at the construction site
The jobs I apply for on LinkedIn show over 100 other applicants. Often it’s above 500.
College degrees are now more of a social status rather than a golden ticket to a job these days. I am a double Major in economics and health science, and I’m now studying a certification for healthcare financial management, which doesn’t really require a degree, but my degree still gives me a good advantage in the future, but not with a 100% guarantee
This didn’t really explain anything…I think it’s inflation and the cost of money for companies to greenlight projects, staff and more.

If job searching is so hard, what's the point of going to college? More college debt!, can't keep it with the bills!
After you drive applying to work at the post office, they’re hiring

Get rid of interviews and hire people based off of work history instead of who you like personally.
